For us Bricky fans that can't wait to see what happens next week, this is what I would love to see happen...
Brooke tries to stop Nick from killing Ridge; she knows what the consequences would be and desperately wants to save Nick from his anger. He misunderstands her intentions (again) and after getting a few more pot shots in at Ridge, leaves Brooke to tend to Ridge’s ego and bloodied body. She has feelings for Ridge and always will but not the kind we all think, her love for him has changed into something she knows cannot make her happy and it’s something she doesn't want anymore. But the soft spot she has for Ridge has her looking after him and driving him back to LA.
Nick, still consumed by his anger and the betrayal by Brooke’s concern for Ridge, arrives at the Shady Marlin and throws a few things around. Taylor shows up (doesn’t she have other friends? Where the hell is Hector?) And tries to reason with Nick. She tells him she doesn’t want to be the one to say I told you so but Ridge and Brooke are a life force on their own and anyone caught up in that becomes a casualty. Nick’s listening quietly and finally tells Taylor she was right. He fills her in on what went down up at Big Bear and Brooke’s role in the whole mess. She gets on her high horse again and starts bashing Brooke to Nick. He tells her to stop and get away from him. She tries to comfort him, she touches his face, pained by what he thinks is the loss of his one true love. Taylor being the slimy two faced witch looks deep into his eyes and comes closer to his face. Nick looks at her, wanting to give into the moment, to forget the pain his feeling but at that moment Taylor’s face morphs into Brooke’s and then back into Taylor’s. He pulls away, he can’t, as much as he wants to get away from the all the pain he is in, he just can’t. He asks her to leave, she protests not wanting to leave him in this state, she’s his friend, wants to be there for him (I bet she does). He yells at her to get out, leave him alone, go psycho analyse one of her patients. She hesitates but leaves a sullen Nick.
Brooke arrives back in LA and takes Ridge to the hospital. He has a few cuts and his face is all bruised. He begs her to stay, she looks at him silently, nodding her head. She paces the hospital room, we see her flashing back to her past with Ridge, but instead of seeing the happy shots (the numerous weddings) we see only the times of when he’s hurt her, him choosing Caroline, him proposing to Taylor on the runway, him getting married to Taylor while she was still pregnant with Bridget, and so on and so on. Ridge finally comes back in with the doctor, he’s ok just a bit beat up. The doctor wants him to stay overnight but will release him home if someone’s there to look after him. Brooke says she will handle it from here. Ridge hugs her, glad she’s there for him. She asks if he’s feeling ok. He nods and starts to reach out for her. She moves away, he asks what’s the matter(??) She tells him if he know how long she’s loved him? He nods… her whole life, there was a time when he was her whole life, she couldn’t function without his love. Even the times he chose other women over her she still had hope. He starts to apologise again and she cuts him off. All those years of abuse from Stephanie, the judgements from Taylor, she still had hope that maybe one day she will have the happiness she’s been longing for, been living for. And then finally it happened for them, for her. Their wedding and RJ's birth was the most incredible days of her life, the time they were married was the most fulfilling and loving time of her life. But as usual it didn’t last, her insecurities surfaced again with the whole Bridget fiasco but she still managed to convince herself she had what she always wanted. A life with him and she let the Bridget episode behind her. And then her world came crashing down around her… Taylor came back. She still hoped that he would remember their connection, the family they had created in the last couple of years and she hoped and prayed with all her heart he would chose her… but he didn’t… he chose Taylor. Even after it was revealed he was manipulated, he chose to throw away their family and pick up with Taylor. He starts to apologise again, promising her a lifetime of happiness, she will never have to be scared again. But she keeps her resolve, she asks him to please listen to her, not just hear what he wants to hear. She finally found someone who she was number 1 to, someone who never made her doubt herself, never made her feel second best. Unfortunately it was her daughter’s husband. After everything she had put her family through in the past, she could not go through the pain and shame of hurting Bridget again, she vowed that would never happen. So she tried to put those feelings away. But every night she lie awake, thinking about Nick, yearning for Nick but Bridget came first, Brooke had changed, she would