Nick sat behind his desk at Forrester Creations listening half heartedly as Storm went through his legal options for custody of Dylan. Despite the importance of the topic, he could not keep his focus, he was well aware that Storm had everything under control and he could not keep his mind off yesterday's hastily organized lunch. It had been a perfect day for a picnic, the kids had played on the swings, whilst he and Brooke and Bridget had stayed under the shelter of a nearby tree. It had made Brooke so happy to see her eldest daughter smile for the first time in months and before they had left Bridget had regained some much needed color to her face and the sparkle in her eyes was back. They did not discuss the situation that hung over all their heads like a dark cloud, it was as if none of them wanted to disturb the peaceful perfection of the day and so it remained on all their minds, but unspoken. It had been difficult for him to leave Brooke and her children when he had dropped them home, but he realized that Bridget and Brooke needed time together. So he went back to his house, the home that he had shared with Taylor and spent most of the night sitting in the empty nursery, rocking back and forth in the corner chair, trying to work out when his life had spun out of control. Nick had tried not to dwell on the possibility that Dylan was Brooke's child, but deep inside of his heart he could not stop the small kernel of hope that had blossomed. He could not stop himself visualizing Brooke and Hope, RJ and Dylan living together as a family. Shaking his head to clear that vision from his brain, he realized that he could not get too far in front of himself and he forced himself to concentrate on what Storm was saying. "Your best hope is that Taylor sees sense and gives up custody to you." Nick snorted and rolled his eyes. "We both know that is not going to happen. We are in for a fight on this and we both know that Stephanie will be standing right behind Taylor egging her on." "Probably not, but if Dylan does turn out to be Brooke's son, hopefully she will no longer want him given her feelings about my sister." “You don’t know Taylor very well mate, if Dylan does turn out to be Brooke’s son then she will do everything that she can to hold on to him, just to spite Brooke and me. She’s not stupid, she knows how I feel about Brooke.” Storm steepled his hands and rested his chin on them as he leaned forward and grinned at Nick. “Do tell. How exactly do you feel about my sister?” Nick grinned back at him unrepentantly as her replied. “I’ve never stopped loving her, surely every one knows that?” Storm shook his head, his expression suddenly serious. “Everyone perhaps except Brooke. From what she has told me, she’s convinced herself over the past several months that you only care for her as a friend.” “That’s all we can be at the moment Storm, friends. This situation isn’t ideal, but my first priority at the moment has to be my son and getting him away from Taylor’s influence. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love Brooke and it does not mean that I have forgotten a moment of the time that we spent together.” “So for now…?” “For now we will be friends and support each other through this, like we have for the past year. I can’t let anything jeopardize my custody claim and if there is any hint that Brooke and I are more that friends, Taylor could use that against me.” The two men looked at each other for a moment in silent understanding before Nick took a deep breath and said briskly, “OK lets see if we can sort out my son’s future.” Storm nodded in agreement and they both got back to the task at hand.
Taylor watched as Stephanie entered the room, with a large carryall in her hand and pair of dark glasses and a large hat not quite concealing the self-satisfied expression on her face. “Did you get everything?” Stephanie lowered herself into the chair beside Taylor’s hospital bed before replying. “Everything we need is in here.” “Good, we have to move quickly, Nick has already been in to see baby Jack this morning, so I don’t expect him back in until late this afternoon.” “Jack?” Stephanie queried, puzzled about why Taylor had changed the babies name. “After my father, you did not think that I was going to let that man to name my son did you?” Taylor replied firmly. “He is Jack Hayes, Nick has no say in anything now, especially after today.” “So when are we doing this?” Taylor looked over to make sure that the door was closed before replying. “Today, the hearing about my medical license is next week and I can’t take the chance that Nick will somehow get custody before that. The nurse I bribed will be here with the baby at 1, hopefully they won’t notice until he is due his next feed at 3pm and by then we will be long gone.” The two women smiled at each other smugly as Stephanie put the bag on the bed and began to unpack it. Noticing two airline tickets on the bed Taylor frowned. “Are you sure about this? What about Ridge and Eric won’t they suspect something if the two of us take off at the same time?” “I staged a fight with Eric last night. I told him that I needed some time alone. They think that I am already in New Hampshire, I sent a look a like in my place and she has already booked into the hotel, where she will stay in her room as ordered until I fly in and take her place.” “You’re sure that no-one will suspect anything?” “I have everything under control and besides, you can’t do this by yourself.” Taylor smiled at the older woman and reached out to clasp her hand. “Thank-you.” “No thank you.” Stephanie replied. “I hope this baby does turn out to be Brooke. I hope that I am here to see her face when she realizes he is gone for good, that you will be raising him and that there is nothing that she or Nick can do about it.”

