“Mrs. Forrester, can you hear me?” A worried Dr. Sussman asked Stephanie. In response, he received a blank stare and then some mumbling. Dr. Sussman then shone a small penlight into Stephanie’s eyes to determine her level of responsiveness. He was relieved when she rapidly blinked. As he continued to check Stephanie’s vitals, he questioned the duty nurse. “What in the world happened here?” “It was those two women,” the nurse curtly replied. “Her daughter and her daughter-in-law; everything was fine at first, and then it was like Mrs. Forrester went into a trance or something. The next thing I knew, she got really scared and started talking off the top of her head. Her daughter and daughter-in-law started barking questions at her like they were police officers or something. It was disgraceful!” Dr. Sussman grimly checked Stephanie’s blood pressure as he absorbed what the nurse told him. “Was the patient able to coherently respond to their questions?” “No sir,” the nurse stated. “In fact, the more out of it she became, the more those other two carried on—fighting over the poor thing as if she wasn’t even here. I ended up asking them to leave, but the dark-haired one—the daughter-in-law—caught an attitude and got on her high horse about how she was a doctor. Like, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? She had to practically be forced out of here by Mrs. Forrester’s daughter.” “I see,” the doctor said grimly as he removed the blood pressure monitor’s cuff from around Stephanie’s arm. “Well, that will stop,” he snapped. As he made notations on Stephanie’s chart, he continued to comment. “This is most unfortunate. Mrs. Forrester is scheduled for an MRI today and all this drama doesn’t help. Now, I’m not even sure if she will be emotionally prepared for it. She’s obviously traumatized, and the last thing I need is to have her suffer even more trauma because of the tests!” The nurse nodded in agreement. “Will you be able to give her some valium or a sedative to relax her before the MRI?” “I would prefer not to, but I’ll confer with Dr. Rivera first as I may not have much of a choice.” Dr. Sussman replied. His eyes then wandered to the table at Stephanie’s bedside and he frowned in displeasure. “What are these doing here?” He demanded. “Oh—the roses! Well, Nurse Jenkins said she spoke to Mrs. Forrester’s daughter about them, and she asked if her mother could enjoy them a little longer since her father bought them. Nurse Jenkins indicated that young Ms. Forrester promised to take the flowers home.” “I want these flowers out of here—today,” Dr. Sussman ordered. “If you could remind the Forresters about our rules, I would appreciate it. Once Mrs. Forrester is moved to a private room, she can have all the flowers she wants.” “Consider it done, doctor,” the nurse said. Dr. Sussman then turned his attention back to his patient, who had become slightly agitated and began to murmur unintelligibly. “Where’s Dr. Rivera?” She croaked. “Don’t worry, Mrs. Forrester,” Dr. Sussman gently said. “Dr. Rivera will be here for you shortly. If you don’t mind, I’m going to step outside for a few minutes to speak with your family.” Stephanie’s eyes widened in horror and she shook her head. “NO!” She yelled as she quickly grabbed Dr. Sussman’s hand. “Please—please don’t go!” She pitifully implored him. Dr. Sussman was momentarily stunned. “Mrs. Forrester, what’s wrong?” He asked with concern. “Don’t leave me!” She begged. “She’s coming to get me! She’s going to kill me!” _______________

Great job! I am literally waiting to see what happens next. Will Hag finger Brooke, or will she finger Elke?

Ladies, it's difficult to say who the hag will finger. Will she make an honest mistake, or will self-preservation (her affair) trump doing the right thing?

“Well, ladies?” Eric asked with a raised eyebrow. “What happened to my wife while you were in her room? And, this had better be good!” “Eric, something extraordinary happened!” Taylor started. “Stephanie identified her attacker,” Taylor asserted in a voice that left little room for any doubt. “What?” A shocked Eric gasped. “What do you mean— who?!” “Dad—there is something else you should know,” Kristen quickly cautioned, casting menacing looks at Taylor. “Mother was quite upset and seemed to be in and out of consciousness. You might recall that you and Dr. Rivera talked about those symptoms. She was quite agitated and incoherent. But—” Taylor rolled her eyes in exasperation. “Oh, will you please stop protecting that—that evil slut!” She hissed. “Taylor … what in the hell is going on?” Eric demanded. “Who in the world are you talking about?” “Do you know any other evil sluts?” Taylor snapped. “I’m talking about the same woman you accused of trying to murder Stephanie— Brooke!” … Sally peered through the peephole, and her mouth formed into a round “O” of surprise. She couldn’t believe it! She quickly flung the door open and placed her hands on her broad hips. “What are you doing here?” She asked in outrage. “I’m actually here to see my wife, or do you mind?” Thorne retorted. “It’s about time you stopped sniffing up Brooke’s bum long enough to remember that you even have a wife!” Sally nastily spat. An irate Adam came up behind Sally and glowered at Thorne. “You have lot of nerve showing up here after what you did to my little girl—a lot of nerve!” He snarled. By now, Thorne was fed up. While he could understand Macy’s parents being upset, he was tired of being their whipping boy. Unable to stop himself, he unloaded on Sally and Adam. “Are you kidding me? What I did to your little girl? What I did?” He laughed humorously. “Your little girl can be a nasty piece of work! She was so determined to get rid of Brooke that she actually manipulated my mother into going after Brooke. Well, we all see how that worked out, don’t we?” Thorne sneered. “You get the hell out of here!” Adam yelled as he charged toward Thorne. “Why? Does the truth hurt?” Thorne sarcastically asked. “Adam—not now!” Sally warned, as she quickly restrained Adam. “He’s simply not worth it!” “Get him out of here!” Adam growled. “Just why are you here anyway?” Sally angrily demanded. “I already told you that I’m here to see Macy; or are you deaf?” Thorne sarcastically asked. “She’s busy,” Sally claimed, still making no move to let Thorne in. “Busy doing what?” Thorne asked. “Drying out perhaps?” “Why you—you—” Sally sputtered. “Cut the crap!” Thorne impatiently snapped. “She left enough dirty glasses in the sink to let me know she’s had another relapse. Now, you may not want me here, but Macy will see me; so I’m not going anywhere,” Thorne stubbornly said. “The hell she will!” Adam hotly disputed. “Macy is getting ready for an appointment with a criminal defense lawyer this afternoon because of this mess with your mother. After that, it’s off to a divorce lawyer!” “Well, if Macy wants a divorce, I’ll be happy to give her one—” Thorne glibly began. “—I just bet you would!” Sally sneered. “But, I need to hear from her directly that she no longer wants our marriage,” Thorne calmly concluded. Unbeknownst to everyone, Macy had entered the living room after hearing all the commotion from the kitchen. So, Thorne would be happy to divorce her, eh? She asked herself. Well, she would see about that!“Let him in,” Macy calmly said, fortified by her liquid breakfast. Sally and Adam quickly turned in the direction of Macy’s voice. “Macy, honey, are you sure?” A worried Sally asked. “Yes; I’m sure,” Macy nodded with a serene smile. “Thorne and I have a lot to discuss.” … Detective Blair looked askance at her partner, who was still taking notes. She caught his eye and quickly nodded before addressing Ridge. “Hmmm … that’s quite a story,” Detective Blair observed. “So you overheard an exchange between your wife and your mother and concluded that they were speaking in code to cover up this big conspiracy.” Ridge was surprised by the detectives’ nonchalant attitude. What was wrong with them? He wondered. No wonder the LAPD had such a sh*tty reputation! He had practically handed them a chance to quickly solve this crime, and this was their response?“I never said anything about a conspiracy!” Ridge said, suddenly feeling foolish. “I just—you had to have been there to understand why it raised all kinds of red flags for me.” After some quiet deliberation, Detective Moretti finally looked up from his notes and frowned. “Mr. Forrester, when your mother exhorted your wife—and I quote—‘just don’t let that tramp win’—who do you think she was talking about?” Ridge sighed deeply before replying with a knitted brow. “Brooke,” he said simply. “I see. And, what exactly was it that Ms. Logan was not supposed to win?” Detective Moretti quietly asked. “Uh—me.” Ridge replied. He was now quite uncomfortable and briefly wished the ground would open and swallow him up. Detective Blair regarded Ridge with amusement. “ You?” She asked with a smile. “So, am I to surmise then that your wife and mother consider you a prize to be won?” A deeply embarrassed Ridge turned as red as a beet. How could he possibly make them or anyone else outside his circle understand? “Look, I know this all sounds rather strange, but that’s the way it’s always been with—with us.” “ Us?” Detective Moretti asked. “My mother, my wife and me—oh, and Brooke.” “I see,” Detective Moretti said. “And, when your mother said, and I quote—‘She’s going to pay for this!’—again, who do you think she was talking about?” Ridge nervously fidgeted and did not immediately respond. He looked up, down, all around, and anywhere, but directly at the detectives. When he finally found his voice, he was at a loss as to how to respond. “Well, I—uh—I—” “Do you need me to repeat the question?” Detective Moretti asked. “Or, maybe you need some water?” Detective Blair offered. “I’m not sure I understood the question,” Ridge weakly said. “Again, Mr. Forrester,” Detective Moretti, said, “ Who do you think your mother was talking about in that instance?” “I don’t know,” Ridge responded nervously as his eyes darted about. “I see. Well, let’s try it this way then. Do you have any reason to believe that the she your mother was referring to was, in fact, Ms. Logan?” Detective Moretti asked, getting straight to the point. “No!” Ridge quickly replied. However, if he thought his answer would inspire confidence in his veracity and end the matter, he was mistaken as he immediately caught the skeptical look on the detectives’ faces. Too late, Ridge realized that he may have screwed up. Oh, no! An obviously distressed Ridge thought. This was turning into a disaster! Logan … oh, God … what in the hell have I done?_______________

