I feel inspired. All the fanfics are wonderful, and this idea I have in my head came back to me the other day. I am not that great of a writer, but I hope you like this!!! ;D
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Lindsay woke up with a start. She had been restless all night. Something was troubling her, but she wasn't sure what it was. Looking at the alarm clock, Lindsay rolled back on her back and threw the pillow over her face. Her parent's were away on a much needed vacation. Dad had finally turned over the reigns to the company to her, and decided to retire. Mom was just happy to get away for awhile. Things were good at work. Lindsay was making inroads with all her staff. The board, well...they were finally adjusting to her taking over the reigns as CEO of McBane Enterprises. So for her to be so restless is troublesome. Lindsay got out of bed and headed for the kitchen. A good strong cup of coffee always helps. She then went upstairs and jumped in the shower. While showering Lindsay couldn't stop thinking about how lonely she was. She missed her parents. They've been gone for a couple of weeks on an Alaskan cruise. Lindsay had given the trip to her parents as a retirement present. It's so hot in the Phoenix in the summer. Lindsay hadn't spoken to her parents since they boarded the cruise ship. She was hoping they were enjoying themselves. __________________ At the office Lindsay was having a hard time listening to the board members drone on and on about the "bottom line" and sales figures. Just then her Assistant Lisa came in and slipped her a note. Lisa has been Lindsay's loyal secretary for 10 years. Lindsay moved her up each time she herself moved up in the company. Lisa had a nice way of "interrupting" Lindsay and rescuing her from the dull board meetings. "Excuse me ladies and gentlemen". "I have an urgent matter to attend to." Lisa escorted Lindsay out of the board room and into her office. Lindsay was a little taken back by the serious mood that Lisa was in. Lisa was the office comedian. Lisa wasn't joking right now. Lindsay, you have an urgent phone call from the police in Anchorage. It's a Lt Riker, Lisa said, with a very worried tone. Lisa left Lindsay's office and shut the door behind her to give her boss some privacy. Hello, this is Lindsay McBane. How may I help you?
Yes, this is Lt Riker from the Anchorage police department. I'm afraid that I have some bad news to report to you. You are the daughter of James and Rebecca McBane, correct?
Yes, yes I am, said Lindsay while sitting down, her knees beginning to grow weak. What's wrong?
I'm afraid there has been a horrible accident Ms. McBane. Your parents were in Anchorage, apparently having got off their cruise ship and sight seeing. They had rented a car and were in an accident. I'm sorry Ms. McBane, there is no easy way to say this. Your father was found dead on the scene, dying from his injuries and your mother has been taken to the nearest hospital. She's not good. She is in emergency surgery. She has suffered severe head injuries.
Oh my God, cried Lindsay, weak with the news. What...what happened??
We're not sure, stated Lt. Riker, but I'm afraid your father must have suffered from a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle. Witnesses say they saw him driving erratically right before he ran the red light and crashed into another vehicle.
Is anyone else hurt asked Lindsay as she started to sob, but tried to maintain her ability to speak?
Only minor injuries Ms. McBane Ms. McBane, you really need to hurry. I'll have my assistant make the arrangements and I will be right there. Lindsay set the phone down and sat in complete shock. Now she knows why she had been so restless last night. ___________ Lindsay looked out of her passenger side window at the majestic scenery as the cab raced through traffic to reach the hospital. Her beautiful green eyes were so sore and bloodshot from crying. Her dark sunglasses helped hide the pain she was in. She started to cry again as her thoughts went to her beloved father. Mr. James McBane was the greatest man in her life. He was also the kindest. Lindsay had fell into his arms more than once after falling and scraping her knees, or crying after a boy had broken her heart. The thought of never having him hold her in his arms again brought Lindsay to uncontrollable sobs. _____________ Lindsay was told by the nurse that she could be in the ICU for only a few minutes. Lindsay slowly pulled the current back and saw her mother's broken body lying like an angel in a bed of fluffy cotton. The machines hooked up to her mother broke the serene scene and woke Lindsay up to the fact that her mother was on the brink of death.
Rebecca McBane was the most beautiful women Lindsay had ever known. Rebecca defined intelligence and oozed class. A very refined woman, who used every free moment with her favorite charities; abandoned children, Rebecca was a quiet woman, who rarely raised her voice. Lindsay had shared her childhood with many children that Rebecca had brought home. Though they never stayed long; they left with a renewed hope and a love they never knew before. The McBanes helped hundreds of children go on to wonderful homes and they made sure those same children went to college. Lindsay's parents had seen to that with their special college fund set up from McBane Enterprises. Lindsay sat on the side of the bed, being careful not to disturb any of the wires that were strewn all over the bed and Rebbeca's body. Lindsay broke down again and sobbed. She couldn't lose her mother. There was no one else. The McBane's were never able to have of their own children. The doctor's never knew why. Lindsay was adopted after years of trying. Lindsay had no idea who her real parents were and why she was put up for adoption. She never thought of it. The McBane's WERE her real parent's in her mind. Lindsay found out on her 14th birthday. Rebecca and James had set her down and discussed the adoption in very small detail. _______________________ Lindsay was so tired. The trip was exhausting, and now - sitting at the funeral parlor, and greeting hundred's of her parent's friends and associates has nearly drained the last ounce of energy Lindsay had left. The Funeral Director, Mr. Amos, placed both the caskets next to each other. The McBane’s had a beautiful ceremony, and at the cemetery, there was a 21 gun salute for James, as he was a Vietnam Veteran. Lindsay was the last one to leave. As she walked towards the limo waiting for her, she felt that she was the loneliest person alive. No parents, no siblings, no aunt, uncles or cousins. _______________________ Lindsay just wanted to jump back into work and try to forget her pain. But her late parent’s attorney was insistent that the will be read and all the lose ends be taken care of. Of course Lindsay was the sole owner of McBane Enterprises. Her parents had left her the house and millions of dollars in the bank, stocks, bonds, gold, and precious jewelry. But still, Lindsay would’ve given it all away to have her parent’s back. Mr. Stone, the McBane’s Attorney, handed a package to Lindsay and said that this is the last item you need to deal with. It was a video tape that her mother had made for her and she was to watch it upon her death. Rebecca had made the tape years ago, hoping that it would give her daughter some closer and some hope for her future. Lindsay was too exhausted when she got home to even watch the tape. She just wanted to sleep. She hadn’t really eaten or slept more than a few hours in the past week. She grabbed herself some Chinese take-out on the way home and curled up on the couch to eat. She watched the news as she ate and afterwards, she fell asleep where she lay. The next morning she woke to the phone ringing. It was Lisa, her Assistant, calling to remind her of an important meeting with the Board. They were concerned about changes that might be coming because of the death of her father. Lindsay didn’t feel like going in to the office today. She told Lisa that she would be in after lunch, and to inform the board members that she would be ready for their 1:00 pm meeting. She looked down at the coffee table and saw the tape that her mother had made for her. She decided to watch it over her morning coffee. Darling, if you are watching this tape, I presume that I and your father are no longer with you. I have loved you as my own. Yes, you were adopted. But please know that your father and couldn’t have asked for a more loving and wonderful daughter. I want you to look for your REAL mother and father. I don’t know all the details, as your file was sealed. However, I do know that your mother was in college and she had broken up with her boyfriend. He was married to someone else when she found out she was pregnant and didn't want to interfere in that relationship. She had family here in Phoenix that she stayed with while pregnant with you. She is originally from the Las Angeles area. That is all I know sweetie. I love you. God Bless.

The board meeting went well. All the "old timers" were rest assured that things would remain the same. They didn't like change. Lindsay wasn't about to rock the boat at this point in time. She had too much on her mind, like the mysterious tape that her mother had left her.
Lindsay was nearing her late 40's and alone. She had dated several men, and even had been serious with a few. But they all seemed to break her heart and they never treated her with the love and respect that she had received from her father. None of them measured up. Most of the men she knew were rich playboys. Not her cup of tea. She could smell their betrayal a mile away, and wanted no part of it.
Lindsay told Lisa about the tape. She didn't know what to do. She felt like she would be betraying the love of her parents, the McBane's, if she went looking for her real parents. But she was so lonely. The thought of having a sister or brother was exciting. Lisa told her to go for it. If her mother and father didn't want her to find her real parents, they wouldn't have left that tape. Besides, it had been months since her parents had died, and Lindsay felt she needed a challenge. Running the company was boring her to tears. Maybe the excitement had run out. Her father always made coming to work worth while. He had made it a point all those years to teach Lindsay the ins and outs, and without him, she felt lazy and uninspired.
Lisa had given her a couple of names of some private detectives in the LA area. Lindsay had called one, and had a 4:00 pm meeting with him tomorrow. She was going to fly, but decided to drive. She got up early the next morning and headed out. She put the top down on her black Mercedes and tied a beautiful scarf around her long blond hair. Fall is so beautiful in the desert, and a change of scenery was just was Lindsay needed.
Mr. Horvath was a scruffy, middle-aged private detective. He'd been around the block a few times and not much got past him. He had investigated everything from murder to adultery. Sitting out in front of a hotel waiting on that wife or husband to walk out with their lover had been a staple for his agency. Boring as it was, he felt real satisfaction when he produced the photos to the "victim" of the affairs. He saw many marriages break up, so that is probably why he thought of marriage as a joke. He couldn't figure out why anyone would go through the process. So, he was intrigued that he had a possible new client that was looking for her parents, instead of busting her partner in a crime of passion.
Not many details to go on Ms. McBane, said Mr. Horvath, after watching the tape.
I know, said Lindsay. My parents didn't really talk to me much about the adoption.
We'll have to find out what hospital you were born in. Mr. Horvath had a twinkle in his eye. Ms. McBane was very beautiful. He couldn't help but notice how breathtakingly gorgeous she was. Her green eyes were dreamy, but at the same time, had a sadness to them. He wanted to reach out and give her a hug, but knew better of it. She seemed to lonely.
Well, Mr. Horvath.... He interrupted Lindsay and said for her to call him Peter.
Well, Peter, I know that I was born in Scottsdale. I'm just not sure what hospital. I was born on a Saturday morning, and the year was 1959. That is basically all I ever got out of my parents over the years. Like I said, they didn't discuss my adoption in any great detail.
Well, that year might be wrong, said Peter. When is your birthday??
I have been told it is November 2nd, 1959 said Lindsay, now puzzled. Why would they not tell me the correct time of my birth??
Well, explained Peter, they MIGHT have told you the right day. But from my experience, most adoptive parents change the day to help hide the details of the adoption. The first thing I will do is fly to Scottsdale and do some investigating. I'll check the data base down at city hall and try to find all births in the area for that time period. So your mother attended college here in LA, questioned Peter?
Yes, and I am sure there are lots of colleges here. Just not sure which one. Again, not many details. Lindsay was sad at the thought of so little to go on. She didn't expect this to be so hard.
_____________________
A couple of weeks later, as Lindsay sat out on her patio, she received a phone call from Peter. He was coming over. He has been in Phoenix digging up details of her birth and adoption. She was excited and scared at the same time.
____________________
Lindsay poured Peter a tall glass of ice-tea, and sat down to go over his findings.
I found out that there were 20 births for the week before and after the 2nd of November, 1959 explained Peter. I eliminated 15 of them, as they were males. So, that leaves 5 female births for that time period. But, and here's the good news, only one female birth for November 2nd. I had to do a lot of digging, and put out all my charm, but I finally got the gal down at vital statistics to help me out. Those files were buried deep in the vaults. Not even on microfiche.
Lindsay felt a spark of excitement she hadn't felt in almost a year. Gosh...almost a year has gone by since she lost her parents. The thought of finding her real mother was almost overwhelming to her.
So Peter, do you know my real mother's name, asked Lindsay?? Hopeful....
Not yet, my dear. But I do know the name of the adoption agency, Peter said with a gleam in his eyes. I think that we are on to something, and that it was definitely your file I found. He handed over a very old envelope to Lindsay across the table. She noticed that he didn't' have a wedding ring on, and that his hands were rough and worn.
Lindsay opened the file and started to go through the papers inside it. No names, but there was a stamp at the bottom that read, "Satterfield Adoption Agency". Are you going to contact the adoption agency, asked Lindsay??
Already have my dear. Peter was so happy to see a smile on Lindsay's face. He had only seen a sad face, and was taken back again at how beautiful she was. He couldn't fathom why this wonderful creature didn't have a man in her life. But he knew better then to even think that he had a chance with such a refined women. I have already met with the Administrator. She said any paperwork or files from that time period have probably been destroyed. But she let me go through their old files that are stored in their vaults, and I did find another file from that date.
Lindsay's heart skipped a beat as Peter handed her another file. It was dirty and moldy, but precious at the same time.
There is a name Ms. McBane. Lindsay asked him to also call her by her first name. She felt safe around Peter. He was so warm and sweet, but had a very rough exterior. She felt she could trust Peter.
Lindsay opened the file and read. She saw the name of her mother and father. She couldn't believe there was finally a name associated with her real mother. Beth for her mother and then....Eric Forrester.