WOW! Who knew that such evil could lurk in the hearts of two vindictive, embittered crones? They can't be allowed to get away with such evil and vileness! I loved the happy family outing and am even feeling generous toward Bridget. Not even she deserved to have a quack play with her mind and keep her in a drugged state of suspension for months. I'm thrilled that Nick is able to openly express his feelings for Brooke. However, the question remains: if he KNEW this going into his marriage to Taylor and KNEW that everyone else knew it (including his bride), WHY did he convince himself that this was what he wanted? Excellent writing, Norm811! I can't wait to read what you have in store for us next!

Nick walked through the hospital corridors headed towards the nursery, his step quickened as he neared the room, anxious to see his son. As he rounded the final corner he was surprised to see two police officers talking to a nurse outside the nursery and his heart sank to his toes. Without knowing the situation, his gut feeling was that they were here about Dylan, something was very wrong. The nurse looked up and as she saw him her face paled, confirming his worst fears. “Mr Marrone, I’m so sorry..” Nick closed his eyes and tried to gulp air through his throat that suddenly felt as though he had swallowed a billiard ball. A wave of dizziness came over him and leant against the wall as he struggled to regain his composure. “Mr Marrone?” Opening his eyes he saw that the older of the two police officers had come to stand in front of him, a sympathetic look on his face. “Yes.” Nick confirmed, amazed that he could even get that one small word out of his constricted throat. “I’m sorry to tell you, your wife and your son are missing.” Nick pushed himself upright with great effort. “You mean, my Wife has abducted my son. My three day old, premature son.” “Well Mr Marrone, we don’t have all the facts yet…” “Officer?” Nick queried and paused to allow the officer to answer. “Officer Greene.” “Officer Green, I don’t mean to be pushy but, this is a complicated situation, my Wife conceived this child by IVF. Biologically this is my son, but we used an egg donor and there may have been a mix up. The biological mother of this child may well have legal rights due to the mix up. Taylor is due to front the medical board next week to answer some pretty tough questions and she is also under investigation by the police on charges of deprivation of liberty and several other charges. Due to these matters and several other legal issues that I don’t want to get into, Taylor has been legally restrained from seeing my son without supervision.” “Yes we have been informed about that sir, but…” “I would say that her walking out of this hospital with Dylan counts as without supervision, don’t you? My wife, kidnapped my son and I want them back here and I want her charged with kidnapping.” Nick interrupted briskly. “Mr Marrone, the Police and the Hospital are doing everything possible to sort out this situation. We will leave no stone unturned..” Nick smiled mirthlessly at that comment. “While you are turning over rocks, you might want to see which one Mrs Stephanie Forrester has crawled under, I have no doubt that she is up to her neck in this.” The Officer noted the name in his note book. “We will look into that Mr Marrone.” “Excuse me?” Nick and the officer turned to see Dr Caron standing behind them, nervously twisting her hands, looking confounded to see him talking to the police. “Ah, here she is, one of the architects of this unholy stuff up. What can I do for you?” “We have the results of the Maternity tests. If you would come with me?” “I’m in the middle of another crisis that your venerable institution have contributed to.” Nick said sarcastically. “So why don’t you just tell me.” “What? I’m sorry I don’t know what you are referring to Mr Marrone, but we really should have all parties in the room when we do this.” Nick snorted and shook his head in amazement. “All parties can not be present as one of the parties has abducted the baby from the nursery. And I really need to know if he is Brooke’s son, so that I know how exactly to tell her about this. So cut to the chase and just tell me.” Dr Caron’s mouth snapped shut as he finished his rant and she shakily opened the file that she was carrying. “The test results confirm that Brooke Logan is the definitely the biological mother of Dylan Jack Marrone, Mr Marrone.” Nick’s heart leapt with joy at the news, he and Brooke had a child together. But just as quickly it plummeted as he realized the ramifications of this news. He would now have to go to Brooke and tell her that their child had been kidnapped. Kidnapped by a woman who’s mental state was questionable and who, given her actions over the past months obviously had no morals. Unfortunately there was no easy way to do this, however he phrased this it was going to break Brooke’s heart.

