Brooke walked into the lobby of the Wilshire. She proceeded over to the front desk, and asked the clerk if Mr. Rossi was in his room. The clerk picked up the phone, rang the room, and after a few moments, informed Brooke that no one was answering. Brooke looked puzzled, thanked the clerk and walked over to the elevator doors, she pushed the up button and when the doors opened there stood Carmine. Brooke smiled as Carmine exited the elevator. “I was just on my way up to see if you were in,”” Brooke said.
Carmine smiled in return, and responded ““were you? I thought I would come to the lobby to wait for you.”
They walked together out of the lobby and got into Brooke’’s car. Arriving at FC about a quarter to ten, she parked the car and showed Carmine the way into the building. She gave him a quick tour of the cutting and sewing rooms, the receiving dock and fabric sorting area, making the way up to the executive offices. She led the way down the hall, by passing her own office, and knocked on the door to Nick’’s office.
“Come in”” Brooke opened the door and walked into Nick’’s office. Carmine followed, and Brooke introduced the two men, and gave Nick a synopsis of Carmine’’s designs. She concluded and asked Carmine to show Nick some of his portfolio. Carmine handed it over, but retained several sheets of sketch paper. Nick looked them over and nodded his head in approval. “These are fabulous,”” Nick said. “I agree,”” Brooke added.
“What do you have there?”” Nick asked noticing the papers in his hand.
“These are some designs I started last night at the hotel.”Carmine looked at Brooke, “the sunsets are beautiful here, I was inspired.”
He handed them to Nick. Nick glanced at them, looked from Brooke to Carmine;
“These top everything else. Let’s discuss terms.” They quickly came to an agreement and with a handshake Carmine Rossi became Forrester Creations new Head Designer. Nick told Carmine that legal would have the official contract ready in a couple of days. Brooke and Nick showed him to his office, got him settled in. After a few hours of getting acquainted with the staff, Brooke drove him to the hotel to get his luggage and took him to his temporary residence in Venice Beach(FC used this place to entertain clients), during the ride over he observed a elegantly wrapped package, and asked if it was someone’s birthday. Brooke told him that it was a present for her youngest daughter, she had a dance recital in the evening. When they pulled into the driveway of the beach house, Brooke and Carmine got out. Carmine immediately went out to the beach and took in the beauty.
“You should have lots of inspiration here.”
Carmine answered, “I’ve had inspiration all day.”
Brooke didn’t answer, but turned and showed the way to the beach house. . The house was a soft weathered gray, and had floor to ceiling windows. There was a porch that wrapped completely around the house. It was two stories, with a loft at one end and high cathedral ceiling on the other “I hope this will do for now. We’ll get you a permanent residence in a few weeks.”
“This is fine, no hurry,” Carmine responded.
He took his luggage into one of the bedrooms, and came back out. Brooke took a few moments to show him around the house, concluding in the loft, which was her favorite space in the house. Apparently, it was Carmine’s too. He commented that he could see far out into the ocean, from up there, it also had lots of natural light, and he thought it was going to be his favorite spot. As they made their way back downstairs, Brooke’s heart skipped a beat. It seemed so natural for her to be at his side, they had so much in common, Carmine had the same thought, but neither said anything to the other. Brooke bid him goodnight, that she would see him in the morning, and she left to go to Hope’s dance recital.
Downstairs, loud voices awoke Brooke from her sleep. She didn’t wake right away, it took her awhile to let go of the dream, and bring herself back to reality. She suddenly heard as clear as day:
“I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU SAY RICK, I’M GOING TO SEE BROOKE NOW!”
Brooke quietly got up from her bed, grabbed her cell phone, and started to go downstairs. >>>>>>>>>>End of Chapter 1<<<<<<<<<<

What a cliffhanger! I'm almost terrified to guess who is downstairs. Hopefully, it's someone that Brooke wants to see, and NOT someone who is going to add to her grief and stress. I love reading about Brooke and Carmine's easygoing relationship. I'm curious as to how Nick felt when the relationship started to become serious. Oh, and I echo the sentiments of those who are glad you addressed Sally's demise. Given that the Spectra gang was such an integral part of the show for years, it makes no sense that Brad Bell refuses to write Sally's death into the show. At the very least, it would give Clarke and CJ (as well as viewers) some closure especially in light of losing Macy and Darla recently. Thanks for such great writing!

I'm half way thru writing the second chapter, but I'm not going to be able to post it yet. We had a bad thunderstorm the other night and my home internet connection is down, on top of that the home computer's cd burner took a poop on me as well. So I can't transfer the writing. Vacation time is also coming up and my daughter and I have to scope out some colleges. She's going to graduate this next spring. So, I'm quite busy. I know I'm putting Brooke through alot these first few chapters. I beleive that she is a very strong woman despite what is spewed on the show. I want to show her with a back bone, and firmly standing on her own, even when she's at her most vunlerable. I'll try to get some happier moments for her soon. In the story its only been a few hours since Lt. Baker told her the news. I've also had to revise my original vision for the story. Part of the plot I had laid out has been touched on by another fanfic writer, and I don't want to be seen as copying. Although I think its really just a matter of some of us thinking along the same lines. Good opportunity though to get the creative juices flowing and think outside the box. ;D Be patient....I'll have more to come soon. Thanks again for all the feedback, it is appreciated!

Take your time, Horsey! I totally understand where you're coming from about finding the time. As a heroine, Brooke would, indeed, have to suffer from some hardship. However, it's great seeing her written from the perspective of someone who "gets" her unlike the head hack of B&B.

