MissJr and newestconvert....you two have inspired me . I haven't been on here much, basically the show sucks so much I can't really get into even bashing it much anymore. I decided to take a stab at fanfic. I'm going for my own justice, which is sorely lacking on this soap.
This is more along the lines of a murder mystery more than romance. Chapter 1: Tragic NewsLt. Baker sat at his desk, within the Beverly Hills police department. He was dreading, what he was about to do. He didn’t want to go visit the Forrester’s again. He had had enough of that family to last him a life time. However, as the senior officer it was his duty. He thought back over the last several cases, involving the Forrester’s. Most notably, the hit and run of Darla Forrester, and the apparent suicide of a young man involved with Phoebe Forrester. I can never get a straight answer out of any of them, he thought to himself, and I doubt that this case will be any different. One of the CSI’s at the department, knocked on his office door, interrupting his revere. She poked her head in. “Lt. Baker”, she started. “Yes”, he responded. “Here is the preliminary Crime Scene report.”, she said. “Good, I’ve been waiting for that, thanks for putting a rush on it, and has the coroner started the autopsy yet?” “No, but he has it scheduled for first thing this morning.”, she informed him. “Excellent, I want to have all samples pulled and sent to the lab, before I start interviewing. Let me know when the coroner has finished.”, Lt. Baker dismissed the CSI, and started to examine the report, she had just handed him. After reviewing it for several minutes he set the report aside, and thought about a plan of action. He couldn’t put off notifying the family much longer. He had to keep his suspicions close to the vest. The last time he had to deal with the Forrester’s they made a complete fool of him, and he was bound and determined not to let that happen again. They had mocked the law and justice system long enough, and this time someone was going to pay. They weren’t going to wiggle out of it this time, he vowed. Lt. Baker picked up the phone, and dialed. “Hello, may I speak to Ms. Logan?” “Yes, may I ask who’s calling?”, a female voice responded. “This is Lt. Baker of the Beverly Hills police department.” “Certainly Lt. Baker, please hold a moment.” He waited a moment or two. ‘This is Brooke Logan.” “Ms. Logan would you be able to come down to the station this morning, there is a matter that I would like to discuss with you.” “Can we handle this over the phone? I’m do to leave this morning with my fiancé for a trip to Italy.” “No, I’m afraid it can’t. I would come to you, but I think this matter would best be handled with you coming to me. It is the utmost urgency that I speak to you alone, without any interference.” “If that’s the case, Lt. Baker, I’ll be over as soon as I can.” “Thank you, Ms. Logan. I’ll see you soon.” Lt. Baker hung up the phone, and put his head in his hands. He was not looking forward to breaking the horrible news to Ms. Logan.

After hanging up with Lt. Baker, Brooke looked at her watch. She still had packing to finish, and the children weren’t up yet. “Catherine”, Brooke called. ‘Yes Brooke”, she responded. “I have to leave for a bit, has Carmine called this morning? I was expecting to hear from him last night, but I didn’t.” “Maybe he’s planning a special surprise”, Catherine responded. Brooke nodded her head in agreement. But something wasn’t right. It was very unlike Carmine to not call her before bed. He did every night. Brooke went downstairs, and grabbed her purse and keys and headed out the door. When she opened it up, Nick was standing there. “Hi, Nick.” “Hello Brooke, I’m here to pick up Hope.” “She’s still asleep, but you are more than welcome to come in and wait. I have to do some last minute errands, but I’ll be right back. Thank you again for taking care of her, while Carmine and I take this trip.” “Anything for my top executive, and designer,” Nick grinned. Brooke smiled in return. “and you know I would do anything to spend time with Hope.” “Yes, I do Nick. I do have to run. If I don’t see you before we leave, tell Hope I will call her when we get there, and I’ll be in touch concerning the new line and fabrics”, Brooke said these last words as she started out the door, on her way to the police department. As Brooke got in her car, and started out the driveway. She thought how lucky she was that Nick and her had retained their close friendship over the last two years.