Oh goodness. On one hand I am estatic that Brooke is the mother. On the other, Taylor abducting the baby is going to break her freaking heart! Thankfully I have evey confidence that somehow someway the lying skanky incubator will be found and baby Dylan will be returned to his rightful parents unharmed. And that the journey there will be an exciting one full of more worth while drama than an entire year of B&B. I do think Brooke and Nick will no longer have reason to hold back their feelings for one another now that Brooke has been named the biological parent!

WHOO HOO! So the baby is Brooke and Nick's after all! However, I know that Brooke is going to be devastated when she finally comprehends the extent of Taylor and Stephanie's vindictiveness and hatred. Taking a premature baby out of the hospital like that is evil and beyond criminal! But since the quack was about to lose her license anyway, I guess one more violation of the Hippocratic Oath won't matter to her. I'm looking forward to seeing Nick and Brooke work together to have their son returned to them (hopefully unharmed). Dr. Caron is right to quake and shiver! I'm surprised that Nick didn't pounce on her the moment she appeared. Excellent!

Thanks for all the lovely feedback ladies, it makes a girls heart glad! Here is the next offering. Nick walked up the driveway of Brooke’s house with mixed emotions; on one hand he was about to tell the woman he loved that they had a beautiful baby boy. On the other hand he also had to tell her that their son had been abducted. How could he tell Brooke that her son had been taken away before she had even had a chance to hold him in her arms? Squaring his shoulders as he neared the front door, he was surprised to hear voices rose in anger. As he walked through the door he saw the source of the noise, Ridge and Brooke were standing nose to nose in the middle of the living room glaring at one another. “Ok what the hell is going on here?” Nick’s voice broke into the tense silence and they looked over at him with markedly different reactions. Brooke looked relieved, however if possible Ridge looked even angrier. “What are you doing here Popeye?” He growled, placing a possessive hand around Brooke’s wrist. “This has nothing to do with you.” Nick watched with pride as Brooke wrenched her hand away from Ridge and walked towards him with a relieved and welcoming smile. “Don’t listen to him. I was finished with our conversation anyway.” “Well I wasn’t.” Ridge snapped angrily, moving towards Brooke again. Instinctively Brooke stepped closer to Nick who blocked her from Ridge’s view as he stepped between them. “I need to talk to you alone. Where are the kids?” Brooke frowned as she saw the pallor of his face and the sadness in his eyes. “Catherine has them.” “They should have been with me.” Ridge interrupted, peeved that even when he was in the room they only had eyes for one another The blonde pair turned to face him before Brooke replied calmly. “As I have tried to tell you several times today, they have been booked in to the play centre for weeks and just because you have a sudden whim for you and Ashley to play happy families, is no reason to cancel that. Deal with it.” Ridge looked ready to argue, but he backed down as he faced the united front that the couple presented. He could not however resist one passing shot as he stalked out the door. “Getting lonely with Taylor in hospital are you? I’m sure she would be thrilled to know that you’re sniffing around Brooke again.” Brooke stood mouth agape as her ex husband walked out the door, almost speechless with rage at his spiteful comment. “Sorry about that, he’s angry and he obviously does not know the full story.” “Only you, me, your kids and the Witches of Eastwick do.” Brooke grinned at his pet name for Stephanie and Taylor. “What’s up?’ Nick motioned towards the sofa and he sat down beside her reaching out to grasp hold of her hand. “I don’t know where to begin really.” Reaching up Brooke stroked his face gently, her face reflecting her concern. “Is it Dylan? Is he ok?” She asked softly only to be shocked as his eyes welled up with tears. “Nick what is it? You’re starting to scare me now.” “I’m sorry, there is no easy way to say this.” Nick replied, taking a deep breath to try and calm his churning emotions. “I got the test results back. You are Dylan’s Mother.” Brooke’s face lit up and she smiled through the tears. “I knew it.” She whispered. “I felt it the first time I saw him, I knew he was ours.” She dropped his hands and stood up, wiping the tears from her face, “Lets go and see our son, I can’t wait to hold him.” “We can’t.” He spoke so softly that Brooke barely heard his reply. “He’s gone.” Panicked she sat down beside him. “What? What do you mean gone.” She lowered her head into her