Awesome reading!
So, Macy hit the sauce, eh? I am dying to hear what she says to Thorne. I'll bet she'll refuse to give him a divorce out of spite.
Taylor is working my last nerve. I can just see her, all ready to see Brooke arrested.
And it looks like Ridge put his foot in his mouth. Like Blair, I find it amusing that Hag and Taylor view him as some prize.

Unbeknownst to her parents, Macy has hit the vanilla extract. Maybe she can keep up the ruse long enough to get through her appointment. Macy can, indeed, be quite spiteful. Hopefully, she'll be the mature one and see how foolish it would be to keep holding on to this marriage. Taylor honestly believes what she heard from Stephanie's mouth. Although, she is admittedly biased, she can only go by what she heard as well as her own observations of Brooke's behavior. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail and this mess will get straigtened out before the wrong person is arrested. As for Ridge, there are times when you really wish he would just keep his stupid mouth shut. And you can't help but laugh at the notion that some people out there thinks he's a prize!

CHAPTER 21 – A LETTER TO THREE WIVESThey all wondered, but only one of them wandered …“Shhhhh! It’s alright, Mrs. Forrester. I’m not going anywhere,” Dr. Sussman reassured the panic-stricken Stephanie. “She’s going to hurt me!” Stephanie sobbed. “No one is going to hurt you, Mrs. Forrester,” Dr. Sussman replied in an attempt to calm Stephanie’s fears. “You don’t understand—” Dr. Sussman nodded sympathetically while the duty nurse fretted. That poor lady! She thought. She quickly grabbed Stephanie’s water pitcher and proceeded to pour her some water. Stephanie gratefully accepted the cup and began to sip. Dr. Sussman carefully observed Stephanie to determine if he should give her a sedative or postpone her MRI. “Mrs. Forrester?” “Yes,” Stephanie absently replied. “I can sit with you for a while,” Dr. Sussman offered. “I’ll make sure that no one hurts you, and we can arrange with your family to have 24-hour security placed outside your room.” Stephanie briefly stared at Dr. Sussman in confusion and blinked rapidly. “Security?” She asked. “Yes,” Dr. Sussman confirmed. “You were worried about someone—a woman—hurting you.” Stephanie was even more confused by now. “Woman? What woman?” … Eric was completely dumbfounded by Taylor’s outburst. His first thought was that it was totally uncharacteristic and he was unnerved by the venom in her voice. His next thought was that something was noticeably off about Taylor. This realization caused him to examine Taylor’s appearance closely. Eric’s profession ensured that he was surrounded by beautiful women on a near-daily basis. He would be dishonest if he did not admit that his daughter-in-law was one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. As a Forrester wife, Taylor had the financial resources—and the time—to always look polished and pulled together. And, yet … Eric noted the feral look and hair that hung limply. He noticed the caked on makeup— an obvious rush job, he thought. Even with the recent upheaval the family was facing, Eric did not feel this accounted for Taylor’s behavior or her strange appearance. Something else was going on with her, but what? He quickly looked at Kristen, who silently confirmed that she agreed with his observations. Eric cleared his throat before speaking. “Taylor … I can appreciate that you’re upset, but let’s try to put things in perspective here,” he carefully admonished. Taylor was thunderstruck by Eric’s rather lukewarm response. “Am I the only one who understands what happened here?!” She yelled in frustration, flailing her arms. “I fully understand what happened,” Eric gently replied. “However, calling the mother of my two youngest children an evil slut is uncalled for and counterproductive.” “Not to mention a low blow—even for you!” A thoroughly disgusted Kristen added. “How dare you?” A furious Taylor snarled at Kristen before turning her attention to Eric. “Please, Eric! You, yourself, said—believed that Brooke was responsible for this. Something must have happened to lead you to that conclusion. It was something so powerful that you wanted those detectives to arrest Brooke on the spot!” Shamefaced, Eric colored in embarrassment. “Taylor, you are right. Something did happen at the office that very morning that led me to believe that Brooke may have had something to do with this.” “What was it?” Kristen quietly asked. Eric hesitated before responding. “Brooke and your mother got into a pretty, um, violent argument at the conclusion of our emergency board meeting. Insults were exchanged; shoes were thrown; and threats were made.” “What kind of threats?” Taylor demanded. “Brooke did say that she could kill Stephanie,” Eric hoarsely admitted, much to Kristen’s horror. “AH HAH!” A triumphant Taylor practically crowed. “I just knew it! Is there any doubt, any doubt at all that Brooke did this?” However, Eric took the wind out of Taylor’s sails. “Honey, I’m sorry—I was mistaken. Since I talked to the police, I’ve had a chance to talk to Stephanie’s social worker. I’ve also had a chance to calm down and to reevaluate this situation. I just don’t believe Brooke did this. If you could have seen her at the office that night … how utterly selfless she was in her efforts to save Stephanie’s life and how strong she was for both of us… there’s simply no way she could have done it!” Eric insisted. Kristen gave her father’s hand a reassuring squeeze while Taylor could only stare at him in wide-eyed disbelief. Why he was actually praising Brooke as if she was some kind of heroine! A furious Taylor thought. And, why was he purposely going out of his way to ignore his first instincts?“Eric, I don’t want to get into an argument with you—not about this and especially not here,” Taylor said, trying another tact. “You’ve been through enough as it is. Now, I’ll be the first to admit that Brooke’s efforts were, um, heroic,” she said sourly as if it would kill her to admit it. “However, there is still the issue of her erratic behavior over recent months; her attacks against me and Macy; her physically attacking you in this very hospital and actually being proud of it—” “Taylor, I’m ashamed to admit that she was actually defending herself against me for putting my hands on her, and she was protecting Rick,” Eric sheepishly acknowledged. However, Taylor continued as if she did not hear a word he said. “Nevertheless,” she went on, “Brooke simply hasn’t been herself and as I told Ridge, it’s possible that she may have snapped under the strain.” Kristen gasped. “You really don’t believe that, do you?” “I didn’t want to believe it at first,” Taylor said carefully. “But … I know what I heard.” “And I know what I heard!” Kristen averred. “Dad, despite what Taylor is telling you, you’re only getting half the story. Mother alluded to her attacker being a woman—a blonde woman. She muttered Brooke’s name initially, but when she was questioned further, she clearly said it was not Brooke!” “But—” Taylor started, only to be interrupted by the arrival of Dr. Rivera. “Mr. Forrester, ladies,” he quickly greeted them. “Is everything okay with Mrs. Forrester?” He asked. Eric breathed a sigh a relief. “No, doctor, as a matter of fact, it isn’t. She’s had some kind of emotional upset, and Dr. Sussman is with her now. If you don’t mind, once you’re done with her, I— we—would like to talk to you.” “Of course,” Dr. Rivera replied. “Now, if you’ll excuse me,” he said as he opened the door to Stephanie’s room. … Taylor stared darkly at Eric, somehow feeling betrayed. She curtly excused herself and turned on her heel and headed for the pay phones. If her father-in-law refused to believe her, then maybe her husband would. After all, he was meeting with those detectives this morning, and the information she had was critical.Eric and Kristen watched Taylor stalk off and spoke quietly, wondering about her strange behavior and appearance. Kristen then politely excused herself, as she had her own phone call that she needed to make, and it was not going to be pretty. _______________ WASHINGTON, D.C. Having made his flight arrangements, the man pondered what to do next. Obviously, he could not just show up in Los Angeles after all this time and expect a warm reception. He knew that his being there would not be universally celebrated and would, in fact, devastate several people. Taylor had already made that clear and he begrudgingly agreed with her. He also knew that he would have to answer plenty of difficult questions—many of them legal—which would have serious ramifications for many. He laughed ruefully. “Yeah, like the life insurance companies; the probate division of the court; my wives!” He had to agree with Taylor about one thing—there simply was no way to explain what would undoubtedly turn out to be a huge mess for all parties involved. After all, everyone had gone on with their lives after his “departure.” Taylor, in particular, had a great deal to lose once her role in the debacle was exposed. However, it was a risk he had to take. He was just sorry that she didn’t understand why.It was then that the man arrived upon what he considered a brilliant idea. He quickly logged onto his laptop and looked for his list of contacts. He then typed the search word that would enable him to find what he was looking for: “W-I-V-E-S.” Within a few short seconds, photographs of three different women appeared on his 17-inch color monitor—all beautiful and yet so different. He clicked on the picture of the first woman, and was immediately taken to a secondary screen containing her home and business addresses and phone numbers. He mulled over what to do for barely a moment. He decided to address the first of his three letters to the recipient’s home address, and wanted to ensure that it was for her eyes only. The man then selected and copied the address he needed and proceeded to open a document, which allowed him to paste the text into a template. He then began to type: Dear Brooke,
By the time you receive this letter, I will have been back in Los Angeles at least a few days. I realize that this will be quite shocking for you, but if you would allow me to explain the strange journey that I’ve been on—one that has kept me away from you and everyone I’ve ever loved. I realize that I should have no expectations that you will understand, much less forgive me for what I’ve done. But please know that not a day has gone by when I haven’t thought about you and the joy you brought to my life.
You see, my journey began a few short years ago with the help of … As he poured his heart out to the woman he had loved to distraction, a huge burden had been lifted. For the briefest of moments, he thought about pressing the “delete” button and forgetting the whole thing. However, his bags were packed and there was a one-way ticket waiting for him at Dulles Airport. There simply was no way he could turn back now. _______________

