Forrester Creations Early Evening
Ridge nuzzled the neck of the model next to him in the bed. She sighed and cuddled up next to him. It had been over FIVE hours since Logan stood him up. Unbelievable! The wedding was less than six months away and she did him like this. He was furious and needed someone to satiate his lust on, so he called the model he had given the earrings to. He laid it on thick, about how he was having second thoughts about the wedding, and she fell into his arms.
Mark's Apartment
Taylor watched Mark sleep, then headed for his desk. There was a Kinko's across the street, and she figured that fifteen minutes should be enough. She leafed through his papers until she found the check and the note, then slipped them in her purse. Then she wrote a letter:
Honey, you were fantastic! I am going to get you a reward. I cannot say what it is, but it will be very tasty. Stay in bed, and I will be right back.
She returned to the bedroom and dropped the letter on his nightstand.
Fifteen minutes later..
Taylor let herself back in and headed for the kitchen. She arranged the treat she had purchased at the deli on a plate and headed for the bedroom.
Forrester Creations
Ridge buttoned his shirt and gazed at himself in the mirror, liking what he saw. He may be fifty years old, but he still had the ability to make the ladies' toes curl.
His cell phone rang. He tore his gaze away from the mirror and picked it up.
Ridge: Hello, Mother.
Stephanie: Honey? What are you doing at the office? I thought you would be at Brooke's by now.
Ridge: Well, she stood me up, so I am going to come home. Let her worry for a bit.
Stephanie: She stood you up? That tramp. She's at Nick's, I know it.
Ridge: Mother.
Stephanie: Well, you can't let her get suspicious. Just remember what is at stake.
Ridge sighed.
Ridge: Very well, but if I stay at your place, it will be punishment enough.
Stephanie: Ok, I'll have your room made up. And feel free to bring that new model if you want, I know how you need sex to feel like a man.
Shawn's Apartment
Shawn rolled his eyes as he listened to Ridge and his mother. What kind of messed up family did this guy come from? What kind of parent discussed sex with a child? In his opinion, that topic would be the last one he would discuss with his mother.
He picked up the photo of Ridge and his bed buddy and shook his head. In the office, yet! What if someone walked in on them? Then he picked up his file on Brooke Logan. This woman had married the killer God knows how many times and it never seemed to work out. He narrowed his eyes and decided that Ms. Logan needed to see what her fiancee was doing behind her back, and the recipient of the earrings that had upset her earlier. Shawn also thought about the cryptic comments about something being at stake. What were these two freaks up to?
Einstein Brothers, Across the Street from Donna's Apartment
Donna sat at her favorite booth as she waited for her order. Brooke loved bagels, they always seemed to cheer her up. And from what she had mentioned earlier, she needed all the comfort food she could get.
And Ridge was the cause of her misery. Big surprise there. Donna shook her head. She was itching to tell Brooke Taylor's suspicions, but she figured she would wait until her sister was a little less frazzled. Besides, she had no proof. When and if Taylor came through for her, then she would bring the subject up.
The door opened and Stephanie Forrester walked in. Donna prayed that the old snob would not see her, but she was out of luck. Stephanie walked over to her table.
Stephanie: Well, well, one of the slut sisters.
Donna exhaled.
Donna: Well, that's real original.
Stephanie: How's the single life?
Donna: Oh, better than marriage to some eunuch who is only with you because he got guilted into it.
Stephanie: What?
Donna: You heard. Get lost.
Stephanie: Where is your whore sister? Out fornicating?
Donna: I am not my sister's keeper. Why don't you ask your son, the love child you have with Mass.
Stephanie pulled herself up and raised her hand.
Donna: Lay one hand on me and I will have you arrested. And trust me, Stephanie, your mug shot on the gossip rags will make for far worse publicity for your precious company than the press my sister gets.

Boy, that hag is a piece of work! Is she arrogant enough to believe that she can physically attack Donna in a public place and not suffer any consequences? Wouldn't other patrons intervene or call the police? That woman and her son are off the hook.
I'm thrilled that Brooke is waking up from her fog and am so sorry that she's devastated. However, the tears she sheds now will be far less than the one she sheds if she goes through with the marriage and discovers the extent of her so-called man's treachery. And what kind of guy purchases $20,000 jewelry for a woman he's supposedly only screwing? What a fool!
It would be real cool if Taylor teamed up with the Logan sisters long enough to put a stop to Ridge's evil plans. Hopefully, Brooke will be more receptive to Taylor's revelations. Who knows? A real friendship might develop from it.
I'm also interested in what Shawn has in store and how he'll get the evidence of Ridge cheating to Brooke so she can see it with her own eyes.
Excellent installments! Keep writing! ;D

Hag has real nerve even approaching Donna, let alone making her stupid comments. Her calling Donna a slut takes real nerve, as her stupid son is cheating on his fiancee with a woman whose first name he didn't catch.
Idiots, both of them.
And yes, Brooke is very heartbroken at the moment, but when she finds out about Ridge and his model as well as his bribery, she is really going to screw him over good.