hands. “Oh my god he’s dead isn’t he?” Nick drew her hands away from her face and lifted her gaze to his. “No Brooke, he’s not dead, I sorry that I led you to think that, even for a moment. He’s been abducted from the hospital, Taylor’s missing as well, the Police think she’s kidnapped him.” Brooke’s face crumpled and she let her head rest on his shoulder as she sobbed. For a moment they sat locked together in a desperate embrace, cocooned in their mutual grief. “Brooke?” They broke apart at the sound of Eric’s voice and looked up to see the older man framed in the doorway. “What’s going on? Nick, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at the hospital helping the police search for Taylor and your son instead of sitting here on the couch with Brooke?” “Mom?” Rick walked around his father and stepped into the living room, unlike Eric he did not seem to be perturbed by the closeness of the couple on the couch. “Jackie called me and told me that I needed to come over here because Taylor had gone psycho and kidnapped my baby brother.” Eric gasped in shock. “What the hell is going on here? Taylor kidnapped RJ? I thought she and Dylan were missing? Why on earth would the Police need to know where Stephanie is?” Taking pity on Eric’s obvious bewilderment Nick rose and walked towards him. “Come in Eric, this is a long and complicated story and I think you might want to sit down for this.”

Oh, MY! Do I just LOVE how you're "fixing" Bricky! For starters, I loved the scene between Nick and Brooke. Very emotional! It also had its humorous moments thanks to the hateful Ridge and his obvious jealousy. Where does he get off grabbing Brooke's wrist anyway? He's also such a cheapshot artist and I guess I shouldn't have been that surprise by his parting shot about Taylor. That's REAL rich coming from him given the way he unceremoniously dumped her without a backwards glance. I don't know whether to feel sorry for Eric or strangely relieved that he's about to find out what kind of monster he's married to. All those elaborate arrangements to fool him all because of her obsession with Brooke! Old cow! I loved how Rick inadvertently spilled the beans. Now I'm going to settle in and look forward to Nick's explanation to Eric, along with Bricky working together to get their son back! ;D

Eric sat on the sofa next to Jacqui, clasping her hand tightly for support and tried to absorb the incredible information that he had just been given. How could he have been so blind all these years? If even half of what Nick had told him was true, both his wife and Taylor were severely unhinged. “Are you sure that Stephanie had something to do with this?” Nick looked over at the older man with sympathy. “We can’t be 100% sure at this stage but the police have sent an officer to New Hampshire to watch the hotel that Stephanie is booked into and they are monitoring her credit cards. But you know your wife and how she feels about Taylor, if anyone was going to be her accomplice in this, it would be Stephanie.” Eric shook his head sorrowfully as he acknowledged the truth of Nick’s words. It was more than just possible that Stephanie had helped Taylor it was extremely probable. If he was honest with himself, a lot of this was his fault, he’d allowed Stephanie so many free passes for her actions over the years that she clearly no longer had any sense of right or wrong. He had a feeling that what he knew of her actions towards Brooke were just the tip of the iceberg. “I’m so sorry Brooke, this is my fault, I should have..” Brooke stopped him with a touch of her hand to his knee from her seat on the sofa opposite him. “Eric this is not your fault, if Stephanie is involved…” “She is.” Nick interrupted from his seat beside her. “If she is.” Brooke continued after giving Nick look warning him to remain silent as she tried to soothe Eric’s guilt. “Then you are not responsible for her actions, she and Taylor are responsible for what they have done to Dylan.” Her voice broke as she whispered her son’s name and Nick immediately pulled her into his arms as her tears flowed again. He rocked her gently, quietly whispering soothing words into her ear as he allowed her to try and gather her emotions. Rick swallowed the lump in his own throat at his Mothers obvious anguish and rested a comforting hand on his Fathers shoulder from his position behind him. “We’ll find him Mom and anyone who is involved with this kidnapping will be punished.” Brooke looked up tearfully at her oldest son, grateful for his unwavering support. “Thank you honey. Could you do me a favor?” “Anything Mom, you know that.” She smiled through her tears at the obvious love in his voice. “Could you pick up Hope and RJ from the play gym and bring them back here for me. I need a little while to compose myself and then I