I thought you said you didn't know the name of my mother, Lindsay said to Peter as she looked down at the names again.
Peter sat there with a big dopey smile on his face. I didn't want to spill the beans all at once my dear.
Peter couldn't believe how all the details fell into place so quickly. Usually it took months and even years to get so many details.
Do you know the name Lindsay, asked Peter.
Lindsay knew the name Forrester alright. She owned several Forrester designer dresses. Yes...said Lindsay. I know that the Forrester's have one of the finest fashion houses in all of the world. But I doubt seriously if this is the same Eric Forrester. Why would a man with his means not take care of his child, asked a horrified Lindsay?
She threw the file down and was quite displeased at the thought of a man who wouldn't take responsibility for his own flesh and blood.
But Peter reminded her that her mother was in college at the time of her birth, and what Rebecca had stated on that tape.
Yes, said Lindsay, I know. Why would my mother NOT tell my father who I was? Why would my mother hide her pregnancy from him?? Lindsay had more questions than answers at this point.
What do we do now asked Lindsay???
Well, that is up to you my dear. Peter knew that the next step was to confront Eric Forrester and find out if he indeed was the same Eric Forrester named on that paperwork.
What, do I just show up in LA on Eric Forrester's door and say, Hey...daddy, it's me, cried Lindsay.
Peter hadn't noticed that Lindsay had tears running down her cheeks, as she had walked away and turned her back towards him. He didn't realize how overwhelming this whole ordeal has been to her.
No, said Peter. You can throw those files away and forget that you ever saw them. Or, you can go and confront Mr. Forrester with this information. That is all up to you Lindsay. He walked up and gave her a hug. To his surprise, Lindsay fell into his arms and sobbed. He held her tight for what seemed like an eternity. Lindsay was surprised herself. It felt nice to feel the arms of a strong man around her again. She stepped back and said she was sorry. Peter stepped back as well and said that there was no need to apologize. He said that he was sorry for laying this all on her so quickly. In all his enthusiasm to give her the news, he hadn't realized what a shock this could all be.
Lindsay, just take some time to think about all of this and absorb it all, said Peter. I'm flying back to LA. tonight. If you need anything more from me, just call me.
That night, Lindsay again felt restless. She couldn't sleep, but was not the kind of person who took pills to help her sleep. She couldn't get the thought of Eric Forrester being her real father out of her mind. What kind of man was he really??? And Beth. There was no maiden name on the certificate. So, she would have to go to Eric Forrester to get any answers. She got up and went into her closet. She grabbed a Forrester Original gown from the racks, and looked the piece over. She last wore this dress to a charity event that her mother had held for adoptive children. It was a long black dress, with exquisite beading and little satin shoulder straps. She thought about the man who designed this dress, and also thought about her mother Rebecca, who bought it for her. What do I do mother, cried Lindsay. A small tear ran down her face as she contemplated what to do. She didn't want to forget about her parents, the McBanes. But she was so lonely. The thought of having family in her life was agonizing.
____________________________________
The next morning Lindsay was up bright and early. She sipped her coffee and paced the floor. She made her mind up that she was going to meet with Eric Forrester. But she just wasn't sure how to go about it.
Lindsay picked up the phone and dialed her good friend Peter. He would know what to do she thought.
___________________________________
Peter met Lindsay at the airport. She had a worried look on her face, but as usual, she looked gorgeous. She had a midlength pink dress on, with a beaded jacket that matched. Her shoes were pink as well, and Peter laughed when he saw her matching pink purse. Lindsay asked what he was laughing at, and Peter said that he thought it was funny that women matched their clothes down to every minute detail. He usually wore jeans and flip flops. And it was a miracle that his t-shirts weren't wrinkled.
_________________________________
I was able to get the address of Eric Forrester's mansion. He lives in an exclusive neighborhood. Quite pricey. Peter eluded to that fact that the Forrester's would have a security system in place and that they might not be able to just walk up and knock on the door.
To his surprise, he was able to drive right through the gate. Do you want me to come with you asked Peter of Lindsay. He could tell she was nervous. Yes....would you come with me asked Lindsay???
_____________________________
Stephanie Forrester was busy with details of her son's upcoming wedding. To her distain, Ridge was AGAIN attempting to marry Brooke Logan. Her eyes rolled in her head as she thought about Brooke Logan. How she wished her son would get over his obsession with that women. No matter what devious plan she had concocted, nothing ever worked. But if she had her way, this wedding would not take place.
Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard the door bell ring.
Hello....Mrs. Forrester, asked Lindsay. She saw an older women standing in the doorway, and was sure that she was Mrs. Eric Forrester.
Yes, said Stephanie. How may I help you?
Is Eric Forrester here, asked Lindsay sheepishly? She looked over at Peter, and he nodded assuredly at her.
No, he's not, said Stephanie sarcastically. Who are you, and what do you want with my husband, said a miffed Stephanie?? Stephanie couldn’t help but notice the resemblance this women had to the women she hated like no other. My God, Stephanie thought to herself, she looks so much like Brooke Logan.
Peter stepped in front of Lindsay and spoke for her. Never mind, Mrs. Forrester. We'll see him at the office.
Peter hurriedly escorted Lindsay down the walkway towards his car.
What are you doing Peter, asked a defiant Lindsay? She stopped in her tracts and was puzzled at his actions.
Can you not tell that Mrs. Forrester is NOT the person that you should be speaking with, asked Peter? His years of detective work has given his the experience to know when he smelt a rattle snake.
What do you mean Peter, asked Lindsay?
As they drove out of the garden area and through the gates, he explained to Lindsay that he could tell just by looking at Mrs. Forrester that she wasn't the person to speak with. He felt a mean spirit around that women and didn't like the vibes coming off of her.
So what do we do now, asked a bewildered Lindsay??
We go straight to the man, explained Peter. Let's go grab some lunch, and work out a better game plan.
___________________________
Lindsay didn't realize how hungry she was. They went to little out of the way hole in the wall down by the marina. It was quite noisy with rough looking men laughing and hooting it up. She heard the sound of pool sticks hitting balls and landing in the pockets.
Peter ordered himself some wings, while Lindsay decided to dine on a broiled chicken salad.
Lindsay didn't notice a man sitting at a nearby table who couldn't take his eyes off of her. He couldn't help but be astonished at the resemblance she had to the women he loved as no other. She had the same blonde hair and the same physic. He shook his head and just thought to himself that everyone has a twin. But as he walked up to pay his tab, he glanced at her one more time. She looked just like Brooke. It was scary. She had those same green eyes that he longed to look into. Alas, he thought to himself. His love was marrying Ridge Forrester in a week. Seeing this women brought Brooke into his mind again. He had tried desperately to forget her. He walked out of the bar, looking as though he had seen a ghost.
___________________________
As they rode up the elevator to the office suites where Eric Forrester's office was, Lindsay felt desperate. She felt panicked as the elevator doors opened. I don't want to do this, said Lindsay. Peter took her aside and said that they didn't have to do this if she didn't want to. No, I do, as Lindsay pulled herself together. They looked around for a receptionist, but saw no one.
__________________________
Eric Forrester was looking out the window of his office and thinking about the upcoming events. Ridge had asked him to design a wedding dress for Brooke, and he was just putting the finishing touches on it. It was no secret that Eric had deep intense feelings for Brooke. He fell in love with her so many years ago, and he had never stopped. But he knew that Brooke didn't feel the same way towards him. The only other women that he felt such intense feelings for was his beloved Beth. But she was in Paris and that relationship was ruined beyond repair so many years ago. He stayed with Stephanie out of some misguided loyalty. There was little or no love left in his marriage. Eric needed to get out of the office for awhile. A nice walk in the ground of his office would help clear his head.
He saw two people in the waiting area and noticed that Meagan was no where to be seen. Have you folks been helped, asked Eric? Eric wasn't so full of himself that he couldn't help out with even the smallest jobs at the office. These could be important buyers.
Lindsay knew immediately who the man was the walked up to her. She has seen his face in the newspapers a hundred times. She couldn't help but notice how handsome he was. The suit he wore fit him to a tee. His face was warm and his voice felt so welcoming. She was face-to-face with the man that could quite possibly be her real father.

Brooke was beaming. Again she was preparing for a wedding with the love of her life, Ridge Forrester. She was working out the details of the honeymoon. She wanted to get away with Ridge and have the time of their lives. Meagan was helping her with last minute details. Brooke, the flowers have all been ordered. The florist will deliver them on Saturday morning to your house. Brooke….asked Meagan, where are you??? Brooke was there, but her mind was elsewhere. Her thoughts were on Nick. She loved him too, but his betrayal with her daughter was something that she just couldn’t get past. She knew that she would forever be bound to him because of his love for Hope, but she just couldn’t forgive him for taking advantage of her daughter. I’m sorry Meagan, I’ve got so much on my mind. What were you saying??? ________________________________ Eric was taken back at the beautiful women standing in front of him. She looked so familiar to him. Mr. Forrester, do you have a minute to talk, asked Lindsay? Well, I was just going outside for a walk. I don’t know where Meagan my receptionist is, but if you wait, I’m sure she will be here soon to make an appointment. Are you a buyer? How did you know my name? Peter again took the lead and spoke for Lindsay. Mr. Forrester, you are a very famous man. I’d like to introduce you to my client, Ms. Lindsay McBane. Your client, asked Eric?? Yes, Mr. Forrester, I am a private detective. My name is Peter Horvath, and my client has hired me to help her with some personal affairs. Is there somewhere we can talk privately, as this matter concerns you and it is highly personal and quite the delicate situation. Yes, I have a few minutes said Eric. What is this about and how does Ms. McBane’s personal matters concern me? Eric usually didn’t speak to people that randomly came into the office unless they were cleared through Meagan first. But he was intrigued by the beautiful women in front of him and decided to oblige, if only for a few minutes. Let’s go out on the grounds outside and find a little hideaway where we can talk, said Eric. His interest was definitely peaked, and he welcomed this beautiful diversion. ______________________________ Bridget picked her grandmother and grandfather (modifed to say oops ) up from the airport. She was excited to see her grandparent’s and was thrilled that they had decided to come home early to spend some time with the family before Brooke’s wedding. Grandma …Grandpa you both look so good, Bridget squealed with excitement as she gave them both hugs. Beth and Stephen were happy to see their granddaughter, but tried to hide the news that they were going to land on their children’s heads. They both knew that their marriage wasn’t working, and even in Paris, they couldn’t rekindle their love. They would wait until after Brooke’s wedding to give the news that they were going to divorce. _____________________________ Taylor was sitting alone on her patio, contemplating her life and how messed up it was at the moment. She had been going to her AA meetings as were recommended by the courts, but she still had the urge to grab that drink when she was feeling down and desperate. Her children were so busy with their lives, and she was trying to throw herself into her work. But listening to other’s problems all day was getting harder and harder each passing day. She had her support group, but she was lonely, and needed a reason to get up in the morning. She felt no excitement in her life. The up coming marriage of Ridge to Brooke made her sad. She knew the merry-go-round all too much, and wondered if THIS time, the marriage would stick. But she decided not to dwell on anything Ridge Forrester. He had hurt her so deeply with the sudden break up of their marriage, and he was down right cruel to her in the months that followed. He acted as if she wasn’t even alive. That tore her to the core of her being. She fought so hard to get back to her family, all to have it be thrown away over her telling the truth about her affair with James so many years ago. She shook herself and stood up and decided right then and there that she would make a difference today, with the rest of her life. I don’t need a man to make me feel good about myself, decided Taylor. _________________________________