Thank goodness for good ole floppy disks! I got so use to putting everything on CD's that I forgot about the floppy!
Here's part 1 of Chapter 2:
Chapter 2 The sight that met her was chaotic. Ridge, Stephanie, and Eric had arrived. Stephanie and Ridge appeared to be trying to make their way up the stairs, and Rick was blocking the way. Eric had a hold of Stephanie’s arm trying to restrain her. Ridge noticed that Brooke was standing at the top of the stairs, broke past Rick, and ran up the stairs. He started to embrace Brooke, but she stepped back out of arm’s reach. Rick quickly followed and stood very close to his mother, while Eric tried to calm Stephanie down. Ridge looked taken aback that Brooke didn’t seem happy to see him. “Logan, how could you not tell me? I would have come over right away. You must be devastated.” He made a move again to embrace her, but she stepped back again and Rick stepped in front of her.
“Obviously mom didn’t feel like telling you,” Rick answered for his mother. “We don’t need you here, especially her,” Rick said with a nod towards Stephanie.
“Is that true, Logan?”
“Ridge, I really don’t need anymore drama right now. I didn’t tell you because I’m still in shock and I am well aware of your feelings concerning Carmine.”
"Regardless of how I feel about your fiancé, I will always care for you, and you should have told me. I would have come and picked up RJ, anything I could do to help you…and I mean anything.” Ridge reached across Rick and stroked her arm, Brooke cringed in response.
“Ridge, keep your hands to yourself.” He dropped his hand. “Considering that you called me just this morning, and backed out of your commitment to RJ. I thought it was better to have Bridget look after him, after all you didn’t give me a reason why you couldn’t watch your son.”
“Uh, about that.”
“I really am not in the mood for this Ridge. Rick is here. I am in good hands with my son, and I have more calls to make.”
“I’ll call Bridget and have her meet me with RJ then.” “No, I haven’t told the children yet. I was going over to Nick’s later and Bridget is meeting me there. I’ll tell the children there, depending on their reactions,”
“It figures that she would run to Nick’s,” Stephanie spat out at the bottom of the steps.
“Not now Stephanie,” Eric said quickly.
Brooke glared in Stephanie’s direction.
“That’s just typical for you Stephanie, kick me when I’m down. NOT anymore.”
Brooke opened her cell phone and started to dial Lt. Baker’s number.
“What are you doing Logan?” Ridge asked.
“I’m calling the police. I am not going to deal with you people right now. Leave now, or I’ll have the police come.”
“You can’t be serious.” Ridge made a move to grab the phone. Rick deftly caught Ridge’s arm and twisted it around behind his back.
“Let go of me, you little bastard.”
“Ridge, Stephanie it’s time for us to leave. Rick please let go of your brother.” Eric was trying to diffuse the situation.
“He is NOT my brother,” Rick exclaimed.
“I said let him go Rick, we will leave,” Eric pleaded. Rick reluctantly loosened his hold. Ridge stepped away straightened his shirt and turn around as if to leave, but instead hauled off and punched Rick in the stomach.
“That was uncalled for Ridge.” Brooke hit the send button on her phone.
“Lt. Baker, please.”
“Please hold a moment.”
“This is Lt. Baker”
“Lt. Baker this is Brooke Logan, I have a situation at my residence.”
“I’m aware that you have company.”
“What?”
“There has been an unmarked car and a plain clothes officer outside of your house since this morning.”
“Why?”
“I have my reasons, I don’t want to go into that now though. A uniform will be there shortly.”
“Thank you.” Brooke closed the phone. “The police will be here shortly,” she informed everyone.
“Good,” said Stephanie.
“You think so?” Brooke asked.
“Mother let’s just leave.” Ridge walked back down the stairs. Stephanie and Ridge walked to the door. Eric just stood there, undecided whether he should stay or go. Deciding to go he stepped over to the door right behind Ridge and Stephanie. Ridge opened the door, and to his surprise, a police officer was standing in the doorway.
“We received a call from this residence. Is Ms. Logan here?”
“There’s no problem here officer, Stephanie tried to sound convincing. “Ms. Logan is just confused,” she dismissed the officer and tried to shut the door. The officer put his foot in the jam of the door, and pushed it back open. The officer pushed by Ridge and Stephanie, he was followed by another rather tall and burly officer. The tall officer stood in front of the door, preventing anyone from leaving.
“Ms. Logan,” the first officer said loudly.
“I’m right here,” said Brooke as she made her way down.
“Is everything okay? We are responding to a call from this residence.”
“Officer, I’ve asked these people to leave, and they refused.”
“Liar,” hissed Stephanie. “You asked no such thing, you slut.”
“One more word from you lady, and I’ll have my partner restrain you.”
“Do you know who I am?” Stephanie voice became shrill.
“I’m well aware of who you are. It makes no difference to me,” the officer stated bluntly.
“How dare you speak to my mother that way?” Ridge interjected. “Brooke is the mother of my son, I have certain rights here. Brooke is just confused.”
“Sir, do you own this house?”
“No”
“Do you live here?”
“No”
“Then when this lady asked you to leave,”
“Lady indeed,” snorted Stephanie.
The officer didn’t finish his sentence instead he made a motion to his partner. Who stepped away from the door, and grabbed Stephanie and placed handcuffs on her. She struggled and Eric went over and tried to calm her.
“I can’t believe that you fools are taking that that that girl seriously,” Stephanie had a hard time controlling herself.
The first officer nodded his head, and in response the second officer opened the door, and stepped outside. After forcibly placing Stephanie in the squad car; he called for back up, and headed back inside. Stephanie sat there aghast that she found herself in a squad car. Brooke will pay for this indignity, she thought.
Ridge and Eric stood there stunned, while Rick slowly made his way down the steps, he was still winded from having the air knocked out of him. “Officer, this is my mother. She did ask them to leave. She was trying to call the police, when Ridge tried to take the phone from her. I restrained him, and when my father asked me to release him I did, after that he hit me.”
“Sir,” the officer turned to Ridge. “Did you try to take the phone from Ms. Logan?”
“She was just confused,” Ridge responded.
“Is that the standard answer for you?”
Ridge didn’t say anything.
“Did you hit this man here?”
“It’s just a misunderstanding.”
“Sir this man has obviously been hit. Who hit him?” The officer was starting to get annoyed.
Eric who had been silent for this exchange finally found his voice. “Officer, Ridge did hit Rick.” Ridge whipped around and glared at Eric.
“Thank you sir, for your honesty.”
“Rick is it? Do you wish to press charges?”
Rick looked at his mother, as if to ask her what to do. Brooke answered his question.
“Honey, do whatever you feel is right,” she said in a weary voice.
Rick knew what he wanted to do; he didn’t want to put his mother through anymore, she had been through so much that day, but he couldn’t think of a better way to give his mother some peace, than by having Ridge out of her hair for awhile.
“I want to press charges,” Rick said.
“That’s all I needed to here,” the officer stated. He walked over to Ridge and placed handcuffs on him as well. At that moment 2 more officers arrived and came into the house.
“He touched me first,” Ridge tried to explain, instead sounding as if he was 10 years old.
“Sir, you have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney, if you can’t afford one the court will provide you with one. Do you understand these rights as I have described.”
“YES,” barked Ridge.
“Good”
The second set of officers took custody of Ridge, and removed him from the house and put him in the second car. The initial officer turned back to Brooke. “Ms. Logan, I strongly suggest that you get a restraining order. This situation could have very easily have gotten out of control.”
“We do share custody of our son, we need to be able to communicate.”
“Perhaps you should address that as well.”
“I’ll give that some thought,” Brooked conceded. “Thank you for arriving so quickly.”
“Ms. Logan, I won’t be able to take Mrs. Forrester into custody, but I will remove her from the premises.”
“Thank you again officer.”
“I will take her home,” Eric stated.
“Sir, I suggest that you have a talk with your wife. If she harasses Ms. Logan again, I will take her in. I myself witnessed verbal abuse here, and if Ms. Logan feels compelled to call us again concerning Mrs. Forrester, then”
Eric nodded his head, “I understand.” He left the house to see to Stephanie.
Brooke helped Rick over to the sofa. The officer followed. “Sir, we will need you to make a formal statement. We can take care of that now, so you can stay with your mother. I’m aware of your news of this morning” The officer took out his note pad; writing as Rick’s recounted the altercation. When he finished Rick was asked to sign at the bottom. Rick signed the book and the officer turned to leave. Brooke got up off the couch, followed the officer to the door, thanking him again for his help. The officer left, Brooke closed the door quietly, and walked back over to her son. She sat down next to him, and laid her head on his shoulder. She was drained, emotionally and physically. Rick put his arm around his mother and they sat together.

