An Apartment in Century City Ten P.M.
Giovanni stepped out of the shower and wrapped himself in a white, terrycloth robe. He had taken his date back to her place and returned home, as he had a meeting with his boss the next morning. He exhaled as he poured a glass of scotch and turned on the TV.
The local news certainly was getting a lot of mileage over Ridge Forrester's firing, he thought. He sat on the sofa and shook his head as the reporter mentioned that Ridge had attacked Brooke. What kind of man attacks a woman, he thought. He thought about asking Brooke, but thought it would be impolite. Then he smiled at the way she dropped that glass earlier. Why? Did he make her nervous? Maybe he shouldn't have asked her out, as from what he had heard, she had been engaged to Ridge and she was probably not ready for another relationship.
Still....
Deacon's Apartment Same Time
Deacon entered his humble abode, and glanced at himself in the mirror. Not bad, not bad at all. Nothing like dinner with a gorgeous woman to lift his spirits. Felicia was a trip. It turned out that she had lived overseas and had a son. After some small talk, she had grown serious and discussed herself. She had been diagnosed with cancer, but had beaten it and had almost gotten married, but it turned out that the groom was into Bridgette. Deacon's face darkened. And she was busy with the family business, being the good daughter. What with working and motherhood, it looked like the lady needed to unwind, and he, Deacon, decided he knew just the way to do it.

Forrester Creations, Brooke's Office The Next Morning, Nine O'Clock
Brooke entered her office and tossed her briefcase on the desk. She was wearing black pants as well as a green silk blouse that had a cape-like quality to it. She exhaled as she thought about her plans for the day. As much as she was dreading it, she had to meet with Ridge and Jon for the sale of the shares. She also had Connor and a security guard attending, as she was not going to let those two snakes screw her around. She shook her head as she thought of the security guard who worked during the day, David Milligan. He was a good man and it made her angry that he was laid up in the hospital because Ridge had to be an idiot. She didn't buy his crap that the gun went off. Hopefully Mr. Milligan had gotten the flowers she had sent, and would be back at work.
Megan buzzed her on the phone.
Megan: Brooke? Giovanni is here to see you.
She sighed.
Brooke: Send him in.
He entered, dressed in a white shirt and wool pants. She smiled, as she was used to him wearing black.
Brooke: Giovanni.
He nodded.
Giovanni: I saw you at Spago's last night. Why didn't you come over?
Brooke: I didn't want to interrupt your date. Plus I have a big day planned, and I wanted to turn in early.
He looked at her curiously.
Brooke: I have to meet with Ridge about buying his shares.
Giovanni: Are you sure that's a good idea?
She looked at him, and he gestured towards her neck.
Brooke: I have a guard in case things get ugly.
Giovanni: The one who was shot. Is he okay?
Brooke: He's fine. I gave him a week off, with pay.
Giovanni: Are we meeting later?
Brooke: Yes. I just need to get this over with.
Giovanni: Well, I guess I'll see you later. Buzz me when you're ready.
Brooke: Certainly.
He left. Her cell phone rang, and she picked it up.
Brooke: Hello.
Caller: Brooke, it's Connor. I'm on my way up.
Brooke: Ok. Meet me in the conference room.

The Conference Room Ten Minutes Later
Brooke sat next to Connor, the forms in front of her.
Connor: Brooke, are you sure about this?
Brooke: Yes.
Connor: It's not your job to clean up after Ridge.
Brooke: I know. But I don't see why Taylor and her children should suffer because of his screw-up.
Jon and Ridge entered. Brooke noticed that her former fiancee looked tired.
Jon: Connor, Brooke.
Connor nodded.
Brooke: Gentlemen. Please have a seat.
They did.
Brooke: Ok, I have a check for the purchase of Ridge's shares. After I had it over and sign this form, I want the shares transfered over to me.
Jon: Certainly. They will be before the end of business today.
Brooke: Also, there is a catch. Sixty percent of the proceeds of the sale are to go directly to Taylor Hayes Forrester.
Jon: Excuse me?
Brooke: I don't want your client profiting at my expense or the expense of his children.
Ridge: I don't believe this. Not only are you forcing me to sell, but you're also dictating how I spend the money.
Brooke: I don't care how you spend your shares. I just want to make sure that sixty percent goes to Taylor.
Ridge: And if I don't?
Connor: Then you face criminal charges. And before you squawk, you need to remember that you were the one who begged Brooke not to file charges. Weren't you the one who said, "I'll give you anything"?
Ridge exhaled.
Ridge: All right, I'll sign it. Anything to stay out of jail.
He signed the form and threw it at her. She signed and handed him the check, then stood up.
Brooke: Ok, I believe we're done her.
She turned to the security guard.
Brooke: Escort Mr. Forrester and his lawyer out of the building and make damn sure they don't come back. And don't let them make any pit stops.
Brooke's Office Ten Minutes Later
Brooke entered and shut the door. She walked over to her desk and started shaking. All the anger, frustration, and horror at the way she had spent over ten years trying to get the approval of that monster and his mother, only to be dumped repeatedly, as well as the pressure of being tough and in control in front of everyone but her sister, washed over her.
God, all the names they had called her...
Whore Tramp Insecure girl from the valley You don't measure up.
She clutched the side of her desk and started crying.
Her phone rang.
Brooke: Hello?
Damn, I sound hoarse.
Megan: Brooke, it's Giovanni.
Damn, I hate having a designer see me like this. But I can't make him wait.
Brooke: Send him in.
He entered.
Giovanni: Brooke.
She exhaled.
Giovanni: I-are you all right?
She covered her mouth.
Brooke: I'll be fine.
He came closer and handed her his handkerchief. She took it and laughed dryly.
Brooke: Damn, I don't normally do this.
Giovanni: Did he do anything to you?
Brooke: I-no. It went pretty smoothly. I-just am usually more focused than this.
Giovanni: Well, you not only fired the head designer and hired a replacement, but you fired the founder's son. And you have had to deal with the publicity of that fallout, and the pain of being attacked. I'd say you've had a tough week. You're holding up pretty well.

