We open to a shot of a schooner sailing across the sea as the sunlight is fading. Brooke is sitting on a bench near the back of the boat. Nick walks with two steaming mugs in his hands and a blanket draped across his arm.
Nick: It's getting a little chilly out here, I thought you might like some hot cocoa. and a blanket after the sun sets.
Brooke: Thanks Nick, I was feeling a bit of a chill. I thought it was just because it's so beautiful out here.
Nick smiles and looks out over the ocean then turns back to Brooke.
Nick: It looks like we are just in time for the show. Maybe I should wake Hope?
Brooke: No, let her sleep. She's had a long day.
Nick: You're right. Besides, the sound of the ocean would just lull her back to sleep.
Brooke (yawning): It must be working on me too.
Nick: Here, let's get you all wrapped up.
He wraps the blanket around her shoulders and sits down beside her. The sun has dropped and the sky is filled with colors of blue, purple, orange and pink.
B: It's so peaceful out here. I almost wish I didn't have to go back to LA.
N: It's times like these that makes me want to shed these city legs and go back to the sea. I miss watching the sunrise and sunset on an endless landscape of water.
B: Sounds lonely.
N: It was never a problem before. But now, I think you're right. I would have to have someone there to share it with me.
The silence settles in between them as the pair sits quietly watching the sunset on the horizon. Nick sees something and points it out to Brooke.
N: Look there!
We see a pair of dolphins following the ship. One jumps up out of the ocean followed quickly by the second. Brooke laughs at their antics. Nick is busy looking at Brooke, like he's memorizing every part of this moment.
Back at TRidge Manor:
Taylor is sitting on the couch when we hear a key in the door. "Ridge?" Taylor calls out as she goes to the door. Thomas walks in.
Taylor: Hi Thomas. I thought you were you're father.
Thomas: He's not home yet?
Taylor: No and I'm starting to get worried.
Thomas: Why, what happened?
Taylor: Someone sent Ridge a photo, and I believe he thinks it was Amber. Either that or he's out looking for Brooke.
Thomas: Amber? I don't think she would do this, not now.
Taylor: I'm a little lost here. Why would Ridge and Massimo think Amber would do something like this?
Thomas: Because she has before.
Taylor looks puzzled.: Why? Why would Amber want to hurt Ridge?
Thomas: Mother, maybe you should sit down. I don't think you are going to like what I have to tell you.
Taylor looks really perplexed.
On the Shady Marlin:
Bridgette is up on deck, looking out over the water when she hears footsteps behind her. "Nick?" she says as she turns.
Ridge: No it's just me kiddo. I just stopped by to see if maybe your mother was here. I stopped by her house, but no one was there.
Bridgette sighs: No, they aren't back yet.
Ridge: Is something wrong, Bridgette?
Bridgette looks at him as tears well up in her eyes and then she hugs him and starts sobbing.
Ridge looks like his worst fears were realized.
R: Bridgette, tell me, what's wrong. What did Nick do to you?!
Bridgette, sniffling: It's not Nick. I'm just really having a bad day.
Ridge hugs her a little closer and strokes her hair. He whispers against her head, me too kiddo, me too.
Back on the ocean:
Nick and Brooke are still sitting on the bench. It's dark now and Brooke has fallen asleep on Nick's shoulder. Nick has his arm around her. He starts thinking about Bridgette and thinks back to the conversation where he promises her that he's committed to her and he never breaks a promise. He looks troubled.
At TRidge Manor:
Taylor: ( in disbelief) Did something happen between your father and Amber?
Thomas: Not exactly? You see mom, Amber and I became very close after her divorce from Rick. In fact, we dated for several months.
Taylor (not believing what's she's hearing): You and Amber?
Thomas: I know, everyone is always down on her, but she has some good qualities too. I really liked Amber.
Taylor: And your Father didn't, I gather.
Thomas: That's putting it mildly. He did everything possible to keep her away from me. He even took out a restraining order against her.
Taylor (considering this): Well, your Father is very protective. I'm sure he was doing what he thought was best. I would have to agree with him though. Amber is not the person I would expect to see you with. For one, the age difference is a big factor.
Thomas: At the time, that didn't matter to me. But when she tried to blackmail Dad into accepting our relationship, I realized Dad was right.
Taylor: Blackmail him. With what?
Thomas gets up and walks over to the fireplace, not knowing if he should say anything more.
Taylor: Thomas what is it? What did Ridge do?
Thomas: Mom, I really think Dad should be the one to tell you.
Taylor looks disappointed, but agrees. She walks over to Thomas and gives him a hug.
Taylor: You're right. I'll talk to your father...(pause) ...as soon as he gets home. (Taylor is looking toward the door, worried.)
On the Shady Marlin:
Bridgette and Ridge are now inside, talking.
R: So what has you so upset?
B: It's a lot of things. The wedding, Stephanie, Jackie...the way people keep telling me I'm rushing into this marriage.
Then she looks at Ridge and remembers he was against this too.
B: I guess you think the same thing?
She looks directly at Ridge when he doesn't answer immediately.
B: You still think Nick is in love with Brooke too.
Ride sighs: Why else would he whisk your mother away, and leave you here alone?
B: Ridge, it's not what you think. I wanted to stay here. I had some things to take care of.
Bridgette gets a sad and distant look.
R: Do you want to tell me what happened today?
B: Oh Ridge. Jackie is determined to stop this marriage. She even had Oscar fly back here.
R: Oscar's back? But you broke things off with him?
B: I wasn't completely honest with you about the reasons I came back home.
R: It wasn't because you were trying to come to terms with what happened with us?
B: Maybe I thought that was a big part of it. But I came back with a broken heart and a broken spirit. Not because of you but because of someone I met in Copenhagen.
R: Someone? Not Oscar?
B: No. Someone, who at the time, reminded me a lot of you.
Nick: It's getting a little chilly out here, I thought you might like some hot cocoa. and a blanket after the sun sets.
Brooke: Thanks Nick, I was feeling a bit of a chill. I thought it was just because it's so beautiful out here.