Whoa, awesome! This just gets better and better. Now this is B&B the way it should be written.
"Taylor stared darkly at Eric, somehow feeling betrayed."
Boy, she pisses me off! This is a reminder of why I do not like Taylor. She gangs up on Brooke and if someone doesn't join her, she feels betrayed. It is consistent with her character, as when she found out about the egg switch and screeched about it being Brooke's fault and Nick told her it wasn't, boy, she went nuts. She snarled, "Don't you DARE defend her."
I adore Kristen. She is the one sane one in this whole drama. And good for Eric to stand up to Taylor.
And this guy from Washington has me intrigued. Who IS he?

"Evil slut"? Taydrunk has NO business calling Brooke, or anyone else, an "evil slut." She hates Brooke so much, I bet she's hoping Brooke gets charged with shooting Satanie even if she didn't do it!
Remember on the show when she said she WASN'T grateful to Brooke for saving Jack's life? Well, here's the same petty, vicious, selfish, vindictive...and, yes, EVIL...little bitch, wanting Brooke to get in trouble for something she didn't do! And she freaks out when other people refuse to go along with her warped, sick little "revenge" fantasy.
"Attacking" her and Mace Face Drunkho? Once again, the bitch makes a judgement based on only half the story. She knows perfectly well that Brooke's so-called "attack" on her was in reaction to Taydrunk's own goading and nasty little comments, including an accusation that she faked her pregnancy. SHE barged her flat ass into Brooke's office to "scold" her for "hurting" Mace Face Drunkho -- she just couldn't mind her own business, could she? She now knows that Brooke's so-called "attack" on Mace Face Drunkho was ALSO in reaction to Mace Face Drunkho getting in her face. And Brooke didn't lay a finger on that smelly lush -- she merely dished back what the smelly lush gave. She did yank Taydrunk's precious Pantened hair, but frankly, Taydrunk is lucky she walked out of there with all of that hair still fastened to her scalp!
Let's not forget that Taydrunk is also the BITCH who, immediately after Venice, decided it just wasn't enough that Throoke split up and Brooke was devastated: no, she had to flounce into Brooke's office and DEMAND that Brooke "admit" she was still in love with Ugly N. Stupid! The dumb, EVIL slut had conveniently forgotten that, mere weeks before when she was on her "deathbed," she herself had begged Brooke to be there for Ugly and the Tridgenuggets should she croak, and when Brooke said she'd do it "only as a friend," Taydrunk insisted, "I know you will always love him"!
BOY do I loathe Taydrunk. I realize this is a fanfic, but it is COMPLETELY in keeping with the way the bitch acts on the show. Nowadays, she doesn't have the protective coating of her physical beauty, but she STILL continues to get away with murder, and she still gets to verbally abuse Brooke while Brooke is not permitted to fight back, though Lord knows, she has MORE than enough ammo to cut that drunken mommykilling evil BITCH down to size.
Myself, I think Brooke showed great restraint when it came to BOTH those hateful harpies, who have insisted on getting in her face time and time again, because they are such pathetic, no-life, insecure, spiteful LOSERS that they need their daily ration of "Bitch at and/or about Brooke" to function!
I am waiting for Taydrunk's comeuppance. Any compassion I felt for her because of her rough childhood is completely GONE. And since I know the SLUT will never get her comeuppance on the actual show, I'm happy to see it in fanfic, which is about a million times better written than anything DumbBell has ever written in his lazy, spoiled life.

Taylor will definitely tap dance on your nerves, but the postman always rings twice and she will get blindsided. Between the investigation into her professional practices, the gentleman from D.C. and Ridge's cheating on her, Miss Girl is going to have her hands full. As for the gentleman in D.C., all I can tell you is to keep reading!

As always, LaLogan, you are spot on in your assessment of Taylor and her ilk! She will definitely be cut no slack in my story and it will be interesting to see how she deals with the snake living in her own house, i.e. her husband; the very real danger that Phyllis poses; the investigation launched by Brooke; and, of course, our mystery man in D.C. She should definitely focus on her own life and worry less about Brooke's.

Is it mean to be happy that she isn't going to be cut slack?
I am also intrigued at the idea of her "ethics" being questioned. Part of me feels bad, as she has put in a lot of effort to get past her humble beginnings, but the other part of me is tired of the way she gets away with so much on this show. When she found out about the egg donor and had all those meltdowns, I wished that someone, ANYONE, would have stepped up to the plate and told her to get over herself. Instead, TPTB trashed Rick's character.

Had she not been so intent on hopping on Nick's bones, knowing that he was on the rebound from a woman he loved deeply, none of that would have happened. She had been coveting Nick ever since she decided in her own estimation that Brooke wasn't good enough for him, implying that she was somehow the better alternative. Like the opportunist she's always been, she showed up on his boat at inopportune moments, ingratiated herself to him, and thought nothing of stirring up a hornet's nest by telling him that Ridge raped Brooke before Brooke had a chance to tell Nick herself. That she would get upset because Nick never stopped loving Brooke was ridiculous. Given how much time she spent "treating" him, surely his feelings for Brooke had to have come up in their sessions? And when Bridget ran away from home, I loved how the shrinkless wonder allowed her BFF to rush over to Brooke's to "counsel" the family when in actuality, she was only there to mark her territory because she couldn't be sure that Ridge wouldn't feel guilty and want to stay with the family he deserted. The show is replete with other examples of this quack abusing her authority, particularly when she stood to benefit from the outcome.