Einstein Brothers, Same Time
Stephanie lowered her hand and haughtily looked down her nose at Donna.
Stephanie: You would dare call the police on me?
Donna: You bet your ass I would, lady.
She stood up.
Donna: Brooke may have the need to tiptoe around you and take your hypocritical ravings, but I don't. And quit with the digs about "Logan sluts" or I will hire a lawyer and hit your ass with a defamation of character suit so big, you will have to sell your company to pay for legal fees.
Stephanie: Big words for a tramp from the valley.
Donna smirked.
Donna: Don't you ever get tired of saying the same thing over and over?
The casher came over with a bag.
Donna: Oh, looks like my order is ready. Just as well, this conversation is boring me. Get lost, Stephanie. And don't drop by this particular shop again or I will hit you with stalking charges.
Donna's Apartment
Brooke sat on the sofa, chewing on her thumbnail and thinking. It felt funny being at Donna's and not her home, but it was preferable to going home to Ridge. She had no intention of confronting him, as he would just lie.
Her cell phone rang. Damn, she needed to turn it off, it was probably Ridge calling. She picked it up and noticed the words "Private line" and the number was one she didn't recognize. She frowned and answered it.
Brooke: Hello?
Caller: Brooke Logan?
Brooke: This is she.
Caller: You don't know me, but I have a picture you would find interesting.
Brooke: I-who are you?
Caller: You don't know me, but if you want to know who the owner of that pair of ruby earrings is, come down to parking lot B. I will give you fifteen minutes.
The caller hung up.
What the hell-
Since discovering the earring in Ridge's office, she had headed home and taken Hope and RJ to her mother's, then went to Donna's. Donna was the only person she had mentioned her discovery to. The she shivered.
She was being watched.
Was it Ridge? Was he tailing her?
Brooke frowned, then picked up her cell phone and dialed a number.
Brooke: Hello, security? I am in apartment fifty-seven, and I need someone to escort me to parking lot B.
Parking B Fifteen Minutes Later
Brooke and the tall, stocky man stood near her car. He had a gun, so she wasn't worried for her safety. Then a figure stepped out from behind a post about twenty feet away. The figure had a trench coat and a fedora.
Figure: Ms. Logan?
Brooke stepped forward, but the guard held her back.
Brooke: Yes?
Figure: Don't take another step.
Brooke frowned. Who was this guy? She didn't recognize his voice. It sounded like he wasn't local.
Brooke: Who are-
Figure: Just someone who thinks you have been lied to.
He tossed a manila envelope towards her. She jumped back, then reached for it. The guard took it, opened it, and frowned, then handed the contents to her. She exhaled as she saw the picture.

Donna's Apartment Five Minutes Later
Donna entered with her bag of food, then shut the door. She looked around.
Donna: Brooke, I'm back. I hope you are hungry.
She frowned, then noticed a note on the coffee table. She picked it up and read it.
Brooke's Voice:
Hey, sis, something came up. I will be back in ten minutes, if that.
Brooke.
Donna exhaled. She hoped Brooke wasn't meeting Ridge, as the jerk could manipulate her into doing pretty much anything. She sat down just as the phone rang, then picked it up.
Donna: Hello?
Taylor: Donna? Hi, it's Taylor.
Donna: Hi, what's up?
Taylor: Well, I have what you are looking for.
Donna exhaled.
Donna: You're kidding.
Taylor: No, I'm not. I am in your building and can come up to give it to you.
Donna: Ok, great.
Five minutes later
Taylor and Donna sat on the sofa. Donna had a dark look on her face as she read the note.
Donna: I-can't believe Ridge actually did this.
Taylor: Tell me about it. I never thought he was capable of this level of deceit.
Donna: Think Stephanie is behind it?
Taylor: Oh, probably.
She stood up.
Taylor: Well, I hate to run, but I imagine this is a shock.
Donna stood up and shook her hand.
Donna: I'll see you to the door. And I really appreciate this. Does anyone else know?
Taylor shook her head.
Starbucks, Same Time
Brooke sat at a booth, looking over the photo, her expression blank. Then she put it back in the envelope, several thoughts running through her head.
How long has it been going on?
Why has it been going on? Are we having problems that I don't know about?
Who was the guy in the parking lot and what else does he know?
She supposed that she should be hurt over this, but after talking to her sister and Connor Davis, the idea that Ridge was going to trick her yet again seemed like an even bigger betrayal. If she signed that paper, then they could vote her out and leave her with nothing. Her lingerie line, the men's line, belief, all that hard work, for nothing.
She shivered in horror.
Then she thought about how proud she was of her lingerie line and the rush at the press she got when the company had yet another showing. Was she ready to give that up?
Hell, no.