It was a beautiful fall day in LA. The grounds at Forrester Originals were immaculately manicured. Eric led them to a little quite spot that had a fountain and some benches.
Okay, folks, why don’t you tell me what this is all about, said Eric.
Lindsay didn’t know how to approach the conversation, so she looked over at Peter, and nodded for him to take the lead.
Mr. Forrester, does the name Beth ring a bell to you, asked Peter?
Yes, yes…the name Beth rings a bell. The only Beth I know is Beth Logan. What does this have to do with Beth Logan, asked Eric, now puzzled, but alarmed at the same time.
Mr., Forrester, my client came to me hoping that I could help her find her real parents. She was adopted, and her adoptive parents died as the result of a car accident. Her mother gave her some information at her death, that has brought us to you. We have discovered that Ms. McBane’s birth mother is Beth….perhaps Beth Logan. We also know that Beth named you as Lindsay’s birth father.
Eric sat in shock, trying to absorb the news he had just heard. But that is impossible, Beth and I only slept together once, so many years ago. Eric knew that sounded foolish, but he also knew that Beth would’ve never have kept that kind of information from him. Are you sure, Mr. Horvath, asked Eric??
Call me Peter, Mr. Forrester. Peter pulled the files from out of his brief case and handed them over to Eric.
Lindsay was watching every look on Eric’s face. She had a hard time reading him. She couldn’t tell if he was happy or angry about the news, or if he even believed her.
Eric looked over all the documents and just sat their, with no expression on his face at all.
Lindsay stood up and said, I’m sorry Mr. Forrester. Maybe we’ve made a mistake?
No…don’t go Ms. McBane, said Eric. I’m sorry, this is just a lot to swallow. Eric looked at Lindsay and knew immediately in his heart that the news was true. She looked so much like Brooke, that it couldn’t be a mere coincidence.
I believe you, said Eric. You have no idea how much you look like someone I know. I just have so many questions. What led you to me???
Peter took the lead again, and explained to Eric all the details the he and Lindsay knew.
Eric stood up and walked over to Lindsay. My God, a daughter. I have another daughter!
Lindsay stood up too and was taken back at the smile that radiated from Mr. Forrester’s face. He indeed was very charming and his warmth reminded her so much of her beloved father, James McBane.
I just don’t understand why Beth never told me, said Eric as the look on his face turned sorrowful. Then Peter reminded him of the details regarding his marriage those years ago and how Beth didn’t want to interfere.
Have you met with your mother yet…Beth, asked Eric?
No, said Lindsay, a little overwhelmed. We didn’t know her last name, until now. Do you know how we can contact Beth?
Yes, Yes I do, said Eric. He had tears in his eyes. The women he loved so many years ago has sparred his marriage to Stephanie. That is so like Beth, he said to himself.
I need to absorb all of this, said Eric. A lot of people’s lives are going to change because of this. There are so many questions I have for you Ms. McBane. And I think we are going to need some proof of this before we land this bombshell on anyone.
Call me Lindsay, please, Mr. Forrester.
And you call me Eric too, Ms. McBane.
Eric was in shock, but he was also happy. Can I get a hug, asked Eric?
Lindsay was apprehensive, but was relieved that Eric has so easily accepted her words and believed her. She fell into Eric’s arms and felt safe and loved like the last time since she had hugged her father - James. The tears welled up in her eyes and she sobbed. She felt like she was home and was quite surprised at how happy she was.
Eric was surprised himself at how easily he accepted this women into his heart. As he hugged her his thoughts were on Beth and what could’ve been.
Peter just stood back and took it all in. He was not the kind of man that cried, but he wiped away a tear as it fell onto his cheek.

I don't know much about medical things, you know...DNA, said Eric.
Peter said that he could arrange to have the blood work done to ensure that Eric and Lindsay are truely father and daughter.
If you don't mind, said Eric, I would like to keep this all top secret until we know for sure. Then we can proceed with contacting Beth, and informing her.
No problem Eric, said Peter. I will arrange the details and let you know where to meet to get the blood work done.
Eric hugged Lindsay again, and she was totally speechless.
As they drove off the Forrester Original grounds, Lindsay felt the happiest she had felt in months.

Peter had gone to visit one of his gal pals down at Johnson Laboratories. She had worked with him on many cases of identifying the true parentage of many clients. Suzi was a trusted confident, and she understood when he asked for discretion. Suzy agreed to meet her friend Peter at a secret location to take the samples. She had done this many times before.

Lindsay was hungry and decided to go out for a bite. The Manager of her hotel had highly recommended the Cafe Rouse so she hailed a cab and ventured out.
_____________________
Taylor was shocked when she got a call from Ridge to meet him for dinner. She hadn't really spoke to him that often, unless it was something to do with one of the kids. But she hadn't been out in ages, and thought a nice dinner with her x-husband wouldn't do any harm.
_____________________
Ridge was pacing the floors of his office. He was having 2nd thoughts about marrying Brooke. He loved Brooke, but was still unhappy that she had chosen his half brother over him time and time again. He was wondering if he shouldn't just go his separate way, and leave Brooke to Nick. But then he would feel this jealous rage build up in him, and didn't want her near him. That's why he asked Taylor to meet him for dinner. Doc always was able to read him. Maybe she could give him some answers.

Lindsay took a seat at the bar. She hated eating alone, and felt less conspicuous sitting with others around her. She had picked up a newspaper, and decided to read a little while she waited for her dinner. With a nice glass of Chablis, she read and was interested in an article in the "Gossip" section about a young women named Brooke Logan. Lindsay usually wasn't into the gossip sections, herself being a target in Phoenix. Any time she would go out to an event, the photographers would go nuts on her. The picture of Brooke Logan was with a man named Ridge Forrester. She was shocked at how much she resembled this Brooke Logan. She was also pretty sure that Ridge Forrester was Eric Forrester's son, and that Brooke Logan was Beth Logan's daughter. OMG....these two could be my siblings, Lindsay said with a shock.
She did not see the man seated at the table behind her. It wasn't until the waiter asked Mr. Forrester if anyone was joining him that she took notice. She was careful not to be seen, but turned to see that it was the same Mr. Forrester in the picture. She was curious when Mr. Forrester said that he would be meeting with Dr. Taylor Hayes-Forrester.

Brooke was busy in the kitchen making sure everything was ready for dinner. Her parent's were in the living room with Hope and rj, Bridget and Rick. The door bell rang and Brooke entered the living room saying that she would get it. It was Donna. Donna was happy to see her parents. Everyone hugged and shared in hellos. Is Katie coming in, asked Beth? I called her, and asked her to be here, but she didn't sound very interested in watching me merry Ridge again, explained Brooke. Where is Ridge, asked Stephen, not trying very hard to hide his disdain? He said he had a dinner meeting with a client this evening, said Brooke. Just then the door bell rang again, and Donna ran to get it. It was Storm. Again, everyone hugged and exchanged greetings. Shall we....said Brooke, as she led everyone into the dining room. She had prepared a glorious dinner of honey glazed chicken, with a Caesar salad and baby red potatoes in a nice butter sauce. She had even made desert; pineapple upside down cake, her father's favorite. __________________
Why are you so jittery, Stephanie asked of Eric? He couldn't sit still through dinner, and looked like that cat that swallowed the canary. I just have a lot on my mind dear, said Eric...almost perturbed that Stephanie had interrupted his thoughts. He had received a call from Peter and was to meet him tomorrow morning at Lindsay's hotel to give his blood for the DNA test. Are you worried about the wedding, asked Stephanie sparkly? No dear, I think everything will be just fine. He definitely wasn't in the mood to hear Stephanie berate Brooke again. Well, they should know how to do it, what is this - The 50th time they've tried to get married, Stephanie said with a boisterous laugh? Yes, dear, said Eric....totally ignoring her comments. Well, if I have any say in the matter, they WON'T be getting married, commanded Stephanie. Eric just rolled his eyes at her. Most of the time he jabs back at her, or defends Brooke. But he was thinking about Beth and the thought of having a daughter.