Brooke's Office Same Time
Brooke laughed nervously, and he wiped a tear from her eyes.
Giovanni: Are you feeling up to our meeting later?
Brooke: I'm fine.
Impulsively he slid his arms around her and held her.
Damn, I need this, she thought. Just don't kiss me.
The Forrester Mansion An Hour Later
Ridge slammed his way into the foyer and buzzed for Irina. After selling his shares, he and Jon had left, only to be set upon by a bunch of reporters, only this time, they weren't interested in his firing, they were interested in his kissing Bridgette.
Reporter #1: Ridge, is this picture of you and Bridgette a fake?
Reporter #2: Isn't she your sister?
Reporter #3: Did you two make love? Is that the reason Brooke Logan fired you?
Damn vultures.
Jon had fielded them with "No comment," but the look of disgust on his face said it all. On the way home, he had his driver pick up Eye on Fashion. Maybe he was being paranoid, but he thought he saw the man give him a dirty look. Sure enough, there was the picture of him and Bridgette, in full color, with the headline, You Might Be a Redneck if You Go to Your Family Reunion Looking for a Date.
He was going to kill whomever leaked this picture. Only he didn't know who had done it.
The Hard Rock Cafe Same Time
Zach Hamilton checked his watch. He knew he was there early, but he hadn't spent much time talking to his sister. And she had left for work, telling him to meet her here for lunch.
He was a tall, handsome man with dark hair and deep blue eyes that were more violet than blue. And he had the same high cheekbones that his sister had, as well as the ivory skin that could sell skin products. He looked up as he saw his sister enter. It had been over a year since he had seen her, and he knew she had had a rough time since Ridge had walked out on her. When they were kids, she was always looking out for him, and he was here to return the favor.
Taylor approached the table where her baby brother was sitting. She had to smile, as she noticed some of the women were checking him out. In spite of a rough childhood, Zach was now a financial analyst at an investment firm in Santa Barbara. He certainly was handsome, in addition to being smart, and she was surprised that some woman hadn't snatched him up.

Hard Rock Cafe Same Time
Taylor smiled at her brother, and he stood up and hugged her warmly.
Zach: Hey, sis, you look great. Ridge is an idiot for letting you go.
She laughed as she sat down.
Taylor: Have you been waiting long?
He sat down and picked up his menu.
Zach: No, I haven't, actually.
The waitress came over and took their order, double-checking Zach as she walked off.
Taylor: That waitress was checking you out.
Zach laughed.
Zach: How are things with you?
Taylor: Well, I opened up my practice again, and I do rounds at the hospital occasionally. Funny, my checks are starting to look bigger than Ridge's.
Zach: Well, don't tell him that. He owes you, after all he put you through.
Taylor sighed.
Zach: What?
Taylor: He's been bothering me lately.
Zach's eyes darkened.
Zach: How do you mean?
Taylor: Well, it's like this.
Ten Minutes Later
Zach: Let me get this straight, he knew that you had gotten home before you telling him?
Taylor: Yeah, he said he saw me drive up.
Zach: Well, why is he there at all?
Taylor: He's having problems with Brooke.
Zach: Not your concern. And if he is lurking around your home, then he is stalking you. Did you tell your lawyer?
Taylor: No.
Zach: Well, you should. Not to sound paranoid, but he has no business being at your place.
Across the restaurant, Bridgette waited for her table. She noticed Taylor, sitting at a booth and waved. Taylor smiled and waved back, and her date turned around. Bridgette's mouth fell open.
Damn, that guy is gorgeous, she thought. Just my luck he's with Taylor. How the hell can I compete with her?
The man smiled and turned back to Taylor.
Zach: She's attractive. Do you know her?
Taylor suppressed a smile. So her kid brother was interested in Bridgette.
Taylor: I do, actually. She's Brooke's daughter, Bridgette.
Zach: Little Budge? She sure grew up, didn't she?