Awesome, Horsey! Boy, Hag is a real piece of work, isn't she? What busniess does SHE have at Brooke's, anyway? At least she gets cuffed and shoved in the back of a cruiser. That's what I'm trying to figure out. WHY did she need to even be there knowing that she was going to show her behind. She can't even allow Brooke to grieve in peace without making her disrespectful comments. Come to think of it, why was RIDGE even there? He couldn't be bothered to pick up RJ and now he wants to act all solicitous and sympathetic! It's obvious that neither he nor his vile mother have any respect for Brooke's wishes. Either that or they both need Q-Tips because I distinctly "heard" Brooke tell them to leave. And how like Ridge to sucker punch Rick when his guard is down. What a PAB! Finally! Someone is actually pressing charges against this scum, and I sure hope that the arrest goes further. Wonderful writing!

Meanwhile, Ridge sat in the back of the squad car, and contemplated his situation. He noticed that his mother was out of handcuffs. Dad was helping her into the back of his car, even though she was shooing him away. She suddenly stopped dead in her tracks, however and turned around. She stalked over and spoke to the officer briefly then stomped off to the car, jumping into the passenger’s seat with her arms crossed. Eric walked over to the car Ridge was sitting in, asked the officer if he could speak to his son, and the officer nodded in the affirmative and opened the door.
“Ridge, your mother says we will meet you at the station. We’ll call an attorney for you, and have you out on bail in a few hours.”
“That’s the least you can do,” Ridge muttered.
“Son, I’m sorry, but you were out of line. It’s time you took responsibility for your actions,” Eric turned, walked over and got into the car with Stephanie. He put the keys into the ignition, and started the car. He turned to Stephanie and opened his mouth;
“Don’t start, Eric.”
“I told you it wasn’t a good idea for you to come,” he said.
“I had to come, you know how Brooke is. She would have turned on the waterworks and Ridge would have been drawn back in again.”
“For Christ’s sake, Stephanie, just stop. She hasn’t shown any interest in Ridge for years now.”
“That’s only because she’s been involved with Carmine. Now that he’s gone, she’ll be back to her old ways soon enough.”
Eric shook his head in disgust. “And you haven’t changed either.” Stephanie didn’t respond but snorted and crossed her arms.
“Are you going to follow Ridge to the police station, or are you going to continue to berate me.”
Eric sighed, put the car into gear and followed the squad car to the police station.
When Ridge arrived at the station, he was shown into an interrogation room. He was told that an officer would be with him shortly. Ridge wondered how he was going to get out of the situation. The last place he wanted to be this particular morning was at the police station. He lamented the fact that he lost control of the situation, and ended up here. Lt. Baker walked into the room.
“Well Mr. Forrester we meet again.”
“I’m glad that you are handling this Lt. Baker.”
“Are you now? What seems to be the problem?”
“Well, mother, dad, and I went over to Brooke’s to see if she needed anything and she totally flipped out.”
“I see, and how did you end up here?”
Ridge didn’t say anything.
Lt. Baker looked at the report and Rick’s statement. “Did you hit Rick Forrester?”
Ridge opened his mouth to say something, but thought better of it, and closed it.
“I see,” said Lt. Baker. “An officer will be in shortly to have you booked, your mother has already called and informed me that you attorney will be here soon. I believe a judge will arraign you this afternoon.”
Lt. Baker left the room, and walked over to a stunningly beautiful female officer. “Corporal, please take Mr. Forrester down to booking, and see if you can get a DNA sample from him also,” he added in a whisper.
“Yes sir.”
The officer went into the interrogation room and took Ridge to the booking area. She had him remove his Rolex watch, wallet, and his keys. She placed his personal items in a bag, noted the items on a sheet of paper, and flashing a beautiful smile, asked for him to initial the sheet. He did and as he drew his hand away, she made a slight motion with the clipboard.
“Ow,” Ridge exclaimed.
“I’m sorry sir, let me get you a band aid” the officer seemed genuinely remorseful.
“It’s okay, only a paper cut,” Ridge smiled and replied. It wasn’t her fault that he was here, he thought.
She walked over to a drawer, opened it and pulled out a tiny band aid. She handed it to Ridge, who put it on his index finger. She looked down at her clipboard and sure enough there was a spot of blood on it. She flipped the clipboard over out of his line of vision, and asked him to step in front of the camera. After taking the mug shot, she escorted back to the interrogation room, and Ridge sat down and waited for his attorney to arrive. Instead Stephanie walked into the room.
“We’ll have you out of here soon, son. I found a top notch attorney. Christine Blair wasn’t available, so Andrew Wilcox will be representing you.”
“Good, the sooner I am out of here and done with this the better.”
The pretty Corporal found Lt. Baker in his office. “Sir, here is the paperwork on Mr. Forrester. He accidentally cut his finger on a sheet of paper.”
