I love that you are showing Ridge for the blowhard and arrogant jackass that he is! Poor Thomas does sound a tad disturbed ... but with his self-involved father and demented grandma...who can blame him? I am glad your Eric is reacting so realistically and so viscerally to Stephanie's 40 year scam and lie about Ridge. Oh ... and I can't wait for the High Tea!

:)for fleshing out Catherine, and giving her a backbone, instead of a jelly fish, turning and twisting which ever way the winds blows. It's little details like this, that make me care about a character, especially one in a supporting role. Another glaring error in BB's judgment IMO. If you build up a character slowly, and leave the audience wondering what else you don't know about a character, then, curiousity takes over, and more people are likely to turn in. SIMPLE Bravo! Bravo! Thank you, Horsey! I'm glad that you enjoyed the way I fleshed Catherine out as a character. I wanted to make her a more integral part of the story instead of a modern day Mary Poppins who was typically in the background. This is another complaint I've had with Brad Bell, as well. Unless you're wealthy apparently, you have no life or ambitions. Not only do they not have lives or families of their own, they co-op the lives of their employers. One of the things I wanted to do with Catherine is to make her more of an advocate for the children who are in her charge. I also wanted to ensure that she had a life of her own. Nor did I want her to feel intimidated especially around people who believe they are inherently "better" than she is simply because of their station in life.

Wow! This is an awsome story! I am humbled! I must admit I am a little disturbed about Thomas tho... Keep er comin MissJr. ;D Thanks, newestconvert! If anything, it's I who am humbled. Thank you! I have to admit that I feel badly for Thomas and it's always bugged me that his behavior after Taylor's death was totally glossed over. The grownups weren't really paying a lot of attention onscreen and they don't seem to be doing a good job of it here either!

I am glad your Eric is reacting so realistically and so viscerally to Stephanie's 40 year scam and lie about Ridge. Oh ... and I can't wait for the High Tea! Thanks, ML! Ridge has been told all his life how wonderful he is simply "because." He's been catered to, indulged, spoiled, coddled and accommodated. It must be a real shock for him at times when people such as that "lowly" reservations clerk told him off after he publicly disrespected her. It must gall him to no end that her boss has yet to fire her or to accept that he [Ridge] was the wronged party. Poor thing! I suspect he's going to have more eye-opening moments like this, and he won't like it one bit. Thomas is a problem and unless someone wakes up and starts paying attention real soon, he's going to get worse. As for Eric, not only is he getting a backbone but he's waking up to some very unpleasant truths about his wife. I'm glad you used the word, "scam," to describe what Stephanie did. There are some lies one can apologize for and it's okay. Then there are others where a simple "OOPS! I'm sorry!" will not suffice; not to mention it's downright insulting. As someone said last Sunday, a lie is a deliberate act undertaken with the clear intent to deceive and to manipulate. It's something that conmen [confidence men] do to their victims. The only way the scam could work for the conman is by gaining the confidence of the victim. No doubt Stephanie did that in spades just by virtue of her family's good name and position in society. After all, I'm sure she was considered a "good girl" instead of someone who slept around on campus back in the day!

What he needs is a session with MY stepfather, who would have ordered him to apologize to that poor woman who had to sit there and listen to his comments.