Brooke's Office Four O'Clock
Brooke went over the accounting printouts and caught a few entries that didn't make sense. Damn, we are paying this accountant enough, he shouldn't be this sloppy. She frowned, then made a note in her date-book to meet with him the next day. She would give him until Friday to correct these errors, and if he didn't, then she would give him the ax. She leaned back and thought about Shawn. He had an MBA from a prestigious school, maybe they could hire him. He seemed like a smart guy, and she was impressed with the way he was willing to push the envelope when he wanted something. Plus he would probably be good at keeping an eye on things, and God knows he had no loyalty to Ridge.
I need to call my mom about Hope and RJ, she thought as she leaned back. It occurred to her that this was the longest time she had been away from them, and she missed them.
It had been a busy morning, what with buying the shares. She felt like she had buried the hatchet with Taylor by including that clause. She also felt like she was closing a chapter on her life and moving on. Plus she felt better after crying, it served as a release. She closed her eyes as she thought about Giovanni and how thoughtful he had been.
She remembered that moment.
She broke away and wiped her eyes.
He looked at the floor, away from her.
Giovanni: Sorry.
Brooke: For what?
Giovanni: Crossing a line.
Brooke: You didn't, actually. I-damn, you're right, I have had a tough week. I just needed a little support. Being the CEO can be trying.
He exhaled.
Giovanni: I don't normally-
Brooke: No, it's ok. Well, I need to get some of your sketches down to production.
After he left, she had rolled up her sleeves and started on looking over the finances. She looked at her watch and decided that she should call it a day. The stock purchase and reviewing the books had drained her, and she needed to relax. She picked up her phone and dialed.
Giovanni: Hello?
Brooke: Hey, it's your boss. Are you busy?
Giovanni: Not really. I was just brainstorming. Why?
Brooke: Are you doing anything for dinner? I know this is short notice, but-
He laughed softly.
Giovanni: Are you taking me up on my offer?
Brooke: Yeah, I guess I am.
Giovanni: Seven sounds good. Where do you want to go?
Brooke: Burgers sound good.

Jasmine's Apartment Six-Thirty
Jasmine sat at her dining room table, leafing through a magazine. She sighed as she thought about the past twenty-four hours. After visiting Ridge in jail, she had gone home and called Clarke. She knew he was a bit shady, but in his own way, he was very loyal to her mother. Plus he of all people would understand her plan of Operation Legitimize Spectra.
There was knocking on the door. She got up and went to open it, only to see Clarke, grinning and holding takeout.
She smiled.
Jasmine: Hi, Bucky.
Clarke: Hey, gorgeous. Mind if I come in?
Jasmine: No, of course not.
They walked over to the dining room table and Clarke put the food down.
Clarke: Well, how's the wedding planning going?
Jasmine: Fine.
She sighed and sat down.
Jasmine: God, what I am going through to get those designs, Clarke.
Clarke: Have you talked to Ridge?
Jasmine: No, but his witch of a mother went to Mom's.
Clarke: My guess is she wants to tell you to back off.
The Forrester Mansion Same Time
Stephanie sat in the study, nursing a drink. After leaving Sally's, she was pissed off and her bad mood had lasted through the night. When Sally had informed her that Jasmine didn't love Ridge, the thought that any woman would not love her son was unbelievable to her.
So why is she hell-bent on marrying him?
She had asked Sally this question, and the other woman had just shrugged.
The thought of Ridge being married into that family made her blood run cold, but the thought of more bad press was even worse.

Giovanna, your recent installments are excellent! It's mighty strange that Stephanie seemed to have no problem with Macy being married to Thorne, but, of course, he's not Ridge. I'm a little confused that Ridge could be compelled to marry Jasmine, whom I have trouble feeling much sympathy for. After all, she was shagging a man she knew was engaged to someone else. I hate that she basically prostituted herself to make her mother's company legitimate. But, I can't wait to see how this plan works out. I don't know whether to feel sorry for Bridget in your story or not. She seems to have gotten it together and is now going to be collateral damage thanks to Ridge and his foolishness. Any guy who has a legitimate interest in Bridget will probably back off now because of the taint. BTW--I howled when I read the headline! LOL! I love Giovanni and Brooke's chemistry! BTW--who do you envision "casting" as Giovanni?

About Jasmine, I enjoy her as a character, as she is a bit like Sally, and she is definitely a schemer. I don't condone what she is doing, but at least she isn't enamored of Ridge, in fact, she is manipulating him. As far as Ridge having to marry her, I am working on that. However, at the moment, he really has nowhere to go. Mass is MIA, Brooke is finally done with him, and no design house will go near him, due to the publicity. My take on Jasmine is she is a female Clarke.
I am glad that you are enjoying Giovanni and Brooke's chemistry. I know Nick is going to be a hard character to beat as far as the way he treated Brooke, but IMO, Giovanni deserves a chance.
BTW, if I were to rewrite Nick's paternity, who could YOU envision as his father?

BTW, if I were to rewrite Nick's paternity, who could YOU envision as his father?I agree that Jasmine has a great advantage because she's not enamored with Ridge. Poor Stephanie! She honestly believes that everyone SHOULD be in love with her little "boo" and when they're not, she can't begin to understand why. I can't wait to see what happens with this Forrester/Spectra union and I have no doubt it will be hilarious watching Ridge trying to squirm his way out of it. Perhaps his mother made things worse by going over to Sally's and calling her daughter a social-climber. Nice going, Steph! I like Nick also but totally agree that Giovanni deserves a chance, and Nick deserves a chance to be free to test the waters for a while. As for Nick's paternity, I'm at a loss. I'm having that debate with myself right now as to whether or not to leave him as Captain Payne or follow Bradley's lead. I know the show repeatedly mentioned Jackie's husband, Frank Payne, and Nick has talked to Brooke about him. Yet, I don't recall a physical description being given of him.