Lindsay was enjoying her grilled chicken salad. It was probably her most favorite dish to eat. She was always conscious of her diet. She worked hard on her figure. She looked up, and out of the corner of her eye she could see a dark haired women, mid 40's, walking towards her. She turned slightly, right before her, and was greeted by Ridge Forrester. She didn't want to eavesdrop, but couldn't help but hear their conversation.
Taylor...so nice of you to come, said Ridge. Well, I can't say that I wasn't a little surprised that you called me, said Taylor. I thought you had forgotten I was alive she said rolling her eyes. Ridge just cocked his head and said, I'm sorry Doc. Ridge held out the chair for Taylor and helped slide her in to the table. So, Ridge...what did you want to see me about, asked Taylor. Taylor was still in love with Ridge, but had decided that very morning to forget about men all together and concentrate on building her career and expanding her horizons. It was a bitter pill for her to swallow when Ridge dumped her and ran back to Brooke. Ridge sat down, and asked about the kids. They are all fine. Pheobe is still seeing Rick, much to my chagrin, said an exasperated Taylor. Ridge just let out a moan. Thomas and Stephy are doing great. They might come in to see you get married to Brooke. Ridge said that would be nice. He seemed a little preoccupied to Taylor. Ridge, asked Taylor, why did you really want to see me. You could've talked to me about the kids on the phone, or come over? I'm having second thoughts about marrying Brooke, he told Taylor. Taylor sat there and her jaw nearly hit the floor. What??? Trouble in paradise, she asked in a bitchy tone? She couldn't help but feel a little glee that things weren't looking good for Ridge and Brooke. Things are okay I guess, shrugged Ridge. I'm just not sure if it's the right thing to do. What did Brooke do this time, suggested Taylor? Nothing Taylor, Ridge said a little miffed. I just don't think she is over Nick Marone yet.
By this time, Lindsay had gotten an earful and was not happy at what she heard. How dare this aging playboy say those things about the women he was suppose to marry in less than a week. And the name Marone had perked her ears up. Her father James has had dealings in the past with a Massimo Marone. He wasn't a nice man. In fact, her father James had said he was a selfish arrogant pig. James McBane never talked bad about anyone, but Massimo Marone had tried to steal her father's company away from him years ago. Lindsay felt that the war with Massimo is what finally made her father decide to retire. The whole ordeal had worn him out. Lindsay was wondering if this Nick fellow was any relation to Massimo.
________________________
Everyone had retired to the living room where Storm was putting a log in the fireplace. Thanks for the desert honey, said Stephen as he gave Brooke a kiss on the cheek. The kids looked tired, and Donna volunteered to take the kids upstairs for their bath. I'll be up to tuck you in after bit, said Brooke. She sat down besides her mother and took her hand in hers. So Brooke, is this finally it, asked Beth? Brooke could never hide anything from Beth. Storm kind of let out a grunt and Stephen did the same. Look everyone, I know you all don't agree with me marrying Ridge, but we have the kids to think about, explained Brooke. What about Nick, asked Stephen? Yeah, what about Nick, chimed in Storm? Brooke just looked at Bridget and Bridget put her head down. It was never meant' to be with Nick, said Brooke. Brooke had never told everyone besides Ridge what really happened with her and Nick. She wanted to spare Bridget's feelings. Brooke got up and walked over and gave Bridget a reassuring hug on her shoulder. RJ is Ridge's son, said Brooke. I want my children to grow up with their father. Stephen grunted again, and said that Nick was a good man and that he had never seen her happier. Storm agreed, and asked Brooke if she remembered all the times that Ridge had walked out on her. Brooke looked upset, and Beth could tell that Brooke had made up her mind. Honey, said Beth to her daughter. Do you want to go out on the patio and talk? Sure mom, said Brooke, relieved that her mother would end the inquisition towards Ridge. They walked out on the patio. Even though it was Fall in LA, there was an unusually warm breeze flowing through the mountains. The night was clear, and the stars were twinkling brightly. Honey, said Beth to Brooke. This is just you and me now. Are you sure that you are marrying Ridge for the right reasons? Brooke just sighed, and resigned herself to the fact that if she didn't talk to her mother about Ridge, there would never be an end to the conversation. Yes mother, I am marrying Ridge for the right reasons, explained Brooke. I love Ridge. I always have, my entire adult life. What really happened between you and Nick, asked Beth. Brooke felt like she was being tortured. Mom, it's a long story. But just understand that yes, I loved Nick, but we just aren't mean't to be. But I thought that you and Nick were so happy together, asked Beth? We were mom. It's complicated, said Brooke. Things happened, that I don't want to go into detail about. But just know, that I am making the right decision about Ridge. Beth wasn't so sure, but she didn't want to press her daughter any further. She still had 5 days before the wedding to find out what was going on.
__________________________
Ridge and Taylor were about done with dinner. Taylor passed on desert, but Ridge had decided on a big piece of double chocolate cake. Taylor knew that something was bothering Ridge when he ate like that. So, tell me Ridge. Why ARE you going to marry Brooke if you are having second thoughts, asked Taylor. Rj, said Ridge, as he cleaned up the last morsel of cake off his plate. RJ, asked Taylor? Yep, said Ridge. Brooke and I want to make a family for RJ and Hope. Brooke wants her kids to grow up with both parents. Do you love her, asked Taylor? Of course I love Brooke, exclaimed Ridge. But are you "in -love" with Brooke, asked Taylor? Ridge couldn't answer. He just sat there and Taylor knew the answer. You feel obligated to her because of your son, don't you, asked Taylor? That's part of it Doc, said Ridge. But I also know that if I don't marry Brooke, she'll run off to Nick, and I can't handle that. Taylor just sat there, and wasn't sure what to say to Ridge. But Ridge, said Taylor. Why would you marry Brooke because of Nick? If she has feelings for Nick, they will be there whether you marry Brooke or not. Why would you chance that she asked? I don't know Doc. That is why I am having second thoughts. Maybe Brooke and I are so use to each other that we keep trying to get married because we don't know what else to do, said Ridge. Taylor could tell that Ridge was really torn about this decision. Well, I think you should call off the wedding, said Taylor. I think that something happened between Nick and Brooke, and that she is running to you again, like she always does. Ridge knew the reason Nick and Brooke ended their marriage. And he also knew that they both ran to each other when they were having problems. Mostly out of habit. Brooke and Ridge were like old shoes. Very comfortable, and you never wanted to throw them away, even when you had shining new ones in the closet. I think you are right Doc, said Ridge. I don't want to hurt Brooke, but I need to protect myself in the same token. What guarantee do I have that Brooke won't run to Nick when we have a problem? Taylor felt a hint of hope as she sat across from Ridge. Stop it, she said to herself. I'm through with men!!

Lindsay watched out of the corner of her eye as the couple made their way towards the exit. Well well well, she thought to herself. Her feelings towards Ridge softened a little after hearing him talk about the reasons he had second thoughts about marrying Brooke. Lindsay didn't know them from Adam, but felt like she had just heard their entire life history. Do I want to get involved with this family, asked Lindsay of herself? She shook her head and paid her tab. She had a lot to think about.

Lindsay was drinking her usual cup of coffee when she heard the doorbell ring. It was Peter, and he had a women carrying a blood kit with him. Good morning my lovely, Peter said as he greeted Lindsay with a kiss on the cheek. Good morning to you too, said Lindsay. This is a good friend of mine...Suzy. She will be the one drawing your blood for the DNA test. Good to meet you Suzy, said Lindsay. This won't take but a few minutes, explained Suzy. Can you tell me some things about this test, asked Lindsay. It's very simple, stated Suzy. I draw your blood, we draw the blood of the man who is the intended parent, and then we run the test to see if there is a match. Just then the doorbell rang again, and Peter said, there's Mr. Forrester....right on time. He opened the door to see Eric standing there with a big grin on his face. Eric hadn't slept well, but was as fresh and enthusiastic about the day's events as if he'd slept 10 hours. The men exchanged greetings and walked into the sitting area of Lindsay's hotel room. Good morning Eric, stated Lindsay. And good morning to you too my dear, Eric said as he leaned down and kissed Lindsay on the top of her head. Roll up your sleeve Mr. Forrester, stated Suzy. We're just wrapping up with Lindsay and are about ready for you. Suzy was a no nonsense type of gal and didn't waste time or words. She knew her job well, and never played games.
so, that's it, asked Eric? That's it, said Suzy. She bent Eric's arm and held it up after placing a band-aid on his wound. How long until we know the results, asked Peter. It usually takes a couple weeks, explained Suzy. A couple weeks, exclaimed Eric? I don't want to wait a couple weeks to find out the results. Lindsay nodded in agreement and Peter asked if there wasn't some way to speed up the process. I guess I could put a rush on it for you, said Suzy, with a wink to Peter. Do it, said Eric. Money is no object. Alright, said Suzy. It will probably still take about 5 days before we know anything. I'll inform Peter of the results as soon as I know them.
Suzy left, and so did Peter. Peter had other client's he needed to attend to. Eric needed to get to the office before he was missed, but he wanted to get to know Lindsay some more. How about we meet for lunch, my treat, asked Eric? Sure, said Lindsay. That's sounds nice. I have so many questions, she said. Okay, do you have any suggestions, asked Eric? Lindsay only knew of a couple of places to dine since she's been in town. The Cafe Rouse seemed too stodgy for lunch. Do you know of a little place called Chuck's asked Lindsay? Eric laughed. Sure, I'll meet you there at noon....straight up. I'll cancel a couple of meetings I have for this afternoon. With that Lindsay led Eric out the door. She rubbed her arm, and smiled.

Lindsay got to Chuck's a little early. She was excited to talk with Eric. She wanted to know more about Beth Logan, and her children. As well as talk to him about his children.
Nick Marone had just walked in and sat down at his usual table. He had invited Taylor for a quick lunch. He took the day off, and decided to take Taylor out for a ride on The Shady Marlin. He and Taylor had tried to make a go of a romantic relationship, but it just wasn't working out. His mind was constantly on Brooke, so his heart just wasn't in to it. But they decided to remain friends. He enjoyed Taylor's company. She was easy to talk to and she had a good sense of humor. Nick saw Taylor come in, and he stood and greeted her. Good afternoon Taylor, said Nick as they shared a hug. Thanks for having me for lunch Nick, said Taylor. I'm really in the mood for some wings, and for a boat ride. They didn't notice as Eric Forrester walked in. Eric looked a little out of place walking into Chuck's. He had on an Italian suit and very expensive shoes. He saw Lindsay in a booth and walked up to her. He bent over and gave her a kiss on the forehead. This did NOT go unnoticed by Nick AND Taylor. Who IS that women, asked an exasperated Nick? I don't know, said Taylor, but Eric Forrester sure seems to know her. They both looked at each other in amazement and closed their gaping mouths. They were shocked that Eric Forrester even knew where Chuck's was, let alone that he would eat there. Nick looked at Taylor and said, Does that women NOT look just like Brooke? Yes, she does have some of Brooke's features, said Taylor. Some, shouted Nick?? She's a dead ringer for Brooke. Taylor laughed at Nick, and could tell that Nick was besides himself with curiosity. Let's go say Hi, said Nick. No...no no no, said Taylor. Why not said Nick? Because it's none of our business, that's why, said Taylor. Nick told Taylor about seeing this same women in here yesterday for lunch, and how he thought it was uncanny how she resembled Brooke. You don't think that Eric is having a fling do you, asked Nick. Now don't go jumping to conclusions Sailor, said Taylor. Maybe it's a business lunch.
Eric and Lindsay had both ordered grilled chicken salads. They were chit chatting about how Eric had met Beth in college, and how things ended with their relationship. Well, the way you explain what happened, is exactly what my mother said on her tape she left me, explained Lindsay. What I don't understand is why Beth never told me about you, said Eric. Well, sometimes women can feel desperate, said Lindsay. From the sounds of things, Beth thought that you had moved on, and didn't want to ruin your marriage. I find that admirable, said Lindsay. It does sound like Beth, said Eric. But she had to know that I would've stood by her, and helped taken care of you,....I mean, the baby. Eric didn't want to jump ahead of himself. Lindsay could tell that he was holding back a little. She didn't blame him. She didn't want to get her hopes up either, just to have them dashed.
Just then, Eric nearly fainted when he saw Taylor and Nick approaching their table. Well hello Eric, said Taylor. Hello to you too said Eric, as he got up to hug Taylor. Eric and Nick's relationship was strained, but he eeaked out a hello to Nick as well. Nick put out his hand and Eric shook it. Lindsay could see the tension between Eric and Nick. Eric introduced the couple to Lindsay, and Lindsay remembered Taylor from dinner last night at Cafe Rouse. She also remembered the name Nick Marone, and digested every inch of the man. He was drop dead gorgeous, with a little rough the edges here and there. So this is the man that Brooke Logan had been involved with, she thought to herself. Not bad...not bad indeed. So, said Nick, what brings you to these here parts. Nick knew that sounded stupid, but he found himself so nervous around the attractive stranger. Eric tried not to fumble, and stated that he was here having a lunch meeting with a new buyer. Lindsay took his lead, and mentioned that she had heard that Chuck's had the best grilled chicken salads in LA. Nick laughed, but Taylor was not fooled. She was watching Eric, and knew that this was no ordinary lunch meeting. But she played along. Eric looked nervous. Lindsay thought it weird that Dr. Hayes was with BOTH of the men in Brooke Logan's life. Lindsay could see that Taylor was catching on to their "act", so she herself interrupted and said that she had to catch a plane back to Phoenix to report back to work at McBane Enterprises. Nick knew that name, and he thought it odd that McBane Enterprises would have business with a design firm, as McBane Enterprises dealt with the shipping industry. Nick said his goodbyes, and was suspicious of the encounter with Eric, but didn't let Taylor know. She had her own suspicions, but they were both completely different in their opinions.
Whew...that was close, said Eric. Lindsay could see that Eric was uncomfortable. I'm sorry Eric, said Lindsay. Had I know....I wouldn't have picked this place. That's okay, said Eric. The news will come out soon enough, IF you are my daughter. I just don't want anyone to know until we are sure. With that Eric paid the tab and they both walked out the door. Eric was more than nervous that Taylor had seen him. He was sure that Taylor would run to Stephanie.
Nick was not himself the rest of the day. He couldn't get his mind off the beautiful stranger. Taylor could tell that he was lost in his thoughts. She suggested they go back in, saying she had a headache. Nick was kind of relieved. He wanted to investigate why a women from McBane Enterprises was having lunch with Eric Forrester. He knew about the take over attempt his father Massimo had tried with McBane years ago. But McBane had thwarted their attempts. Why would she be here now coozing up with Forrester??? Nick wouldn't rest until he found the answers.