What got me during the egg SL was how selfish Taylor was being during the whole thing. Granted having the donor be someone she didn't like was hardly ideal, she should have counted her blessings that, not only did said donor step up and save Jack's life, but she should have been thankful that, as a wealthy woman, she had options, which is more than I can say for a lot of women who want a baby but can't because of their eggs not being viable. Instead, she drank, cursed at the baby, accused him of mocking her, and flew off the handle. Yet for all the press and characters claiming what a great mom she is, the issue of Jack never comes up.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA “Brooke, are you just about ready?” Storm asked as he glanced at his watch. “I am—just let me get my purse and we can finally be on our way.” Brooke replied. As she gathered her purse and briefcase, she quickly grabbed Trent’s handwritten note and placed it in her purse. How she wished she had time to track him down! Brooke thought. To thank him for his magnificent gift, of course—nothing else, she hastily added. Brooke smirked and then chuckled to herself. Exactly, who was she kidding? She knew full well that a simple thank you wouldn’t suffice—not for either of them. Brooke thought about their meeting the day before along the trails of the Sunset Ranch: "I told you what I wanted,” Trent had said. “I admit that I saw some pictures and an article in a magazine and was intrigued. Now that I've met you, I'm even more intrigued. I actually want to get to know the lady in those pictures—the smart businesswoman, the equestrienne, the athlete and the chemist. And, I won't lie. I do want to make love to you, Brooke, but not in the way you think."
"Oh?" Brooke had wondered.
"Lovemaking in the true sense of the word involves more than just intercourse, sweetheart. Much more. It starts here." Trent explained as he placed his large hands on each side of Brooke's forehead and gently caressed it. "And then here," he continued in a dulcet tone, moving two of his fingers along the side of Brooke's face, down to her neck, and then to the hollow of her throat. Trent then slowly moved his index finger further, stopping short of the valley between her breasts.
Brooke's heart began to beat unevenly and her breath caught in her throat. "I see," she whispered uneasily.
"I would have to be totally into you before taking it to a physical level."
"Trent, I—I don't know ...” An uncertain Brooke said.
"Baby, the sexual organ that I'm interested in is the one between your ears—not between your legs. I don't want to just take you to bed and then walk away. I want you, Brooke—all of you." "Trent, I don't know if I can give you all of me." Brooke sadly replied. Brooke blushed when she thought about that exchange and found herself wishing that the fates had not conspired against her. She wanted him, Brooke decided. Just as sure as the sun rose in the East, she wanted him. But, it wasn’t to be, she thought regretfully. If only she didn’t have all this drama facing her, then maybe she could give him what he wanted—what they both wanted. If only— “By the way, have you given anymore thought to the polygraph that Ted suggested?” Storm asked, breaking Brooke’s train of thought and effectively bringing her back to earth. “Oh, that,” Brooke replied wanly. “I don’t know, Stormy. I just don’t feel comfortable going that route. I know they aren’t admissible and I know what Ted said, but I would rather not. In fact, I would rather not be dealing with any of this at all. It’s simply astounding that I’m going to have to shell out $10,000 today to some high-powered attorney for something I didn’t do!” “I know, honey,” Storm clucked sympathetically. “Unfortunately, it’s a necessity and you said yourself that there was no price tag on your freedom.” “Yeah, I did say that, didn’t I?” Brooke said with a rueful smile. “It seems like a lot of things I said have come back to bite me on the butt!” Storm chuckled and gave Brooke a quick hug. “Cheer up! You’re a Logan and you come from good stock. We’ll get through this.” He said reassuringly. Brooke nodded. “I know we will. Well, it looks as if I have everything—including my checkbook!” She said with a laugh. “Oh, and about Megan …” “Yeah?” Storm asked, his ears perking up immediately. “She’s not married or otherwise committed to anyone.” Brooke confirmed. “I’m glad to hear she’s a free agent!” “But, I’m warning you, Stormy. Megan isn’t just my assistant; she’s also my friend and I swear if you hurt her—” “Meowwww! Retract your claws,” Storm snappily replied with a grin. “I promise you that your friend will be treated well and with the utmost respect. Besides, my last name is Logan— not Forrester!” … Ridge’s skin was damp and pasty, and he looked as if he would pass out at any moment. He desperately tried to come up with a way to extricate himself from a mess he unwittingly helped to create. They think Logan did it, he said to himself repeatedly. And so do Dad … and maybe Taylor … and Lord knows who else. Ridge pictured the faces of Brooke’s children and inwardly shrank from their images. How could he possibly explain to Rick and Bridget that he helped to send their mother to jail? “Mr. Forrester, is everything okay?” Detective Blair repeatedly asked in an attempt to pierce through Ridge’s fog. “Mr. Forrester?” Detective Moretti called. “Do you need to take a break?” Ridge initially saw their lips moving but heard no words. Then the fog slowly dissipated and he was able to finally focus. “I’m sorry, what was that?” He asked. “Detective Moretti asked if you need a break,” Detective Blair replied. “We can appreciate how difficult this is for you, and if you don’t think you can continue, we can stop and resume our interview in a few minutes.” Just a few minutes? Ridge wondered. How about stopping it altogether! Instead, he said aloud, “No, no … we can keep going.” “Very well then,” Detective Moretti said with a nod. “If you don’t mind, I would like to switch gears for a moment. It is my understanding from several witnesses that on the day of the shooting, your father held an emergency board meeting of Forrester’s shareholders.” “Yeah,” Ridge said dryly, sinking down in his chair, as he knew exactly where this was going. “My father being one of the several witnesses, I presume. What did he say?” Detective Moretti noted Ridge’s behavior and responded, “Well, according to him, some heated words were exchanged between your mother and Ms. Logan. It’s also my understanding that a threat of some sort was made.” “And, according to your brother,” Detective Blair added, “not only was a threat made on your mother’s life, but your mother gave back as good as she got—all but challenging Ms. Logan to bring it.” “So our question to you, Mr. Forrester, is this. What did you observe of this altercation?” Detective Moretti asked. “And, did your mother have any reason to fear for her safety?” Detective Blair followed up. Ridge looked stumped by now. His psyche engaged in an internal war where his loyalty to his mother was tested, while his loyalty to Brooke was also tested. It was not a position he wanted to be in, and a part of him resented the detectives for placing him there. He wanted to tell the truth, but he was terrified that the truth would have dire consequences. He had already screwed up, Ridge reasoned. He then went to the next level and figured he had the perfect opportunity to change the detectives’ perceptions of Brooke. What would really be the harm if he changed a few facts here and there? He would tell just enough of the truth to make his testimony seem plausible. Ridge assured himself. If the police discovered that he had been less than truthful … well, he would just claim he was mistaken, that was all. After what seemed like an interminable amount of time, Detective Blair prodded Ridge. “Mr. Forrester?” Ridge looked at the detectives and smiled. “Oh, yeah—you were asking me about my mother. Well, in all honesty— no, she had no reason to fear Brooke,” Ridge clearly stated. “My mother’s never been afraid of anything in her life. As a matter of fact, Brooke was more afraid of her if you ask me.” “Oh, really?” Detective Blair asked, quickly exchanging glances with her partner. “Yes,” Ridge confirmed, clearly becoming more comfortable. “You see, by the time Brooke left the conference room, she was practically in tears—shaking, in fact. At first, I thought it was because she was angry, but I have no doubt now that she was shaking because she was terrified.” “Uh-huh,” a skeptical Detective Moretti commented. “And, you know this because?” “Because I was married to the woman and I know her better than anyone!” Ridge affirmatively stated. “And, what was she so terrified about?” Detective Blair asked. “That she would lose the company,” Ridge glibly replied. Say what?! Detective Blair asked herself in astonishment. “You’re serious?” “As a heart attack,” Ridge replied in a deadpan voice. “Brooke’s worked very hard for Forrester over the years, and she didn’t want to lose it.” “I see,” Detective Moretti coolly said. “And, at no time did she ever tell your mother—and I quote—‘Do you know that I could kill you?’—end quote?” He pointedly asked. “NO!” An emotional Ridge quickly responded—a little too quickly. “I mean—no,” he said, in a futile attempt to rein in his emotions. Detective Blair watched the interplay of emotions on Ridge’s face. “You’re saying that she never said that?” She quietly asked Ridge again just to see if he would change his answer. “ Never!” Ridge insisted. “I don’t know exactly what Dad or Thorne told you, but they were lie—um, mistaken.” “I see,” Detective Blair said with a small smile. “Why don’t you tell us then exactly what happened.” “No problem,” Ridge said. “From where I sit,” Ridge began only to be interrupted when his phone rang. When he realized that it was his direct personal line, he became slightly alarmed. He immediately knew it was Taylor and was afraid something was wrong. Emotionally unprepared, Ridge let the phone ring as if this simple act alone could ward off any bad news. “Aren’t you going to answer that?” Detective Moretti asked. Knowing he was caught, Ridge groaned and slowly picked up the receiver. “Yes?” He said in a hoarse voice. “Oh, Ridge, thank God you’re still there!” Taylor practically sobbed. “What—what’s wrong?” Ridge asked, steeling himself for the worst. His mother was dead; he just knew it!“Are you still meeting with those detectives?” Taylor abruptly asked, surprising Ridge. “What?” He asked in confusion. “Are those detectives still in your office?” Taylor stridently demanded. Ridge quickly cut his eyes at Detectives Moretti and Blair before responding. “Um, yeah,” he dumbly replied. “I need to speak with them— right now!” _______________ “Here we go again,” Thorne sighed as he and Macy sat side by side in Sally’s living room. “Yeah,” Macy said in a small voice as she allowed the “sweet effect” to take over. “Mace— why do we keep going through this? Just explain that one to me?” Thorne asked. “Because you can’t make up your mind as to whether you want to be married to me or not,” Macy answered simply. Thorne looked at Macy as if she was crazy. “Come on, Mace! This isn’t just about you and me, and you know it! Are we going to just pretend that you didn’t have yet another relapse yesterday?” Thorne asked in exasperation. Macy frowned in annoyance. “Well, not when everyone keeps throwing it up in my face!” She snapped defensively. “It’s mighty funny how you can preach all day long about my drinking. Meanwhile, I have a husband who can’t wait to divorce me so that he can take up with his slutty girlfriend!” “See—this is just what I mean! I can’t talk to you anymore—about anything!” Thorne exclaimed. “You know, I would just like to have one conversation—just one—where you don’t go on some rant about Brooke!” Macy was incredulous at Thorne’s nerve. “Well, what do you expect?!” She snarled. “I stop by the office and she’s in your arms! Don’t think I’ve forgotten about that because I haven’t! Any other wife would have cut your d*ck off by now!” Thorne had heard enough and quickly stood. “You know, you have the maturity level of a gnat,” he spat dispassionately. “We have a lot of issues that we need to discuss and all we seem to do is keep having the same arguments and I’m tired of it!” “Oh, you’re tired?” Macy asked with a quick laugh. “Well, you aren’t the only one who’s tired, baby!” “So what are you saying—that we should just end it?” Thorne asked. “Because that’s what I’m hearing.” Macy folded her arms, looked at Thorne and smiled thinly. “Oh, you would just love that, now wouldn’t you?” She taunted him. “Well, you can leave me if you want, but it will be over my dead body!” _______________