no longer let passion rule her life… so she chose to give Ridge a second chance… she agreed to marry him, it would be the best for all concerned. But Nick would not give up and that’s what happened the night she was supposed to get married to Ridge. Her heart so desperately belonged to Nick but she couldn’t hurt Bridget again. Then finally it had all come together for them. They didn’t even have to be intimate with one another to realize the love they share are what fairytales are made of. She tells Ridge this must be hard for him to hear but Nick has her heart, all of it. She used to think sex was the way to a man’s heart and for a long time it was the only way to Ridge’s heart but Nick changed all that for her. He made her love herself again, made her see she is good enough and didn’t need a man in her pants to feel good about herself again. And then Ridge violated all of that the night before. But she is glad that it happened. He looks at her strangely, positive that she is still upset about what happened and that she’s not thinking straight. Oh Ridge she says, she has been thinking straight the past few months but he didn’t want to hear what she was telling him. Maybe she should’ve have said it louder, shouted it from the roof tops, taken out a full page ad but that was neither here nor there. She has forgiven him yes, and as much as he hurt her, whether he meant to or not, he just showed her that that is what he does best… he hurts her. Last night Ridge done her a favour, he had finally severed the hold he had over her for so long. He looks at her, pain in his eyes, he finally sees what has been so clear to everyone, Brooke is gone. He can never have her, he’s had her body all these years but her soul is lost to him. He can’t speak, tears rolling down his face… he tries to speak… Logan he calls her. She starts to cry, Please let her go, let her be happy, end this rollercoaster that has caused so much pain and hurt for everyone for the last 2 decades she says. She’s let him go, it’s time for him to let her go… he can’t, he can’t accept it, he can’t live his life without her. Please he begs, tears still running down his face, his voice broken… please he can’t… go on without her. She strokes his face, wipes his tears away and says, It’s over Ridge… I’m inlove with Nick, and I always will be. He is and always will be the man for me, the man I want to share my life, my soul and my body with. She gets up, walks to the door, he calls out her name… Logan… she stops for a second, lets out a deep sigh, turn the doorknob and walks through the door… Ridge looks on like he can’t believe what just happened. No he shouts… No… as the pain of hearing the truth dawns upon him.
Brooke gets home exhausted by the day’s events. The house is silent, for once she can hear herself think without people coming through there like it was a hotel. She looks at all the pictures around the house, she opens a draw and takes out one with her Ridge, RJ and Hope. She throws it in the trash can. She walks up the stairs to her bedroom. She looks around, hearing Ridge’s voice. She shakes her head and heads to the phone. She asks for Raphael (her designer friend) to come to her house first thing in the morning, she going away for a couple of days but when she comes back she wants her bedroom changed, she wants everything gone, bed, sheets, towels, the whole lot. She trusts his design sense, whatever the cost she wants a new bedroom by the time she gets back. Work can start right away.
She goes to have a shower, packs some clothes, dons a trench coat and walks to leave the room. She turns around as she opens the door and Ridge’s voice starts up again in her head but as she walks through the door the voice gets softer and softer until there is nothing but the sound of the door closing.
Nick is still on his boat, staring at a bottle of whiskey, debating whether he should take a drink or not. He scared he might not stop if he does. He looks up and sees Brooke in the doorway. He turns away, asking her if she’s here to let him down easy as she’s obviously back with Ridge. She comes in and closes the door behind her. How could she, how could she forgive Ridge for what he did to her, for what he did to them? How could she just let him off like that? He can never and will never understand what she sees in Ridge! What the hell is she doing there anyways?
Nick she says softly as she starts walking closer to him. He backs away, visibly shaken as he dreads what he’s about to hear. She starts to talk, telling him how she met Ridge, her life loving him. Her whole existence was built on the hope that one day she will be happy with the man she thought was her destiny. And she finally had that even though it didn’t last she was finally happy. And in true Brooke and Ridge style, it didn’t last. Of one thing she was certain, Ridge would always hurt her. He didn’t mean it, he didn’t know, maybe yes but fact is he does.