Forrester Creations Same Time
Ridge sat in his leather chair, thinking about how he had dumped Taylor and Ashley for a woman who had never been up to his high standards and sulked. In his self-pity, he conveniently forgot that he and his mother had made the decision for him to marry Brooke in order to secure her signature.
He pulled out a remote and clicked on his TV, sure that Brooke was screwing Nick's brains out and pretending it was him. He rewound the tape and watched as Brooke entered the house, paid Catherine, and fussed over Hope and RJ. No matter what her faults were, she did love her children and doted on them. He squinted and looked at her face, noticing that she looked tired. Then she wiped her eyes. Was she crying?
She went upstairs and came down a few minutes later, with two suitcases. He frowned at her attire, which hid her figure. Instead of the form-fitting number he had selected earlier, she was wearing a sweater, jeans, and riding boots. She then took RJ by the hand and said something to Hope, and the three of them left.
Where were they going?
He forwarded the tape and noticed that they had not returned.
Sonofabitch. She was at Nick's.
He narrowed his eyes and clicked the TV off. How DARE she stand him up and take HIS children to that bastard's house! After all he had done for her, she stood him up for a walking ashtray. He stood up and picked up his car keys.
Nick's Mansion Ten Minutes Later
Nick Marone collected the toys his son had been playing with, then paused to look at his sleeping son. Jack was certainly a good-looking kid, with his father's blond hair and his mother's hazel eyes. Nick smiled as he put the toys in a box and then walked over to his son. He picked him up and kissed the top of his head. No amount of money or power could measure up to the feeling he had when he held his son.
He headed for the stairs to put Jack to bed and saw a car drive up. He frowned, as he wasn't expecting company and was retiring early these days because of fatherhood. Then he noticed the Rolls and sighed.
His brother, the blustering dressmaker. What did he want? Leave it to Ridge to show up without calling first. He shook his head and went upstairs, as he was damned if he was going to deal with Ridge and his nonsense in front of his son.
Ridge stood outside the door, banging on it.
Ridge: Dammit, Marone! I know you're in there, so open up and face me like a man.
Nick opened the door.
Nick: Ridge.
Ridge pushed past him and faced him, his arms folded. He glared at him.
Ridge: Ok, you conniving adulterer, where is she?
Nick: Who?
Ridge: Don't play stupid with me, you bastard. Where is she?
Nick: I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
Ridge: Logan.
Nick: I don't know anyone by that name. I know three women with that last name, however. Are you talking about one of them?
Ridge: Don't get smart with me, Popeye. I'm looking for Brooke.
Nick: She's not here. I don't expect to see her until this weekend, when she has Jack.
Ridge: Liar. She stood me up for lunch. And she left her house with MY children.
Nick: I see. Did you try her cell phone?
Ridge: I did. She didn't answer. Did she come crying to you? And of course you were too happy to comfort her and tell her what a bad guy you think I am.
Nick shook his head.
Nick: No, I haven't heard from her. Did she leave a note?
Ridge: I don't know. I haven't been home.
Nick looked at his brother and wondered how a man his age could be so rash and immature.
Nick: Then how do you know she left?
Ridge cursed to himself, realizing he may have tipped his hand. He certainly could not tell this opportunistic male slut that he had bugged Brooke's house, as he would waste no time telling her.
Ridge: Catherine told me.
Nick: Well, I suggest you go home and look for a note. If I hear from Brooke, I'll tell her to call you. Good NIGHT, Ridge.
Ridge: Are you throwing me out?
Nick: As a matter of fact, I am.
Ridge: Turning in so early? How old are you, sixty?
Nick: Not that it's your business, but I just put Jack to bed.
Ridge: How domestic. Don't you have a lady to take care of your son?
Nick exhaled. Leave it to his brother to be rude and intrusive.
Nick: Also not your business, but I am alone.
Ridge: Serves you right for dumping Taylor. She's the best you'll ever get.
He slammed his way out. Nick rubbed his head, realizing that he was getting a migraine. He made a mental note to tell the nanny that, if Ridge showed up, she wasn't to let him in. Nick had to smirk at Ridge and his baseless insecurity. Brooke worshiped the ground he strutted on, and he STILL got testy if she didn't show up for a date.
He picked up his phone and dialed her cell number.
Nick: Hello, Brooke? It's Nick. Ridge was just here, and he says that you left with Hope and RJ. Call me and let me know if you're ok.

I know ... shocking, isn't it? Giovanna, this is really shaping up nicely. Leave it to that insecure male slut, Ridge, to go all batsh*t crazy on Nick just because Brooke stood his sorry ass up for lunch. If only Brooke could read his mind and hear how he really thinks of her! Yeah, Taylor and Ashley were such "worthy" women, weren't they? Liars, adulteresses, and one is a sperm pig lusting after a mumbling egomaniac. I hope Brooke is okay and that Donna gets to show her proof of Ridge's real treachery before Brooke does anything rash.

And yes, Ridge is so predictable. Brooke stands his ass up, and he goes charging over to Nick's. Of course he doesn't give a damn where Brooke is, he just wants an excuse to pick a fight with Nick. Like when he went over to Nick's to help Bridgette pack, all he cared about was bawling Nick out. Also, he showed his ass by lying about talking to Catherine, a lie that will be exposed.
Just a question, if Brooke is going to have RJ's paternity retested, couldn't she have it done without that moron knowing?