Having left the Culver City studios of the Shannon Reed Show after her taping earlier that morning, Macy received a raucous round of applause from several well-wishers as she walked triumphantly into the newly reborn Spectra Fashions. She appreciatively accepted the compliments of her fans and even graciously stopped to sign a few autographs before heading upstairs to her mother's office. Feeling flushed with success, she could not help but marvel at the turn her life had taken in the past year. While she did, indeed, suffer some devastating setbacks, she had proven to be her mother's daughter as she embraced life. For starters, her coffers were bountiful thanks to the fees she received from public appearances and speaking engagements. Because of the considerable airplay her music received while she was "dead," ASCAP forwarded several hefty royalty checks to Sally, who was her next of kin. A grief-stricken Sally had quietly deposited the royalty checks into a separate account, intending to use the money to set up a foundation in Macy's name. As word of Macy's "resurrection" spread and as her profile increased, so did her popularity. Offers from record producers and recording artists to do collaborative projects started pouring in. Even the great Clive Davis himself invited her to his legendary pre-Grammy soiree at his Malibu home—an invitation she gladly accepted. Macy made a surprise appearance at the Grammy's, which represented the culmination of what had been a year-long coming-out party. She was elegantly attired in a silver crocheted lace sheath, which was designed specifically for her by Spectra's premiere designer, Clarke. The dress hugged her exquisite figure and she positively sparkled thanks to the loan of a platinum and diamond choker and matching earrings from Van Cleef and Arpels. Escorted by little brother, CJ (handsomely turned out in a custom-designed tux), Macy walked the red carpet as if she were the Queen of Sheba. She smiled and "vogued" for the cameras as one reporter and commentator after another stuck a microphone in her face and asked for her opinions about the evening's nominees and festivities. She and CJ later made their rounds to the post-Grammy after-parties, including the official one at the Biltmore. That night, she was in her element. Mary J. Blige and her producer husband warmly congratulated her. She posed for pictures with Beyoncé, Sting and Trudie Styler, Gwen Stefani and other high-profile celebrities. She discussed world hunger with Bono and vowed to make herself available for one of the causes dear to his heart. Although she was reluctant at first, Macy embraced her previous life with a gusto that impressed even her mother. Virtually everything was falling into place and she couldn't have been happier. However, every once in a while, she allowed herself to think about the heartache she endured thanks to Brooke and Thorne. Macy frowned in irritation. It infuriated her that she sacrificed her marriage only for that "walking piece of pornography" to turn around and marry Ridge. She would publicly expose Brooke for the tramp she was and that morning's taping of the Shannon Reed Show was only the beginning in what she promised would be a long campaign geared towards Brooke's personal destruction. She hadn't even begun to make that tramp pay, and pay she would! Macy silently vowed. Macy smirked as she exited the elevator. "It's MY turn now! The Brooke Logan Show is finally over!" _______________

Deep in thought, Ridge made himself comfortable in one of the armchairs of the sumptuously decorated hotel lobby. He smelled Massimo's grubby paws all over this one. Was there nothing or NO ONE that this man didn't control? How dare he interfere in his life this way? A resentful Ridge seethed. The man only found out a year ago that he was his father, and he had been overstepping his bounds ever since. Brooke was HIS, and no one was going to keep them apart. Ridge picked up a copy of the ridiculously irrelevant Sunset People and did a slow burn. He couldn't believe that she would cause him and his kids all this grief just to prove a point. If she was pissed—okay—he got it already! Now, it was time for her to stop all this foolishness and return home with him. He had a honeymoon planned and two heartbroken little girls at home. He promised to return with Brooke and Hope and that's what he intended to do. Ridge felt slightly guilty as he again wondered if he could follow through on his promise to the twins. As he absently flipped through Sunset People, he spied a glamour shot of himself and Brooke in the section containing the engagement and wedding announcements of L.A.'s A-Listers and celebrities. Damn! Here, he had Freda Frump, the society editor, in his home yesterday. However, instead of witnessing Beverly Hills' long-awaited wedding of the year, she witnessed his humiliation. Now, the announcement seemed premature and inappropriate. He had no doubt that Freda's poison pen was furiously writing about yesterday's fiasco and that when she was done, he would be a laughingstock. He, Ridge Forrester—every woman's dream—received the ultimate smackdown! But, that was alright, Ridge told himself. If he played his cards right, he and Brooke could elope tonight and be in Greece by this time tomorrow. The Forrester jet was fully fueled and the pilot was on standby. The scandal-seeking Ms. Frump would have no choice but to retract her claws and pick up her jaw from off the floor. Now, all he had to do was convince Brooke that they belonged together, and she needed to get over what she thought she saw and heard yesterday. So engrossed was Ridge in his mission that the tap on his shoulder startled him. He looked up into the face of a well-dressed security guard elegantly and discreetly dressed in a black double-breasted suit. "Yes? Is there something I can do for you?" Ridge asked in irritation. "Sir, I believe you were asked to vacate the hotel." "Don't tell me you don't know who I AM! I'm a paying guest and I have a right—" "Yes, we're well aware of who you are, Mr. Forrester." The unimpressed security guard stated in a monotone voice. "As for your rights ... the hotel is enforcing its rights, as well as the rights of our other patrons to the quiet enjoyment of the premises." Ridge was none too happy about being reminded yet again that he was, indeed, infringing on the rights of others especially by someone he considered beneath him. "It so happens that I'm here waiting for my wife, and you have no right to interfere in what is obviously a private matter!" He blustered. "With all due respect, sir, it's my understanding that your wife has been deceased for a little over six months now. My deepest condolences," the security guard respectfully said with a nod of his head. "The h—?!" Ridge bristled in outrage, immediately jumping to his feet and flinging the newspaper in the chair. He didn't care if people were gawking or whispering; he was just simply fed up. This nimrod knew good and damn well that he wasn't talking about Taylor! "Sir?" The security guard asked. "You know what? Who needs this! It's like everyone has gone crazy around here." A frustrated Ridge growled in disgust. With as much dignity as he could muster, he headed toward the exit. "I'll be back!" He promised. _______________