Lt. Baker smiled. “I’ll take that,” he said knowingly, and took the clipboard from the Corporal. He took the top sheet off, and placed it in an evidence bag. “Take this down to the lab, and have them put a rush on it.” The Corporal nodded and left the room with the bag. Lt. Baker sat down and made a few notes, and looked over the pictures of the crime scene involving Mr. Carmine Rossi. Something just doesn’t add up he said to himself. All the evidence is pointing to suicide, but for the life of me I don’t see this man committing suicide, he had everything going for him. He sighed, and picked up the phone. They have to search Mr. Rossi residence, he thought. Maybe something there will shed some light on the matter.
“Hello, Ms. Logan. This is Lt. Baker again.”
“Hello Lt.”
“Ms. Logan, we are going to need to search Mr. Rossi’s residence. Do you have a set of keys to his house? We didn’t find any this morning.”
“That’s strange,” she said. “Yes I do have a set,” she went on as she searched her purse.
“Good, I’m going to come over and get them, also, I hate to ask this but, do you think you can handle seeing a picture of Mr. Rossi, we do need to have an official identification.”
Brooke was afraid that this was coming. She started to sob softly.
“It’s okay, Ms. Logan. Perhaps we can handle this a different way. When we go to Mr. Rossi’s we will try to get a DNA sample from his tooth or hair brush.”
“Oh…okay.”
“I’ll be over shortly then.”
“Thank you Lt. Baker.
Lt. Baker pushed a button on the phone and called down to the Crime Scene Investigation Unit. He gave them the address, and asked for a team to be dispatched as soon as possible. “I’ll meet you there with the keys shortly. Meanwhile, go ahead and process the outside.” He hung up, grabbed his jacket from the back of his chair, and headed out.

He went to Brooke’s first, getting the keys from Rick. Ms. Logan was lying down and resting when Lt. Baker got there. He then headed over to Venice Beach. Carmine had loved the house so much, that Nick and Brooke decided to give it to him as a bonus after the first showing.
When Lt. Baker arrived, the CSI Unit was just finishing up dusting for prints, and looking over the outside of the house, there was even a team scouring the beach for any evidence. He got out of the car, and walked up to the entrance of the house. He put the key in the lock, and unlocked the door. When he walked in, it was obvious that something had happened here. It looked like someone had tried to straighten up, but little things were out of place. For example the cushions on the couch were facing backwards, and what appeared to be red wine had been spilled, the counter was clean, however there was a small stain on the tile floor. He looked around and walked over to look at the pictures around the house. The first one he came to was one of Brooke and Carmine at obviously very happy, with two children. The next one was of a large Italian family all waving ecstatically. Lt. Baker placed gloves on his hands and picked up the photo. He examined it closely, noting that all the men in the picture looked amazing alike. All the younger men were obviously the sons of the elder in the picture, each almost a replica of the father. They looked like a close knit family, he observed. Putting the picture down, he walked to the bedroom. He noted that a suitcase lay on the bed half packed, and one of the drawers to the dresser was hanging open. He went into the bathroom, noting nothing out of the ordinary, he proceeded back to the great room and instructed the CSI’s to make sure they bagged the tooth and hair brush; also all the pictures. He made his way to the loft area. This is where he does most of his work, Lt. Baker noted. A large drawling table was facing the ocean, and colored pencils, oil pastels, and tubes of paint were scattered about. At the other end of the room, a home office had been put in. Lt. Baker walked over to the desk, and noticed that the files had been haphazardly pushed into the drawers. He turned his attention to the walls, something caught his eye. Squinting slightly, he reached out and gently pulled at the side of a painting. Ah ha! He thought. The frame swung open to reveal a small vault which was open but empty. He went back down stairs and sent a CSI upstairs to the loft, and told the lead investigator to make sure the sealed the house, and not to release it until he said. He walked outside to his own car, and called the DA’s office.
He spoke with the ADA handling the legal end of the investigation, and brought him up to speed. Lt. Baker commented he would like to have hard copies of the phone records for Mr. Rossi’s home, office, and cell. The ADA, said that shouldn’t be a problem, and he would get right on it.
“Has the coroner finished yet?”
“No, when I left the station, he was just completing it, and had to write the report yet.”
“All right then. I’ll have those records for you as soon as I can, talk to you soon, Lt. Baker.”
The call ended, and just then a CSI came up to Lt. Baker.
“Sir, I found this on the beach.” The CSI held up an evidence bag with a cartridge in it. “I found this about 20 yards from the house.”
Lt. Baker took the bag, and thought, we can rule out suicide. He handed it back; “Let’s see if it’s a match to the bullet.” The CSI nodded and left Lt. Baker.
Lt. Baker got into the car, glanced at his watch, and headed back to the station.