Lindsay had just got off the phone with her Assistant Lisa. The board was growing restless because of her absense. She told Lisa to tell them that she just needed to take a break. She would check in daily, but had some things she needed to take care of. Lisa was so efficient. And very caring. Lisa was basically the only real friend that Lindsay had.
Lindsay was courious about all the intertwinded relationships in Eric's life. She thought it odd that Brooke's finance was dining with his ex-wife, and then that ex-wife was having lunch with one of Brooke's ex-husband's. Hollywood, she said to herself as she walked out on the patio. Lindsay hadn't heard from Eric in a couple of days. She had hoped she hadn't scared him away. She decided that he was just busy getting ready for his son's wedding. Was there even going to BE a wedding she thought?
__________________________
Taylor made a surprise stop off at Forrester Originals. Meagan told her that Eric was busy, but she let herself in Eric's office anyways. Stephanie and Eric were going over wedding plans, and Taylor let it slip that she thought that Ridge had called off the wedding. Stephanie let out a whoop, and Eric just rolled his eyes at her antics. What you make you think that, asked Eric? Well, Ridge and I had dinner the other night, and he told me that he was having second thoughts, said Taylor. Stephanie was extatic, and asked if that meant' that Ridge and her were getting back together? No, Stephanie. That is not what it means, said Taylor, although deep down inside, Taylor was hopeful that Brooke and Ridge would NOT get married. Well what did Ridge say, asked Eric? Look, I don't want to get involved in this. I shouldn't have said anything, said Taylor. Too late, said Stephanie, gleaming with the prospect. What DID he say, asked Stephanie? Ridge is just worried that Brooke still has feelings for Nick, said Taylor. And I don't blame him. They did break off their marriage rather quickly, stated Eric. Stephanie turned to Eric and said, yes....and we don't really know why that is, now do we? Taylor said that she didn't know why either, as Nick has never told her the details. Eric knew, because Bridget had confided in him, but he wasn't about to expose his daughter to these two women. He played dumb and said that Brooke and Ridge were fine and that they WERE going to get married in 3 days. Then he excused them both as he had to finish the last minute touches on Brooke's wedding dress. Actually, he was more concerned with getting Taylor out of office than anything else. Taylor turned and winked at Eric, without Stephanie noticing. Eric blushed, and knew that Taylor was holding a secret over his head. Stephanie left with Taylor, and Eric let out a sigh of relief. He wished that Peter would call with those paternity results.
Taylor...wait, said Stephanie. I want to talk to you further about your dinner date with Ridge. Stephanie and Taylor went into Stephanie's office, and Taylor informed Stephanie that it wasn't a date. We just had dinner, as two old friends, explained Taylor. Stephanie wasn't convinced. You still love Ridge, don't you, asked Stephanie. Of course I still love Ridge. But he has never forgiven me of the James viasco, whined Taylor. I told you not to tell him, didn't I, said Stephanie. It was wrong to keep it from him Stephanie, said Taylor. I didn't want that in the middle of my marriage. Well, that is old news now my dear, said Stephanie. Now we need to concentrate on stopping this wedding. Taylor just rolled her eyes at her old friend. She knew that look in Stephanie's eyes all too well.
_____________________________
Beth and Stephen agreed to sit with Hope and RJ while Brooke ran errands. Beth was sitting on the sofa, alone with her thoughts. Beth hated Paris. She missed California and especially her children. The Grandchildren had grown so much, and she hated missing all their important milestones. She resented Stephen for moving them there. She had stuck by her marriage for the sake of being loyal. But she was done. She hadn't told Stephen yet, but she was NOT going back to Paris, divorce or no divorce. He could stay there as far as she was concerned. Beth watched as Stephen was playing games with the kids. She just hated telling Brooke and the rest of her children that her marriage to their father was over. They had agreed to go through the motions for Brooke's sake. But Beth couldn't wait for the chirade to be over. She wanted to move on with her life. She didn't hate Stephen. She was just tired of him. Tired of the lack of passion in her marriage. Tired of putting his needs ahead of her own. Paris made her cranky. California was her life. Her thoughts drifted off. She thought about Eric.

Brooke decided to stop off at the office and visit with Ridge. They really hadn't spent much time together since her parents got into town. She wanted to let him know that all the plans were coming together beautifully for their upcoming wedding. Things will be as they should be she thought. Ridge wasn't in his office, and she couldn't find Maegan, so she decided to wait for him. He'd be along soon she thought. She sat on the sofa in his office, and realized how exhausted she was. With entertaining her parents and planning the wedding, as well as helping run a fashion house, she decided to close her eyes and relax.
Before she knew it, she was asleep....and dreaming.
Nick...Nick, where are you, Brooke cried in her sleep. All she could see were clouds. The fog was like a thick soup. Brooke kept calling out his name, but she couldn't find him. Then she thought she saw him, but he was running. Running away from her. No...wait, he wasn't running from her. He was running from a strange man. He was chasing Nick, and he got closer and closer. Nick looked scared, and kept running. Brooke kept calling out Nick's name, but he wouldn't answer her.
LOGAN, Ridge shouted. LOGAN, wake up!!! Ridge yelled angrily at Brooke as he shook her to wake her, and Brooke woke up with a start. She set up and saw Ridge walking towards his desk. He had an angry look on his face. Ridge...I'm sorry, I must have dozed off. Ridge didn't look at her. What's the matter Ridge, asked Brooke? I think we need to call off our wedding Logan, stated Ridge with a stern look on his face. Now he was looking at Brooke. She felt like he was looking straight through her. But why Ridge, asked Brooke, with a tear welling in her eye. Did you not just hear yourself, asked Ridge angrily? Hear what, asked Brooke? Unknowing to Brooke, she was calling out Nick's name in her dream state, and Ridge heard her. You were calling out for Nick in your sleep Logan, said Ridge. Brooke just sat there, not knowing what to say. Ridge walked over to Brooke and sat down beside her. Look Logan, I'm not mad or anything, said Ridge. I have know deep down inside that you still had feelings for Nick. I tried to bury it and believe that you and I could go on as per usual. What are you saying Ridge, cried Brooke? I'm saying that I don't think we should get married, said Ridge with a firm tone. He loved Brooke, but he wasn't about to be played the fool. But I love you Ridge, cried Brooke some more. But you still love him, Ridge yelled. I don't think you have come to terms with that fact, stated Ridge. Brooke sat there stunned. Everything was going along smoothly, just as it should be. But what about RJ and Hope, asked Brooke? What about them, asked Ridge again, angrily? Are you only marrying me for them, asked Ridge? By now, have the office could hear Ridge yelling. In came Stephanie with a bound, and Taylor wasn't far behind her. What is going on in here, asked Stephanie. This is none of your business, stated Brooke firmly as she stood up. Brooke saw Taylor walk in, and was not happy to see her, not in this set of circumstances. We could hear you all the way down the hall, stated Taylor. Ridge looked at both of the intruders and told them both that he and Brooke are just hashing out some things, and didn't' want interrupted. Stephanie and Taylor just looked at each other, and Stephanie grinned. She looked over at Brooke, who was giving her dirty looks. Stephanie grabbed Taylor by the arm and said, let's go honey....everything is working out just fine. Ridge and Brooke just looked at each other, not knowing what else to say.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Brooke came home and looked devastated. She had gone down to the grounds at Forrester Creations to get herself together, before returning home. She saw the kids playing with her father, and was grateful her parents were here. Beth immediately knew something was wrong, and went upstairs with Brooke to talk.
Brooke told her mother what had happened, and she started to cry again. Beth held her daughter, and then told Brooke to stop it. Brooke looked shocked as she watched her mother back up from her. Brooke...get ahold of yourself, stated Beth firmly. But mom, this is the most horrible thing that could've happened to me, cried Brooke. NO IT'S NOT, yelled Beth. Beth said she was sorry for yelling at her daughter, and brought her tone down a peg. Brooke, honey. How many times have you and Ridge done this, asked Beth? Brooke sat down on the bed and whimpered, I don't know. Too many I guess. And how many times has it not worked out, asked Beth? But it was always because of someone else, said Brooke. But that's just it Brooke, when are you going to decide on something for yourself, asked Beth? Of course it's noble to get married to have a good life for your children. But take it from me. Don't marry for someone else. Marry for yourself. Beth broke down and told Brooke about her plans to divorce her father. And the reasons why. Do you have passion with Ridge, asked Beth? We've always been able to find that passion mother, stated Brooke. But what about with Nick, asked Beth? Brooke knew where her mother was going with this. Yes, mom, Nick and I have a lot of passion for each other, stated Brooke. Now, is it the same kind of passion that you and Ridge have, asked Beth? Brooke thought for a minute, and just looked at her mother.
Brooke paced around her room, and started to spill her feelings. Beth listened attentively to her daughter. With Ridge, I feel secure, stated Brooke. We know each other. We can finish each other's sentences. I always turn to him when I am in trouble. But with Nick, I never know what to expect. And it scares me mom. I've never felt that before. It's something new and different everyday.
Beth knew exactly what Brooke was telling her, as she felt the same way about Stephen.
Look Brooke, stated Beth. I think it's better that you and Ridge don't marry. It sounds to me like you are settling. Settling for what has become a habit for you. Nick scares you because it's new and different. It's a relationship where you never know what is going to happen next. You are afraid to let go, because I think you are scared to death to allow yourself to be loved by anyone other than Ridge.
Brooke absorbed all the words that her mother was telling her. Deep down inside she knew that her mother was right. But how does she get past the betrayal? She didn't want anyone to know what happened with Bridget and Nick. She loved her daughter too much for that. Brooke also knew that she never completely let go of Ridge during her marriage to Nick. And that she was partly responsible for him turning to Bridget.
Beth hugged her daughter and told her to pull herself together. She had a lot of thinking to do, and she would be there for her to help her get through this. Brooke was so glad her mother was here for her. Brooke indeed had a lot of things to think about.

I LOVE IT Gin!!!!!! Eric and Beth's love child, that is a twist that I can deal with. So many wonderful possibilities. I really like that she, in her own right, is successful and in charge of her own company. Patiently waiting for Stephanies reaction!! Keep up the great work!!

