Brooke looks at Taylor in stunned silence.... she lowers hers eyes for a moment and when she lifts them, they are filled with tears. "You're absolutely right, Taylor. I shouldn't be here. I came to speak openly with a friend... but I see that that is no longer possible." For a moment Brooke looks devastated.. and she looks away. She gathers her strength and looks back over at Nick who stands silently watching while Taylor defends him. Brooke walks to the door but stops with her hand on the knob. She turns to Nick and says, in a shaky voice, "You must really hate me.... first my daughter and now... her!" she indicates Taylor with a flick of her head. "You are no different than the rest of them, Nick...I guess I should be grateful that you never called me a whore." Brooke turns and walks out.. Nick calls out "Brooke!..." and steps toward the door but Taylor steps between him and the door. She places her hand on Nick's chest and tells him "Let her go, Nick... she is NOT for you..." Nick stands staring at the door...totally unaware that Taylor is stroking his chest.....

Brooke walks out the door closes it and leans back on it for a moment... she hears what she thinks is Nick calling her name but she pushes off the door and walks away, unable to take another confrontation at this time... Brooke takes the elevator down to her car and gets in... starts to drive, not really knowing where she is going. She makes it to the harbor and stands looking in the direction of the Island she once shared with Nick. "Hey Lady, need a lift?" asks a local fisherman looking for some extra bucks having already logged his catch for the day. " Brooke is silent for a moment then turns with a dazzling smile and asks him if he could take her out to an island in the bay for a while. The fisherman, totally captivated by her lovliness, tells her that he'd be delighted to take her there for as long as she'd like. He helps Brooke aboard but she sits quietly in the back of the boat lost in thought as they travel to the island. Brooke is roused from her thoughts when the fisherman tells her that they are there... he tells her they are as close as they can get. Brooke looks at the Island, 200 feet off the bow. She removes her shoes, smiles at the fisherman and asks "Wait for me?" Of course says the fisherman as she dives over the side and swims to the beach....

Nick pulls Taylor's hand from his chest while he stands still looking at the door through which Brooke left. He slowly lowers his eyes to Taylor and asks "Why? Why did you do that?" Taylor looks at Nick and places her other hand on his chest. "Because I am tired of seeing her run the show where men are concerned!" Taylor raises her hand to Nick's cheek, strokes it, " She gets what she want... uses people... I am tired of watching it!" she says seductively. Nick removes Taylor's hand from his cheek..."You're wrong," he says, " Brooke doesn't know how to use people but they sure know how to use her to get what they want!" Nick gently pushes Taylor away and goes to stand by the window. He composes himself and turns smiling.... "We were going to dinner, right?" "Right!" say Taylor confidently. Nick takes her arm and begins to walk her out... at the door he turns to look back at his office...wondering if it was all worth it....

Brooke swims to shore under the watchful eye of the fisherman. She walks out of the water and waves to him indicating that she is fine. Brooke turns and stands on the shore a moment thinking of the last time she had been there with Nick. She slowly walks up the beach and down a path to the site where she and Nick honeymooned. At the fire ring, Brooke falls to her knees and begins weeping....
Nick helps Taylor out of the limo in front of a classy French restaurant. Taylor smiles at Nick as he holds her hand and tells him that it's the perfect place. Nick smiles wanely and says "Yes, I thought you'd like it." Taylor reaches out and gives Nick a spontaneous hug... "Who wouldn't!" she says, "It's the best place in town!" Nick smiles again down at Taylor but immediately flashes back to a meal by a fire on a special island. Caught up in the memory he doesn't feel Taylor tug him toward the entrance of the restaurant.
Brooke, spent from her tears, stands up and looks around at the campsite. Standing quietly, alone, she whispers, "I couldn't risk it... I couldn't... couldn't let you... I am so tired..." Brooks sits again and composes herself. "I won't be hurt again," she says in a small but resolute voice. "I refuse to open my heart... to you ...or anyone. Ridge can't hurt me anymore. At least I know where I stand with him." Brooke looks around the campsite one last time. She stands and turns to go. She reaches down into the fire pit and pulls out a piece of charcoal. She grasps it tightly in her hand, looks down at it and says softly, "To remember what happens with true love." She turns and walks back to the water, dives in still holding the charcoal and swims back to the boat where the fisherman helps her aboard. The fisherman wraps a blanket around Brook as she sits in the back of the boat shivering, lost in thought, holding a small piece of charcoal...
Meanwhile, Nick and Taylor enter the restaurant and are met by the Matre'd. "The best table in the house for you., Mr. Marone." Nick doesn't respond so Taylor pokes him in the ribs. "Sure, sure," says Nick, "Thanks." They walk in and take their seats while Taylor keeps up a constant stream of chatter. Nick is quiet...feeling that somewhere, something is wrong..."