Even though he was married to Taylor, she had agreed to work for his Fashion House, instead of Ridge’s. She didn’t once regret the choice. Nick valued her business instincts highly, which was refreshing after having Stephanie constantly undermine and question every decision that Brooke made. Nick also had put Taylor on a leash. She at first had encourage Brooke to take the position, but then took every opportunity to bring up her past mistakes. Nick had told Taylor to back off, and she did. In fact after she had the baby, she was quite content to stay out of the fashion world, and concentrate on the baby and her own career. Which from what Brooke gathered, was not doing well. Apparently some of her clients, were appalled when they found out she had received a DUI, and despite the fact that she was acquitted of criminal charges, killed her sister-in-law. Taylor had also kept the truth of that night hidden for months. Only telling the truth, when she could no longer control the situation. Coupled with the fact that she had married her former Brother in law, some just thought she was too deviant, to give wholesome advice, especially being a psychiatrist.
Once Brooke had come on board, Nick had sought out a new head designer. Clark was so devastated when Sally died from a battle with cancer, that he lost his creative, if you could call it that, edge. Carmine breathed life into FC, and the company which started on shaky ground, quickly rose to overtake Forrester Originals. Brooke smiled to herself, when she thought of Carmine.

Carmine and Brooke had hit it off right away. At first the relationship was strictly professional. She had not been ready for any kind of relationship. She was still reeling from Ridge’s betrayal, and the hurt from Nick marrying Taylor. While she didn’t blame Nick for the end of their relationship. It hurt her deeply when he married Taylor, but she respected their relationship. After all, if Nick couldn’t be happy with her, she wanted him to be happy with someone. Taylor wouldn’t have been her first choice. However she certainly seemed to make him happy. Carmine had come from Italy. He was looking for a designing job, and FC was in the market. Brooke actually was the one who had interviewed him and after briefly consulting with Nick, offered him a position. He readily accepted, and started off designing a fall line that the critics raved about. Their first cover together, had made fantastic waves in the fashion world. Eye on Fashion dedicated a whole issue to the New Forrester Creations, declaring FC once again king of the fashion world. Brooke couldn’t have been more pleased. Finally her hard work was paying off.
As Brooke turned into the police barrack, her cell rang. “Hello” “Hello Brooke, this is Ridge.” “Yes,” Brooke responded. “I wanted to know if you could reschedule your trip?”, Ridge went on. “Why?”, asked Brooke. “Well, mother and I aren’t going to be able to watch RJ, like we planned.” “Ridge, you’ve known about this trip for weeks, the plans are set, I can not change them.” “But Logan,” “No buts Ridge,” Brooke interrupted. “I am going on this trip.” “I can not watch him Brooke.” “Well then I’ll make other arrangements then. Maybe Nick will agree to watch him.” “That is out of the question. You can cancel your trip.” “Ridge, I’m not canceling this trip, if you don’t like who I pick to watch him, then maybe your mother or you will be able too. I’m in the middle of doing some last minute errands. I’ll give you an hour, then I’ll call back, and see what your decision is then. Goodbye Ridge”, Brooke concluded before hanging up the phone. Brooke got out of the car muttering to herself, about how selfish Ridge was, and asking herself why she would waste 20 years of her life obsessing over the jackass. She walked across the parking lot, and opened the doors. At the desk, she asked to speak with Lt. Baker. She was shown into his office, and was asked to take a seat, he would be with her in a few minutes. As she sat down, she wondered what was so important. She looked through the glass windows, and saw Lt. Baker speaking with a man in a lab coat. He then turned and came into his office.
“Good morning Ms. Logan.” “Good morning Lt. Baker, as you see I came as requested. May I please know what this is about?” “Certainly Ms. Logan, I’m afraid I have some terrible news for you.”