need to work out what I am going to tell them.” “What we’re going to tell them.” Nick amended quickly with a reassuring smile, he was rewarded with a tremulous return smile from Brooke before she leant towards him and lowered her head to his shoulder. “Is there anything we can do?” Jacqui asked, including Eric in her query as they sat side by side drawing strength from each other. “Sorry Mother, I don’t think that there is much you can do.” Nick responded, his brow knitted in a frown as he went over and over in his mind all of the things that needed to be done, he knew that he could not handle everything himself. His brow cleared and he looked over at his Mother with a smile, he knew that she needed to feel that she was helping and he had just realized what she and Eric could do. “I think that maybe you and Eric would be the best people to tell Bridget what has happened. This is going to hit her hard, given everything that Taylor has put her through.” Eric stood and pulled Jacquie with him a determined look on his face. “You’re right, don’t you worry Brooke, I’ll make sure our girl is ok, you just concentrate on each other and your son.” With grateful but strained smiles Nick and Brooke watched as Eric, Jacqui and Rick went on their separate ways. They however stayed, clinging to one another at the door as they fare welled their vistors. “Now what do we do?” Brooke asked as she turned to face Nick. Nick gathered her back into his arms and lifted her face to his. “We keep each other strong and we pray that the police bring out son back to us. That’s all we can do.” Raising her lips to his, Brooke kissed him softly. Trying to convey with her actions what she could not find the words to say. All her love and sorrow was contained in her kiss and he responded in kind. For long moments they stayed wrapped in one another until the ringing of the phone broke them apart. With a panicked look at Nick, Brooke ran to the phone, her hands trembling as she answered it. “Hello?” After a brief moment of silence, her face paled in shock. “You Bastard!” Brooke cried angrily before slamming the phone back into the cradle and bursting in to tears. Phillip Preston sat in the lobby of the Sheraton Tara Nashua Hotel in New Hampshire trying to blend into the luxurious décor of the up market hotel, due to his rather bland looks and his beige clothes he was very successful. Most people if asked to describe him would say he was average and that was perfect for his line of work, exactly why Nick Marrone had hired him. His eyes were trained on the front door and had been for the last 8 hours. His target was Mrs Stephanie Forrester, either she would walk out of the hotel and prove her innocence, or she would walk in and prove her guilt. Time would tell.

Nick was by Brooke’s side before the phone hit the cradle. “What happened? Who was that?” he asked as he caught her up in his arms. Brooke took deep breath’s trying to control herself enough to speak. “Ridge, it was Ridge.” She managed to gasp through her shock. Nick moved her towards the couch and gently settled her on his lap, he said nothing, just holding her until she got her emotions under control. Given everything that had happened today he was amazed she was even coherent at this point. But then she had always been the strongest women, apart from his Mother of course, that he had ever known. “Brooke?” he crooned softly, “What happened? What did Ridge say?” She looked up at him and the sadness in her eyes broke his heart all over again. “He said that Dylan was Taylor’s baby and we had no right to send the police after her, according to him she was just protecting her son from me.” Nick’s mouth dropped open at the audacity of Ridge’s comment. “What?” he exclaimed in amazement. “Oh but it gets better. Apparently I had no right to blame his Mother for being involved and sending the Police after her and that I am just jealous of his relationship with her and the fact that we are no longer together.” “Nuts.” Nick said simply as he kissed her nose and smiled down at her. “The whole lot of them are absolutely nutty as fruit cakes, crazy as loons, cracked in the head, a couple of eggs short of a dozen all right..” Brooke smiled at his comment, as he had intended her too. “I believe you might be right, I can’t believe that this is the family that I was dying to be a part of. That Ridge was my obsession for so long.” The smile faded from her face however as she remembered her shock at Ridge’s comments. “How could he be so cruel to me, only a few hours ago he was telling me he loved me and that he couldn’t live without me. God I was so stupid, how could I choose him over you. Maybe if I had made better choices all of this could have been avoided.” Nick stopped her with a finger over her lips. “This is not your fault.” He