Jasmine's Apartment Same Time
Jasmine: Yeah, well, that foul-mouthed water buffalo doesn't scare me. She's lucky her son has me. How many fifty-year-old men have a gorgeous young thing waiting in the wings?
Clarke laughed.
Clarke: Boy, you have a big ego today.
Jasmine: Yeah. But I am wondering if the threat of bad press is enough to get him down the aisle.
Clarke: I think it might take more than that. When you two did it, did he imply or state that you sleeping with him was a condition of getting the job?
Jasmine frowned.
Jasmine: Well, he did suggest that we do it to see if I had what it takes. He also mentioned that he could tell if I photographed well by the flush in my cheeks after sex.
Clarke coughed. Jasmine narrowed her eyes.
Jasmine: What are you thinking? That I should threaten to sue him for sexual harassment?
Clarke: Now there's an idea.
Jasmine: And if he married me, I'll bet spousal privilege would apply.
Clarke laughed.
Clarke: But you need a high-profile lawyer, one that will play this out in the press. Think of all the models who would love to get their names in the paper by being part of a very public lawsuit. If Ridge slept with one model, he slept with others.
Jasmine laughed.
Clarke: Even if he won this case, the publicity alone would kill him.
Brooke's House Six Forty-Five
Brooke exhaled as she looked at her watch, then wondered if what she was wearing was ok. She was wearing jeans, a green sweater, and riding boots, as she had mentioned burgers.
Maybe I should change again, she thought.
Why? It's just burgers, you aren't going to some banquet.
There was knocking on the door, and she got up to answer it. She opened it and stepped aside.
Brooke: Hello.
Giovanni: Hello, Boss Lady.
She laughed.
Brooke: You don't have to call me that.
He shrugged and entered. She took in his attire, which was jeans and a purple shirt. She also noticed that he wasn't wearing his glasses.
Giovanni: Very well. By the way, you look great.
Brooke: So do you. Contacts?
Giovanni: I'm sorry?
Brooke: You're not wearing your glasses.
He laughed.
Giovanni: I don't need them, I have twenty-twenty vision. The glasses just make me look serious.
She shivered and decided that he was one of the better looking men she had ever seen.
Brooke: My car or yours?
Giovanni: Mine.

Starbucks Seven O'Clock
Donna sat at her favorite booth and checked her watch. Damn, Connor had said seven, where WAS he? Her cell phone rang and she answered it.
Donna: Hello?
Connor: Hi, it's me. I am running a bit late, but I will be there in ten.
Donna: Ok, see you then.
Connor: I'm looking forward to it.
Donna: Ok, bye.
She smiled as she hung up. She was having a date for the first time in a year. Then her face darkened as she notice Ridge enter.
Great, she thought. He saw her and walked over.
Ridge: Hello, Donna.
Donna: What do YOU want?
Ridge: Nice greeting.
Donna: Very true. Let me try again, what the hell do you want?
He exhaled.
Ridge: Boy, someone's in a bad mood. Don't they teach you manners in the valley?
Jackass, she thought.
Donna: I really don't have to be nice to you. The only reason I was civil before was because you were engaged to my sister.
Ridge: I am still her fiancee.
Donna laughed.
Donna: Boy, you sure are dumb. One would think that if one's intended fires them and has them arrested, the wedding being off would be a given.
Ridge: She takes me back. She always has.
Donna: Sure. But then again, she never fired you and asked you to sell her your shares.
Ridge: Where is she, Donna?
Donna: Home, I'm guessing. I'm assuming she had the locks changed. After all, LA is a dangerous place, what with former husbands coming and going at will.
He glared at her.
Donna: Beat it, Ridge. You can glare at me until hell freezes over, and it doesn't scare me.
Ridge: Your sister hasn't returned the ring.
Donna: Let me guess, you are planning on giving it to Jasmine. That is just like you, giving one woman's ring to another.
Connor entered and walked over to the table.
Connor: Hey, sorry I'm late.
He nodded.
Connor: Ridge.
Ridge drew himself up.

FudRuckers Same Time
Giovanni pulled up in his black rolls. He got out and walked around to the other side and opened the door. As a blindfolded Brooke got out, he took her hand. She giggled.
Brooke: Ok, are you going to tell me where we are?
Giovanni: Of course.
He removed the band.
Brooke: Well, I haven't been here for a while.
Giovanni: Well, you said burgers.
They entered, with him holding the door for her.
Ten Minutes Later, At A Booth
He put a napkin in his lap and looked at her.
Giovanni: So.
Brooke: Do you blindfold all your dates?
Giovanni: I don't date that often.
Brooke: Let me guess, work.
Giovanni: You could say that. Plus I haven't been here long enough to start.
She laughed.
Brooke: You lived in New York, right?
Giovanni: Yep.
Brooke: Why move now?
He shrugged.
Giovanni: Your job offer was too good to pass up. Plus I needed a change. Other than my work, what do you know about me?
Brooke: Where you were born, where you studied, that sort of thing. I did hear that you were reclusive.
He laughed.
Giovanni: I don't know about that. I just focus on work and let my PR rep handle anything else. You seem to be pretty high-profile.
Brooke: Let's just say my impulsive streak made for good copy.
Giovanni: Not to mention your loyal streak.
Brooke: I don't know about that.
Giovanni: I do. I don't know of very many women who would work for a former husband and make them wealthy.
Brooke: I hadn't looked at it from that angle.
Giovanni: I know a bit about you.
Brooke: Really.
Giovanni: I am curious about how a chemist wound up making a clothing company with an elite clientele into a force to be reckoned with.
She watched him curiously. What he was saying was true, even if she hadn't viewed herself in that light for a while.
Brooke: You may be talking me up a bit.
Giovanni: I don't think so. I've seen the financial reports of the company before you took over, and the reports after you took over. They lucked out with you.
Brooke: Really. How do-
Giovanni: I made it my business to know how to read financial reports before I applied for a job. That way I know if I'm backing the right business.