Brooke started in her chair. “What kind of bad news?, Lt. Baker.” she stammered. “I’m afraid it involves your fiancé, Carmine.” “What about Carmine?”, she responded. “A beat officer found him dead, early this morning.” Lt. Baker responded, “I’m sorry for your loss.” Brooke started to say “Oh my God”, but didn’t get the words all the way out, before she fainted.
When she came too, Lt. Baker was standing over her with smelling salts. Brooke took a moment to gather herself. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard.
“Carmine’s dead?”, she asked. “Yes, I’m afraid he is”, responded Lt. Baker “Are you sure it’s Carmine?” Lt. Baker nodded. “What happened”, asked a clearly shaken Brooke. “We aren’t entirely sure at this point, Ms. Logan, but we have started the investigation. I want to ask you a few questions, is that okay?” “Yes, I guess so, anything I can do to help. I want to find out what happened, and if someone’s responsible I want them brought to justice.” ‘Just a few questions for now, but I want to stress to you the importance of secrecy involving this investigation. We are proceeding as if this is a murder, but as of now, we have no definate cause of death.” “Okay” “When was the last time you spoke to Carmine?” “That would be yesterday afternoon, he and I were in the office on a conference call with some of our buyers. I left shortly after to prepare for our trip to Italy.” “Does Carmine live with you?” “No, he has his own place. We weren’t going to move in together until after the wedding. He didn’t call me last night though. He usually calls to say goodnight.” “That’s all for now, Ms. Logan. May I have your cell number in case I have any further questions.” “Yes, please call if you need anything. I guess I should notify his family.” “If you don’t mind”, returned Lt. Baker, I have no idea how to get a hold of them.” “I do”, said Brooke.”When will the body be released?” “Not for a few days, I want to make sure we have everything covered.” “Okay, can you notify me when you are ready to release it?” Brooke rose to leave, she was still visibly shaken. “Certainly, would you like for me to have an officer take you home. You shouldn’t be driving, when you’re this upset.” “No, I’ll be fine.” “Are you sure, asked Lt. Baker. “Yes”, Brooke reiterated. “I just want to go home.” You mentioned secrecy, do you already have a suspect?” “We aren’t sure exactly yet, but in high profile cases, I want to keep as much from the media as possible, while we are investigating. Once we know how he died, and have some tentative suspects then...” “Then it’s not so...” “Exactly”, responded Lt. Baker, “Have a safe trip home Ms. Logan, and I’ll be in touch.”
Lt. Baker opened the door, and made a motion to one of the uniformed officers. “Please escort Ms. Logan to her car, and follow her home. I’m concerned for her safety.” “Yes sir”, responded the officer.

Whoever the killer is, I just bet their last name is Forrester!

What a wonderful story! I would love to know more about Brooke's late fiance and how they got together in the first place. And how like Ridge to expect Brooke to just cancel a long-planned business trip just because HE can't watch RJ! It's nice to see that your Lt. Baker has not only grown a brain but he also seems to have grown a pair. Excellent storytelling!

Brooke opened the front door to her house, walked inside, and collapsed on the sofa. She barely had time to collect herself when Catherine came in with RJ.
“Brooke what’s wrong?”, Catherine asked. Brooke didn’t look at all herself. Her eyes were swollen, and her usually beautiful tresses were disheveled.
“Brooke what is wrong?” Catherine asked again when Brooke didn’t answer. Brooke looked up at Catherine with despair in her eyes. Instead of addressing Catherine, Brooke said to RJ.
“Sweetie, can you go upstairs for just a few minutes, I need to speak with Catherine. RJ looked slightly confused, but responded:
“Sure mom, when is dad going to pick me up?”
Brooke responded, “I’m not sure.”
“Okay mom.” RJ said as he started his way upstairs. Brooke waited until RJ was safely upstairs, before looking at Catherine, and breaking down in a torrent of tears. Catherine sat on the sofa next to Brooke and gave her employer and friend a hug. “It can’t be that bad”, Catherine said. Brooke cried even harder. Catherine just sat quietly, hugging and soothing Brooke. She was trying to calm Brooke, so she could at least speak. They sat together for 15 minutes, until Brooke’s sobs subsided.