"Can you believe that man's nerve?" Brooke asked Katie. "Oh, yes, I can. He must have fallen and bumped his head," Katie commented. "Actually, he DID fall and took quite a few bumps!" Brooke giggled. "Oh, yeah—how could I have forgotten?" Katie smiled looking like a cat that had just enjoyed a saucer of rich cream. "Okay, now you know that wasn't funny," Brooke gently scolded her. However, she could barely suppress her smile as she recalled the actions that led to Ridge's fall and resulting injuries the day before. There was so much action at Ridge's house the day before; even Vince McMahon would have been impressed. "Well, it was no more than he deserved. I'm just sorry that Bridget couldn't get hers, too, but her day is coming!" An unsympathetic Katie snarked. "Come on, Katie. Let's don't start that again," Brooke moaned. "Besides, we’re supposed to be relaxing." "I can't help it! You know, I just don't get him at all. He's gotten so many chances and the one time when everything should have been perfect—when there were no more obstacles—he goes and creates one." "I know," Brooke sighed. "Year in and year out, I listened to his reasons and justifications as to why he couldn't put me first. I hung on to every mixed signal he gave me, hoping and believing that if only his mother would stop interfering; if only he wasn't manipulated into staying with Taylor; if only we weren't with other partners; if only I measured up. If, if, if! It just embarrasses me to think of how long he's kept me hanging on and dangling. He's like a horny teenage boy, always wanting a Plan B woman waiting in the wings. I can't afford to wait for him to grow up on my time; I won't do it anymore!" "But, you still love him," Katie quietly observed. "I—I don't." Brooke responded a little too quickly. "I'm not exactly being honest am I?" She sheepishly asked. Katie smiled at her compassionately and shook her head. "Okay, maybe I do, but I no longer respect him and a part of he hates him and everything he stands for." "Wonder what his next move will be?" "I don't know," Brooke shrugged. "It doesn't take a lot of speculation to guess that he'll resort to the same old standbys. _______________

The saying goes: The bigger they are the harder they fall. I can't wait for the fall. Well, I DID want Macy to have some fun before the you-know-what hits the fan! She is definitely riding in some pretty high-falutin' circles these days. The question is, will she remember the old saying that the same people you meet on your way UP the ladder are the same ones you meet on your way DOWN?

"You really don't like Bridget, do you?" Stephanie bluntly asked, smirking. Catherine's eyes widened in surprise; however, she refused to allow Stephanie to turn this into a personality conflict and deftly ignored the bait. "What's not to like? She's smart, efficient, and has always been respectful and polite." "What a politically correct response," Stephanie laughed humorlessly. "Now, tell me the truth; you've been doing a good job of it so far," Stephanie said in an attempt to rile Catherine up. "You mentioned that Tricia hadn't counted on Bridget; I want to know what you meant by that." "Just what I said," Catherine replied nimbly stepping around another of Stephanie's landmines. "I thought it was strange that Tricia Quick's brand of 'counseling' apparently didn't extend to the children; in fact, not once did she even suggest that the children get counseling themselves. Tricia was focused solely on Ridge. That's where Bridget picked up the slack and did an amazing job of helping Ridge and the kids cope. I don't know what we would have done without her." "But ... ?" Stephanie continued to probe. "But ... there were problems," Catherine admitted, treading carefully. "At first it didn't seem like much so I ignored my first instincts and brushed it off. But, things escalated to the point where I finally expressed my concerns to Ridge." "What was it that you were so concerned about?" "Certain boundaries were being crossed to the point they became blurred. There were little things—such as the children, particularly Thomas, wishing that Bridget could be their new mom instead of Brooke. At first, Bridget tried to discourage them, but there came a point where she ... she ... well—she didn't seem that concerned about the confusing messages the children were getting, especially Thomas. I specifically recall one instance where I overheard him telling Bridget that he wished she could be his mother and move in and be a family with Ridge. While she gave lip service to correcting him, there was no doubt in my mind that she was doing what she could to promote her own agenda." "I see," Stephanie commented grimly. "And, what agenda was she supposedly promoting?" "That she was a more appropriate custodian for the children than—than Brooke. In fact, Brooke had been effectively shut out. Initially, it was Brooke's idea to have Bridget spend as much time with Ridge and the children. At Bridget's suggestion, Brooke put some distance between herself, the children and Ridge to give them a chance to heal and adjust." "What's so wrong about that?" Stephanie asked. As far as she was concerned, Bridget was right about that slut. "On the surface—nothing. But, there was something extremely manipulative about the whole thing. You know, I even convinced myself that I was imagining things. Bridget would spend hours poring over pictures and watching videos of Taylor. It was almost as if she were studying Taylor. The next thing I knew, she had adopted some of Taylor's mannerisms—the way she walked, talked and sat. She repeatedly said that Taylor was her role model. And, Mrs. Forrester, I'm going to say something that you may not like, but it needs to be said. It was clear that she was trying to supplant Brooke. In fact, Bridget seemed like an actress acting out a play—a play where she cast herself as ... well, as Ridge's WIFE and the children's mother." Catherine revealed. "And, what did my son do about this?" A pale Stephanie soberly asked as she digested this disquieting revelation. "That was the most disturbing thing of all. Nothing. He did absolutely nothing." _______________