Donna's Apartment Five Minutes Later
Donna sat on the sofa and checked her watch. Damn, it had been thirty minutes. Where was Brooke? It wasn't like her to be late. She picked up the phone, only to hear the door open.
Brooke entered, and Donna went to shut it.
Brooke: Hey, sis. Sorry I'm late.
Donna: You were lucky you got here when you did, I was getting ready to call you.
They walked to the dining room table. Brooke handed her the incriminating photo. Donna took it, looked at it, and shook her head.
Donna: Asshole.
Brooke shook her head.
Brooke: She's welcome to him.
Donna: Where did you get this?
Brooke: Some guy called me.
Donna: Who?
Brooke: I don't know. He didn't give me his name, just told me to meet him and he mentioned the earrings. You didn't tell anyone, did you?
Donna: No. Where did-
Brooke: The parking lot. Don't worry, I had security escort me. Well, this guy was wearing a trench and a hat. He didn't let me see his face.
They sat down.
Donna: Please tell me you thought about the forms Ridge gave you.
Brooke: I have. I'm not going to sign them.
Donna: Good. What changed your mind?
Brooke: I love my job. It hit me, I don't want to quit.
She looked at her sister.
Donna: What?
Brooke: You look like you know something.
Donna pulled out the note and handed it to her. Brooke read it, her eyes widening. Then she read it again.
Brooke: My God.
She started shaking.
Brooke: Where did you get this?
Donna: A reliable source.
Brooke: I-two million dollars.
She started crying.
Brooke: My little boy. How could he do this to him? That-bastard. He knew, he knew all along. No wonder he walked away from us when Taylor came back.
Donna handed her a tissue.
Brooke: I have to tell Nick. Oh, God.
She started crying even harder.
Brooke: This whole time he had a son. This will kill him.
Donna: Brooke, wait.
Her sister stared at her.
Donna: You need to know for sure.
Brooke: I do know, I know it in my gut.
Donna: You need proof.
Brooke: Yeah, you're right. I need to talk to Connor first. I wonder if I can have that test run without Ridge knowing.
Donna: Probably. But Nick might need to be tested as well.
Brooke sighed.
Brooke: Well, I can't let him see this note, he will kill Ridge.
She laughed hollowly.
Brooke: I can't say I'd blame him. I guess I'll just tell him that the hospital thinks that the first test was compromised.
Taylor's Apartment Same Time
Taylor sat on her sofa and shook her hair out, then kicked her slippers off. She was wearing an over-sized shirt and sweat pants. Since she wasn't having company, she had decided to rent a DVD. For millionth time she savored not having to be made up and coiffed up, a feeling she had when she was married to Ridge. He had always expected her to look picture-perfect, and she realized how tiresome THAT was. Plus she enjoyed the freedom to pick the DVD she wanted. Tonight she was watching Adam's Rib, a classic about a working woman with a mind of her own. Damn, Katherine Hepburn had style. No way would Ridge enjoy it, he would piss and moan about it being in black and white, if he managed to stay awake.
The phone rang, and she let the machine pick it up. She frowned as she heard the drone of her former husband.
Ridge: Doc, are you there? Please pick up.
She sighed and put the DVD on pause.
Taylor: Hello, Ridge?
Ridge: Why didn't you answer?
Taylor: I did. What is it?
Ridge: I'm in your building, I need to come up.
Taylor: Look, Ridge, now isn't a good time.
Ridge: Why? Do you have company?
Since when was that his business? They had been divorced for over a year.
Taylor: I'm just really tired.
Ridge: I can't imagine why. I called your office and the receptionist told me you left early.
Jerk. So much for her evening, she couldn't say no without looking rude. Even though she knew she didn't owe him anything, the habit of going along just to get along was a hard one to break.
Ridge: Well, Taylor? Are you going to let me come up or are you going to make me grovel?
She sighed.
Taylor: Ok, but only for a few minutes.
Five Minutes Later
Taylor answered the door, and her former husband pushed his way in. She looked at him and noticed that he looked tired and old. Plus his skin looked taunt, as if he had had some surgery done. She thought of Mark and how vibrant and handsome he was, as well as lacking in vanity.
Ridge: Damn, I have had a day from hell.
Taylor held her temper in check as she marveled at his lack of manners.
Ridge: I just can't believe Logan is doing me like this, Doc.
Taylor: Oh, did you get into a fight?
Ridge: I don't know. I went home, to her place, and she wasn't there. Plus she took MY children. I was put through the wringer at work and was so looking forward to tucking them in, and she does this.
Taylor thought of the way he had all but ignored Thomas, Steffy, and Phoebe when he decided he wanted Brooke after all, and shook her head.
Ridge: I mean, they are the real reason I am engaged to her. I want to do right by them. After all, my heart breaks for Hope, as her biological father has all but ignored her. Yet Brooke yanks them away to punish me.
Taylor: Look, Ridge, don't you think you're being a little melodramatic? It doesn't sound like Brooke to just pack up and leave without a warning. Didn't she leave a note?
Ridge: She did. She said that she needed to get out of town with the kids and she'd call me.
Taylor exhaled in annoyance. He was so damn selfish. Brooke had taken the kids out for less than a day and left a note, yet here he was, on her doorstep, whining as if she had left the state. She wondered of he had this conversation with Brooke while he was married to her and she didn't go along with what he said.
Probably. Brooke was an intelligent woman, there must have been some reason why she hung on.

Just a question, if Brooke is going to have RJ's paternity retested, couldn't she have it done without that moron knowing?Oooohh, I dunno about that, Giovanna. My own firm had a client who was on the hook for support payments to a woman he had a casual one night stand with. His paternity results came back 99.99%. His wife refused to accept the results as they stood. We all thought she was crazy and should just give up the ghost since the kid in question was about to turn 18 and graduate from high school. Well, she persisted. We hired a couple of experts who reviewed the lab results, including the work of the lab and the the two testers. What they found was shocking. Not only did this lab engage in shoddy and disreputable practices, but they used the wrong databases based on the ethnic make up of the father. Of course, the lab (and the county that hired them) stood by their results. In order to have those tests run again, everyone had to be retested--including the mother's ex-husband who was led to believe he was the young man's father all his life. In this instance, it made sense because the case had been the subject of litigation. That litigation went on for well over a year and actually went to trial. The judge overturned the original test results and found that the experts from the lab were not credible. One thing the lab attempted to do was to cover their tracks and rerun the tests using another database that was closer to our client's--without his having to come in to provide another sample. It still wasn't good enough for the court. Perhaps you can use your creativity and have it done with a previous sample of Ridge's DNA. Maybe one of our more astute readers know whether such a sample can be preserved by the lab. Good luck!

I love that you have kept Jack in your SL...as Brooke & Nick's son!!!
I also love your attention to DETAIL. I nearly CHOKED when I read Ridge's thoughts "Ridge buttoned his shirt and gazed at himself in the mirror, liking what he saw. He may be fifty years old, but he still had the ability to make the ladies' toes curl." CLASSIC!!!
And Stephanie's "Ok, I'll have your room made up. And feel free to bring that new model if you want, I know how you need sex to feel like a man." WHAT MOTHER would say that to her son? But I can imagine those words actually coming out of STEPH'S mouth!!!
And just HOW did Stephanie KNOW that Ridge was still at the office when she called him on his CELL phone. I guess that SHE must have Ridge secretly wired with a GPS system...just like he is secretly filming Brooke...and Shawn is filming Ridge. HOW DELICIOUSLY IRONIC, Giovanna!!!
And I am really liking THIS Taylor. Thanks for giving me a reason to cheer for Taylor again!!!

I don't think TPTB are doing Taylor any favors when they pen this stupid rivalry with Brooke. IMO, she is a doctor with a complex back story that could be explored instead of this crap about her being Ridge's trophy wife.