The fisherman returns Brooke to the shore. She smiles wanely and hands him the money to pay. The fisherman, unable to take money from such an apparently sad woman, closes her fist back around her money. "You keep it," he says gruffly. "Go buy yourself something pretty that will make you smile." Brooke smiles fully at the fisherman and tucks the money in his shirt pocket. "I am happy," she says. "Please take the money. I appreciate the ride! And you never know when I may need another lift!" "Anytime, Lady," he says, "anytime!" The fisherman watches Brooke walk away thinking pf how pretty she looked when she smiled even if it didn't reach her eyes. He sighs and pats his pocket, watching until she slips in her car and drives away. Brooke stops her car in front of Forrester Originals and slips quietly into the family elevator. She slips into her office and quickly changes into some dry clothes, hiding her wet ones in the back of a closet. Ridge knocks once and walks into the room. "Logan, where have you been? I have been looking for you to go over some new designs I have created with you in mind." Ridge slides up behind Brooke and pulls her back into his arms and nuzzles her neck. He is too wrapped up in himself to feel her brief shudder of revulsion....
Meanwhile, back at the restaurant, Nick spends the evening entertaining taylor with stories of his time at sea. Taylor, toying with her desert, looks slyly at Nick and says, "You must be happy to be a landlubber now. Look at what you have done with your life. I mean, it's not all calm waters but the sea must get tiring, exhausting!" Nick looks down at his coffee, "No, not tiring or exhausting... fascinating, always changing...challenging. Nothing can replace the sea for me...nothing... But sometimes you have to give up the things you love most... and get more grounded." He reaches over to take Taylor's hand in his. "The sea may call to me but my life is here now," Nick says still looking down at his coffee. Taylor squeezes his hand and says, " I'm so glad you came ashore!" Nick smiles at Taylor. She doesn't notice that the smile doesn't reach his eyes.

as long as y'all are gonna read it, I'll keep writing it...anything is better than the show right now. Thanks for the kind words and here we go...
The next morning finds Brooke picking up Hope from her Saturday morning dance class. While she waits, she is looking over pictures of the young girls hanging on the walls of the studio. She is smiling at one particular picture that features Hope as the lead dancer. She turns still smiling as she hears someone come through the front door. Brooke's smile freezes and instantly fades when she sees Nick come laughing through the door with Taylor on his arm. Taylor is tugging on Nick's arm and teasing him but neither notices Brooke at first. "Nick," Brooke gasps. "What are you doing here?" she asks, "And with HER!" Nick is taken aback and doesn't notice Taylor smile condescendingly at Brooke. "I'm here to pick up Hope," he states. "This is the first Saturday of the month. You know we go out for sundaes after dance!" Brooke glances at Taylor who has wrapped herself possessively around Nick's arm. "I'm sorry Nick," Brooke says cooly, "But you won't be taking Hope for ice cream today." Nick shakes Taylor off and walks up to face Brooke. "Why...why not?" he asks in a hurt tone. Brooke nods her head in Taylor's direction. "Not with her," she stresses. Nick's lips thin in anger and he tells Brooke that Taylor is in his life now and that she'll just have to get used to it. Brooke narrows her eyes and tells Nick that he can have whomever he wants in his life but he will NOT be taking her daughter or son anywhere with "that woman." Taylor seizes an advantage says to Brooke, " I can't believe that you would be so petty as to deprive your children of time with a person they love!" "I don't have to justify MY actions with MY children to you..." and turning to Nick, "Or you for that matter. You are welcome to see Hope and RJ, Nick, but alone. If you can't live with that, then you'll have to give up seeing them altogether. I won't have my children around a woman who has made it a career of putting me down. " Nick looks stunned and stammers, "I wouldn't let anyone do that, Brooke!" Brooke softens and says "I know you wouldn't," and her voice hardens, "But it'd be out before you could stop it or take it back. I'm tired of being Stephanie and Taylor's whipping boy. It's done, over! These are my conditions and I am quite inflexible about them." Nick turns and angrily grabs Taylor's arm. He drags her to the door and turns back to Brooke, "I'll call you and we can set something up." "Alone, Nick, or it's no deal." "You have my word," Nick says coldly. "Or isn't that enough?" "It's enough." Brooke says quietly. Nick notices as he goes to leave how pale Brooke has become. He takes a step toward her saying "Brooke..." "Come ON, Nick!" Taylor says tugging his arm once again. "Let's leave the witch to herself!" Brooke closes her eyes as the insult hits home. Taylor drags Nick out the door and he watches Brooke turn to catch Hope in her arms as she runs to her from the locker room...