"I'm not ready to talk about that yet," Eric responded to Thorne's question. "Dad, did whatever happened—is that why the wedding was called off?" Kristen inquired. Out of a desire not to hurt her father even further, she chose to remain mum about her own suspicions which had been aroused when she observed her mother, Massimo and Bridget in an impromptu confab after Brooke ran upstairs. "I haven't had a chance to talk to Brooke yet, but I have no doubt that that's why the wedding was stopped." "Well, since you haven't talked to Brooke yet, then maybe you can hold off on your decision to punish Ridge." Felicia suggested hopefully. "Baby, this isn't about punishing Ridge. This is about business." "It just seems to me that you're being unfair," Felicia frowned. "It's a family business, and Ridge is family." "Well, you all will just have to trust me on this." Eric said. "Right now, with all this talk about lies and paternity, I can't help but wonder ... " Eric faltered as he looked into the faces of his children. "Wonder what?" Kristen asked, terrified of where her father was going. "If you're all actually mine!" _______________

It sickens me to see what a lapdog Eric has become onscreen. Such a gorgeous man and he's stuck with this castrating, ball-breaking shrew! And reading the day-ahead for tomorrow only reinforces how whipped he is. My Eric will keep that backbone at least for a while. He wants to protect the interests of all of his children while Stephanie has only been obsessed with the interests of Ridge. She's so busy worrying about what's been going on in Ridge's house that it doesn't occur to her that Eric is making some serious moves. He typically rolls over and plays dead and she knows that. However, he just may surprise her this time!

"Oh, Nickeeeee!" A delighted Jackie squealed, unable to help herself. Controlling the urge to turn right around and walk out, Nick cringed. "If you keep it up, I'm out of here!" Nick warned. "Oh, Nick, stop it, "Jackie scolded her son. "You certainly can't blame me for being proud. I never thought I would see the day!" Jackie enthused as she took in Nick's now clean-shaven face and his business casual apparel. His mother's approval caused Nick to become even more self-conscious. "Yeah, be proud; just don't overdo it." He mumbled gruffly. "Of course!" Jackie smiled broadly. "By the way, you clean up pretty well yourself," Nick observed. "Why, thank you, darling," Jackie said. Smartly attired in a pale pink two-piece Burberry crepe de chine day suit with three-quarter length sleeves, she was chic but unstuffy. A pair of taupe colored pumps with tiny rosettes on the toe, with a matching clutch purse, complemented the suit. Jackie flouted tradition and decided to skip a hat, choosing instead to sweep her dark locks into a chignon, which was fastened securely at the nape of her neck. The tendrils which framed her face kept her coiffure from looking too severe. A strand of salt water cultured pearls and a pair of matching earrings completed her look. Her Borghese makeup was tastefully applied, the cherry lipstick complimenting her perfect English skin which was aglow with excitement. "If you would bear with me, I have one more thing to check and then we can be on our way." "Take your time," Nick replied. It wasn't as if he were any particular hurry anyway. Under the circumstances, what man would be? As Jackie walked toward her bedroom, she found herself smiling again. She just couldn't get over how handsome Nicky looked! Of course, she was curious as to what compelled him to shave off his beard; however, she knew better than to ask. 'Twas a shame that Brooke Logan couldn't see him right now, she thought. Undoubtedly, the poor dear was tucked away in seclusion. If only she could find a way to get the two of them together—after a decent interval of course. "Oh, stop it!" Jackie reproached herself for having such wicked thoughts. If the good Lord intended for Nicky and Brooke to be together, then He would undoubtedly find a way to make it happen without any help from her._______________