The Forrester Mansion The Next Morning
Stephanie Forrester stretched as she buzzed for the maid. As if on cue, Irina came in with a plate of eggs, sausage, coffee, and bagels.
After the maid left, Stephanie began eating. She savored this part of the day, as she had a few minutes to contemplate her day. And she had much to look forward to, as that tramp from the valley would soon be history. She had already fired the girl's brassy sister, which was a start. Now all she had to do was get Brooke to sign those papers. And she was stalling.
Stephanie sighed in annoyance. Ridge was doing that tramp the favor of the century by marrying her, one would think she would do just this one thing for him. Instead, she was being manipulative.
Stephanie was counting the days in which Brooke married Ridge, signed the papers, and then screwed up, the way she always did when they were married, as she was looking forward to having Taylor as a daughter-in-law again. Even though Ridge had dumped Taylor over a year ago, Stephanie knew in her gut that she still loved him and would take him back. After all, no man could compare to her precious son, certainly not that Nick Marone.
Maybe she should have gone to Taylor and told her about their plan to have Ridge marry Brooke and get her signature, as she was sure Taylor would understand. After all, Taylor never questioned her decisions when it came to the family and the business. Steph thought of the time she had pretended to let Eric go in order for him to marry Sally and trick her. She didn't care that Sally was lied to, nor that her heart was broken, as that crass woman deserved it, to think that Eric, a man with style, would actually want her. Maybe she should have told Taylor, but there were times in which Taylor didn't toe the line, so she had kept quiet. She didn't even tell Eric, as he had a soft spot for Brooke and didn't always follow through. Stephanie thought of Mass, Ridge's father, and smiled. Now he was a real man who would have no problem taking the trash known as Brooke Logan out. So far the only people who knew about their brilliant plan were Ridge, herself, Felicia, Thorne, and Jonathon, the lawyer. She knew that Thorne would die before he turned on her, and she had neutralized Felicia. At first Felicia had been reluctant, as she thought that Brooke was good for the company, what with her vision, but Stephanie had reminded her that Brooke was the mother of that wretched girl, Bridgette, who had taken her man, Dante, and Felicia had gradually come around.
So Eric was in the dark, and when she, his loving wife, presented him with the entire company, it would tie him to her even tighter.

Donna's Apartment The Same Day
Brooke sat at the dining room table, looking through some of the pictures she had taken over the years at FC. There was the lingerie line, with the press praising her idea; then there was the coverage of the men's line. And of course, there was the press release for Belief, her crowning glory. She picked up the picture of herself and smiled. Damn, that was taken so long ago! Was her hair really that big? Yeah, when she was a coed in the eighties, her style was more flamboyant.
When she was a coed....
A serious look washed over her face as that word, coed, echoed through her brain. Without thinking, she picked up the pad of paper she had been writing on. The first page had a list of things she was planing to do..
1. Call Ridge and put him off.
2. Call Connor
3. Call RJ's doctor about having the test done
4. Go to the office.
She turned the page and started to sketch a young woman. She had developed the Princess Line years ago, but realized that, with the economy, people were less likely to splurge. However, she remembered her college days and how young women enjoyed a new wardrobe.
Maybe I could talk to Eric about developing a line....
She put her pad down, realizing that she had to clean house before she did that. First off, she had to reestablish herself at work. Then she had to neutralize her opponents from screwing her over. She frowned, thinking she was being paranoid. Before she did that, she needed to have RJ's paternity retested. She had no doubt that Ridge had screwed with the results, as she had seen the note and the check. She knew his handwriting. However, she needed to do the test without tipping him off, as she didn't trust him.
She chewed on her thumbnail..
If I can't trust him at home, how can I trust him elsewhere?

Shawn's Apartment Same Time
Shawn sat at the table of his apartment and looked over his notes. Then he thought of the picture of Ridge and Bridgette and cursed to himself. He was itching to leak it to the press, but Amber had been very clear, she wouldn't give it up. He sipped his coffee and thought about what dirt he could get on Ridge. He looked at Amber's employment history and noticed that she worked for Spectra for a while-at least before the owner, Sally, retired. From what Shawn read, Sally was a scrapper and a colorful character, plus she had a history with the Forrester's. He made a note on his paper.
Spago Noon
The former grand dame of garments, Sally Spectra, made a sweeping entrance, winked at the hostess, and headed for her booth when she was in town-which wasn't very often. She was wearing a black, wide-rimed hat, sunglasses, and a black dress that showed off her busty figure. To complete her outfit, she wore a pair of leopard skin pumps.
After she sat down, she removed a compact and examined her appearance. Satisfied, she ordered her usual drink and waited for her guest.
Shawn entered and noticed the woman in black. He went over to her table and extended his hand.
Shawn: Ms. Spectra?
Sally extended her hand for him to kiss, which he did.
Sally: Yes. And you are-
Shawn: Mr. Green.
Sally: Yes, I got your call.
She gestured.
Sally: Please, have a seat.
Shawn sat down and cleared his throat.
Shawn: I am interested in the son of your rival. Forresters, I believe.
Sally: Which son? They have three.
Shawn: The oldest, Ridge.
Sally lowered her shades.
Sally: The great Ridge Forrester?
Shawn held his tongue, thinking this wasn't going to be easy.
Sally: Why?
Shawn: Let's say that he hurt someone in my family.
Sally: Interesting.
Shawn: What do you know about Ridge and Bridgette?
Sally coughed. Years ago, she remembered the rumors of Brooke Logan running out on her wedding day, and her son CJ had his theory on what led up to it. It was the secret that the high and mighty Forresters never talked about. She also thought of the time Amber had lured Ridge and Bridgette into a mine shaft and caught them kissing. Then she thought of Queen Stephanie's reaction if that little morsel was ever made public.
Sally: Just that, at one time, she was thought to be Ridge's daughter. However, Clark Garrison would know a bit more.