Brooke and Hope arrive home to a note from Ridge saying that he has taken Ashley Abbott out for a business lunch to welcome her to LA. Brooke sighs almost in relief and tells Hope that it's just the girls and RJ today. How about going to the park? Once in the park, Brooke watches the kids play on the small playground, pushes RJ on the swing, helps them both go down the slide. After a while, the three amble down to the little lake where they feed the ducks and float leaves on the glassy lake surface. Brooke glances down at her watch and smiling suddenly, she takes Hope's hand and picks up RJ. She puts her nose up in the air and says haughtily... "Time for high tea at the Regents." Hope giggles and asks if they are REALLY going for tea? Brooke smiles warmly into her eyes and says, "Really, really!"
The three walk into the lobby of the Regents and approach the Matre'd who smiles recognizing Brooke from her visits to the tea Room with clients. "Three, Madame?" he says with an air that sends Hope into giggles. "Yes, Please," Brooke answers in her most upity voice. Both the Matre'D and Brooke smile at one another over the childrens' heads as he seats them in a corner behind several tall fronds. Brooke orders milk and cookes, scones and tea and sits back to enjoy the room's ambiance and her children's reactions. As Hope and RJ color on some paper placemats Brooke notices that she can see the lobby and elevators from her seat although she and the kids are quite hidden from view by those in the lobby itself. The food arrives and the three enjoy their afternoon treat. After tea, Brooke gets up to help the children into their sweaters. She hears the elevator ding and the sound of a familiar laugh. Brooke, still hidden behind the fronds, turns slowly to the sound of a man and woman giggling, and sees Ridge holding Ashley in his arms, rubbing his nose to hers. After witnessing their embrace and passionate kiss, she moves closer to hear the Ridge say, " That was incredible! It's been far too long!" "Yes," says Ashley. "When can I see you again?" "Soon," says Ridge. "I still need Brooke's investment into Forrester Originals. We can't make it without her backing." "I could get money from Jabott, Ridge." Ashley says seriously. "No, Ashley. Jabott has been through too much to sponsor a struggling fashion house. We'll wait." says Ridge. Brooke glances back at the children who are still absorbed in coloring. She steps out from behind the fronds and says, "No need to wait, Ashley, you can have him today! This afternoon actually." Ridge gasps as he realizes that Brooke knows it all. Brooke says in a cold and controlled voice, "Oh stop gasping like a fish Ridge! I want you out of the house by 5pm and if you're not out I WILL call the police." Ridge stammers, "But darling..." "Just cut it out Ridge. You don't love me...anymore than I love you." Ridge looks hurt but Brooke continues, "And you needn't worry about my money. I'm in this mess as much as you and since I don't plan on losing my shirt over you, it'll stay where it is...for NOW. Remember, out by 5 or not only will I call the police but I WILL pull my money! Now get out of my sight!"
Brooke goes back to the table and finishes buttoning up their sweaters. She is shaken but somehow relieved. She looks at her watch and realizes that she has a few hours to kill. She does not want to be around to say goodbye to Ridge. "How about a movie, you two?" Two sets of small arms wrap around her legs as they children cry out a definite YAY!