Awesome reading! I am waiting for Brooke and Trent's next meeting. Hopefully it will be as memorable as the first.
I am getting whiplash regarding Taylor! In one section, I feel like crying over her bad childhood, and in the next, I want to tell her to STFU!
Soo, Macy is going to hold onto Thorne out of spite, eh? Why am I even surprised? This chick has the perfect chance to cut her losses and do something right, but she never does.
And Thorne is right, they cannot have a single conversation without the harpy screeching about Brooke.

And Thorne is right, they cannot have a single conversation without the harpy screeching about Brooke. LOL! Gio, Taylor will definitely be tap-dancing on your last good nerve by the time it’s all said and done! One minute you want to feel sorry for her and admire her for wanting better for herself. The next minute, you want to wring her neck and shake her. I’m afraid more of that is to come as the walls start closing in around her. Taylor’s over-the-top behavior is also fueled by fear and uncertainty—genuine fear of no longer being in control of her life. First, there’s the unnerving phone call from the guy in D.C. and the fear of exposure. She knows that he could cause her to lose everything and her only comfort is in knowing that he’s staying put. Plus, she knows she can’t really control Ridge’s behavior, thought processes (such as they are) and movements without her BFF to actively run interference for her. Imagine that … she’s actually going to have to handle her own marriage herself! She also believes that getting Brooke out of FC will only benefit the company. Does she genuinely believe that Brooke did this? Like some politicians, Taylor is cherry-picking and processing only the information that will suit her agenda. Now, you know that Macy never fights fair. She’s a petty, spiteful mess and she has no problem going for the jugular. She overheard what Thorne said to her parents and right away she’s out to “punish” him, not realizing that she’s only punishing herself by trying to hold onto him. Brooke and Trent will definitely be the couple to watch here, but it won’t be smooth sailing. Her legal issues and other baggage, and his L.A. and D.C. baggage, as well as the prospect of a political career … OY!