Excellent installments!! Your description of Sally is spot on! Even when Sally didn't have a dime to her name, she had enough bravado to sweep into Spago dressed in one of her Grand Diva outfits as if she actually belonged there. Even at her social climbing best (or worst), Sally didn't back down and was unapologetic about wanting her and her daughter to get in with the "right" people. I look forward to seeing what Clarke has to tell Shawn. How like Ridge to dump Taylor, ignore her and their children and then expect her to still be available to give him a shoulder to cry on. He is simply beyond selfish! Taylor is a better woman than me because his ass would have still been waiting for me to open the door. And to show you how narcissistic he is, it doesn't even occur to him how offensive it is for him to complain to Taylor, of all people, about Brooke. Like, what does he expect her to say? Stephanie is so predictable! I look forward to Brooke bringing her down. Brooke is really starting to think about her future and I like that. I'm glad that she's starting to question how she could trust Ridge at home or anyone else. Would it be too much to hope that she put the trash out of her home? Thanks for a really great read!

Forrester Creations One-Thirty P.M.
Brooke Logan entered, a literal knockout in a white, silk blouse, pin-striped jacket, beige skirt, and navy pumps, her hair in a French twist. She had spent the morning riding, which always invigorated her, and she felt empowered after talking to Dr. Caspry.
Brooke: I need your word that no one knows of our conversation.
Caspry: Well, since you are my patient, anything you tell me is confidential.
Brooke: Good. I need to have my son, RJ's, paternity retested. But I don't want my fiancee to know.
Caspry: Ok.
Brooke: Can I have paternity tested without him knowing?
Caspry: How many candidates are there?
Brooke: Besides Ridge? Just one.
Caspry: Well, if that one agrees to be tested, we can probably rule him out if he isn't the father.
Brooke: I don't think he'll be a problem. Well, I'll call you next week.
Brooke headed to her office and nearly bumped into a tall, statuesque redhead.
Brooke: Oops.
Redhead: Oh, I'm sorry.
She walked off. Brooke's eyes narrowed, as the woman looked familiar. She headed into her office and pulled out her briefcase. She closed the door as she pulled out the picture of her so-called fiancee and his latest diversion. Then she picked up her phone and dialed.
Brooke: Hello, Thorne?
Thorne: Brooke. What are you doing here?
Brooke: I work here, remember? I am still the CEO. Just a question, there was this redhead I nearly bumped into.
Thorne: Oh, you mean Jasmine Vale, the new model. Ridge just hired her a few days ago.
But of course.
Brooke: Ok, thanks.
She hung up, frowned, then dialed.
Brooke: Hello, human resources?
Voice: Yes, Ms. Logan.
Brooke: I need someone to send me the employment package for a Jasmine Vale.
Ten Minutes Later
Brooke sat at her desk, going over the last quarter sales. Not bad, but they could be better. Her phone rang, and she picked it up.
Brooke: Yes?
Receptionist: A Ms. Vale to see you.
Brooke: Send her in.
Brooke put her papers down and looked up as Jasmine entered.
Jasmine: Ms. Logan? Human resources said you needed to see me.
Brooke: Yes, well, I've been looking over your application, and I did a follow-up on your references.
She exhaled and leaned back.
Brooke: Your references didn't check out. And I found out about your conviction, a conviction you failed to disclose on your application. So. I am letting you go.
Jasmine blushed. Damn Ridge and his promises. He told her that Brooke would no longer be involved in the business, and even if she were, she would go along with what he wanted.
Jasmine: But Ridge told me-
Brooke: Ridge is merely the head designer. He has no say in whom gets hired. I apologize if he told you otherwise. I need you to leave within the hour.
Jasmine exhaled and turned. Brooke stood up and reached into her desk.
Brooke: Oh, I believe this is yours.
She tossed the earring at her, then walked over to her with a piece of paper.
Brooke: Here's the receipt. You should be able to get a decent price for these.

WOOHOO BROOKE!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
Way to go, Giovanna!!! It's great seeing Brooke standing up for herself and running her company in such a competent and no-nonsense/no holds barred manner!!!
I ESPECIALLY liked the underlined phrase!!!
I hope that Jasmine's firing doesn't alert Ridge to Brooke's suspicions about his trustworthiness lack of integrity...especially with her giving the earring back to her!!! I love how she is sticking it to Ridge in his wallet by giving Jasmine the RECEIPT for the earrings!!!