Spago Same Time
Amber sat at a booth and ordered her usual. She thought about the flowers she had gotten earlier at work.
It had been a long day, and the delivery had come just as she was selecting the pieces she was going to have featured in Elle. She had opened the door and saw the most beautiful arrangement of hot pink tulips in a vase. She squinted, picked them up, and read the card.
"A little bird told me you were nobody's debutante. He also told me that you were partial to pink tulips. Meet me at Spago, seven o'clock.
Mr. Green"

Brooke's House Ten O'Clock P.M.
Brooke brushed her hair as she got ready for bed. It had been a long day, and she was tired. She made a mental note to call Bridgette to let her know Deacon was in town. Then she thought about her evening. Giovanni certainly was intriguing, she thought. His knowledge of finance impressed her, as for years, the designers she worked with focused on the creative side. Plus he treated her like her opinions about business mattered, which she hadn't gotten for a long time. She frowned as she remembered the only times Ridge gave her credit were when he wanted marriage; meanwhile, his mother went out of her way to belittle her.
Her mind flashed back..
Giovanni: So you haven't answered my question. How does a chemist become a successful CEO?
Brooke: Well, it's like this.
She told him about belief and how they had tried to trick her, and how she wound up with fifty-one percent of the company. She hadn't wanted to be a CEO, but at the time, she didn't trust Eric or Ridge to support their children. Damn, revisiting that period was painful, and she was surprised when she started crying. Giovanni watched her and handed her a napkin.
Giovanni: Interesting.
Brooke: Damn, I haven't talked about that period for years.
Giovanni: Any reason why?
She shrugged.
Brooke: I don't know. I guess I wanted their approval. When I was engaged to-Ridge, I guess I fooled myself into thinking that I had it.
Giovanni: Why did you want their approval?
Brooke: They were wealthy, my family is from the valley.
Giovanni: I see. Girlhood dreams are hard to give up.
Brooke: I guess.
Giovanni: Ridge's mother, Stephanie.
Brooke: What about her?
Giovanni: What's her job title?
Brooke: I don't think she has one. Her father provided the start-up money, and she has ten percent of the company.
Giovanni: Hasn't that start-up been paid back?
Brooke: I imagine so. Why?
Giovanni: Just wondering why she is still there.
Thinking back, she realized that these vultures had screwed her over way too many times to count.
Well, those days were over. She decided to call Connor about buying Stephanie out.

Forrester Creations The Next Day, Nine A.M. Giovanni's Office
Giovanni nursed a cup of coffee as he looked over his sketches. He rubbed his head as he thought of the night before.
After dinner, he had driven Brooke home. She hadn't invited him in, and he was relieved, as he got the impression she was still a little gun-shy. He heard a noise and looked up, only to see Ridge in the doorway.
Damn, I thought she had fired him, he thought.
Ridge: Well, well.
Giovanni sighed and stood up.
Giovanni: Mr. Forrester. What are you doing here?
Ridge sauntered in.
Ridge: Just getting a look at my replacement. You know, I wouldn't get too comfortable here, Junior.
Giovanni: Is that so?
Ridge: Brooke is angry at me. Ok, fine, I've been a bad boy, I get it. She's punishing me, and my guess is, I'll be back here in a week.
Giovanni reached for the phone.
Giovanni: I'm calling security.
Ridge: Yeah, well, who do you think let me up?
Brooke walked in, with a pad, then stopped.
Brooke: Ridge. What are you doing here?
Ridge: Just letting Junior know how things are run around here.
She sighed, and stuck her head outside the office.
Brooke: Megan, call security.
Ridge sighed.
Ridge: Very well, I'll leave. Just remember what I said.
He walked off.
Brooke exhaled. She was looking forward to going over the new collection, and now Ridge had put a damper on her day. Giovanni looked at her.
Giovanni: Well.
Brooke: I'm sorry about that. I'll call his lawyer. And I'll definitely talk to security.
Giovanni: Brooke? Is there something you're not telling me?
Brooke: No, of course not.
Giovanni: If there is-
He stopped, worried that he was sounding like a jealous boyfriend. After all, they had only had one dinner.
Brooke: If you're asking if your job is secure, you don't have anything to worry about.
He walked to the door and closed it.
Giovanni: I-no, that's not it.
Damn, why had he said that? He was tipping his hand. Even though he could tell by Brooke's body language that she didn't have feelings for Ridge, he couldn't help but feel a little jealous.
She looked at him. Damn, he looked tense. Maybe they should keep their relationship on the professional level.