Later that evening, after Brooke has put Hope and Rj to bed, she wanders out onto her veranda with a glass of wine. Brooke walks to the railing and stares down at the lights of LA. She wonders for a moment how many of those lights contain whole, complete families. She leans against a column as the wind lifts her hair gently away from her face in a soft caress. She sighs, feeling very, very sad. She had hoped that things would have worked out with Ridge. Not for herself, no. But for RJ and Hope. All her life she had yearned for a complete family...mother, father, children...together...happy. Yes at first she had thought she could even have true love thrown in the mix but she learned quickly that nothing was a sure thing. Yes, she thought, she WAS sad...but Not heartbroken. Afterall, Ridge had lost the ability to hurt her after leaving her that last time Taylor had returned. She had his number, knew they were highly compatable in bed, but that was all there was to it anymore.
She'd had her chance at real love, true love, with Nick. For a few brief weeks life had been exquisite. She also could admit that the failure in their relationship was on both sides. She was unable to give up a close relationship with Ridge always drawn back to the dream of raising at least on of her children with their father. And Ridge hadn't helped teasing her constantly with that very dream. She thought though, that she and Nick could make it. But when her marraige got tough, she thought, the tough got going...right to the one person she couldn't handle. She could have forgiven Nick an affair with an unknown woman or even a casual acquaintance...but he had gone back to Bridget. Gone, with total disregard as to what this would do to her, her daughter and the relationship they were still in the process of mending. Brooke had wanted to forgive him...but knew, if she wanted to keep her daughter that she simply could not.
So where had that left her? Taking a sip of her wine, she toasted the lights in the city down below. Broken hearted for the last time... but with the opportunity to make at least RJ's life, and hopefully Hope's more normal. So she threw off all dreams of ever being with a man whom she truly loved to be with a man who could give her the family situation that she had craved all her life. In some ways she hated Ridge but she could have overlooked it all to give RJ and Hope a whole family...like she had always wanted for Bridget, Rick... even herself. But today had proven to her that Ridge didn't care about her children or her...he just cared about her money. So this love affair she and Ridge had shared...no...it was more like a fantasy...for over 20 years was finally over. She supposed she should feel relief and in some ways she did. But why was it, that the men that she had loved so deeply could so easily move on when she always seemed to love or at least care forever? Brooke's eyes filled with tears but she refused to let them fall. She lifted her glass one last time and toasted, "No more love relationships for Brooke...only for her children!" She drank down her wine and turned away from the twinkling lights, heading inside and to her bed....

That same night, Nick stood outside on the deck of the Shady Marlin, smioking a cigar and enjoying the warm breeze. He looks up at the twinkling stars and starts to go over the events of the past two days. He can't seem to shake from his mind the hurt look on Brooke's face when she realized that he was seeing Taylor. That really bothered him. He didn't want to hurt Brooke anymore than he already had...but he had a right to move on with his life, didn't he? Taylor was, afterall, a beautiful woman, beautiful, cool headed...cold-hearted in the way she treated Brooke, almost relishing the fact that Brooke was hurting. Yes, Taylor was a cool one. She lacked Brooke's sparkle and warmth, Nick thought. But she was available, she wanted HIM and Brooke did not.
Still, he couldn't stop thinking of Brooke's hurt look. Was something still there in her heart for him? Did he dare risk finding out? No...NO! What was he thinking?!? She was going to marry Ridge, have that happy-ever-after that he himself had dreamed of sharing with her. She would never be able to forgive him for going back to Bridget. Nick threw his cigar into the water in anger. He took a deep breath trying to ease away the self disgust he was feeling. If only I hadn't gone to Bridget, he thought. How could he have done that to Brooke? To Bridget? A moment of insanity, he thought. Of passion, and not the good kind. But it was done. It couldn't be undone and they all had to move forward. Brooke certainly had. Bridget had. It was time for Nick to move on too. Yes, Taylor was a cool one. He could love her, he thought. Be happy with her too. So what if she wasn't as passionate, as warm as..... oh stop it! Nick thought to himself. Move on! He went to step back inside and glanced once more at the skies, catching a shooting star just before going through the door....