“How about some tea?,” Catherine asked. Brooke nodded, and a small smile made it’s way through her sorrow.
Catherine left the livingroom, and went to the kitchen to make some tea. Brooke got up off the couch and went over to the glass doors, looking over the pool area. “ Carmine, my love”, Brooke said silently to herself. “How am I going to get through this?” She thought over the time that they had spent together, starting with the fateful day Brooke met Carmine Rossi.
She remembered that day so well. It was barely two years ago. She had flown to NY for a fashion show. It was Nick’s idea. Clark was in the middle of a mental and creative breakdown. Sally, his friend, former employer, and mother of his son, had tragically died from cancer. Forrester Creations was on the ropes, and action was needed immediately or they would lose everything. Clark’s designs were never spectacular, but they were good enough to keep the company afloat. However, once Sally passed, he had not turned out one decent design. It wasn’t for lack of trying on Clark’s part, but it just wasn’t there. F C had missed their spring showing, and sales were almost nonexistent. Nick decided the best place to recruit would be NY. The fashion houses on the East Coast were sponsoring a open show for any and all designers to take part in, even unknowns. This was exactly what Nick was looking for, someone undiscovered, someone with talent. Someone that would be able to bring a fresh prospective to F C.

All the designs at the show were inspirational, but one designer’s creations totally captivated Brooke. They were everything FC was looking for, high end, elegant, and fun.
“BROOKE!”, Catherine said for the fifth time. Brooke turned around, snapping out of her memories.
“I’m sorry Catherine.”, Brooke took the cup of tea that Catherine was holding out to her.
“Can you please tell me what has you so upset?”
Brooke sighed, put her head down, and struggled to get the words out: “Carmine is dead.”
“What?, what do you mean?”
“I said Carmine is dead.”
“Oh Brooke, I’m so sorry. How did it happen?”
“We aren’t sure yet.”
RJ came down the stairs. “Mom, is Dad here yet?”
“No, sweetie he isn’t,” answered Catherine for Brooke.
“Oh, okay. Can I play video games until he comes?”he looked expectantly at his mom.
“Sure honey,” Brooke said. RJ ran back upstairs, excited. His mom didn’t usually allow him to play video games.
“Catherine, can you take RJ somewhere fun this afternoon?”
“How about I call Bridget, maybe some beach time would be good for RJ.”
“That’s a good idea. I think I need to be alone for awhile.”
“Are you sure Brooke?”
“Yes, I’m sure. I have to make some calls, and I have to deal with Ridge. He tried to back out of watching RJ for the trip.”
Catherine just rolled her eyes in response.

Catherine walked over to the phone, and called Brooke’s daughter. The phone rang several times.
"Hello, Dr. Forrester speaking."
"Hi Bridget, this is Catherine."
"Hey, Catherine"
"Your mom asked me to call you, is it possible for you to spend some time with RJ this afternoon?"
"For my favorite little brother, anything."
"Good, can you pick him up?, I’ll have him ready when you get here."
"Sure, but what’s up? Wasn’t mom supposed to leave today?"
"Yes, she was, but something’s happened and I believe the trip has been cancelled."
"Oh no", replied Bridget. “What’s wrong?”
“Your mom will explain,” Catherine answered.
“See you soon,” said Bridget.
“Okay.”
“All right Brooke, RJ is taken care of and Hope is with Nick. They left about 5 minutes before you arrived”, Catherine said as she hung up the phone and turned back to Brooke. I’m going to stay here tonight..”
“No, that’s okay,” Brooke interrupted, “I need to be alone.”
“Brooke, please…maybe I should call Rick, or maybe one of your sisters.”
“Call Rick”, Brooke relented. “Katie’s too far away, and I don’t think I could handle Donna, I love my sister, but” Catherine nodded in agreement and moved toward the phone.