Bridget looked at her watch, and glanced around the playground. She saw RJ playing on the jungle gym. Keeping close watch on him, she picked up her cell phone and called CJ.
“Hey sweetie,” Bridget said. “I’m at the zoo playground with RJ. I could really use some company; I’ve had a rough morning.”
“We are slow here at Insomnia, I think I can leave.”
“Great,” Bridget replied. “CJ, I love you.”
“I love you too, are you okay?”
“I’ll explain when you get here, see you soon.”
She closed the phone and put it on her hip. She sat quietly, watching RJ. I wonder how mom is doing, she thought. She’s so devastated. Her thoughts turned to her own husband, and how devastated she would be, if he was gone.
After Sally’s funeral, CJ was so depressed that Rick and Bridget made it their mission not to leave him alone. Rick and Bridget stopped by Insomnia twice a day to check on him, sometimes three. CJ had moved in with his father. Clark Sr. wasn’t doing well either. So, they weren’t worried about him being alone at home. CJ had put up a good front for his father’s sake, but inside he was falling apart. Bridget at the same time was in therapy for her infatuation for older unavailable men. She tried to go to Taylor, but the sessions always seemed to end up placing all the blame on her mother. Bridget after a couple of weeks had decided that it she had to except her responsibility in the situations. After all, everyone warned her not to marry Deacon and Nick for that matter. Her infatuation with Ridge was insane. She realized that she had been manipulated by Massimo. Her new therapist had encouraged her to forge some relationships with men her own age, and concentrate on her career. She embraced this advice. CJ was a natural choice. CJ and Bridget started spending more time together. Rick became distracted with work, and they became very close. After a few months they became lovers. Bridget sold the old beach house, and bought a larger one in Malibu. CJ and Clark moved in with her, and shortly after they had an impromptu wedding on the beach outside the house, with only Eric, Brooke, Carmine, Rick, and Clark there. It was a lovely evening. Her mother was her made of honor and Eric gave her away. Rick was CJ’s best man.
Part of Bridget’s healing also came from having a true heart to heart with her mother. It was a long and difficult conversation, speaking for the first time without pretense and hiding nothing from one another. For the first time Bridget actually tried to put herself in her mother’s place and finally could see why she made the decisions she did. She decided then she wasn’t going to continue dreaming of what should have been, instead taking each day as it came, and striving for a better future. Brooke and Bridget became closer, and the knot in Bridget’s stomach that appeared whenever she saw Hope, lessened. In fact anymore Hope was just her sister, Bridget didn’t give two thoughts about who her father was. These revelations resulted in a boost to her career as well. She was able to concentrate more at work and it showed. She had received several promotions, and was currently involved with children’s cancer research. Bridget was content with her life. She only wished that her mother could find happiness. It seemed that she found it with Carmine, but NOW this, she thought, and a single tear rolled down her face from behind her sunglasses.
A finger wiped away the tear. Bridget turned her head, and saw CJ standing to her side. She stood up and hugged him hard.
“What’s wrong?”
Bridget sat back down on the bench, and CJ sat next to her. He grabbed her hand and gently squeezed it.
“Honey, what’s wrong?” CJ repeated.
“Carmine is dead.”
“No”
“Lt. Baker contacted mom this morning.”
“Bridget, I’m so sorry.”
“We just finalized the wedding plans,” she sobbed. Bridget laid her head on his shoulder. CJ let go of her hand, and putting his arm around her shoulders he stroked her hair, until she regained her composure.
“What do we need to do?” CJ said. Bridget and Rick had been solid for him, during his own ordeal. He was ready to do the same for them, Bridget especially.
“I’m supposed to meet mom at Nick’s with RJ in a little while. Can you come with me? I don’t know if I can do it alone.”
“Anything for you. If your mom agrees, we should take the kids for her tonight. Nick is going to be busy, and they should be together.” CJ knew the best way to get Bridget through this was to keep her busy, and the kids were the perfect distraction.
“Yes, that sounds good. I love spending time with them. How do you know what I need?”
CJ leaned over and softly kissed her, “because I love you” he said.

:)Awesome, Horsey! You GO, Girl! Show the writers how it's done. And I ADORE the idea of CJ and Bridgette. I actually like Bridgette, and love the fact that she and Rick were there for CJ. I miss CJ, TPTB need to give him a SL.