Kristen waited impatiently as the phone rang four times. Come on; pick up! She frowned. When the phone was finally answered, she wasted little time on the niceties and got to the point. “Where in the hell are you?” She demanded. After some hesitation and some obvious shuffling around, the other party yawned and sleepily said, “I’m, um—just rolling out of bed.” “Rolling in the bed would be more like it!” Kristen sniped, “and I would bet anything you’re not in it by yourself either!” “Oh, brother! Look, I’m sorry, okay? I meant to come home, but … well, is our mother still amongst the living?” “Damn it, Felicia!” Kristen snapped. “Our mother was shot and nearly died last Thursday; today is Monday and you are still in Italy! What in the hell is wrong with you?” “I can assure you that there’s nothing wrong with me,” Felicia calmly responded. “What’s with all the squawking?” “Felicia, there are things going on here that you don’t even have a clue about and our father needs all the support he can get. That’s what’s going on!” “Oh yeah—how is Dad holding up?” Felicia asked. “How do you think he’s holding up, Felicia?” Kristen sarcastically asked. “Look, I’m sorry, okay? I’ve just been unfortunately detained, that’s all.” Felicia attempted to explain. When Kristen heard a male voice muttering in the background, she had had enough. “Detained? Well, I would strongly suggest that you UN-detain yourself, hop up off of whatever is below Dante’s waist and get your ass home! I’m sick of this sh*t!” An infuriated Kristen yelled before slamming the phone down. _______________ “Mary’s somethin’ else, isn’t she?” Harlan asked admiringly as he watched his protégé, Mary Cutler, making her way toward him and Trent. “That she is,” Trent agreed. “She’s very sharp.” “Mmm hmm. Oh, and get this—she’s unattached,” Harlan said in a low voice. Trent sighed heavily and rolled his eyes. “Don’t tell me we’re going through that exercise again?” “Not at all,” Harlan claimed. He was about to say more, but Mary was upon him and Trent within seconds. “I really enjoyed your presentation,” Trent said politely. “Thank you,” Mary replied with a smile. “I understand from Harlan that you haven’t quite committed to the FCC position yet. Are you at least interested?” “I’m definitely interested, but as I told Harlan, it’s a huge step for me and I need some time to think about it. Plus, I would like to discuss the next phase of this ‘project’ with my family.” “Of course,” Mary said. “I totally understand. You take all the time you need; I agree that you should discuss it with your family. There’s going to be a lot of press coverage and scrutiny. By the way, I understand that you may be concerned about a rehashing of some of the issues surrounding your divorce, but keep in mind that was two years ago. If your former wife can manage to keep herself out of the news, I don’t really foresee a lot of problems.” Trent nodded. “Well, I have had virtually no personal contact with Barbara since the divorce. We’ve communicated mostly through our attorneys, and from what I understand, she and her son are living quite comfortably. She’s moved on with her life, and I’ve moved on with mine.” “That’s good to know, Trent,” Mary said. “You’re the complete package—smart, successful, attractive, and from what I can tell, rather circumspect in your choice of female companions. They seem rather discreet and definitely bring something to the table although one of them does have a bit of a reputation as a gold-digger.” “My female companions?” Trent sardonically asked with a raised eyebrow before laughing. “You seem to know quite a bit about the ladies I’m involved with.” Mary laughed quickly. “Trent, it’s my business to know things like that. I hope you aren’t offended, but I had to check. It’s my job to anticipate problems down the road and to do whatever is necessary to eliminate or at least minimize them. Keep in mind that your divorce was rather nasty. Those emails your ex-wife sent to your law firm, the Washington Post and some of the other media outlets during your divorce proceedings made for some pretty salacious reading. I would just hate to see all that rehashed again.” “So would I,” Trent said tersely. “Not to worry,” Harlan chimed in. “There are ways of dealin’ with that kind of trouble.” He muttered darkly, thinking about what he had in store for Stella. “And, should I decide to go all the way with this, I take it that I’ll be working with you closely through this entire process?” Trent asked. “Indeed,” Mary replied, eyeing Trent appreciatively. “You’ll have my undivided attention.” _______________ “Mrs. Forrester, I got here as soon as I could,” Dr. Rivera said as he greeted his patient. “Doctor, I don’t understand what happened,” a dazed and confused Stephanie said. “Perhaps you remembered something about the shooting,” Dr. Rivera carefully said. “I try to remember, but I just don’t recall,” Stephanie said, shaking her head in confusion. “Do you remember who was in your room just a short while ago?” Dr. Rivera asked. “Well … people have been in and out of here most of the morning. Am I still having my MRI today?” Stephanie asked as if she were asking about the weather. “Yes, but only if you are up to it.” Dr. Sussman answered. “I think I can do this,” Stephanie said. “But, my family is supposed to be here for that. Where’s my husband?” “He, your daughter and daughter-in-law are right outside.” Dr. Rivera explained. “Do you feel you are up to visitors?” “Of course … why wouldn’t I be?” Stephanie wondered. Drs. Sussman and Rivera’s eyes met briefly. “If you feel up to it, of course, and provided no one upsets you,” Dr. Rivera smoothly replied. “And, by the way,” Dr. Sussman said, “we’re going to have to ask your family to take your flowers home. I realize that they’re a gift from your husband, but they simply aren’t allowed in the ICU unit,” he explained. Dr. Rivera slightly tensed up and looked away uncomfortably. However, the person who should have been the most uncomfortable strangely was not. “The flowers?” Stephanie murmured absently. “Of course,” she replied when she noticed them on her bedside table. “By all means, have Eric take them home. He’s such a thoughtful man …” Stephanie sighed wistfully. _______________ “Megan, I’m heading out for my afternoon appointment and will try to get back here as soon as possible.” Brooke explained. “Sure,” Megan said with a smile. “When do you expect to return?” She asked. “I should be no longer than two or three hours, I think, depending on traffic,” Brooke replied. “Oh, and I believe you’ve met my brother,” she smoothly said. “I have,” Megan nodded. She then extended her hand to Storm, who grasped it in his own. “It was nice seeing you again, Mr. Logan.” “It’s Storm—my father is known as Mr. Logan,” Storm said with a grin. “By the way, I hope to see you again soon,” he murmured softly. He was pleasantly surprised when Megan surreptitiously slipped him a small slip of paper. Already guessing what it was, he raised an eyebrow and was thrilled that she saved him the trouble of asking. “The feeling is mutual, Storm,” Megan said softly, while Brooke hid a smile and pretended not to notice. … “Hello! Ridge! Do you hear me talking to you?” Taylor repeatedly asked. “Loud and clear,” Ridge numbly said in an attempt not to betray any emotion. “Well, are you going to let me speak to them or aren’t you?” Taylor impatiently demanded. “Doc, please calm down. Why don’t you just tell me what happened.” Ridge said slowly as he swiveled his chair around for some measure of privacy. “Your mother identified the shooter!” Taylor claimed. The color drained from Ridge’s face. “She did?” He managed to gulp. “What—what did she say?” He faintly asked. “She said it was Brooke!” Taylor announced. “But, evidently, your sister claims she heard differently. Your father doesn’t seem to believe it either. Now, I know we’ve talked about this at home, and it may be difficult for you to accept. We can’t delay another moment, Ridge. Once I’ve spoken to the police, they need to get over here pronto! There’s only a small window of opportunity before Stephanie—” As Taylor frantically prattled on, Ridge tuned out. His heart nearly dropped to his knees and he entered his own version of a fugue-like state. He slowly swiveled his chair around and vaguely saw the detectives watching him closely. She said Brooke did it! He thought over and over again. It’s not true; his mother was wrong! “Ridge, are you still there?” Taylor stridently demanded when she realized that Ridge had yet to respond to her comments. “Ridge, I—” In an attempt to deny the unthinkable, Ridge did the first thing he could think of at the moment. He simply dropped the receiver back in its cradle and acted as if the call never took place. True, it was rude and disrespectful to his wife and he knew there would be hell to pay when he got home—or before—but what else was he supposed to do?“Is the line dead?” Detective Moretti quietly asked an obviously stricken Ridge. Ridge’s mouth was suddenly as dry as cotton. “ Dead?” He asked. “No—my mother isn’t—she’s quite alive,” he said slowly. “Mr. Forrester, I wasn’t talking about your mother—I asked if the telephone line is dead.” Detective Moretti clarified. What in the heck happened just now? He wondered. “Oh,” Ridge replied. “No, um, my wife was called away suddenly, but everything is okay,” Ridge claimed. “If you don’t mind my asking,” Detective Blair began, “what was that call all about?” “Nothing …” Ridge said slowly. “Nothing at all.” _______________ WASHINGTON, D.C. Okay—one down; two more to go, the man thought as he spellchecked, saved and then printed his first letter. He then selected the next picture on his list of contacts, although he knew the recipient’s address by heart. After all, he had been writing to her for a long time now, he thought. As he copied and pasted the next address into the template, he took a deep breath. “She’ll never understand,” he sighed. He was well aware that this next letter might forever sever his ties to the woman who risked everything for him, but he had to write it. Taking a deep breath, he began: Dear Taylor,
I’ve given a great deal of thought to our conversation yesterday. I know we agreed that I would stay away, but I just can’t. You have been blessed to find love again with a man, who frankly doesn’t deserve you. From what I’ve seen, you have a beautiful family. Surely, you must understand that I want the same thing. This is why I can no longer live this double life, nor can I stay away anymore—not while the woman I love is in trouble.
I will always be eternally grateful for everything you’ve done for me. Your compassion for others in need is one of the reasons I fell in love with you so long ago. I realize that your world will come apart at the seams when I return to Los Angeles. All I can do is hope and pray for your forgiveness and understanding. I’ve already contacted Brooke, and soon I will be contacting … _______________

Awesome!
Boy, Taylor is something else, isn't she? Of course Kristen is wrong and she is right. And her urgency is pissing me off. One would think that Brooke is a flight risk from the way she is carrying on. Meanwhile, while she is harping about Brooke, her husband is screwing a woman he just met (Thus putting her at risk of an STD.), her mystery man is on his way to LA, and her man's current ego-masturbator is a certified nut job. She had better watch herself or she is going to get blindsided. And I have yet to touch on Brooke's inquiry into her practices.
And I love Kristen. She seems to be the one sane one in the family.
Ridge is as clueless as always. I cannot believe he hung up on Taylor! I imagine her reaction is going to be ugly. I can also see her, making tracks to FC to tell the cops what she thinks she knows. If she does, I hope the two of them see right through her.

Poor Taylor ... Miss Girl is simply a hot mess right now! I do wonder about her haste and if she believes that Brooke is still her competition, then she's barking up the wrong tree. But, she'll find out soon enough just how honest her "ideal husband" has been. Kristen is right to be outraged by Felicia's ass-dragging. Whether she was close to Stephanie or not, several days have passed since the shooting and she's still in Italy laid up with Dante. It's high time someone lit a fire under her. Poor Ridge! Had he simply not acted so hastily, things wouldn't be snowballing the way they are right now. And, hanging up on one's wife ... ugly!