Still that night and Ridge is pacing in his parents living room. Ashley is with him silently watching him pace while Eric and Stephanie try to calm him down. "How stupid could I be!" cries Ridge. He looks at Ashley and apologizes. "I didn't mean that like it sounded. What will we do if she pulls her money out mother?" "Ridge, Brooke isn't going to pull her money out. You said that she told you she wouldn't. That she had everything invested in this venture as well," Stephanie reminds Ridge. "I know what she said Mother but Brooke HAS been known to change her mind. What if she hooks back up with Nick?" Ridge asks, pacing once again. Stephanie smiles like a cat who has just finished a bowl of cream. "Oh, that won't happen now,"she says, "I have it from a good source that Nick is seeing Taylor and we all know how Brooke will view that little liason." "Taylor!" says Ridge incredulously. "Impossible! She'd never go for that neaderthal!" "Apparently she has, Ridge. If you object you should do something about it," mommy-dearest says. Ridge starts to say something and then looks at Ashley. He walks over to her and raises her hand to his lips. Eric looks shocked but Stephanie does not look surpised. "Mother, Eric, ...Ashley and I...well...we've had an on again off again relationship for years. It's time it was out in the open," Ridge says smiling into Ashleys eyes. She smiles back easily. Eric asks if Brooke found out about this and that is why she kicked him out. Ridge confirms as Eric turns away disgusted with his son and his treatment of a woman that Eric still cares for. "Mother, You're right. Brooke may not turn to Nick if he is with Taylor but what if she finds out about..." Stephanie interrupts quickly to stop her son's rambling. "Brooke will find out nothing, Ridge. Do you understand?" Stephanie says intently.
"I hope you're right, mother. I hope you're right...." Ridge replies uneasily.

The next morning Brooke knocks on Eric's office door and enters when he invites her in. "Good Morning Eric," Brooke says politely. She places one of two portfolios on the desk in front of him. "What's this, Brooke?" he asks in a curious tone. "My latest designs for the bedroom line," She replies. "I'd like you to select the materials and oversee the quality control." Eric is taken aback. "But you always see to these thing personally, Brooke. Why do you want me to do this?" "Because I know I can trust you with this. Look Eric. I need to get away for a while...with the kids. All this stress is taking it's toll on my family." Brooke says. Eric looks at her and notices the tired circles under her eyes, her pale complexion. "I heard about Ridge and..." he starts. "Ashley," Brooke finishes. "It's ok Eric. Better to know now, don't you think? I'm not heartbroken but I could use some space right now. I plan to take RJ and Hope to the Caribbean for a few weeks. Some sun and relaxation are definitely in order. Eric tells her that he thinks it's a good idea and he'll take care of the bedroom line. He tells her that if she needs anything she only need ask. Brooke smiles at Eric fondly and touches his cheek. "You're a good man, Eric. The best of the lot. " She turns to go and tells Eric she'll call when she gets in and let him know where they are. She leaves with a second portfolio under her arm as Eric watches her go with sadness in his own heart.
She passes Ridge's office and sees him through the doorway in an embrace with Ashley Abbott. She sticks her head in the door and tells Ridge that she is taking the children away for a few weeks. Ashley starts away from Ridge and Brooke, smiling ruefully tells her not to bother to hide it. Brooke asks Ridge if he wants to stop over to say goodbye to the children. Ridge looks away and says that his schedule is rather full but he'll talk to them on the phone when they settle in. "Fine," says Brooke who leaves them to get back to their embrace. "Funny," thinks Brooke, "he didn't even ask me where I was taking them..."
Her last stop of the day is the post office where she packages up the second portfolio and addresses it to Forrester Creation C/O Nick Marone. Inside the package are drawings of beutiful gowns and dresses she herself designed. She thought for a moment that she was positively insane sending the designs to Nick anonymously but he wouldn't have taken them any other way. No matter how he had hurt her, how they had hurt one another, she did not want to see him fail, didn't want to see him lose everything. If he chose to use her designs she would send more... but she had to try to help him even if he'd never know it was her.... She paid the postage and watched the postman take the package to the back. Done, she thought and left to return home and pack her things...