Thank you very much brickfan and Gio .
Here is the conclusion to Chapter 2.Back at the station, Ridge was still sitting in the interrogation room, with Stephanie by his side. Eric was more out than in. Mr. Wilcox had stopped by, spoke briefly to Ridge and Stephanie, and left quickly to see about the arraignment. He came back shortly, and informed them it would be within a couple of hours. He opened the door, called Eric in, and sat down with the three of them. “Now,” Mr. Wilcox started. “What happened?” Ridge explained that they, mother, dad, and himself, had heard that Brooke’s fiancé was dead. They went over there to lend their support. Brooke was asleep. “and Ridge decided that he had to see her then,” Eric injected. “Things got loud, and Brooke woke up.” Ridge scowled at Eric, and continued with his account of the altercation that followed. With Eric making occasional comments, that seemed to put some balance to Ridge’s story. Mr. Wilcox gave them his full attention, making notes here and there. Mrs. Forrester is being very quiet, he thought. “Mrs. Forrester I understand from the police report that you were also handcuffed,” Mr. Wilcox directed at her. “Yes, but we aren’t here about me. You are here to see to my son.” Stephanie reached over and grasped Ridge’s hand. Mr. Wilcox shrugged. “Well then, here is what I think. Due to Ridge’s colorful history with the law, we are not going to have an easy time in court. He punched Rick Forrester, after being asked to leave.” “That is not how it happened,” Ridge said irritated. “Sir, I’m going by the police report. This, is also what the court is going by, this is not a trial, but an arraignment. You do understand what an arraignment is?” “Yes,” Ridge said. ”Good,” Mr. Wilcox replied. “If you want to get out today, I suggest sir that you keep your temper in check, and only speak when spoken too. I have a call to make for another client. I’ll meet you in court.” Mr. Wilcox got up and left the room. Ridge sat there with a sullen expression on his face. He turned and glared at Eric. “This could have been avoided if you wouldn’t have said anything,” Ridge spat. Eric sighed, and ran his fingers through his hair. He was really weary of Ridge’s attitude. Ridge truly believes that the world revolves around him, Eric thought. “Son, you were wrong. You shouldn’t have hit Rick.” “Why do you always take Brooke’s side, Eric?” Stephanie said. “This isn’t about me choosing Brooke, Stephanie. This is about Ridge NOT controlling himself.” “You sided with Rick.” Stephanie was ready for a fight, but Eric wasn’t biting. “Whatever Stephanie, I’m going to call a cab, and go home. I see nothing more I can do here.” “Fine, If that’s how you want to be,” Ridge said. “I don’t want you here.” Eric got up, dropped his car keys on the table and slammed the door on his way out. This didn’t escape Lt. Baker’s attention as he walked by.

:)Awesome, Horsey! I want MORE! I just loved the way Baker had a hot woman get Ridge's DNA! Boy, he has Ridge's number, doesn't he? And Hag is so predictable! Her stupid brat hits someone, Eric calls him on it, and she accuses him of siding with Brooke. Hag's holding Ridge's hand was disgusting! What is he, her lover?

Her stupid brat hits someone, Eric calls him on it, and she accuses him of siding with Brooke. Hag's holding Ridge's hand was disgusting! What is he, her lover? Yeah, one WOULD think old mullet boy is Stephanie's lover instead of her son, wouldn't they? You would think Ridge is some teenager who got caught with his pants down in the back seat of the family car instead of a 50-something "adult" with grown children. And I just loved how he was angry because Eric refused to allow him to put his [Ridge's] own spin on what went down. Like a PAB, he sucker-punched Rick while his defenses were down. Now Ridge doesn't want to have to answer for it. And how like his mother to agree! He should do as his lawyer says and keep his trap shut during the arraignment. BTW, Horsey, thanks for giving Ridge a real lawyer who tells it like it T-I-IS instead of someone who tells him what he WANTS to hear. I am so loving Bridget and CJ in your story! See, this is exactly the direction I expected Bradley to go a few years ago. But evidently, it was more important to generate a fanbase for Bridget by having her "fall" for Ridge and hooking her up with Nick later. I can't tell you how great it is to see Bridget in an age-appropriate and healthy relationship that grew out of a real friendship. I do feel bad for Clarke and am grateful that you realistically showed how Sally's survivors fell apart after her funeral. ITA with Giovanna that Ridge is so predictable when it comes to hot women. What a clown! I can't wait to see the results of the DNA test. I especially loved the healing process that Brooke and Bridget underwent to mend their broken relationship. It's about time! I especially loved Bridget recognizing that she needed therapy, as well as her recognition that she was responsible for the choices she made. These installments are great! Keep 'em coming!

Wonderful Horsey. I also especially loved how you wrote Bridget whom you have let to grow up, and how Brooke and her worked on their relationship. I also love that you paired her up with CJ. I found those two very promising back then, until Bell's twisted mind kicked into overdrive again.