Eric was pacing the floor as Lindsay sat and watched him.
Where is he, asked Eric?
He'll be along, said Lindsay, trying not to fret herself.
Peter had called and said he had the test results. Lindsay was so scared and excited at the same time. If Eric wasn't her father, she'd have to start looking all over again. She dreaded the thought. Eric was such a wonderful man. She was shocked at how easy he was to love, and how easily he loved her back. They only knew each other for a few days, but it felt like she knew him her whole life.
Lindsay answered the door, and there stood Peter with a sad look on his face.
Sorry I'm late, said Peter. Traffic was hell, and I had to wait forever to find a parking spot.
Lindsay didn't like the mood Peter was in.
Bad news I take it, Eric said...looking like someone had just kicked him.
Peter walked towards the window, and Eric and Lindsay couldn't see the cheesy grin on his face. He was careful to change his expression back to sad before he turned to face them. He opened the envelope and pulled out a document.
Here....said Peter, as he handed the document to Lindsay. Lindsay wasn't looking forward to bad news. She looked it over and tears started running down her face.
What is it Lindsay, asked a worried Eric? He took the document from Lindsay's hands and read it over.
Peter just stood their beaming.
Does this mean what I think it does, asked Eric??
Yep...your the proud father of a baby girl exclaimed Peter, with a twinkle in his eyes.
He'd been teasing them.
Lindsay wiped away her tears and looked over at Eric. Eric was so happy. He walked over and grabbed Lindsay into a big bear hug.
Peter couldn't help himself, as he walked over and joined in the hug fest. This was the best part of his job, he thought.
The group broke apart and Eric asked, well, what do we do now?
I want to meet my mother, stated Lindsay.
Eric knew that Beth was in town. I can arrange that, said Eric as he pulled Lindsay in for another hug. But I want to keep you to myself for a little bit longer. Eric knew in his heart that he had to face Stephanie with the news as well, and was not looking forward to it.
Eric looked over at Peter and walked up to him. He put out his hand and shook Peter's, and then hugged him. Thank you so much Peter, said Eric.
Peter was astonished at how firm of a shake that Eric had, considering he was a dress maker. No problem Eric, said Peter. This is what I live for.
Lindsay walked over and gave him a huge hug and more tears flowed from her face. Thank you Peter, said Lindsay.
Peter's eyes started tearing up and he just wanted out of there. He wasn't use to all these tears flowing, and was uncomfortable with it. Dry up little girl, Peter said as he held Lindsay's face in his hands. He kissed her on the forehead. Go find your mother, and if you need me, I'm a phone call away.
With that Peter excused himself. As he shut the door behind him, he felt sad. He loved Lindsay. Not so much as a lover, but as a dear friend. He hoped that he would see her again soon.

Brooke was out on the patio having a cup of tea. It was a crisp, but sunny day. She heard the patio door opened, and turned to see her mother.
You didn't eat much for breakfast, stated Beth.
I know, but I just don't have much of an appetite, stated Brooke.
The kids are still eating, stated Beth.
Are you okay honey, asked Beth? Brooke looked tired, and sad.
Yeah, I'm okay, stated Brooke. I didn't sleep much. I kept going over our conversation in my mind. I've decided that I'm going to cancel the wedding.
Will you keep an eye on the kids for me, asked Brooke?
Of course I will honey, stated Beth.
I'm going to go talk to Ridge.
Have you decided on anything regarding Nick, asked Beth?
No, stated Brooke. Not yet. I've hurt him bad, but he has hurt me as well. I still love him mom, but I'm not sure if there is any hope.
Take it slow honey, said Beth. She hugged her daughter. She knew how difficult this decision was for Brooke.
You don't have to rush into anything, said Beth as she looked at Brooke. Take one step at a time. If it is mean't to be with Nick, it will happen.

Nick had gotten to the office early. He fretted all night wondering about the mystery women from McBane's. And why was Eric Forrester eating lunch with her, he questioned? He had some business contacts in Phoenix, and had made some phone calls.
So, McBane was dead, and the beautiful women was his daughter. She was in charge of McBane Enterprises. Hmmmmm, Nick thought to himself. He couldn't get the thoughts of her likeness to Brooke out of his mind.
According to his contacts, Ms. McBane had been in the LA area for a week now. They had told him of no business dealings they knew of that she had with Forrester Creations. McBane Enterprises was one of Marone's biggest competitors. Their dealings went way back. Nick knew that Massimo hated McBane. Nick knew of the history. His father had wanted to control the market on imports from Mexico and South America. But McBane was a tough rival.
Maybe Eric is having an affair, thought Nick as he paced and took a drag off his cigar. He laughed at the thought, and thought what an old devil Eric was. He didn't blame him. Nick never could figure out why Eric tethered himself to Stephanie. Nick wasn't happy with the way Eric treated his mother.

Taylor was just going over some notes from her last patient when her secretary buzzed her on the intercom. Dr. Hayes, you have a visitor. Who is it, asked Taylor? He said his name is Dante and that you would know him, explained the secretary.
Taylor hung up the phone and opened the door to greet him.
What a nice surprise, Taylor said as she hugged Dante.
Dante looked as gorgeous as ever, in his Italian suit.
They hugged and Taylor led him into her office.
What brings you to town, asked Taylor?
I'm here to spend some time with my son, stated Dante. And to see if there is still a chance for me and Bridget.
You do know that Bridget and Nick are not together, asked Taylor?
Yeah, Felicia told me, said Dante.
I've never gotten over Bridget, said Dante. I am still in love with her.
Taylor looked at her young friend and could see that he was telling her the truth. She could see the love for Bridget in his eyes when he spoke about her.
Well, I know that Bridget is single, and that she is spending a lot of time working. Why don't you call her and invite her out to lunch or dinner, asked Taylor?
I was thinking about that, said Dante. You know our relationship ended kind of badly. She lost our baby, and .....
She wasn't over Nick, said Taylor. But I think she's moved forward with her life now. Give it a shot, what do you have to lose?
Thanks Taylor, said Dante, as he gave her a hug. I knew I could get some good advice from you. I'm going to call Bridget.

Stephanie, Eric and Ridge were in Ridge's office. The topic of conversation was Brooke, as usual.
Mother, leave it alone, said Ridge. He was sick of his mother's interference, but out of respect for her, never ever gave her hell for it.
Ridge is right Stephanie, said Eric. When are you going to let Ridge run his own life?
As long as Ridge continues to allow that women into his life, I am going to pound it into his brain that she's no good for him, stated Stephanie. And what do you have to offer anyways, Eric? You've been off in la la land for the past couple of days, said Stephanie with her usual sarcastic tone.
Eric just ignored Stephanie's taunts. He did have a lot on his mind right now, and wasn't in the mood for Stephanie. With the news that morning about Lindsay, he knew that he had to meet with Beth.
All I am saying is that Ridge is a grown man, and it's time you cut the apron strings, stated Eric.
It's true that I'm having second thoughts about marrying Brooke, said Ridge. But that doesn't mean that I don't love her and that I will stand here and let you rip her apart.
I'm use to Stephanie ripping me apart, stated Brooke.
Brooke had walked in unannounced and had heard just enough to know that Stephanie was once again degrading her to Ridge.
Stephanie rolled her eyes at Brooke as Brooke walked over to hug Eric. Good morning Brooke said Eric, as he hugged her. He thought to himself how much Lindsay reminded him of Brooke. And that he was about to break the news that Brooke quite possibly had another sister.
Morning Logan, stated Ridge, as he gave Brooke a quick hug and a slight kiss on the cheek. Ridge was quite upset with Brooke, but tried to hide it from his mother.
Ridge, can we have a few minutes alone, asked Brooke? We need to discuss the wedding.
There isn't going to be a wedding, my dear, said Stephanie as she pointed her finger at Brooke.
Stephanie, let's go, said Eric firmly. Let's give these two some space.
With that Eric and Stephanie walked out of Ridge's office, but not before Stephanie turned and laughed at Brooke.
Ignore her Logan, stated Ridge. So what is there to discuss?
I was up all night Ridge, stated Brooke. I've been doing a lot of thinking. Brooke was now pacing back and forth nervously.
It's not that I don't love you Ridge, because I do, said Brooke. I probably always will. But I think that we are just going through the motions, and that I was marrying you for all the wrong reasons.
Rj...and Hope, said Ridge.
Well, that's part of it, said Brooke. She didn't want to admit to Ridge that he was right about her feelings for Nick. But he had read her like a book. And that she was with Ridge because she was use to him, and it felt comfortable.
It's also Popeye too, right, asked Ridge with a snark?
Ridge, I don't want to hurt you, stated Brooke lovingly.
I'll never understand the attraction, stated Ridge.
I'm not going to stand here and try to explain my feelings for Nick to you, stated Brooke. I quite frankly don't know exactly how I feel for Nick right now.
How could you? He had an affair behind your back with your daughter, said Ridge hatefully.
But don't you see Ridge, asked Brooke? I got so scared when I saw you moving on with Donna, that it freaked me out. I don't know what came over me. I never ever gave Nick and I a chance, because I couldn't let go of my feelings for you. He's a good man. He loves Hope and rj. There were so many misunderstandings and so much confusion.
Bottom line Logan, said Ridge interrupting Brooke. He didn't want to hear Brooke talk about Nick. You have feelings for both of us. And until you can decide who you want to be with, or what you want from me, you'll never be happy. I don't want to marry you and know that you still want to be with Nick.
I don't want that either Ridge, said Brooke. She felt bad. She didn't want to hurt Ridge. But the pull she had towards Nick was too strong. It wasn't fair to Ridge, and it wasn't right for her.
I'll make the calls, said Brooke. A tear ran down her face as she stood and looked at Ridge.
Ridge walked over and gave his Logan a hug. He wasn't happy. He hated Nick Marone. But he was resigned to the fact that Brooke loved Nick. Ridge was ready to move on and he knew that he had to let Brooke go, for both their sakes.
_______________________
The news of Brooke and Ridge's wedding being cancelled swept through LA like the wind. Ridge told his parent's, and Stephanie was ecstatic. She raced over to see Taylor with the news.
OMG...So, they are finally over, stated Taylor in amazement.
Thank God for small miracles, said Stephanie gleefully.
Now's your chance, stated Stephanie.
My chance for what, asked Taylor?
To move in and build your relationship back with Ridge, stated Stephanie.
Look Stephanie, I do still have feelings for Ridge. But he hurt me badly, and I just don't know how I can get past that. Besides, it appears that he still has feelings for Brooke. I don't want near that, stated Taylor firmly.
But don't you see, stated Stephanie. Now is the perfect time. He's going to need you to help pick up the pieces.
You mean because he's vulnerable, asked Taylor? She loved Stephanie as a friend, but she was as tactful as a bomb. I don't want you interfering, do you hear me, asked Taylor?
I won't need to, stated Stephanie triumphantly. Now that the Slut is going to be out of Ridge's life, it will only be natural that Ridge turns to the one women he has always loved above all others.
Stephanie, if Ridge and I are mean't to be together, it will happen. I'm not so sure that is what I want, stated Taylor. Ridge had hurt Taylor. Taylor felt that telling Ridge the truth about James was the right thing to do. It hurt that he treated her so horribly, when Taylor had forgiven Ridge of so many things.