"Well, maybe Ridge didn't see things the way you did," Stephanie said defensively, not liking at all what she was hearing. "After all, there's nothing wrong with his sister helping him and his family in their time of grief." "No, there isn't. But, Mrs. Forrester—well, Thomas is an 11-year-old boy! He's old enough to know full well that that his aunt couldn't marry his father and live happily ever after as a family. And Bridget certainly didn't help matters any—looking at Ridge that way." "Looking at Ridge what way?" Stephanie asked with a sinking heart, already knowing what was coming. "Mrs. Forrester, I think you already KNOW the answer to that!" Catherine rolled her eyes in exasperation. "What way?!" An aggravated Stephanie demanded. "The way a girl looks at a lover." _______________

"You're wondering if we're actually yours?" Kristen cried. "Dad, how could you even doubt that?" "For real." Felicia chimed in. "It's pretty conceivable that Mother could have tricked you in the beginning, but continuing to trick you after you were married? I mean come on, Dad. I look just like Ridge!" Kristen gasped in shock and Eric visibly blanched and turned as pale as a sheet. Thorne shot his sister a venomous look. "Flea!" He yelled. He loved his sister dearly and admired her outspokenness but there were times when he wanted to strangle her. Felicia, for one of the few times in her life, was clearly embarrassed and hastily apologized for her blunder. "Dad, I'm sorry. I didn't mean—well, I have your cheekbones," she clumsily attempted to clean up her statement. "It's alright, honey." Eric reassured her. "No, Dad, it's NOT alright!" Thorne screamed. "She needs to check herself. You know, Felicia, just once, I really wish you would think before you open your big mouth!" "Excuse me? Who do you think you're talking to?" Felicia hotly demanded. "You must have me confused with Macy or some other weak, pathetic woman because—" "Come on, you two," Kristen—always the peacemaker—entreated as things were getting out of hand. "We're all pretty emotional right now, and there's enough fighting in this family as it is." "And I'm only adding to all the bad blood by expressing my doubts," Eric sighed. "I know it's not right but your mother has deceived me in the worst way possible, and it's not the first time. You may recall that for over 20 years, she concealed the existence of your sister, Angela, from me." He reminded his children. "That's TWO children she's lied to me about! So forgive me if I'm having doubts about everything at this point. I'm almost tempted to have you all—" Eric stopped abruptly. "Tempted to do what?" Thorne asked with a furrowed brow. "To—to—ah, hell! Never mind; just forget I said anything." Eric moaned miserably. "Oh, my God ... you want us to have paternity tests taken, don't you?" A shocked Felicia gasped. _______________

8-)love it MissJr. I suspected that you might have them all tested, whether you actually do or not doesn't matter. We got the point!! I am really liking your Forrester family scene. You've nailed each one perfectly! It flows very nicely. I love how Felicia just blurts out what everyone in the room must be thinking, but don't have enough gumption to say it!

If only the show had had the courage to do something like this years ago when the truth about Ridge's paternity was revealed. It amazed me that his siblings would be so accepting or not feel some kind of resentment for the way their mother always favored him. And what man wouldn't have doubts under the circumstances?

It simply wasn't true! On the verge of falling to the floor in a dead faint, Stephanie refused to believe her ears. Several times she shook her head in denial. "I don't believe it." She said hoarsely to Catherine's incredible claim. She found it difficult to believe that Ridge would condone, much less encourage such a thing."As I said before, he did nothing." Catherine restated, refusing to sugarcoat things for Stephanie's sake. "There came a point where I wondered why he was even marrying Brooke." "Please! It shouldn't be THAT hard to figure out. Of course, he came to his senses!" Stephanie snorted, all but forgetting what actually happened the day before. Catherine frowned in irritation. How tacky! Stephanie had a right to her feelings, but to openly express them to someone outside the family was in extremely poor taste. Catherine also found herself wondering if the woman was a little detached from reality. After all, it was actually Brooke who seemed to have come to HER senses, she thought. "I guess my point was that Ridge seemed to be looking for a replacement." "Ridge was just confused!" Stephanie insisted. "That's the only explanation I can think of for this—this mess." Catherine hesitated before answering, but it had to be said. " In all honesty, Mrs. Forrester, I don't think Ridge was all that confused. He's a parent and surely understands the importance of setting boundaries. It was more than obvious to me that he enjoyed every bit of the attention and adoration. In fact, he loved it." _______________