stated firmly. “However in hindsight, we both made some bad choices, we both should have trusted one another more, we should have taken more care of one another.” “We’ve not talked about what this all means for us yet have we? Where do we go from here?” “No we haven’t.” Nick stated as he looked down at her and tried to read her feelings. Taking a breath he realized that he would have to take the first step. “I’m sorry for doubting you and I am sorry that I did not trust my feelings when you came back to me after you broke up with Ridge.” “I understand why you pushed me away, but I can’t say that it didn’t hurt me to watch you and Taylor together and pregnant all these months. I so wanted it to be me.” Nick ran his hands through the hair at the side of her face. “You don’t know how many times I closed my eyes and wished that it was you instead. I made so many mistakes in the last year and I am so ashamed of the way I screwed everything up. Can you forgive me?” Brooke smiled up at him with her heart in her eyes. “Only if you can forgive me?” He did not reply, just looked deeply into her eyes and smiling, before lowering his head and kissing her. He deepened the kiss as she responded, his tongue sliding over her lips, then delving into the depths of her mouth. It was like coming home he realized as she slid her arms around his neck, he felt alive for the first time in months and he wondered how he had survived with out her in his arms. ”I love you.” He whispered softly as he cupped her face and dropped fairy kisses across her brow and down her cheek until he reached her mouth again. “I never stopped, I can’t live without you anymore.” “Ditto.” Brooke whispered in response before sliding her lips over his to kiss him back, moaning softly into his mouth as she buried her hands into his hair and let him guide her backwards onto the couch. The sound of the door opening and the high pitched laughter of children brought them both upright in a hurry. By the time Rick, Hope and RJ entered, they were sitting a respectable distance apart, with slightly flushed faces and disheveled hair the only clue to what they had been doing. Rick grinned at them knowingly as he ushered the kids inside, causing them both to grin at him sheepishly. “Mommy!!” RJ cried as he threw himself into his mother’s arms. Hope said nothing, but her smile lit her face as she raced over to climb into uncle Nick’s arms. “Hey squirt.” He growled playfully as he hugged her tight. “Uncle Nick?” “Yes baby?” “Rick said you had important news.” Hope responded, looking up at her older brother and back down to Nick. “Are you coming back to live with us? Is Aunty Taylor and the baby coming too?” RJ looked up hopefully from his perch on his mothers lap. Nick and Brooke looked at each other in dismay, both of them wondering just how to explain the situation to the kids in a way that they would understand.

Norm, this is really great! I love your description of Nick's detective. Given how Stephanie typically fails when she thinks she's being so clever, I can't wait to see her trip up. I'm curious as to whether she will use cash or credit to pay for her purchases. I feel bad for Eric on so many levels. What kind of monster would go through such a ruse just to "punish" a woman she hated? And what kind of evil would compel her to again jeopardize her marriage and whatever respect her husband had for her? Ridge is a piece of crap! He knows full well what his mother is capable of (faked heart attack, etc.) and he has the nerve to defend her? While he may still have himself fooled about Taylor, he should know full well that the moment she teams up with his mother, all bets are off. Does he really believe these two harridans aren't capable of what they've done, or is he trying to twist the knife in Brooke's back because of Nick? Speaking of Nick, I love his sense of humor! Even at a time like this, there is some humor to be found in the situation. I also like the idea of Eric and Jackie teaming up. I loved the cozy picture you painted of them sitting on the couch with Jackie being particularly supportive of the man she admires. The children are just too adorable for words! RJ sounds like a real cutie pie and Hope's question is so heartbreaking in its disarming innocence. "Aunty Taylor," indeed! The child could never conceive that "Aunty Taylor" could be so evil or willfully do something to harm the baby. Nor would it ever occur to her that "Aunty Taylor" can simply live with them. Of course, my favorite part of the story were the Bricky moments! I love their closeness and their attempt to be cool so they don't get caught makes them even hotter! I loved the heart-to-heart, which was long overdue. Their relationship is solid gold and baby Dylan is the icing on the cake! Thank you for "fixing" Bricky!