Jackie Marone was busy looking through racks of clothing and trying to decide what should go where with an associate. Fall was one of Jackie's favorite seasons. She loved the colors and the fabrics.
She didn't see Brooke come in the door.
Brooke spotted Jackie with her head in a rack of clothing and quietly sneaked up behind her.
I'll take that one, stated Brooke.
Jackie turned with a start, as she knew the familiar voice.
Brooke, exclaimed Jackie. She turned and greeted Brooke with a huge hug and a big smile.
What are you doing here, asked Jackie? You've got to be so busy with all your wedding plans. Do you need a little something for the honeymoon?
Can we talk asked Brooke?
Jackie could see by the look on Brooke's face that something was wrong.
Of course my dear, stated Jackie. Let's go into my office.
Jackie loved Brooke. She wasn't happy with Brooke's decision to marry Ridge, as she wanted her with Nick. But she loved Brooke enough to allow her to make her own decisions.
What's the matter my dear, asked Jackie as she shut her office door?
There's not going to be a wedding, stated Brooke firmly.
Jackie had a hard time holding back her glee, but for Brooke's sake, she held back to joy in hearing the news.
Oh honey, what happened, asked Jackie, sure that Ridge had done something horrible to Brooke?
What has the Pig done now, asked Jackie, rolling her eyes?
It was no secret to Brooke how Jackie felt about Ridge. Actually, stated Brooke, Ridge really hasn't done anything.
Then what has happened, asked Jackie, now showing some concern. STEPHANIE, stated Jackie. That witch has done something I'm sure of it.
No, stated Brooke. No, Stephanie has been her usual self. But she's not the reason.
It's Nick, stated Brooke.
Jackie's heart almost exploded when she heard those words.
Nick, asked Jackie, again, hiding her glee?
Brooke loved Jackie. She was the one women in her life, besides her mother and sisters, who hadn't judged her for her choices and mistakes. Jackie loved Brooke unconditionally, and Brooke knew that she could trust her. True, Jackie was almost obsessed with Nick as Stephanie was with Ridge, but it was different. Jackie was more loving, and when it counted, she allowed Nick to make his own decisions.
Jackie was sitting in a chair at this point, however; Brooke was pacing nervously.
I don't know where to begin Jackie, stated Brooke.
Jackie listened patiently as Brooke explained all the details as to why her and Ridge as ended their relationship.
Your mother is a very smart Lady, stated Jackie. I think she has given you some great advice, and I would listen to her if I were you, she said to Brooke with a wink.
It's not that easy, stated Brooke. I still don't know what to do about Nick. I do love him so, but I am still smarting from our breakup. I am also feeling guilty for my part in it.
Jackie knew what had happened. She didn't blame either Nick or Brooke for it.
Brooke....you have taken the first step towards getting your life back on track, stated Jackie.
But what if Nick and I can't reconnect, asked Brooke?
Well, stated Jackie, you won't know if you don't ask.
What, do I just walk up to Nick and tell him that I want him back, asked Brooke?
It could be that simple, stated Jackie.
I know my son, stated Jackie. I know that he still loves you deeply. But I also know that he is a stubborn man. He's hurting. But go to him Brooke. Be honest with him. Tell him what you are feeling. What you are REALLY feeling.
Brooke wasn't sure what to thing at this point. But she trusted Jackie, and was grateful to her for being so loving and caring.
I'll go to Nick, stated Brooke. I'll lay it all out on the line.
The two hugged and said their goodbyes.
Jackie watched Brooke walk out the door and smiled. She wasn't positive that Nick and Brooke would get back together, but she was hopeful.

Eric walked up the path to Brooke's front door apprehensively. He tried to knock, but backed up and started walking back to his car.
How do I lay this on Beth, Eric asked? What do I say to her? I haven't seen her in years.
Eric shook his self and turned back around. No, I've got to do this, for Lindsay's sake.
He knocked at the door and was happy to see Beth answering the door. She looked lovely as usual.
Eric, asked Beth with a shocked voice.
Beth...said Eric lovingly. You look stunning.
Come in...said Beth. Beth couldn't help but notice has dashing Eric looked.
How long has it been, asked Eric as he hugged his love.
I think it's been years, stated Beth.
Wow...look at you. As radiant as ever, said Eric. Eric looked Beth over and all the love he had felt for her over the years came flooding back.
Thank you said Beth. You look wonderful.
What brings you by, asked Beth? Brooke isn't here.
I know, stated Eric. I know that Brooke and Ridge have called off their wedding, Eric said sadly.
Well, I think it's for the best, stated Beth.
I suppose you are right, said Eric.
But that's not why I am here, said Eric.
Oh, said Beth. Then what brings you here?
Are you free to talk asked Eric?
Yes, Stephen took the kids to the park, said Beth. I'm alone.
Eric felt crushed when he heard the name Stephen. He felt ashamed for wishing that Stephen and Beth weren't together.
Beth led Eric to the sofa, and asked if he needed anything to drink.
No...I'm fine, said Eric.
Beth could see how nervous Eric was.
What's wrong Eric, asked Beth.
Eric couldn't sit, and he stood up and walked over to the fireplace.
I don't even know where to begin, stated Eric.
Beth walked over to Eric and put a reassuring hand on his shoulder. Just start at the beginning Eric, stated Beth.
Eric turned around and let out a sigh.
Eric began to tell Beth of the beautiful stranger and the private detective that came to visit him.
As Eric went on and on, Beth knew where Eric was going.
So, you know about your daughter, asked Beth, feeling ashamed and scared and happy all at the same time?
Yes...yes I do said Eric.
I'm sorry Eric, stated Beth. Tears were welling up in Beth's eyes and Eric could see the pain on her face.
But why, asked Eric. Why didn't you come to me with this all those years ago?
I couldn't, stated Beth.
You had already married Stephanie when I found out I was pregnant, and I didn't want to interfere, stated Beth.
But Beth....I loved you, said Eric. I know now that I only married Stephanie because of the baby.
But don't you see, asked Beth? That is exactly what I didn't want to happen with us. I didn't want you to chose between me and Stephanie because of a child.
Eric had so many emotions that came flooding out.
Things could've been so different for us, said Eric. You DO know that Ridge isn't mine, don't you?
Yes, Brooke has told me, said Beth.
Wanting to move the conversation off of her, Beth asked about her daughter.
So, are you sure that this women is your daughter, asked Beth?
Yes, the tests are conclusive, confirmed Eric.
What's she like, asked Beth?
She's magnificant, beemed Eric. She's so much like Brooke it's uncanny. She's warm and beautiful. Long blonde hair and green eyes.
Beth remembered all those years ago. Giving birth to a beautiful baby, and holding her but for a mere couple of minutes. She also remembered when Brooke was born, how similar they looked.
She sounds wonderful, said Beth, as tears rolled down her face.
I've always wonderered what her life was like, and what has become of her. I think about her every day, said Beth. Beth had always held a private vigle in her mind on the birthdate of her daughter. Beth had held the secret about her daughter's birth and had spoken to no one of her, except a few close family members, who were long gone by now. She thought the secret would go with her to her grave.
You'd be so proud, said Eric. He explained about her childhood, and the parents who raised her.
She wants to meet you, said Eric.
Beth felt relief that her age old secret was finally out. She started to cry and Eric walked over and held her.
Again Beth said she was sorry, and asked Eric to forgive her. She tried to explain her circumstances, and Eric would hear nothing of it. He explained that he understood why she hid the baby from him. He felt more love for this women then he ever thought was possible. She truely did love him, and sacrificed her happiness for him.
Dry your tears, my dear, Eric said to Beth as he brushed them off her cheeks.
What if she is angry at me, asked Beth? What if she doesn't like me?
She's not angry at you Beth, explained Eric. She just wants to know the truth, and wants a family so badly.
When can we meet, asked Beth.
I'll call you, and take care of the arrangements, said Eric.
As she shut the door, she turned and felt like she was in shock. Beth was about to come face to face with her long lost daughter. How do I break the news to my family, and especially Stephen thought Beth, her heart racing. ___________________________-

Brooke had called her mother, and asked her to watch over the kids. She was going to talk to Nick, and tell him about the wedding. She wanted to be the first to tell him. Brooke wasn't sure what she was going to say to Nick.
Brooke's car pulled up to the Marina, and she saw that the lights were on at The Shady Marlin. She just sat there for a minute, and tried to compose herself. She remembered how she found out about Nick and Bridget. She shook those thoughts out of her mind.
Nick was busy tinkering around on his boat. It was a beautiful evening. He was thinking about going for a ride. It always cleared his head. His thoughts were on the events of the next day. He couldn't believe that he was about to lose Brooke forever. To the dress maker at that. STOP IT he yelled at himself. Brooke was no longer his, and the sooner he got that through his head, the better.
Brooke walked slowly towards The Shady Marlin. She could smell the familiar cigar smoke as she approached. She could hear Nick and was hesitant. But she dug deep into her soul and said to herself that it's time to take charge of her life. It didn't matter to her so much that Nick accepted her or not. Just that he would listen to her and hopefully understand.
Permission to come aboard Captain, asked Brooke.
Nick turned and saw the women of his dreams walk down the steps into the cabin. She was breathtaking. Brooke had on a beautiful green halter top that make her eyes sparkle and a pair of blue jeans that hugged every curve. Nick's heart skipped a beat, but he pretended that he could care less if she was there.
Shouldn't you be making plans for your wedding, asked Nick sarcastically?
Brooke didn't say a word, but walked slowly towards Nick.
Nick took a drag off his cigar and walked away from Brooke.
He acted busy and tried to think, all the while he was shaking.
You didn't answer me, said Nick.
Did you come here to add salt to my wounds asked Nick?
No, said Brooke softly.
Then why are you here, asked Nick, trying to sound perturbed?
You haven't heard, asked Brooke?
Heard what, asked Nick?
The wedding is off, stated Brooke. She walked up to Nick again, but he turned his back to her and walked up the steps.
Brooke followed.
I'm going out for a ride, so you might want to get off, said Nick, still keeping his back to Brooke. He didn't want her to see that he had just heard the greatest news that he had ever heard.
Can I go for a ride too, asked Brooke?
Nick turned, and angrily asked Brooke...What the hell are you doing Brooke?
I'm sorry, said Brooke. I'll go....and Brooke started to walk off the Marlin.
Brooke...wait, shouted Nick.
What happened, asked Nick?
Brooke walked back on the Marlin and just stood and looked at Nick.