“I’m going to call Nick, Brooke said. “He needs to know.” Brooke stepped outside onto the veranda to make the call. She took a few deep breaths steadied herself, and dialed Nick’s cell number.
Nick’s phone rang. It was sitting on a side table in the living room of the Marone mansion. Taylor walking by, glanced at the caller id, picked it up and answered.
“Hello Brooke,” she said in a coolly cordial voice.
“Hello Taylor,” Brooke responded. “Is Nick around?”
“He’s outside, Hope is fine. What can I do for you?”
“I need to speak with Nick, it’s about the trip to Italy.”
“Can’t it wait”, Taylor asserted.
Brooke had been trying to keep her emotions in check. “No it really can’t, if he can’t come to the phone, I’ll just drop by. It is business related.”
Taylor didn’t say anything, but walked out one of the side doors, and while handing Nick the phone, she flung out “It’s Brooke.”
Nick just gave Taylor a hard look, put the phone to his ear and said, “Hey there, are you guys leaving for the airport yet.”
Brooke’s emotions overflowed. “No Nick we’re not,” she sobbed. “Carmine is gone.”
“What do you mean gone?”
“He’s gone…..he’s he’s dead,” Brooke sobbed.
“WHAT!?!, Nick said in a shocked voice. Taylor who was standing near by smelling her prize winning roses, turned around looked at Nick with a concerned facial expression.
Brooke continued to reign herself in, she couldn’t breakdown yet.
Nick waited a moment until he could hear her breathing slow and become more measured. His heart was breaking too. He hated seeing someone he loved in so much pain. Even though he couldn’t have the relationship he wished for with her, he valued and care for her deeply still.
“Yes, Nick…Lt. Baker called this morning, and asked me to come to the station, he made it sound urgent. When I got there, he told me that Carmine was dead. They aren’t sure how yet. I can count on you to cover at the company for me.”
“Of course. What about Hope?”
“I’ll tell her. I need a few hours though, I’ll be over little later.”
“Anything else?, all you have to do is ask.” Taylor’s eyes narrowed slightly.
“No,”
“Are you sure?”
“No Nick I’m positive, Catherine’s offered to stay. Bridget is on her way over to get RJ.”
“I thought Ridge was getting RJ.” Taylor continued to listen intently, but turned back around to her roses.
“He couldn’t do it”
“Ass,” Nick said under his breath.
“Nick I really don’t need that right now.”
“You’re right Brooke, I’m sorry.”
“But you’re right.”
“I’m glad you haven’t loss your sense of humor”
“Goodbye Nick, I’ll be in touch.”
Brooke hung up quickly, Nick hearing the click closed the phone, and turned to Taylor to tell her the news.
“He almost made me smile,” she thought. She sat down in a wrought iron chair, and gathered herself for the next call she had to make.

As soon as she sat down the phone rang. She looked at it and truly debated for a second whether she should answer it or not, it was Ridge. “Sooner rather than later, “ she thought, and she put the phone up to her ear.
“Hello”
“Hi Brooke, I assume your still home.” It was Ridge.
“Yes I’m home, but not for long.”
“Good” Ridge said in an authoritive tone.
“RJ is going with Bridget, does that suit you, since Nick and Taylor weren’t suitable. I thought you couldn’t find a reason to object.”
“Uhh…No Bridget is fine.”
“Good then its settled. Good bye Ridge.” Brooke couldn’t believe how well that call went. She knew he wouldn’t call again, unless she called him.
Things with Ridge were always tenuous, especially since Carmine had come to LA. Ridge took an instant dislike to Carmine. Brooke thought that it was because of Carmine’s talent initially, but after Carmine and she became involved, his dislike grew too hostility. Ridge had also broken up with Ashley. When he came back around Brooke was done with him for good and Ridge always had issues with anyone she was involved with. She had learned her lesson about Ridge. She tried though to keep a somewhat civil relationship, even though he fought her most of the time. This trip was normal for Ridge.