That afternoon, Bridget stops at her mothers and enters after ringing the doorbell and hearing Brooke call "Come in!" Bridget stands inside the door as Brooke looks up and tells her she'll be right with her. Brooke is leaning over the dining room table cutting PB&J sandwhiches into small mouthsized bites while RJ and Hope sit waiting for her to finish. They spot Bridget and smile and wave enthusiastically but both are too excited about the PB&J to get down from the table. Bridget watches the scene tenderly, remembering when he mother did the same for her and Rick. For a moment she is overcome with love for her mother who has endured a torrent of abuse over the years... abuse from all of them. Yet there she stood with her babies, still smiling and full of love. Bridget thought again, for the umpteenth time, what a special person her mother was. She hadn't always known it or appreciated it.
Brooke straightened, smiled at Bridget and wiping her hands crossed the room to hug her daughter. "You look beautiful as usual, sweetheart," Brooke said to her daughter after hugging her. "Is everything ok?" "Mom," Bridget says, "I'm fine! But how are you?? I can't believe Ridge..." "It's ok, Bridget. I'm sad things didn't work out but not devastated. I was really hoping that one of my children would be raised with their father in attendance but it just wasn't meant to be. Really," Brooke says when she sees the disbelief on Bridget's face, "I AM ok." Bridget studies her mother's face for a moment in silence then says in wonder, "You didn't love Ridge anymore...did you?" Brooke turns away but doesn't deny her daughter's observation. "And what does Nick think of all of this?" Bridget asks. "He doesn't know and really, it's none of his business!" Brooke responds shortly. "He loves you, Mom" Bridget replies in exasperation. "LoveD past tense being the operative word here," Brooke says, "We really don't need to go over this Bridget. " "My therapists says we DO need to go over this Mom. That you and I should stop avoiding the subject." She turns her mother to face her. "Listen, I thought I loved Nick. I did. But recently I have come to understand that he was to me what... what..." Bridget looks away... "What Ridge....," Brooke finishes slowly, "was to me." "An obsession!" they both say together. Mother and daughter smile tentatively at one another. "If you love Nick, Mom, you need to tell him, show him. I am ok with things now...REALLY ok. My therapist helped me to see the way things really were...are." "What else does your therapist say?" Brooke asks changing the subject and curious all the same. "That I need to give closure to my miscarraiges," Bridget says. "And to do that I have gotten myself assigned to the maternity ward at the hospital. I am starting with patients slowly, dealing with all the emotions that come with treating pregnant women and newborns. It's tough sometimes but when it's too much I head for the file cabinets!!" Bridgets laughs. "You wouldn't believe what a mess the files and filing system is in there. I have been assigned to go through every file for the past 3 years and get the place in ship shape!"
Bridget's use of a nautical term reminds both women of Nick. Bridget starts again, " Mom, if Nick..." Brooke interupts her daughter, "he's moved on Bridget. It's over." Bridget sees that her mother is upset so she drops the subject finding it hard to believe that anyone could replace her mother in Nick's heart. "Let's go help you pack," Bridget says as she slips her hand through her mother's arm. Brooke turns Bridget to the table and points out two faces and 4 hands covered in PB&J. They both end up giggling as Brooke says they'd better take care of "THAT" first!...