Giovanni's Office Same Time
Giovanni: I just don't want him hurting you again.
Brooke: He won't.
The Forrester Mansion Ten Minutes Later
Ridge slammed the front door. Damn, Logan was being difficult. Not only had she hired a rookie, but she kept tossing him, Ridge, out.
Brooke's Office Same Time
Brooke sat at her desk, on the phone. She was pissed off at the way Ridge had just shown up. Plus she liked Giovanni, and she was damned if she was going to let Ridge bully him the way he bullied everyone else.
Voice: Hello.
Brooke: Hello, may I speak to Jonathon Young, please?
There was a five minute pause before he came on the line.
Jon: Hello.
Brooke: Hello, Jon, it's Brooke Logan.
Jon: Yes, Brooke, what can I do for you?
Brooke: You can enlighten me on why you have yet to inform your client that there is an injunction barring him from Forrester Creations.
Jon: I did, twice.
Brooke: Well, you obviously didn't do it very loudly or very clearly, as he was just here.
Jon: I'll talk to him.
Brooke: You do that. I'm sure you know the directions to the county jail.
Jon: Excuse me?
Brooke: I called the police and reported him for trespassing. I am sure you can't babysit him twenty-four hours and short of him being kept on a leash, I don't know what else to do. Good-bye, counselor.
She hung up. There was a tap on her door.
Brooke: Come in.
The security guard came in.
Guard: Ms. Logan? My boss said you wanted to see me.
She gestured.
Brooke: Please sit down.
He did so, and she cleared her throat.
Brooke: I thought I instructed your supervisor as well as you that Ridge Forrester was not to enter this building.
Guard: You did. Only he told me that he had to talk to you. He said it was about the wedding.
Brooke sighed.
Brooke: Ridge no longer works here. And as the CEO, I have the final say in who comes through that door. Your job as security is too keep riffraff out, and you disobeyed my wishes.
She looked at him and noticed that he was nervous. He couldn't have been more than twenty-five.
Guard: Are you firing me?
Her face softened.
Brooke: No. However, if another incident like this happens again, I will. Are you aware that Ridge is the reason your co-worker is in the hospital?

The D.A.'s Office for the City of LA The Next Day, Nine A.M.
Nate Preston got off the elevator and headed for his office. He was a tall, bespectacled African American in his late thirties, and considered one of the best in the office. On his way, he smiled at the receptionist and collected his messages, then shut himself in his office. He had received a phone call from Jonathon Young, who had a client being charged with two counts of trespassing and one count of assault and battery, and Mr. Young wanted to talk plea. Nate shook his head as he looked over the two reports. He hated the way some of these wealthy people broke the law and threw money at his office, as if they were above doing time. However, he really didn't want to pursue this matter at the taxpayers expense.
His secretary buzzed him.
Nate: Yes, Gina?
Gina: Mr. Young and Mr. Forrester are here to see you.
Nate: Well, send them in.
Mr. Young entered. He was well into his fifties and a typical WASP lawyer in private practice. His client was also in his fifties and had obviously been under the knife. Plus he also looked as if he subscribed to the theory, "One can't be too thin."
Nate nodded.
Nate: Gentlemen.
Jon: Mr. Preston.
Nate gestured.
Nate: Please have a seat.
Both men did so.
Nate: So, what can I do for you?
Jon: My client is prepared to plead to two counts of trespassing in return for no jail time.
Nate blinked, then looked at the reports in front of him.
Nate: I see. Let me get this straight, your client knowingly ignores an injunction barring him from his former place of employment and then assaults someone, and he thinks he should go home with a slap on the wrist?
Jon squirmed. Damn, this wasn't going to be easy.
Jon: Mr. Forrester never intended to attack the guard.
Nate: Yet after being arrested for assault, he goes back to the scene of the crime less than a week later. Mr. Forrester, what were you thinking?
Ridge scowled.
Nate: Well, I'm waiting for an answer.
Ridge: I'm sorry.
Nate: My complaining witness says that you shoved him against the wall and insulted him. Then when he reached for his gun to defend himself, you grabbed it and shot him.
Ridge: I grabbed it and it went off. That guard is lying.
Nate: His name is David Milligan.
Ridge: If he hadn't grabbed the gun, I wouldn't have shot him.
Nate: And you went back to the scene of the crime and lurked there, in spite of there being a legal form barring you from the building?
Ridge: I wasn't lurking. I just went to see who my replacement was and to get him to quit.
Nate: Your client isn't very smart, is he, counselor?
Ridge glared at him. He didn't like the man's tone.
Jon: Look, Nate, does your office really want to pursue this?
Nate: I can't accept two counts of trespassing. His victim wound up in the hospital. He has to cop to assault.
Jon: Ok.
Nate: Two counts of trespassing in the first degree, and one count of assault. And it goes on his record. He gets probation, but no jail time.
Jon: Works for me.
Nate: Ok, I'll draw the papers up. Oh, I have one question for your client. Are you even going to ask how Mr. Milligan is doing? You know, the man who is lying in a hospital bed because of your irresponsible behavior?
Ridge: No. He got in my way.
Asshole, Nate thought.
Nate: Ok, I believe our business is done here. By the way, Mr. Forrester, the next time you commit a couple of crimes of such stupidity, I will not only prosecute you, but I will make sure that when you go to jail, the key is lost for a year.

So Ridge is about the same age as Jonathan?! LOL!! This fool simply doesn't learn, does he? It's bad enough he doesn't even attempt to pretend to care about his victim, but he openly admits that he violated an order just to get his replacement to quit. What an ass! Okay, you know I have to ask: who are you "casting" as Nate, as well as Giovanni? I continue to enjoy Brooke and Giovanni's chemistry and I'm glad that they're taking things slow. Hopefully, Giovanni won't be too worried about Ridge. And I'm glad he finally asked the question a lot of us have asked over the years: Why hasn't it occurred to Brooke to buy Stephanie out?