Brooke sat for a few minutes, and hearing her older children’s voices, quickly stood up and walked back into the house. Rick and Bridget rushed over and hugged their mother. After a moment.
“Mom, Catherine said something terrible has happened.” Rick said.
Brooke drew back slightly, but remained close to her children. “Yes, Lt. Baker called this morning….”she drew a deep breath “The police found Carmine’s body this morning.” “I have to be strong,” she told herself.
Bridget stood there with a look of shock on her face. Rick drew back in and hugged his mother again.
Brooke accepted the hug then drew back.
“Bridget I need you to take RJ for a few hours. Rick, Catherine thinks it would be a good idea if you stay here with me. I need to gather my wits, and tell the little ones. I’m going over to Nick’s a little later to tell Hope. Can you meet me there with RJ, say at 4:00, I would like to tell them together.”
“Sure mom,” Bridget responded. “Are you sure it’s a good idea to meet at Nick’s?”
“Yes, I’ve called him and let him know what has happened.”
“Are you going to want me to keep RJ for a night or two?”
“If you are up to it honey, and if RJ is okay with it. You know how much they both adored Carmine.” Brooke’s voice became unsteady again. Bridget nodded.
“Mom,” Rick started, “Of course I’ll stay as long as you need.”
“Thank you Rick.”
Catherine came down the stairs with RJ, and he squealed when he saw his big brother and sister.
”Bridget, Catherine said I could play with you this afternoon.”
“Yes, I have a fun afternoon planned. I’m thinking the zoo.”
“YEAH, can we go NOW”
“Sure honey.”
RJ ran over and gave his mother a hug, Brooke hugged him back and fought back her tears. “I’ll see you a little later on.” She said.
Bridget and RJ walked to the door, and after a concerned glance from Bridget, walked out the door and to her car. Brooke watched from the front door until the car pulled from the driveway, then shut the door quietly.
“Rick, I’m going upstairs for a little bit. Then I have to get a hold of Carmine’s family in Florence, they are going to be expecting us. They have no idea what has happened.”
“Okay mom, I’ll be downstairs here, If you need anything”
“I know…you’ll be right here, Thank you again Rick”
Brooke climbed the stairs, and slowly made her way to the bedroom. She laid down on the bed and started to sob.

Brooke curled into the fetal position, and cried until she fell asleep. Her dreams were bittersweet.
In NYC Brooke thumbed through her brief with all the designer’s names with photos and bios on each one. Yes, this Mr. Rossi seems a good choice for us, she thought. She turned slowly and looked around the room. In the back by the wet bar Carmine Rossi stood fixing a drink. Brooke walked over; Mr. Rossi turned and almost bumped into her. Brooke quickly side stepped him, put out her hand, and introduced herself.
“Mr. Rossi, I’m Brooke Logan,” she started. “I represent Forrester Creations, a fashion house in Los Angeles. We are looking for a new head designer.” Brooke couldn’t believe how handsome this man was, and well built. His eyes seemed to be the same shade as a pool of dark chocolate and one glance into them, told her he had a truly an artist’s soul. He is the whole package Brooke thought.
“Hello Ms. Logan,” Carmine said with a thickly accented voice. He was instantly aware of how beautiful she was inside and out, but he suppressed any emotion. “How can I help you?”
“I thought your designs are exactly what my company is looking for, perhaps we can discuss them over lunch? I will be flying back out to LA early in the morning tomorrow, and I’m eager to look at your portfolio.”
“Lunch sounds excellent, Ms. Logan”
“There is a nice place for lunch down the street. Do you need to pick up your portfolio?”
“Yes, it is backstage.”
“I’ll wait for you here then.”
Carmine walked away and when he was safely out of sight, Brooke pulled out her cell phone and dialed Nick’s number.
“Nick”
“Yes”
“I think I found the perfect designer.”
“That’s great Brooke”
“I’m taking him to lunch, I’ll call you back.”
“Okay, talk to you then.”