I found those two very promising back then, until Bell's twisted mind kicked into overdrive again. I have, more than once berated Bridget, and dubbed her the "twit". I've never really hated her, and it galls me that TIIC continue to keep her from forgiving her mother, and getting on with her life. I'm very pleased that I was able to move mother and daughter closer, and yes give CJ something to do. I actually preferred her with Oscar than CJ, but my reader's(Gio & MissJr, in particular) expressed such pleasure with the Spectra clan, that I chose CJ for Bridget to move on with it. Another reason, being that CJ and Clark are the only remaining ties for Sally, and SHE was an integral part of the B&B canvas for years. IMO, since Spectra went under, the show really hasn't been the same. IMO, Bell has the necessary ingredients to have a mono e mono (not sure of the spelling) fashion house wars again. He just refuses to do it. I know I watch for many years to see how Sally was going to pull the preverbally rabbit out of a hat. Thank you karen for your comments, I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Okay readers, this contains my first BRICKY scene, I only hope I did it justice. I have big shoes to fill. Chapter 3:Rick and Brooke set off for Nick’s place, late in the afternoon. Rick was driving, he glanced over at his mother. Brooke’s face clearly showed her grief. She was dreading telling Hope and RJ, the news. She finally had the family of her dreams, and now the rug had been pulled out from under her again. Why, she thought and she fought back her tears again. Rick reached over and grabbed his mother’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. She looked over at her son, and a faint smile briefly showed through her sadness. She squeezed back, removed her hand, and picked up her cell. She dialed Bridget’s number. “Hey” “Hey mom.” “Rick and I are on the way over to Nick’s now.” “Good, we just got here. CJ came along. Hold on a minute…..Sorry about that, I didn’t want RJ to hear. Why don’t CJ and I take the kids tonight? You need time to yourself, and I could use the distraction myself.” Brooke thought for a moment. “Mom…” “I’m sorry sweetie, yes that sounds like a good idea. I still need to call his parents in Italy, and I am exhausted. Ridge and Stephanie decided to pay me a visit. It’s really been a horrible day.” “What? Stephanie didn’t lay into you again, did she?” “Yes, and Ridge punched Rick.” “What!?” “and the police came. Ridge was arrested.” “Mom, I’m so sorry.” “It’s okay, Bridget. It was for the best. At least he’s out of my hair for now.” “I’ll see you in few minutes honey,” Brooke said. “Okay mom” Brooke put her phone back into her bag, and looked out the window. The car slowed, and Rick turned into Nick’s driveway, coming to a stop outside the front door. Brooke took a few deep breaths and braced herself for what she had to do. Rick got out of the driver’s seat, walked around the car, and opened the door for his mom. Brooke gathered her strength, stepped out of the car, and walked up the steps and reached out to ring the bell. Before she could, Bridget opened the door, and hugged her mother. Bridget led her mother into the living room, where Hope and RJ were sitting on the sofa, looking solemn. Brooke walked over to the couch and sat between the children. She glanced around the room noting that Nick was standing in a corner with CJ, Bridget and Rick were standing close to her and the kids, Taylor was the only one missing. “Hope, RJ, I have some terrible news.” Brooke stopped for a moment and took a deep breath. “Carmine and I aren’t going on the trip.” “Why,” asked Hope. “Sweetie,” Brooke looked at her youngest daughter and son tenderly. “Carmine can’t go,” Bridget squatted down in front of her brother sister and mother, and took Hope’s hands. She picked up where her mother couldn’t go. “Hope honey, Carmine passed away.” “No,” Hope and RJ said at the same time. They looked to their mother, questionably. “I’m afraid Bridget is telling the truth,” Brooke said. Hope and RJ started to cry. Bridget pulled Hope close and RJ latched on to his mother’s neck, and hugged her hard. They remained that way for several minutes, while CJ, Nick and Rick looked on. After the children had calmed down, Bridget suggested that they have a sleepover at her house. She made it sound fun, saying that Uncle Clark would love to spend some time with them. Hope and RJ, although sad, seemed to perk up a little bit at the mention of Clark’s name. Uncle Clark had played the clown at RJ’s last birthday party, and the kids had lots of play dates with their cousin Alex, with Clark chaperoning. “Uncle Clark always has the best games to play,” RJ said. “Then that’s settled then,” CJ said. “Nick has your stuff ready, Hope. RJ we are going to stop by your mom’s and pick up some clothes and then we can go home.” Bridget and CJ gathered up the little ones, and Nick helped them take Hope’s suitcases to the car. Brooke was over by the mantle piece, gazing at a picture of Carmine, Nick and her from a showing. They were all smiling broadly, it was a terrific showing. Nick came back in from seeing Bridget and CJ off. He spoke with Rick, asking him for a moment alone with his mother. Rick glanced at his mom looking at the picture, nodded. He said that he was going to get a drink, and left the room for the kitchen. Nick walked over to Brooke, and placed his hand on her shoulder. She turned slowly around and looked into his eyes. She saw that he felt her pain, as deeply as she did. He answered by pulling her into an embrace, and she finally let it all go. The torrent of tears and sobs came furiously. Nick took it all in, if he could he would take it all, but he knew that he couldn’t and it broke his heart even more. Brooke remained in his arms for many minutes. The storm finally started to abate, and Brooke regained her composure. She pulled back slightly and inches from Nick’s face whispered in a hoarse voice. “I’m sorry for that.” “No need to apologize,” Nick whispered back gruffly, voice full of emotion. “I understand completely.” Brooke pulled out of his embrace, and established a safe distance from him. “I still need to call Carmine’s parents.” “Let me handle that for you. You’ve been through enough today,” Nick wanted to do anything for her, if she would just let him. “I don’t know.” “Look, you’ve been through the ringer today. Bridget said something about Ridge and the police.” Brooke sighed, that seemed a lifetime ago, even though it was only a few hours. “Yes, it really didn’t help anything, and neither will rehashing it.” Brooke wanted to avoid another conflict. She couldn’t take much more that day. Nick sensing that said: “Look, let me make the call. I’ll tell them you’ll call them with details later. Do you know anything else?” “No, I’ve only spoke to Lt. Baker once since he,” Brooke paused a moment, “when I called him when Ridge was there.” “I’ll call them. They should know, and you really don’t look like you can handle another emotional conversation today. Have Rick take you home, and…” “Nick,” Brooke started to object. Nick closed the distance between them, and clasped her hand, and said softly, “Please Brooke.” She looked deeply into his eyes, she saw that he was desperate to help her. “Okay,” she relented. “Give them my apologies that I didn’t call myself, and that I’ll call them when I know something more.” Nick gave her a quick hug, “I’ll go get Rick,” and he gave her hand a squeeze and left to go get him. At that moment, Taylor came home. When she walked through the door, she saw Nick giving Brooke a hug and leave the room. Taylor put her purse down on an end table. She walked over to Brooke, greeted her and gave her condolences. “Thank you Taylor.” “Anything WE can do to help you through this,” Taylor replied. “If you need to work through anything, you know who to call,” she went on. “Yes, I do,” Brooke replied, but it isn’t going to be you, Brooke thought to herself. “Mom,” Rick had returned from the kitchen with Nick, “are you ready to go home?” “Yes, I think I am,” Brooke replied. But where is home she thought. Carmine is gone. Brooke and Rick made their way to the door followed by Nick and Taylor. Nick shut the door as Rick and Brooke pulled out of the driveway.