Anxiously awaiting the imminent arrival of her next patient, Dr. Ileana Garcia glanced at her watch. She had been employed for 20 years as a criminal psychologist with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. For the last seven years, she had been on the staff of the California Institution for Women. The 120-acre facility, which was located 37 miles east of Los Angeles and 90 miles northwest of San Diego, housed approximately 1,500 Level I, II and III female offenders although it was originally designed to hold 1,026. In addition to specializing in academic, vocational, pre-release and substance abuse programs, the institution had facilities to accommodate inmates with special needs such as psychiatric care, pregnancy, and medical problems, including infectious diseases. Dr. Garcia had always believed that every offender deserved a chance at rehabilitation. Occasionally, however, she encountered a patient who challenged her progressive beliefs. As a scientist, she was trained to focus on the logical and technical, including extenuating circumstances that would explain an offender's motives. Therefore, she dismissed the concept of evil or the "bad seed"—a person so malignantly evil that the evil was believed to be inherently ingrained. Such individuals were sometimes thought to be beyond the reach of traditional treatments. Dr. Garcia could not help wondering if her patient, CDC Inmate #634-5789, could, in fact, be characterized as such a person. Sentenced to 25 years to life for second-degree murder, Inmate #634-5789 had been placed in Administrative Segregation due to the high-profile nature of her crimes, as well as an escape attempt. Not surprisingly, she met all the diagnostic criteria for Antisocial Personality Disorder. Dr. Garcia realized early on that treatment would be extremely challenging for this particular patient, who exhibited a total lack of regard for the moral and legal standards of society and appeared to be devoid of any conscience whatsoever. In addition, she exhibited some narcissistic and Borderline Personality Disorder traits. Very attractive, articulate, highly motivated, and brilliant, she could best be described as the sociopath next door. The last 20 years of her life had been full of chaos and madness, and she had brought untold suffering to many. That she was able to procure the attention of several prominent and wealthy men was hardly surprising. Dr. Garcia found that such women were extremely adept at hiding their true personalities from the men they hoped to ensnare. However, as time went on, it became more difficult to maintain the façade. By the time the men discovered their mistake, it was usually too late. Predictably, Inmate #634-5789's behavior escalated from the most basic levels of deceit and chicanery into increasingly more heinous crimes. Her rap sheet included the falsification of medical records; kidnapping; suspected matricide; simple assault; several murder attempts; eluding arrest; and finally the homicide that resulted in her current incarceration. During one memorable session, she even hinted at yet another homicide—one which she tauntingly claimed no one could prove. Given the woman's resourcefulness, Dr. Garcia had no doubt that there was an element of truth to her boasts. During her sessions with Dr. Garcia, the prisoner was often uncooperative and surly. In the few instances when she was fully engaged, she enjoyed verbally sparring with Dr. Garcia. On those occasions, she was glib, rude, and sarcastic. Although Inmate #634-5789 expressed some remorse for her crimes, Dr. Garcia noted that she typically had a ready and pat answer, justification and rationalization for everything she did. "Come in." Dr. Garcia called in an authoritative voice when a few short raps on her door signaled her patient's arrival. Her door opened and her patient entered, along with a uniformed female corrections officer. The officer efficiently unlocked and removed the handcuffs from the prisoner's bound hands. However, the prisoner's ankles remained shackled, signaling that she was still considered a high security risk. Wearing prison-issue clothing, she sat tight-lipped and defiant in an orange chair on the other side of Dr. Garcia's desk. Given the woman's current physical condition, Dr. Garcia wondered if the shackles were unduly punitive. "Forty minutes," Dr. Garcia calmly stated, as she nodded briefly at the corrections officer. "Right, Doc. I'll be right outside." The officer said with a warning glance at the prisoner as she closed the door behind her. Dr. Garcia made a few notations in the patient's file. She had no doubt that this session, like the others, would leave her physically drained. Dr. Garcia then looked across her desk into the cold brown eyes of Sheila Carter, CDC Inmate #634-5789. A perceptible chill raced down Dr. Garcia's spine as she stared into the face of evil. _______________