Brooke quickly closed the phone, and slipped it back into her purse. Carmine was just walking back into the reception area. He was walking with a confident but not arrogant air, she observed. Like a man that knew what he could do, but didn’t have to flaunt it. She sighed slightly and walked to meet him.
“Are you ready?” she asked.
“Yes”
“Then let’s go”
They walked out of the reception area, into the lobby of the building, and then onto the street outside. They continued down the street for a few blocks, chatting about incidentals. Where he had grown up? Florence. His family owned a vineyard, his seven brothers and sisters. What made him pursue fashion? His love for natural beauty and making all women feel beautiful. They arrived at a small upscale delicatessen, and ordered lunch. Brooke had the house specialty salad, as well as Carmine, to Brooke’s surprise. When she commented on it, he informed her that he always ate vegetables. Except for his grandmother’s piselli al prosciutto (spring peas w/prosciutto), or fish, he told her.
After they ate, Brooke looked over his portfolio, asking him key questions. When she went through the entire book, she closed it gently, and thought for a moment.
“Mr. Rossi”
“Please Carmine.”
She smiled, “Okay Carmine. I’ve asked my questions. Now its time for yours, what can I tell you about Forrester Creations?”
Carmine smiled, he was well aware of the competition between the two fashion houses bearing the Forrester name. “There isn’t much not to know is there?”
“I’m prepared to offer you the position, if you are interested,” Brooke answered, there was no need to go through everything if he knew most of it already.
“I’m definitely interested, but I would like to meet the people I would be working with first.”
“Certainly, I have the company jet here, we can fly out whenever you like.” Brooke was anxious to seal this deal. She knew in her gut that this man would be a perfect addition to the company.
“I have a few things to tie up with the showing this morning, an hour or two at the most, and then we can go.”
“Very good, I’ll phone the pilot and have the flight plan changed. I’ll meet you at the airport. Here is the gate number.” Brooke stood up, shook his hand again “I don’t think you will regret coming, Carmine.”

:)Awesome, Horsey! You ROCK, girl! Take a BOW! And I just loved this line..... "Brooke got out of the car muttering to herself, about how selfish Ridge was, and asking herself why she would waste 20 years of her life obsessing over the jackass." Also, thanks for remembering Sally, who, IMO, was a great character when she isn't spouting "Brooke Haterade." Thanks for remembering her relationship with Clark, another underused character. And take a bow for having Baker actually pissed at this felonious bunch with money. He has every reason to be furious with the way they just skirt punishment for their crimes, while they leave so many victims-Darla, Shane, to name a few-in their wake. Carmine sounds HOT! He almost makes me think, "Nick who?" Also, I just wonder why Ridge is dodging parenting duties this time. My guess is, he is prowling the singles bars and doesn't want a child cramping his style.

Yes, it's a goal for this story to effectively put Bridge to rest FOR GOOD! I agree Sally was a great character. I know TIIC want to have her living a tropical life surrounded by men, but I wanted closure for this character. (and it served as medium to have Carmine) I can't beleive any good Lt. would let those **********, get away with what they have. Lt. Baker has a set WITH HAIR, now! Expect good things from him. Hee Hee Hee.....I like Carmine too. It's a shame I had to kill him. Can't comment.....but you all know how much I detest Ridge.

Brooke checked out of her hotel, and arrived at the airport in good time. She glanced at her watch and once again pulled out her phone. She had to call Nick and let him know. She dialed his number, but instead of Nick she got his Voice Mail. She left him a message explaining that she was flying back early with Carmine. She then made a call to FC. She had the Corporate Administrative Assistant, book a room at the Beverly Wilshire for Carmine, and instructed her to have the limo waiting at the airport. After making the arrangements, Brooke found the gate and waited for Carmine to arrive. Brooke waited for about 20 minutes, when Carmine showed up with several pieces of luggage. She greeted him.
“Good you came.”
“Of course, I’m a man of my word’
“Let me get the pilot to help with your luggage.”