Giovanni I'm not sure about. I was thinking of Courtney P. Vance as Nate.
And yes, the fool does not learn.
Ridge certainly is getting it from all sides, isn't he? I feel mean, but a lot of, not all, of his little dramas were brought on by his stupidity.
As for Brooke buying Hag out, methinks the witch would not go quietly. After all, why sell her shares when having them means she has an excuse for messing with Brooke?

The Forrester Mansion Nine-Thirty A.M.
Ridge stormed into the mansion and stalked to the living room. He had had a rotten morning, and it looked like things were not going to get better. After leaving the D.A.'s office, he and Jon had had to use the back-way, as reporters were dogging them. Then he had to deal with the fact that he had a felony conviction just because that punk Giorgio had whined to Brooke. He had thought that all he would have to do would be pay that jerk D.A. off, and it would be business as usual. But the man was an obvious player hater and had called him stupid. And he had threatened to lock him up and lose the key.
As much as Ridge liked the women falling at his feet, his desirability was a double-edged sword, as there were some jealous men out there.
He picked up his phone and dialed.
Voice: Forrester Creations.
Ridge: Yeah, I need to speak to Brooke Logan, please.
Voice: Shall I say who is calling?
Ridge: Yeah, her fiancee.
Voice: Ok.
There was a pause before Brooke came on.
Brooke: Hello.
Ridge: Hey, Logan, it's me. I figured I'd call and ask about the wedding.
She exhaled.
Brooke: The wedding is off.
Ridge: Come on, Logan.
Brooke: Ms. Logan to you. We're through.
Ridge: Any reason why?
Brooke: You're serious?
Ridge: Yeah, I am. This is what you've always wanted.
Brooke: I can't trust you. You've been lying to me for over four years. And it just occurred to me that I don't love you. It's over, Ridge. Don't call me again.
She hung up.
Dammit.
The phone rang, and he let the machine pick it up.
Voice: Hello, Ridge, it's Jasmine. We need to talk about the wedding.
He sighed and picked it up.
Ridge: What do you want?
Jasmine: We need to talk about the wedding.
Ridge: There isn't going to be any wedding.
Jasmine: Oh, yes, there is. After all, you told me that if it weren't for Brooke, who knows.
Yeah, to get you into bed, you bimbo.
Jasmine: It was, "Oh, Jasmine, if only I had met you before I proposed to Brooke, we might have a shot." Or, "Oh, Baby, that was the best, you could actually give Brooke a few pointers."
What a bitch.
Jasmine: Besides, you told me that, as long as you and I were sleeping together, I would have a job. I'm no lawyer, but that sounds like sex as a condition to employment, or, in other terms, sexual harassment, which is against the law.
Ridge: What are you getting at, Jasmine?
Jasmine: Well, my mother wants to get back in the game. Only she has this rep of swiping from the competition. Now, if the competition were married to her daughter and thus designing for his in-laws, that takes the tint of stealing from the competition away. It adds a touch of, how do I say this, class to the company.
What a grasping bit of goods. No way would Logan do him like this.
Ridge: I can't design for Spectra.
Jasmine: Why the hell not? If my father and mother give you a job as a dowry, you owe them. Besides, job hunting is a bitch, what with the economy being what it is these days.
Ridge: I am a Forrester.
Jasmine: In name only. I talked to my mother.
Ridge: I will never stab Forrester in the back.
Jasmine: That's a load of bull. You had no problem working for my mother when Brooke demoted you, oh, when was it, seven years ago and Eric refused to back you. What's one more betrayal?
Ridge: I'm not marrying you.
Jasmine: Oh, I get it. Spectra is good enough to work for, but God forbid it get out that you actually screwed one. Besides, you're changing the subject. I've talked to a lawyer, who thinks I have a case. She is drawing up a list of models as we speak, so that we have witnesses who can testify that your screwing on the company dime was company policy. And don't think I won't give out interviews in the press, as the reporters seem to be quite interested in you these days.
Ridge started shaking. My God, this woman had a bigger pair than her mother, and that was saying something.
Ridge: What do you want?
Jasmine: You agree to marry me and work for my mother, and I give up all thoughts of a lawsuit. I'm offering you a job and a bride on a platter, you should kiss my ass.