Forrester Creations, Ridge's Office Five Minutes Later
Ridge sat at his desk, sipping his coffee and reflecting at the night before. After leaving Taylor's, he was miffed at her selfishness. For starters, she looked like hell, not her usual polished self at all. He sighed, wondering why women always let themselves go when he left them. Then she made him leave. He had a good thing going with Jasmine, but he needed more than just sex, he needed worship, and Taylor had always been good at that. He thought that all he had to do was whine about how Brooke was taking him for granted, and Taylor would turn on the sympathy.
But she hadn't. Instead, she had sent him back to Brooke and told him to sleep on it. Unbelievable! Taylor of all people should know how much he forgave Brooke for, instead, it was like she was making excuses for Logan's cruel abandonment.
So he had called Jasmine and asked her to come over. Instead she made noise about getting her beauty rest, could they do it later? He sighed, realizing he didn't have a choice. Then he looked at his watch, and noticed that it was past noon. He had been without sex for a good twenty-four hours and he didn't like it. I'd better go to the fitting room and get a little booty from Jasmine, he thought.
The Fitting Room Five Minutes Later
Ridge entered without knocking. He was the boss's prized son, so he didn't feel the need to. Thorne had told him that Jasmine was already there, and that she was crying. Ridge's chest puffed up. Looked like she missed him and was ready to apologize for her flighty behavior.
Instead of seeing a lingerie-clad Jasmine, she was in her street clothes, packing. He ignored the fact that she had been crying and snuck up behind her.
Ridge: Hey, Baby, guess who.
Jasmine jerked away and slapped him.
Jasmine: You bastard.
He pulled back.
Ridge: Hey, Baby, what's wrong?
Jasmine: I was just fired.
Ridge laughed.
Ridge: Come on.
Jasmine: Oh, you think it's funny?
Ridge: Baby, only I can fire you.
Jasmine: Well, try telling that to Brooke. You know, the CEO.
Ridge: Not for much longer. She's stepping down.
Jasmine: Try telling her that. She found out about my references, and she found out about my theft conviction.
Ridge: Baby, it is hardly a crime. So you took some designer bags from your last job? That's not theft, it's taking perks for a job well done.
Jasmine: Well, she fired me. And she knows about us.
Ridge: What did she say?
Jasmine: She tossed my earring at me and handed me the receipt.
Ridge moved in closer and put his hands on her shoulders.
Ridge: Listen to me. She doesn't mean it. She's just trying to get my attention. I'll deal with her.
Jasmine: You will?
Ridge: Hell, yeah. She's wanted to marry me for years. If I hint about leaving her, she'll cave. You just gotta be patient.
Jasmine thought about it, then let him hug her.
Jasmine: Ok, Baby, I trust you.
Brooke's Office Two Minutes Later
Brooke was looking over applications and head-shots for models when Ridge barged in. She glanced at him coolly.
Brooke: Ridge. I'm very busy.
Ridge: Yeah, I heard. Jasmine tells me you fired her.
Brooke leaned back and sighed.
Brooke: I told her she had an hour to pack. Don't tell me she's still around.
Ridge: Mind telling me why?
He was pissing her off. Since when did she have to explain her dismissal of a model to him?
Brooke: Her references didn't check out. Plus she has a conviction for theft.
Ridge: Is that all?
Brooke: Theft, Ridge?
Ridge: How is that a problem?
Brooke: We are a high-profile design house and we have competition that would love to get their hands on some of our designs. The risk for leaks is too high.
He laughed.
Ridge: Come on, Brooke, we design clothing. We don't guard the nation's treasury.
Brooke: Maybe you don't see the danger of a Sally Spectra getting ahold of our designs, but I do.
He laughed again.
Ridge: Since when do you concern yourself with mundane crap like references checks? I already checked Jasmine out.
Since when? She counted to three. He was such a liar. He never concerned himself with anything other than designing and fitting, he complained that paperwork stifled his creativity. It was always someone else making sure that their employees were clean. And he was such a hypocrite. When Darla carelessly let Sally get ahold of the Ingenue Designs (An honest mistake, the only kind of mistake Darla could make; she was completely lacking in guile.), he screeched sabotage loudly enough for the whole garment district to hear. But he was perfectly happy to let a potential thief have free reign over the dresses in the fitting room because he was screwing her.

Brooke's Office, Same Time
Ridge looked at the woman who had adored him for so many years and it occurred to him that he didn't like her attitude at the moment. And she was wearing an outfit that hid her figure, which was never a good sign. He remembered when she snatched the company all those years ago and she was wearing a business suit that all but screamed, "You're not getting any of this." And he was really pissed off that she had fired Jasmine, a woman who adored him and told him how wonderful he was. However, how was he supposed to get her to change her mind about Jasmine without her getting suspicious? Instead, he tried a new approach.
He sighed.
Ridge: Do I sense a bit of jealousy?
Brooke stared at him.
Brooke: Excuse me?
Ridge: Are you jealous of Jasmine? Is that where her firing is coming from?
Brooke: Me, jealous? Hardly.
Ridge: Well, it's understandable, Logan. I mean, you were jealous of Taylor for years.
She coughed, itching to slap him into the next week. Jealous, indeed. If Eric fired an employee for theft, there was no way he would make such a claim. And it was so like him to bring Taylor up.
Brooke: I fired Jasmine because she had a theft conviction. And I don't want our latest collection in the hands of our rivals. Quite frankly I resent the way you are talking to me. You're being insubordinate, and I don't like it. I have the right to fire an employee if I think they are being less than honest with me.
Ridge laughed.
Ridge: You're being paranoid. And you're being uptight. I guess you need some quality time with me to help you unwind.
She counted to ten, seriously thinking about his crude comment and whether she could fire him over it, then decided against it. When she had proof of RJ's paternity, she would have all the ammo she needed to get him out of her hair. She looked at her watch and noticed that she had wasted ten minutes of her time.
Brooke: Damn, it's late. I need you to leave.
Ridge: Why?
Brooke: Not that it concerns you, but I have a meeting.
Ridge: Been spending time with Popeye?
Brooke: Excuse me?
Ridge: You're being rude to me. In fact, you're starting to sound like him.
She exhaled.
Brooke: I have a meeting with your father. Please leave, unless you want me to call security.