She comes closer to Nick. She closes her eyes and opens them again and he is still standing in front of her. She smiles… I love you Nick… I’ve loved you since the day I was born but I just didn’t know it. You changed me, you changed my life, you’re my angel and I thank god tonight for sending you to me. Nick, tears rolling down his face can’t believe what he’s hearing. What about Ridge and what happened up at Big Bear? Why did you forgive him? He asks her. Because I had too… for us all to heal and move forward I had to let go of him. I had to let go of everything that Ridge has been to me. I let go of the love, the anger, the disappointment… I let go of the hurt Nick. I let go of Ridge forever. Can’t you see I had to do that so that there would be nothing to tie me to Ridge? He looks at her surprised, she wipes his tears, takes his hand, lies it on her chest and says… there’s nothing in here but love for you, Nick Payne. No hurt, no pain, no anger, no memories, a clean slate for us…
He grabs her, kisses her and they both have tears rolling down their faces. For Brooke it’s the final release of years of always being insecure. For Nick it’s the realization of all his dreams come true, he can’t believe he almost lost her. Their kisses turn more passionate, more wanting, more intense. They can’t even break from each other to take a breath. She stops him, walks away a little and unties the belt of her coat. She stands before him naked, not just her body her heart as well. She pulls him closer to her, and he kisses her deeply. They finally break free, she motions him to the bed. He stops her, is she sure this is what she wants? She nods her reply. Yes Nick, this is what I’ve wanted for so long. I want you, all of you, tonight, tomorrow and all the days after that.
Back to Ridge, he arrives at Brooke’s house. He stands outside for a couple of minutes, remembering Brooke’s words, trying to come up with something that would change her mind. He turns the door handle but the door is locked (for once). He rings the bell and Catherine answers the door. He walks in and she is shocked to see his face like that. It’s nothing he says before asking where Brooke is. Catherine tells him she’s not there. When is she coming back? Not for a couple of days is the answer. Ridge gets worried now, what do you mean a couple of days? What about the kids? Oh hope and RJ are staying with her for the night and then they’ll be joining Brooke tomorrow. Where are you going he demands to know. Catherine walks away, I don’t want to get involved Ridge but Brooke asked me not to mention anything about where we’re going. Tell me, I need to know where my son will be if I need to see him. He’ll stay with Hope and RJ till Brooke gets back. Not possible as the workmen arrive first thing in the morning. Workmen? Yes she says. Brooke’s having her bedroom remodelled and wants it done before she gets back. Ridge finally understands now what’s happening. He has to go as he runs out of the house. He’s head spins and he feels faint and he realizing Brooke meant what she said to him at the hospital. It wasn’t all a dream; this is a nightmare, one he can’t seem to wake up from. He staggers to his car, and speeds down the driveway, Brooke’s huge mansion growing in the background. AS he’s driving he feels a pain in his chest, he tries to take a deep breath to calm himself but his chest tightens and he has trouble breathing… he gasp for air… what’s happening, he asks himself panicking.
Meanwhile at romance central, Brooke undoes Nick’s shirt, gently kisses his chest, he closes his eyes, enjoying what her touch, her kisses does to him. He opens his eyes again, cups her face and kisses her. He gently removes her coat and lies her down on the bed. They look into each other’s eyes, smiling she reaches up to him, he lies down over her, covers her mouth with kisses, kisses her neck, and she moans his name.
Back to Ridge in his car, he’s not doing great so great. He can’t breath; he can’t focus on the road. He manages to pull over and tries to get his breath back. He looks frightened, not sure what’s happening to him. He’s vision gets blurry, the pain in his chest gets worse… it’s as someone is ripping his heart out. He grabs his chest…
And there in the moonlight, on the Shady Marlin, Nick and Brooke start their lives together, free from anger and hate, free from hurt and guilt, free to love each other. And also in the same moonlight, Ridge is slumped across his wheel, not breathing, all alone…
So as one era ends, another begins the end of love story and the start of a new one, a dynasty built on love, mutual respect and happiness…