I'm really starting to wonder what other "skeletons" Taylor has tucked away in her closet! ;D Little Miss Innocent is going to have some explaining to do! I loved the heated exchange between Storm and Brooke. It's refreshing to see these two butt heads, but still respect each other. Storm's advice/warning about how involved Brooke should be in Taylor's investigation is spot on! oh Trent...... Tucked away at a conference...and having thoughts of Brooke. I see she is steadily creeping into his heart and mind. I really love the dynamics of this budding relationship! I too am a bit puzzled by Ridge's account of Taylor's and Stephanie's exchange... I'm sure it will make sense, but you do have me wondering! ;D ooooops....seems I have more pages to read Three wives??? I didn't see that one coming at all! I'm pleasantly surprised, and am wondering who the third wife is! That does seem to be the question at this point. Stephanie will have to admit that she is no better than all the "sluts and tramps" that she's berated over the years. Something I highly doubt that she has the balls to do. Of course, even if she does admit to the affair, she'll blame Brooke, or Eric for finding satisfaction outside of her own marriage. Honestly, I can't really blame her for the affair, however, she tangled with the wrong wife and was just a little to smug with Elke.

In answer to your question, Taylor's skeletons are so big that it's a wonder a bone doesn't fall out of her mouth every time she opens it. Storm and Brooke are so much alike that they can't help but to butt heads from time to time just real life siblings do. However, they are fiercely loyal to one another. Brooke should definitely heed her brother's warnings about her hatred for the Triflin' Trio. I'm glad that you're enjoying the dynamics of Brooke and Trent's budding relationship. They are both very independent. They are also a bit gun-shy about starting anything up, but may be open to allowing things to follow their natural course. Poor Ridge ... he heard something that may have been completely innocent and ran away with it. All he knew was that he was determined that Brooke wasn't going to be railroaded, but it seems that however honorable his intentions are, he's making a bad situation worse. ITA with your take on Stephanie. Also, you're aboslutely right that she tangled with the wrong "desperate" housewife! The funny thing about Stephanie and Phillipe is that neither of them ever intended to leave their respective spouses. Thanks for reading and your comments! I look forward to reading more from you!