Bridget was explaining how to take care of the wound to a mother. Her little boy had fallen off his bike and needed stitches applied to his chin. We see Bridget hand the boy a sucker, and telling him how brave he was. Bridget was just finishing up a 12 hour shift, and was looking forward to a hot bath and a relaxing evening at home.
Dante was walking down the hall, and saw Bridget at the nurse’s station, filling out paperwork, and dispensing orders to a nurse.
Oh my God, cried Bridget, as she saw the hunk coming closer. She couldn’t help but notice how good he looked. Dante had a huge grin on his face.
Hello beautiful, said Dante as he reached out to hug Bridget.
Look what the cat drug in, Bridget said with a laugh.
The nurse couldn’t help but stare at the gorgeous creature that stood before her.
How about a bite to eat, asked Dante? We can catch up on old times.
Well, I’m a little busy here, said Bridget hesitantly. Bridget loved Dante, but had never allowed herself to give in to her feelings. Nick was always her top priority.
The nurse butted in and explained that it was a slow night, and Bridget wasn’t really needed any longer.
Bridget shot a look at the nurse, and the nurse excused herself.
Come on Bridget….said Dante, what can it hurt to spend some time with an old friend.
Well, I am starving , explained Bridget. Give me a minute to change, and I’ll be right out. ______________________________________ Taylor was sitting alone on a plush sofa reading a book. She enjoyed some quiet time to herself. She laid the book down, and thought about Ridge and the wedding being cancelled. She let her thoughts drift off to her last wedding to Ridge, in the hospital. Stephanie had manipulated the whole thing. But Taylor didn’t care. She loved Ridge, and wanted her family back.
Taylor’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the doorbell.
Ridge, what a lovely surprise, stated Taylor.
Are you up for some company, asked Ridge?
Well, I’m just sitting here reading this book, stated Taylor. Come on in Ridge.
Are you hungry, asked Ridge. I brought over some Chinese take-out. I’ve got your favorite, Beef Tips and Broccoli.
Taylor hadn’t realized that dinner time had come and gone.
Sure, I could eat, said Taylor.
So, how are you Ridge, asked Taylor?
So you heard, asked Ridge? I’m sure Mother made a bee-line to give you the good news, Ridge said sarcastically.
Yes, Taylor said as she took a bite of broccoli. Stephanie came by my office today and told me about you and Brooke.
I’m sure she’s beside herself with joy, stated Ridge.
Well, if shouldn’t come as a surprise to you how Stephanie feels about Brooke, said Taylor. But how are you doing with all of this?
You knew it was coming Doc, said Ridge. Brooke and I had a talk today, and it’s for the best.
Taylor tried to study Ridge’s face, to see if there was anything she could glean from his eyes, that he wasn’t saying to her.
So, what happened, asked Taylor.
We were only going through the motions Doc, explained Ridge. She’s still in love with Nick. And I guess we were just together out of habit. Brooke has a tendency to run to me when she’s upset or troubled.
Taylor didn’t want to add insult to injury, but did imply that Brooke and Ridge were like two peas in a pod.
Isn’t that what you did when we broke up Ridge, asked Taylor?
Ridge just looked at Taylor, and realized that what she said was the truth.
You’re right Doc, affirmed Ridge. When I got upset with you when I found out about James, I ran to Brooke.
You two are like old comfortable shoes, explained Taylor. Taylor didn’t want to sound like a Shrink, but couldn’t help but put out some kind of diagnosis to fit the situation.
I think you and Brooke turn to each other when you don’t know where else to turn, said Taylor.
Is that your professional opinion Doc, asked Ridge…somewhat miffed.
No, said Taylor, trying to choose her words carefully.
Then what, asked Ridge?
I just think that you both use each other as a crutch, said Taylor. It’s easy and it’s safe. You don’t have to work on it. It takes no emotions or any effort.
Ridge wasn’t comfortable, and started to squirm in his chair.
Look Ridge, I’m not trying to make you feel bad, said Taylor. But you asked, and I think you need to take a long hard look at yourself, and decide what you want out of life.
Well, I know that I won’t be put in the situation where I’m second best, proclaimed Ridge, getting up out of his chair.
Taylor got up and walked towards Ridge. She could see that Ridge was hurting, and wanted to reach out to him. But she herself was hurting, and didn’t want to open herself up to more pain.
Ridge, I know that you will always have feelings for Brooke said Taylor. You share a history, and a bond because of RJ. There’s nothing wrong with that. But I think you need to move on and let go of the fantasy that you have of a family and a future with Brooke. Taylor didn’t want to appear self-serving, but genuinely cared for Ridge and wanted to offer some help.
Why are you being so nice to me Taylor, asked Ridge.
Taylor didn’t know what to say.
I care about you Ridge, said Taylor. I don’t like to see you in pain.
Even after how badly I treated you, asked Ridge.
Our relationship is a separate issue Ridge, said Taylor. I’m not going to lie to you and say I didn’t see this coming. This is what always happens with you and Brooke.
Ridge just stood their and let out a sigh.
Look Ridge, said Taylor. I don’t have all the answers. My God, my life is a mess. I’m the last person that you should be turning to.
But I love ya too Doc, said Ridge. And you always have a way of seeing things so much clearer than I do.
Well, I don’t know about that, said Taylor, trying not to let Ridge’s words affect her.
My advice to you, is to just let it go, said Taylor. Take each day step by step, and try to remain positive. Life will take care of itself.
Ridge looked at Taylor, and couldn’t help but notice how beautiful she looked to him.
Thanks Doc, said Ridge. You’ve given me a lot to ponder.
Hey, no problem Ridge, said Taylor. Thanks for the company and the Chinese.
Ridge gave Taylor a hug and kissed her forehead.
See ya Doc, said Ridge, as she shut the door behind him.
Taylor leaned on the door after she shut it, and had a smile on her face. Maybe there WAS a chance for her and Ridge.

Eric was standing out on the terrace looking out at the city lights. He was trying to wrap the day’s events around his mind.
Penny for your thoughts, said Stephanie as she handed a glass of wine to Eric.
Sorry Stephanie. I’m just not in the mood to talk this evening, said Eric with an irritable tone.
You hardly said a word over dinner, said Stephanie. Please tell me you aren’t upset over Ridge and Brooke’s wedding being cancelled. Stephanie had the usual bitter attitude towards Brooke that Eric despised.
Well, you’ll have to excuse me if I don’t share the same joy at watching my son anguish away in pain, said Eric angrily. He lied as he said those words to Stephanie. Sure, he WASN’T happy that Brooke and Ridge were over and didn‘t like to see either of them in pain. But his thoughts were not on them this evening.
Excuse me Stephanie, but I think I’ll retire for the evening. I’ve suddenly developed an excruciating headache. Eric wanted nothing more than to spill his guts to Stephanie, and let the circumstances play out as they may. But he had to ensure that Lindsay was definitely the same child that Beth had given up all those years ago.
Eric sat on the bed and made a phone call to Peter. Peter agreed to help them run the DNA tests on Beth and Lindsay. One more detail to take care of, Eric said to himself as he laid his head on his pillow. _____________________________________
The night was beautiful. Crisp and chilly. It was so clear out, and the stars made a breathtaking canopy over the ocean. Nick could see that Brooke was shivering, so he went down to his cabin and found her a warm blanket. They hadn’t spoken for over 30 minutes. Brooke had curled up on a bench and just let Nick steer the boat out to sea. All you could hear was the sea churning inside itself, and the boat rocking harmonically with it.
Thank you, said Brooke softly.
Nick stopped the boat, and walked back over to Brooke. He had a determined look on his face, and Brooke knew that it was time to cough up some answers.
She patted the spot next to her, and Nick took her lead and sat down beside her.
So, what happened this time Brooke, asked Nick? He didn’t dare look at her. All he wanted to do was take her in his arms and hold her. But he wasn’t about to let his guard down. If he looked into those green eyes, he was a goner. He kept his head down and stared at his feet.
I don’t know where to begin, stated Brooke. Brooke wasn’t sure what to say to Nick. Her emotions were all over the place. She felt bad for what had happened with Ridge, and she felt bad for hurting Nick. But she loved him, and wanted somehow to make him understand. And she was still hurting herself for his betrayal.
Just put it out there, said Nick. In his best pirate voice, he bellowed, Spill your guts, or I‘ll make ye walk the plank. Nick tried to let Brooke know that she could tell him anything by injecting a little humor.
Brooke giggled, and it had helped to break the ice.
Ridge and I had a long talk, explained Brooke as she wrung her hands. We both decided that I was marrying him for all the wrong reasons.
And what were those reasons, asked Nick?
Hope, Rj, ….and after a long pause, and you, said Brooke.
Me…asked Nick?
Yes…sighed Brooke. You. Ridge made me realize that I’m not over you.
Well, he’s not as stupid as I thought he was, laughed Nick.
Nick…said Brooke. This whole thing has been hard on Ridge.
With that Brooke stood up and started to pace.
Sorry, but I can’t for the life of me feel one ounce of sympathy for the dress maker, said Nick sarcastically. He’s hurt you so many times, I can’t count them all.
Brooke stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Nick. They met each other’s eyes for the first time in nearly an hour.
What about how you hurt me, asked Brooke angrily?
And what about how you hurt me, asked Nick, now standing directly in front of her?
Brooke could see the pain on Nick’s face.
She turned and walked away.
Don’t turn your back on me Brooke, shouted Nick.
Brooke stopped, and slowly turned to look at Nick. His silhouette looked so strong against the moonlight. How she longed to just run to him and hold him in her arms. But she knew better than to do that. They had to work through this.
Remember that night you threw me overboard on this very boat, asked Nick?
Yes, Brooke said…almost embarrassed.
And then there was the time out in your courtyard, asked Nick?
Yes….I remember that night, said Brooke.
I have tried to pour my heart out to you, said Nick. I have never loved anyone like I have loved you. There has been no one since you.
Brooke tried to hold back the tears. Nick’s words were ripping her in two.
Don’t cry Brooke, Nick said. Just listen to what I am trying to say to you.
Brooke managed to hold herself together.
I love you Nick, said Brooke.
Do you, asked Nick?
Yes….I do, said Brooke.
Then why do you treat me as if you don’t, asked Nick? Why do you run to Ridge every time we have a problem? Why do you run back to me whenever you and Ridge have a problem? Why do you never put me first? Why did you let him into our marriage?
I don’t know, shouted Brooke. Now the tears were falling and Brooke couldn’t stop them. Nick wanted to run to her and hold her, but he held firm.
Answer me Brooke!! Demanded Nick.
Brooke just stood there. She didn’t know how to answer Nick.
Then she said….because I’m scared.
Scared…asked Nick, shocked by her answer?
Scared of what, asked Nick…walking closer to Brooke.
Scared of your love, said Brooke softly.
Nick didn’t know what to say. He just stood there and stared at her.
Brooke started to pace again. I was scared that you would hurt me. And you did, said Brooke.
But I thought that you had gone back to Ridge, said Nick firmly. Every waking moment it was nothing but Ridge Ridge Ridge. He was everywhere in our marriage, shouted Nick. There was no one else but you for me.
I know, said Brooke…sheepishly. She turned to look at Nick and could see how upset he was.
I’m sorry Nick, said Brooke. I know now that I was wrong to allow Ridge into our life.
She saw Nick’s face soften.
But what about your betrayal Nick, asked Brooke?
Nick could see the pain on Brooke’s face as well.
Nick started to pace as well. He took a hit off his cigar.
I’m sorry Brooke, Nick said. There is no excuse for what I did. I used Bridget to get over the pain. It was wrong.
Hearing those words brought more tears to Brooke.
We were both wrong, stated Nick.
Brooke looked over at Nick and knew that he was right.
What do we do now, asked Brooke? Where do we go from here?
I don’t know, said Nick softly, as he walked closer to Brooke.
I know that I love you more than life itself, Nick said. Remember, you are the sea to me.
How do we work past this pain, asked Brooke?
I know that I can’t open myself up to you if you truly aren’t over Ridge, stated Nick firmly. I can’t. I won’t. As much as I love you, I won’t allow myself to get involved with you, and Ridge. It’s too hard. It takes too much energy. Every time I see you with him, or read about you two in the rags, a piece of me dies.
Those words cut through Brooke like a knife. She never realized before the depths of pain she instilled on this man.
Oh God Nick, Brooke cried. She felt so ashamed.
Nick couldn’t hold back any longer. He reached out to Brooke and held her in his arms. Brooke sobbed and sobbed. He just held her and let her cry. He stroked her beautiful hair and took in the smell of her essence.
After what seemed like an eternity, Brooke broke moved away from Nick.
She walked over to the side of the boat and looked out into the ocean.
She wiped away her tears and put her head down.
Nick walked over and stood looking out at the ocean as well.
After a few moments, Brooke finally spoke.
What do I need to do to fix this, asked Brooke?
To fix us, asked Brooke?
Nick grabbed Brooke gently by both arms and looked at her squarely in the face.
I want to love you again Brooke. As God is my witness, I still do. I really do. But how do I know that you wont’ run back to Ridge next week, next month or even next year, asked Nick? How do I get past Ridge in our lives?
Brooke had no words to prove to Nick that she was truly through with Ridge.
All I can do is prove it to you, said Brooke. Cut Ridge completely out of my life. Cut the Forrester’s completely out.
Nick broke away from Brooke and closed up his gaping heart again.
He started pacing again.
Do you know how long I have waited to hear you say that, asked Nick?
All I have ever wanted was for you to look at how they treat you and how miserable they make you feel, said Nick. All I ever wanted was to love you and for you to love me back.
I know, said Brooke.
Look. It’s getting late, said Nick. I’m going to get you back to shore. He held her again.
Brooke closed her eyes and just held Nick for the longest time. It felt so good to be in his arms.
Brooke and Nick didn’t speak much on the way back. Brooke knew that it would take everything she had to get Nick to trust her again. But it felt good to talk and work through their feelings.
Nick walked Brooke back to her car. We’ll talk some more tomorrow he said to her as she drove away.
As Brooke drove home, she felt a sense of peace fall upon her.
As Nick laid his head on his pillow, a tear fell down his cheek. Finally alone, the gravity of what had just happened finally hit him. As he laid on his bed, he thanked the Lord above that he still had a chance of having a life with the women he loved. He dared not think about it, for fear that something would ruin it. He would remain strong, but he would never give up hope.