Phillip Preston sat completely motionless as her watched Mrs Stephanie Forrester walk into the hotel. From his vantage point, partially camouflaged by the potted palm next to him he could see her very clearly and despite the amateur disguise of a baseball cap and sunglasses there was no doubt that he was looking at the matriarch of the Forrester family in all her glory. Stealthily he raised the tiny digital camera that was his constant companion and snapped several quick photo’s before Stephanie disappeared into the elevator. Grinning with satisfaction at another job well done, he allowed himself a brief fist pump before controlling even that small show of emotion and reached for his mobile. Within minutes he had phoned his contact in the LAPD, who had in turn organized his counterpart in New Hampshire. He would have police protection with in the next half an hour and with any luck by that time the decoy would have made her appearance and his job would be done. Within fifteen minutes of Stephanie ascending the elevator, Phillip was rewarded by the sight of a woman, clad in the same clothes, glasses and baseball hat exiting the elevator. Phillip shook his head in disbelief as he moved to intercept the woman. Obviously Stephanie had not put a great deal of thought or effort into this plan, her decoy was several inches shorter and at least three dress sizes smaller. Even an amateur could have picked her out. “Excuse me Madam.” The woman stopped in her tracks and turned to face him with a terrified expression on her face “What?” she stammered as she nervously adjusted the overlarge glasses she wore with a shaking hand. “Mrs Forrester.” He queried sarcastically. “N no, Alice Worth.” She managed to stutter in reply as she removed the cap and the glasses, “I was just coming back from seeing her though, she was tired so I didn’t stay long.” “Well I must say Miss Worth that I thought you must have been up there for a while considering you shrank considerably in height and girth.” Alice Worth’s faded blue eyes filled with tears as she realized the gig was up. No matter what she said this average looking, unemotional man was on to what-ever scheme Stephanie had dreamt up this time. “She paid me to fly here and stay at the hotel, she did not say why, just that it was very important that I stay in the room and not draw attention to myself.” Phillip looked down at the woman in front of him and realized with some surprise that he actually felt sorry for her. By the looks of her she had been through a lot in her years, difficult to tell how many years she had lived, but however long it was they’d been hard years. He tried to smile reassuringly; from the uncertain look on her face he was not very successful. “I’m not here for you Ms Worth, we are after Mrs Forrester, I am sure if you co-operate, the police will be lenient on you.” The older woman grasped his hand gratefully, “I knew her from the homeless shelter where I live, she volunteers there sometimes and she came in and offered me $1000 to do this little favor for her. I didn’t think I was hurting anyone and I didn’t think I would get in trouble with the police.” “I’m sure that they will take all of that into consideration.” Phillip soothed awkwardly, sighing with relief as he saw several Police officers bustling through the front doors. All this emotion was a bit much for him.
“Are you coming back to live with us? Is Aunty Taylor and the baby coming too?” Nick looked down at Hope and then over at Brooke with a look of dismay on his face. Hope’s innocent question had thrown him for a loop and he had no idea how he was going to explain this too her. The sound of his phone ringing saved the day and he apologetically stood and placed a disappointed Hope on the couch next to her mother. When he answered he was subjected to the sound of a woman’s screeching voice. “Hello?” “Mr Marrone?” ”Phillip?” Nick queried, straining to hear the detectives voice over the noise in the background, “What is going on, you sound like you are at the Monkey house at the Zoo.” “I feel a little like that Mr Marrone. The police have apprehended Stephanie Forrester and are in the process of trying to extradite her to LA. She’s not happy about it.” Nick clutched the phone tighter, his anxiety obvious in his voice. “Has she admitted anything yet? Has she said anything about where Taylor is?” “Sorry Sir, she refuses to talk without a lawyer.” Nick’s shoulders slumped in disappointment. “Thanks Phillip, keep me informed won’t you?” He exchanged pleasantries with the detective and then closed his phone with a snap. “Nick?” Brooke’s voice broke him from his trance. “Who was that, have they found him?” He shook his head and winced at the expression of disappointment on her face. “I’m sorry, not yet, but the Police have picked up Stephanie and their bringing her back here for questioning.” “Oooh.” The sound of Hope’s voice brought everyone’s attention back to her. “The police? Has Aunty Stephanie been naughty?” The innocent question brought a smile to everyone’s face and broke the tension, but not for long as they all pondered what the outcome of this latest development would be.

OMG That's the most hilarious remark I've heard. Hope has no idea yet how naughty Steph can be.