Brooke's Office Ten-Thirty A.M.
Brooke rubbed her temples. She had just spoken to her mother, and she was going to pick up Hope and RJ on Friday, which was two days away. And she had to break the news to RJ, which would take all weekend.
Damn Ridge and his mother.
She had called Nick and asked if he could meet her later, as he was anxious to meet with his son. Then her thoughts wandered to the issue of Stephanie's shares. Giovanni had raised a good point, the start-up capital had been paid back tenfold, so there was no reason for Stephanie to be there. It just occurred to her that Ridge's mother had belittled her to pretty much everyone in the company, and it was getting old. In fact, it had been old for a while.
So why let her pull her crap?
She had to admit a big part of it was the fact that she was engaged to Ridge, and pissing his mother off was never a good idea. Besides, she felt like the outsider, whereas Stephanie was a Forrester, and as such, she had more rights to the company than she did. She decided to meet with Connor on Monday to discuss buying Stephanie out.
There was a knocking on her door.
Brooke: Come in.
Giovanni entered. She smiled.
Brooke: Hello.
Giovanni: Morning, Brooke. Or should I call you boss?
She gestured for him to sit, and he did so.
Brooke: Just call me Brooke.
Giovanni: I-can we talk about the other night?
She shrugged.
Brooke: Sure.
Giovanni: I'm not normally in the habit of asking my boss out.
Brooke: Ok.
Giovanni: I know you were engaged-
She waved her hand.
Brooke: The engagement is off. As I recall, you were the one with a date.
Giovanni: She was just someone my contact fixed me up with.
Brooke: Ok, so when we went out, I wasn't-you know-
Giovanni: No, I'm not seeing anyone. I wouldn't have asked you to dinner.
Brooke: Well, I'm glad you asked me out. I had a good time.
Giovanni: Thanks, I think. I guess now is where you say you're not ready.
Brooke: I wasn't going to say that. I was going to say that I need a friend, and-I enjoy spending time with you.
He laughed softly.
Giovanni: So. Do you want to go out again?
Brooke: Sure. I-this weekend is out. I have to pick up my two children from my mother's.
Giovanni: You have two, right?
Brooke: Well, I have two adult children, and the three younger ones.
Giovanni: I-the youngest. Wasn't there some mix-up in the lab?
Brooke: Yes. He's staying with his father.
Giovanni: The one-RJ.
Brooke: What about him?
Giovanni: Was he the one-you know-Ridge lied about?
She exhaled.
Giovanni: I didn't mean to pry.
Brooke: You didn't. Yes, he's the one.
Giovanni: How is he?
Brooke: Fine. I have to break the news to him this weekend.
She picked up a pen.
Brooke: So. Do you have any children?
Giovanni: Me? No. As far as marriage, I did that once, when I was younger.

Forrester Creations, Giovanni's Office Eleven O'Clock
Giovanni stood over his desk, leafing through the fabric samples. He pushed his glasses up just as he heard knocking. Stephanie entered.
Stephanie: Well, well.
Giovanni frowned. What was she doing here?
Giovanni: May I help you?
Stephanie sighed and sat down.
Stephanie: I just came to see the replacement that tramp hired. You know, the man who stole my son's job.
She narrowed her eyes.
Stephanie: How can you sleep, knowing that you took a man's job?
Giovanni shrugged.
Giovanni: I have no trouble sleeping, period. As for stealing your son's job, I believe that was Ms. Logan's call to make. Speaking of Ms. Logan, she is making a lot of money for this company, so you may want to refrain from badmouthing her.
Stephanie: She slept with my husband and both my sons.
Giovanni: Ms. Logan's private affairs do not concern me. Correct me if I am wrong, but she is not involved with anyone at the moment, let alone any member of your family. So I really fail to see what your beef is with her.
Stephanie: I know you are sleeping with her.
Giovanni: Well, that's news to me.
Stephanie: How much is that tramp-paying you?
Giovanni: I don't see how that concerns you.
Stephanie: I am prepared to pay you quite a bit if you resign.
Giovanni: No, thank you. I like my job.
Stephanie: If you resign, then she will have no choice but to hire Ridge back.
Giovanni: Interesting.
Stephanie: What?
Giovanni: Your son told you that she fired him?
Stephanie: Yes.
Giovanni: The last time I discussed being let go from a job with my mother, I was nineteen or twenty.
Stephanie: What are you implying?
Giovanni: Nothing, just thinking out loud. While I am thinking out loud, I also remember hearing from reliable sources that your son bribed a doctor to fix the paternity test of a little boy. I am assuming that your son discussed that with you as well. Tell me, Mrs. Forrester, how do you sleep at night, knowing that you kept a man from his son?
She bristled. Nervy little opportunist.
Giovanni: Well? Don't you have an answer?
Stephanie: I'm not going to apologize for wanting to protect my company.
Giovanni: Your company would only be known to ten percent of the population if it weren't for Brooke. So I would appreciate it if you left my office and let me do my job.
Stephanie stood up.
Stephanie: Very well, I will leave. But just a reminder, Brooke always takes my son back. So if you are sleeping with her, you are merely a substitute.
Giovanni walked to the door.
Giovanni: Out.

Ridge and his stank mother have a lot of nerve, don't they? I love how they trash Brooke behind her back and in public and then act like stuck pigs when she turns the tables on them. Like, how pathetic do you have to be to brag that someone always takes you back? The same someone that you didn't consider good enough for you in the first place? And now you're offended because the person dared to reject you.
I'm glad that Giovanni came back with the same question I had been asking: how DOES the she-beast sleep at night? But I guess when one has no conscience, one can sleep quite well.
It also slays me how Ridge slinks around and gets an attitude when someone calls him on his nonsense. I can't wait to see if he'll cave into Jasmine's blackmail or be a real man--for once--and call her bluff. Any other guy would have laughed in Jasmine's face by now, but Ridge has so much dirt on his hands he'll act predictably.

And yes, Ridge and his mother are quite predictable in their way of thinking, that Brooke will take the jerk back. However, Brooke has been frighteningly naive in dealing with them and has this habit of looking for excuses to let them back into her life. That's why they are so fun to write for, as I usually have someone willing to call them on their nonsense.
Don't you love how Ridge refers to Giovanni as Junior? I guess he resents the fact that Giovanni is younger than he is.
As for Ridge calling Jasmine's bluff like a real man, I seriously doubt it. After all, a real man would have set Brooke straight instead of stringing her along for years. Besides, the thought of more bad press and a lawsuit scares him, as he is too much of a coward to face the music. He probably had his mother deal with something so mundane as a traffic ticket, the idea of a public lawsuit would be too much for him.