Late in the afternoon, Nick is sitting at his desk at FC and looking over the designs for his late spring/early summer line. He slams the portfolio shut and gets up to pace, eventually ending up looking out his office window at the city below. He thinks to himself that Clarks designs aren't bad...really... but they just aren't up to snuff. Even though Nick is not a designer he does understand that people have certain expectations when it comes to Forrester Creations and his team is falling far short. Not for the first time this same week does he wonders if this vengence against his brother and Stephanie is worth it. He could lose everything and then who would have the last laugh? Losing Brooke had been bad enought...but would he lose his shirt AND his dignity? There is a knock on the door and Donna Logan sticks her head in. "You have a package. Special delivery but no return address." Nick asks her if she's sure it's not a letter bomb and she tells him it was screened as usual in the mailroom. He tells her to put in on his desk, he'll see to it in a minute. "How much longer do you need me Nick? I want to stop over and see Brooke and the kids before she leaves town. " she explains. Nick looks taken aback. "Ridge is leaving town just before his new opening? I can't believe it!" Nick says. Donna looks away and tells Nick that Ridge isn't going with Brooke... She's going alone with the kids. Nick looks skeptical but Donna, catching his look tells him it's true. "I don't know exactly what's going on but my plant at FO tells me that it has something to do with the very beautiful Ashley Abbott," says Donna. "Then Ridge is an even BIGGER fool than I have given him credit for..." Nick all but growls. Donna tells him she'd like to head out in a half an hour. Nick tells her that it's fine... he'll lock up. He turns back to the window more disturbed than before. After a moment he remembers the large flat package and goes to see what quack has sent him advertising materials. He open the package and turns over a new portfolio cover. He opens the portfolio and stares at a gorgeous dress design. He takes the portfolio and lays each design out side by side on the conference table getting more and more excited with each design. He checks the package again but sees no return address, no signiture, no copy right. He comes to the last design and catches his breath. It is a design for an incredibly romantic wedding dress...old fashioned, drawn in pale pink. Nick walks away from the table with the drawing in his hand trying to imagine it on a woman. Brooke immediately comes to mind and Nick realizes that this dress could have been designed solely for her. Trying to be impartial he tries to imagine it on Taylor and fails miserably...not her style. She is the cool sophisticate...not the warm, loving girl-next-door. He places the design in the portfolio and hides it in his desk. Nick presses the intercomm and tells Donna to get the team in there immediately! Within 15 minutes, Donna, Jackie, Clark and other team members are assembled around the table taking in the designs. Jackie slides up to Nick and placing her arm through his, tells him that the designs are wonderful! Just what they need! She asks Nick where they came from and Nick explains to them all about the anonymous package. Clark looks closely at the lower right hand of each drawing and sees a small FC. "It's like the person gave us full licence," he says. "And the lawyers are checking on that as we speak Clark," Nick tells him. Nick looks at the group and says, "This is it...our summer line. Be ready to get to work first thing in the morning!" The team breaks to leave and Nick calls out to his Mother asking her to stay. After the others have left, Nick goes to the desk and pulls out the last drawing. Jackie stares at the dress enchanted. "It's ... it's..gorgeous!" she states. "It looks like it was made for..." she stops, looks at her son. "Brooke," He replies, "I know." He tells Jackie that he only wants one of these made and he wants her to oversee the material selection and the assembly. Jackie agrees to the plan, already trying to figure out how to get Brooke's measurements....

Late that evening, after Donna had left and the children were in bed, Brooke proceeded to clean up the pool area outside on her terrace. She pick up several floats and arm floaties storing them in the little poolhouse. She closes the door and steps back toward the pool thinking about her conversation with Donna. She was glad to hear that Nick and his team liked the designs and planned to use them. Donna had explained all about the intrigue and Brooke had had a difficult time not smiling. She did smile now, satisfied that Nick would keep his company to see another season. She turned to walk back in the house and stopped by the pergola where she and Nick had renewed their vows. She reached out and touched the vine covered wood thinking how in those moments she had been sure that she and Nick had another chance to get things right. That hadn't lasted long, she thought, as her eyes began to well with tears. Not NOW, she told herself. I am not going to cry, not going to go back. She pushed away from the structure and turned to go back inside. By tomorrow evening, she and the kids would be away from these memories and starting in a new direction. She was ready to leave some memories behind...