Ridge sat in the courtroom with his mother on the left and Mr. Wilcox on the right. They were waiting for the judge to convene the court. Mr. Wilcox was looking over the police report, and shook his head more than once. He then picked up Ridge’s arrest record, and scratched his head in wonderment. He couldn’t believe all the incidents for this apparent upstanding member of society. Mr. Wilcox glanced up when the judge entered the courtroom, and stood accordingly. He turned to his client who was still seated. He leaned over and whispered:
“Stand up.”
“Oh,” Ridge responded he was lost in thought, and not paying attention to his surroundings.
“The court will come to order,” the bailiff announced. “The State of California vs. Ridge Forrester. Case #425378-666. Mr. Forrester is charged with assault and battery of one Eric Forrester Jr..
“Sir, how do you plead?” The judge asked.
“Your honor, my client pleads not guilty.” Mr. Wilcox responded.
“Your opinions on bail, counsel.”
The ADA responded first, “The state requests that bail be set at 5 million dollars.”
“That’s a little excessive for an assault,” Mr. Wilcox responded.
“Your honor, in all due respect, Mr. Forrester has international ties and vast resources, he could very easily slip out of the country. We also ask that he surrender his passport. This was his younger brother he assaulted.”
The judge thought for a few minutes, “Bail is set at 1 million, Mr. Forrester must surrender his passport before release, and he must keep 100 yards from Eric Forrester Jr. until this matter is resolved at trial. Mr. Forrester, if I hear of you violating this restraining order, your bail will be revoked. Do you understand?”
“Yes sir,” Ridge responded.
“Very well, this court is adjourned.”
Ridge turned to his mother, “I want to go home.”
“We have to post the bail, and get your passport,” Mr. Wilcox responded. “Then you can leave. It should only take a little bit.”
“Good then I can go see Brooke.”
Mr. Wilcox looked hard at his client, “Sir I would advise against that.”
“I can do whatever I want to,” Ridge shot back.
“Not if Rick Forrester is there, and considering what happened this morning, you would do well not to see Ms. Logan.”
“Why? The restraining order doesn’t include her.”
“It does include Rick, and from my understanding he is currently staying with his mother, Ms. Logan. The judge said 100 yards, I wouldn’t test this judge, he means what he says. He will put you in jail if you violate that order.”
“Fine,” Ridge grunted. “I won’t see Brooke, but I do have rights concerning my son RJ.”
“About that, apparently Ms. Logan’s counsel, Storm Logan, filed an emergency custody petition. You will have to be in court for that in a day or two. Until then, family court has issued an order, you are allowed no contact with your son, until the hearing.”
“Damn her,” Ridge said. “What gives Brooke the right to try and keep me from my son?”
“Mr. Forrester, I urge you to err on the side of caution, and cool your heals for a few days, and let me handle the legalities. I will contact Mr. Logan, and see if we can work something out, but I will tell you it doesn’t look good.”
“Just do what you have to so I can see my son.”
“Don’t worry honey, I’ll make sure you see your son, no matter what. That tramp isn’t going to keep you from him.”
“Mother, stop she’s the mother of my child.”
“You will never see her for what she is, Ridge.” On that note Stephanie turned and left to go pay the bail, and to retrieve Ridge’s passport, leaving Ridge alone for the first time that day.

Awesome, Horsey! I simply love how justice is being dispensed with so quickly in your story! Not only is justice speedy, but it is also blind when it comes to the likes of Ridge and Mommy Fang. Evidently, you have a judge who isn't impressed by celebrities. Brooke is going through hell right now and all Ridge and his battleaxe of a mother can do is think about themselves! I'm glad that his lawyer recognizes him for the jerk that he is and is cautioning him. Kudos to Storm for preemptively striking while Ridge was in a weakened state! He knows his nephew's sperm donor quite well apparently. Undoubtedly, Ridge will use the child to worm his way into Brooke's home just to hound and harass her again. The mere fact that he wanted to see Brooke immediately spoke volumes. He didn't start squawking about RJ until AFTER his lawyer reminded him about the restraining order. I hope those restraining orders are permanent ones! At the very least, Ridge should have only supervised visitation until he learns to control his trifling self. I love how Brooke's oldest children are really stepping up and supporting her in her time of need. I continue to be impressed by Bridget's thoughtfulness and maturity. She is clearly coming into her own in your story. For the first time--EVER--I can see her as a future heroine to carry on the next generation. I wondered if Hope and RJ were mature enough to understand the concept of "death" and would understand that Carmine was gone forever. Apparently they do! Poor things! BTW, their love for their "Uncle Clark" is so adorable! I love how these two families have become so intertwined thanks to Bridget and CJ. They managed to accomplish something that Macy and Thorne couldn't. I was sitting here smiling at how much Clark has changed over the years. As a day one viewer, I would have never believed in a million years that the old skanky Clark would one day love to entertain small children! And thank you for giving the Spectra gang a life after Sally's death. Like Bill Bell, you managed to make this family a core family with lives and loves of their own. Bradley turned them into comic relief and had them constantly portrayed as a bunch of ragtag, also-ran foils to the more successful and upperclass Forresters. I loved Nick's sensitivity toward Brooke. Even in this situation, you can feel the love and passion that is barely concealed beneath their exteriors. BTW--I am cackling at your Taylor! This woman is so insecure that you can't help but laugh. Even when she's offering her condolences, she can't help but raise her leg and mark her territory!