Thorne looked at his wife in contempt and then laughed shortly. “Over your dead body? Don’t tempt the fates, sweetheart!” Horrified, Macy audibly gasped, not quite sure of what she heard. “Excuse me, but are you threatening me?” She asked. “No threats, my sweet—just a warning. I wouldn’t even put the ‘over my dead body’ nonsense in the atmosphere if I were you.” “So what are you saying?” Macy stridently demanded. “All I’m saying is that you should be very careful about what comes out of your mouth. Some of the things you say may become a self-fulfilling prophecy—especially when my family finds out how my mother really landed in the hospital.” “Go to hell, Thorne!” Macy snapped. “I’ve already been there—marriage to you—or have you forgotten?” Thorne asked in a deadpan voice. “Well, if marriage to me has been so hellish, why don’t you just get the hell OUT!” Macy yelled. She was not only pissed about Thorne’s insults, she was also pissed that he was slowly killing her buzz. “You all but said you would make it difficult for me to leave, or don’t you remember that either?” Thorne patiently asked. In frustration, Macy demanded, “Look, why are you here?” Thorne took a deep breath before responding. “I’m here because there’s still enough of a man here to care about what actually happens to you.” Thorne responded. “You are drinking again, Macy, and that has me concerned. I wanted to be sure that you were actually okay. Not only that, I understand now that you’re seeing a lawyer later.” “I have to make a statement to the police,” Macy explained. “I’m aware of that,” Thorne said. “I would like to be there when you meet with them.” “What? I don’t get it … why would you want to be there?” Macy suspiciously asked. “Because I feel partly responsible for how this whole mess came about. And, no matter what our issues are, I’m still your husband.” Thorne said. “And, what about your family?” Macy wondered. “You all but blamed me yesterday and I have no doubt they will, too!” “That is why I want to be there, Mace—to sort of minimize the damage so to speak. My sister, Kristen, already knows and it’s only a matter of time before the rest of my family finds out. Oh, and there’s something else you should be prepared for,” Thorne warned. “What?” “It’s possible that Brooke—” Thorne began in an attempt to warn Macy of Brooke’s promise to swear out a warrant against her. “That slut again! Well, she can go to hell, too!” Macy shouted, cutting Thorne off. “This all started when she was hiding under your bed. She always wants what somebody else has! She—” As Macy went on with her well-worn rant, Thorne inwardly cringed. A part of him felt as if he was betraying Brooke by warning Macy. However, Brooke had made it clear that her threat was not an idle one, and he wanted Macy to be on guard. What was the use? Thorne asked himself. As usual, his wife’s all-consuming hatred and flapping gums trumped everything else.… “Why that son of a—” Adam nearly swore from the kitchen. He immediately jumped up and was about to make a beeline into the living room, only to have Sally restrain him. “Sit down, Adam!” She sternly said. “I’m not about to sit here and let that—that bastard threaten my daughter’s life and insult her!” Adam insisted. “And I said, sit down, Adam!” Sally reiterated. “I agree that neither of us should just sit here and allow Thorne to threaten our daughter, but we need to let them handle this. Remember, we need Thorne on Macy’s side when the you-know-what hits the fan.” Sally reminded Adam. Sally’s dose of common sense momentarily deflated Adam’s rage and he slowly sat down. “What makes you think he’ll take Macy’s side in all of this?” “Oh, I know he didn’t just come over here just to check up on Macy. Uh-uh. Thorne has always had a need to be perceived as the good guy. He would never just dump Macy and go on his merry way. He came over here for another reason and I bet it has everything to do with what happened with those cops at their house yesterday. He may have been angry about what happened, but he’ll never allow Macy to be thrown to the wolves.” Sally firmly stated. _______________ Thunderstruck, Taylor stared at the receiver in her hand. He hung up on me … that son of a bitch actually hung up on me! She fumed. “Mrs. Forrester, is everything okay?” The clerk at the nurses’ station asked. “Did you need to make another phone call? If you do, I’m afraid I’m going to have to insist that you use one of the payphones so that this one isn’t tied up.” The clerk explained sympathetically. “Of course,” a bewildered Taylor slowly said while gripping the receiver. In her haste, she did not realize until it was too late that she had left her purse in Stephanie’s room. Not wanting to wait, Taylor asked if she could use the phone at the nurses’ station, explaining that she had an emergency. She had been on a mission to bring Stephanie’s incoherent declarations to the attention of the police. Unfortunately, her mission had been thwarted by the one person she least expected it from. Now Taylor was forced to confront an ugly truth. Not only were Eric and Kristen skeptical, but so was her own husband. Taylor handed the receiver back to the clerk, quietly thanked her and numbly made her way back to Stephanie’s room. She was thisclose to walking out the door, hopping into her Mercedes SUV and driving over to Forrester Creations and letting Ridge have it. How dare he do this to her? HOW DARE HE?! A seething Taylor silently screamed. Noticeably calmer, Taylor was now mindful that her own behavior may have contributed to her in-laws’ skepticism. She could also imagine that she must have looked quite a fright. After all, she was supposed to be there for Stephanie. Taylor then resolved to deal with Ridge later that evening. Hang up on her would he? Even more insulting to Taylor was the underlying knowledge of what Ridge’s actions conveyed. It did not take a rocket scientist to realize that Ridge was less than receptive to the news that Stephanie named Brooke as the shooter. This realization was like a stab to the heart for Taylor and went to the heart of everything she reluctantly conceded was wrong with their marriage since returning from Venice. She was also forced to admit that the call from her “friend” in Washington, D.C. had unnerved her more than she realized. Thank God her message finally penetrated through his brain and he would be staying in D.C. where he belonged!By the time Taylor turned the corridor, she was noticeably calmer and had resolved to accomplish her original goal—lending her support to her best friend. She had something in store for Ridge later though—no nookie. Oh, and as added punishment, she would meet with those detectives herself! A smug Taylor thought. _______________ Stella walked into her condo and slammed the door behind her. She was well aware of the condo association’s rules about excessive noise, but she was beyond caring. She kicked off her shoes at the door, not wanting to track dirt onto her white carpet. She then walked into the living room and studiously ignored the various bridal magazines strewn about the coffee table. Modern Bride, L.A. Bride, Martha Stewart Weddings. Stella frowned and asked herself one critical question that bore repeating: What did the brides in those magazines have that she did not? Answer: Willing bridegrooms! “Damn!” She swore loudly. She was finally forced to admit that her unplanned luncheon with Arnold had been a fool’s errand. Her fact-finding mission had gone horribly awry and she was truly at a loss as to what to do next. "So you're saying I have no case then?" Stella had asked.
"No, Stella," Arnold had replied. "You don't have a case. Now rather than wasting anymore time on this pointless exercise, I would suggest you think of a creative way to extricate yourself from this relationship—one that will at least leave you with a shred of dignity." “Dignity! What’s that?” Stella laughed bitterly. Stella figured that the best thing she could do at the moment was nothing. There was no law that said she had to get together with Trent on his timetable. She decided to wait Trent out and hoped that he would be so occupied with work that he would have little time to focus on their relationship. Well, that’s a first! Stella thought with an ironic laugh. One thing was certain; she had to do something before Trent headed back to D.C. at the end of the month. Stella walked toward a small table and pressed the PLAY button on her answering machine. She barely listened to her messages, but one message caused her heart to drop to her knees. Hey sweetie! This is BiBi! Well, apparently that site I showed you yesterday after brunch is pretty popular and I have another client who wants to scoop it up for a promotional event. Well, you know you’re my girl and everything, right? I’m fully aware of Trent’s hands-off approach to the wedding planning, but you guys have left me with little wiggle room and they can’t hold the place indefinitely without a firm date. Well, I hope you don’t mind, sweetie, but I called Trent myself this morning to light a fire under his butt! Like I said, you’re my girl, and I really don’t appreciate how he’s been treating you and leaving you to do everything yourself! Anyhoo— Stella’s stomach began to roil and the bile rose to her throat. In a panic, she gripped her stomach and rushed to the luxuriously decorated bathroom. She quickly lifted the seat and held her head over the bowl lest the contents of that afternoon’s lunch ended up on her marbled floor. By the time she was done, Stella had to flush the toilet twice. In a daze, Stella washed her face and hands. Tears immediately sprang to her beautiful amethyst-colored eyes. She gripped her stomach again and slowly sank to the bathroom floor and moaned like a wounded animal. Stella drew her knees to her chest and began to rock back and forth as tears ran down her cheeks. “Oh, Bibi!” She sobbed brokenly. “Oh, my God! Bibi, what in the world have you done? What have you done?!” _______________ “Mr. Forrester, you’re sure that everything is okay with your mother?” Detective Blair asked. “Look, how much longer am I going to have to keep answering your questions?” Ridge groused. “Until we’re done,” Detective Blair frostily replied. “Besides you’re the one who called us, remember?” Ridge frowned, as he belatedly kicked himself for getting this party started. “Yeah, sorry about that,” he sheepishly said. Detective Moretti made some quick notes and then he addressed Ridge. “I believe you were in the process of telling us what occurred at that emergency board meeting. Oh, and if you don’t mind, I’ll be recording your statement.” “Right,” Ridge said dryly before launching into his own narrative: FLASHBACK:After the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved, Eric announced the purpose of the emergency board meeting, which had been called with little notice to either Brooke or Thorne.
"Brooke, as you know, you have a tendency to make rash decisions when you feel threatened or when you're upset. We appreciate your service here. However, we would like to talk about the possibility of buying out your shares and redistributing them to the rest of the shareholders. We also have little confidence in your ability to run this company in a professional and constructive manner. We—"
Stephanie interrupted Eric, impatient to get on with it. "Oh, please! Let's just cut to the chase, Eric! The bottom line is this, Brooke! We want your ass OUT of here! Although the idea of paying you money to get rid of you is abominable to me, Eric and I think it's the best way."
Brooke's eyes had grown as wide as saucers as she looked around the table. “Ridge, did you know about this?” She asked, the pain evident in her voice.
Ridge looked distinctly uncomfortable. “Logan, I’m sorry that it’s come to this. Maybe a nice leave of absence would do—at least until you get your head together.”
Although Thorne looked stricken, he was tongue-tied and said little. However, Eric and Stephanie looked determined. It was a strategy they had discussed at length the evening before with a reluctant Ridge, who merely went along to keep the peace. Always an afterthought, Thorne was not even consulted. At all. When the vote was taken, Thorne, as was expected, chose not to make the vote a unanimous one. Ridge weakly sided with his parents and tried to convey with his eyes how truly sorry he was.
However, Brooke took the vote personally and lashed out in hurt and anger.
"Eric, you and Stephanie must be getting senile! Get the math right! I OWN 51% percent of this company! As for claiming to have no confidence in my ability to run it—what tripe! I am the one, who saved this company from financial ruin! I am the one, who has consistently made sure that we set trends in the industry! I am the one, who—"
Stephanie abruptly stood and leaned across the table in Brooke's face. "I! I! I!" Stephanie mocked. "It's ALWAYS all about you, isn't it? Well, while you're sitting there bragging about your nonexistent accomplishments, let me enlighten you as to what you HAVE done!"
Brooke cowered in her seat as Stephanie rehashed Brooke’s list of sins. "ALL you have done," Stephanie continued, "is to consistently embarrass this company! Your vulgar lingerie line! Your sluttish ways! The only thing you HAVE managed to accomplish is using your body to get the men of THIS family to kiss your ass! Well, it's over! You are out of here!"
Eric nodded his head in approval. "That's right! You tell her!" He murmured encouragingly to his wife.
Brooke’s beautiful face crumpled and her hazel eyes filled with tears. She dramatically fell across the conference room table and screamed in anguish. “How could you all do this to me?!”
Moved with compassion for his ex-wife, Ridge immediately went to her aid. He glowered at Thorne, who simply sat there and watched. Ever Brooke’s white knight, Ridge pulled Brooke out of her seat and gently cradled her in his arms while she sobbed brokenheartedly against his shoulder. Ridge stroked her hair and whispered words of comfort in her ear.
"Get your hands off of her!" A jealous Thorne demanded as he moved threateningly toward Ridge and Brooke.
An angry Brooke looked up from Ridge’s shoulder and snapped, "Thank you, Thorne, but I don't need your help," Brooke snapped, her face practically swollen from crying.
Stephanie, who watched all this with a steely gaze, remarked nastily, "Eric, do you really think that we should have such trash running this company?"
"No—I do NOT!" Eric responded. "That's why we took the course of action we did, Brooke. You are out of control!"
Ridge, came to Brooke's defense. "Okay, Mother—Dad! I think that's enough! Personally attacking Brooke isn't getting us anywhere!"
Stephanie balefully glared at her sons and then at Brooke. "My two sons . . . STILL defending this tramp!" Stephanie laughed. "Never mind that they have beautiful wives, who are decent women! You would never know it though! They STILL want to lay in the gutter and rut with this bitch!"
Pushed beyond endurance, Brooke took a few steps only to stumble. Ridge grabbed her quickly before she fell. However, one of the mules she wore came off her foot.
Stephanie laughed. "A whore's trick!" She observed. “You would do anything to hang all over Ridge, won’t you?”
“I’m not a whore!” Brooke screamed with tears streaming down her face.
An irate Eric advanced on Brooke. "Now see here—" he began.
"Shut up, Eric!" Brooke yelled. "You and that stank bitter old hag deserve each other!"
"Take your shoe, and get the hell out of here!" Eric roared.
"That's right!" Stephanie snapped. "You are DONE!"
Brooke put her shoe on and made her way to the door. However, she turned and looked at the four of them. "You all disgust me! For so long, I wanted your respect and acceptance. And, Ridge … how could you do this to me? You know that I’ve never loved a man the way I’ve loved you! Well, no more. You can all go rot in hell!"
Stephanie, never one to let someone else have the last word, shouted. "I bet YOU will get there before WE will, tramp! Stephanie shrieked in outrage at Brooke’s little speech. “It’s always ALL about Ridge, isn’t it? Well, he’s married to Taylor and he doesn’t want you! She has class, dignity, morals—something you will NEVER have! And you know why? Because you’re trash from the valley! Now GET OUT!”
Brooke trembled and cowered with each word, inching closer and closer to the door. Taking one last look at the Forresters, she quickly opened the door and ran sobbing into the hallway. _______________