“No, I can handle it myself.”
“Okay, if you insist.”
This impressed Brooke; it didn’t appear that Carmine was a typical temperamental artist. He’s down to earth, just what we are looking for. She couldn’t believe her good luck.
“Shall we board,” Brooke asked, as she nodded toward the plane.
Carmine nodded and together the boarded the plane. She pressed the intercom button, let the pilot know that they were on and ready to take off. They sat down as they heard the engines roar to life, and fastened their seatbelts. As the plane gathered momentum and taxied down the runway, Brooke sat back in the seat and smiled. Things couldn’t have gone any smoother.
Brooke still asleep in her bed, murmured Carmine’s name, rolled over, and hugged a pillow tightly.
They arrived in LA, late in the evening. Brooke suggested that he go straight to the hotel and that he could tour FC in the morning and meet everyone then. He agreed, stating he was very tired. She had the limo take him to the Wilshire, and after dropping him off and ensuring his room was to his satisfaction, went home for the evening. The next morning Brooke checked her messages. Nick had called and left a message that he received hers, and would be in the office at 10:00, he could meet with the prospective designer then. Brooke then called the Wilshire, and was connected to Carmine’s room.
“Good morning, Carmine.”
“Buon giorno,” he responded.
“Did you sleep well?”
“Yes.”
“Good, the owner of FC is available to meet with you around 10:00 this morning. Does that suit you?”
“Perfectly,” he answered.
“I’ll pick you up in a little bit then; make sure you bring your portfolio.”
“Of course, I’ll see you then.”
Brooke smiled as she hung up the phone. She went into the bathroom, showered and returned to her bedroom to get dressed. She walked downstairs and grabbed a cup of coffee. She didn’t usually drink coffee, but the past couple of days, had taken a toll. She was tired and ecstatic at the same time. She made her way out into the livingroom, and prepared to leave for the day. Hope and RJ came bounding down the steps, with Catherine in tow.
“Ready for school I see,” Brooke said as she leaned over and gave her youngest children a hug. “I missed you both.”
“We missed you too mommy.” They said at the same time.
Hope went on, “I’m glad you’re back from your trip mommy.”
“Me too sweetie, your Dance Recital is this afternoon, right.”
“Yes mommy, Nick said he was coming, will you be there too?”
“Of course sweetie, Aunt Donna, and Rick are going to be there too. You’ll have your own cheering section.”
Hope gave her mother another hug, and flashed her a sparkling smile.
Catherine interrupted, “time for breakfast and then off to school.”
“Ahhh…..” they both responded again. Catherine shooed them out of the living room and into the kitchen.
“I’ll see you both this afternoon,” Brooke called as they left the room.
Brooke grabbed her briefcase and purse and headed out the door. She had just enough time to slip by a boutique and get the perfect present for Hope, before picking up Carmine.
She pulled up at the Jackie M’s for Children, parked the car, got out and walked into the store. Hope didn’t know it but a special evening was planned for after the recital. Brooke worked on the design herself; it was the perfect dress for her little girl. She had it sent to Jackie’s to be wrapped. She walked over to the counter, and picked up the package waiting there for her. She quickly scribbled a note of thanks to Jackie, glanced at her watch. She better get a move on if she was to get Carmine to FC in time.

Wonderful, Horsey! Like Giovanna, I also wonder what Ridge's deal is. Even if he's openly hostile toward Carmine, what does that have to do with his being available for RJ? What an ass! I have no doubt that when news of Carmine's demise spreads, he'll come sniffing around Brooke again with his reptilian "charm." And what bug crawled up Taylor's behind? She's the one who put herself into Bricky's orbit and she has an attitude? I can't BELIEVE Nick is still with her! I guess Taylor will have an even bigger bug up her behind when she finds out about Carmine. Can we trust her to not think of herself this time around? Poor Brooke! Her heart is breaking and she has to be strong for her little ones. I love the way she and Carmine were together. Keep 'em coming!