Shawn's Apartment Same Time
Shawn looked over his notes as he listened in on Brooke and Ridge's conversation. Boy, all it took was that picture of her man's infidelity to turn her into a block of ice. He could hardly believe this was the same woman who was in tears over a pair of earrings.
He had to laugh at Ridge and his stupidity. He hired a woman who was a convicted thief and he was whining because the CEO fired her.
Shawn looked over his notes that he had taken when he talked to Sally. So the killer wasn't really a Forrester and his real father was Massimo Marone, the disgraced shipping tycoon? He picked up the copy of Fortune with the feature on crooked CEOS. Apparently Marone had set up his lovely wife Jackie for income tax fraud, a stunt that placed him in the same category as Ken Lay.
Wonder if the apple fell very far from the portly tree?
He scanned his list of former employees of Forrester Creations and wondered which one he would speak to first. His eyes widened at the name, Deacon Sharpe, the current owner of Get Sharpe hotels in Vegas. How was he connected? Sally had mentioned that he had been married to Bridgette, Brooke's daughter.
Donna's Apartment Six O'Clock
Brooke was lying on the bed in her sister's spare room as she contemplated the events of the day. Her meeting with Eric had gone very well, and he seemed sold on the idea for her new line. Plus she was going to meet Nick the next day, as she needed him to agree to the test. She hated asking him to relive that time during the first test, as she thought about how heartbroken he must've been, but there was no way she was going to deprive him of his son if RJ was his. She blinked back tears when she thought about how happy she was at the time and how oblivious she had been to his pain. As she did so, she realized that being Ridge's so-called woman had sapped her of any thought independent of his. Was this what she was marrying into, a marriage that sapped her of her soul, intelligence, and empathy for others?
Screw that.
Deacon's High-Rise Same Time
Deacon sat on his sofa, eating Chinese food out of a carton. It was a relief to take a break from his plans to open a hotel in LA, as he had put in a long day. He contemplated calling Brooke to see about seeing his daughter, but it was pretty late.
The phone rang and he picked it up.
Deacon: Hello. Yeah, this is he.
He frowned.
Deacon: Oh, yeah, I know Ridge Forrester. Sure, I can meet. See you in ten.
He hung up.
Chuck's Bar Ten Minutes Later
Deacon walked into the bar as if he owned the place. He noticed a tall, blond man with sunglasses in the booth. He was rough-looking, but he looked slightly out of place-the trench coat made him look like money. Deacon gave him the once-over and walked over.
Shawn stood and shook his hand.
Shawn: Mr. Sharpe.
Deacon: Call me Deacon. And you must be Mister Green.
Shawn: Yes.
They both sat down.
Shawn: What are you having?
Deacon: Coke's fine.
Shawn gestured to the waitress.
Deacon: So. I understand you are interested in Ridge Forrester.
Shawn: I am.
Deacon: Ok. What do you read in the paper?
Shawn: Just that he's from a wealthy family. And his family is in fashion. I understand you were married to-
Deacon: Bridgette. I was married to Brooke's daughter.
Shawn: What can you tell me about that family?
Deacon: Well, they hated my guts. They didn't think I was good enough for Bridgette.
Shawn: What do you know about Ridge?
Deacon: Oh, that he's a grasping SOB. I know that he tried to steal the company from Brooke at least twice. I was there when he tried the second time.
Deacon laughed.
Deacon: I remember when Brooke came back and caught him. The look on his face was classic. He looked like he sat on something. I had to laugh at Ridge and his family getting busted by Brooke, as she was pregnant at the time. Imagine, that bunch being screwed over by a pregnant woman. I still have the security tape of that meeting.
Shawn: How?
Deacon: I swiped it while they weren't looking.
Shawn: So would you say that Ridge is a crooked businessman?
Deacon snorted.
Deacon: If he had a brain and were a businessman, yes. But he's a real mama's boy. He isn't even Eric Forrester's son, but he was raised as if he were. And every few years he makes one of these power grabs to get Brooke out of the company. The last one he was successful at, but his mother wound up giving Brooke a bulk of the company. She thought that it would get Brooke to go back to him.
Shawn: And she did?
Deacon: Well, not at first.
Deacon watched the other man the way one would watch a snake.
Deacon: However, what's your angle?
Shawn: Excuse me?
Deacon: What is it you're after?
Shawn exhaled. He was pretty good at reading people's faces and figuring out their motives, even before they did. And so far, this Deacon didn't seem to like Ridge. He decided that he needed an ally. And from what he read about Deacon Sharpe, he was not a man to be trifled with.
Shawn: Shane McGrath.
Deacon frowned, then chewed on his thumbnail. Shawn lowered his shades. Deacon gasped.
Deacon: I-you were-
Shawn: No, I'm his twin. Can I trust you?
Deacon: I-sure.
Shawn: Do you have a price?
Deacon shook his head.
Shawn: Are you sure? I have money.
He wrote on a piece of paper.
Shawn: That's my real last name. And my brother's. He used our mother's when he came to LA.
He leaned back.
Shawn: I want Ridge Forrester ruined. I want him to pay for what he did to my family. I want to strip him of everything he holds dear, and I want him to live so that he can suffer.

Giovanna, you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to seeing Ridge ruined! It would be just like him to make a power play over some insignificant model who's a convicted thief. Talk about overplaying your hand and not choosing your battles. He's an idiot plain and simple. Brooke handled that silly model girl perfectly! LOL! And I really enjoyed Deacon and Shawn together. I can't wait to see them put Ridge down like the dog he is!

A Seedy Apartment Seven O'Clock
Jasmine Vale cursed to herself as she nursed a Scotch. Damn, was I foolish, she thought. After all her mother had told her about the Forresters, it turned out that she was wrong. Well, not completely wrong.
Her mother, the woman who gave birth to her and gave her up for adoption because she couldn't afford to give her what she wanted. It had taken Jasmine two years to find her, and when she finally met her, the woman with the big, red hair and brassy manner had welcomed her with open arms.
Sally Spectra, a legend in the fashion industry.
Jasmine shook out her red hair and walked over to her mirror. She was a beautiful woman, with her mother's hair and her father's chiseled features. Jasmine smiled as she thought of her parents. Her adopted parents were great, but no one could take the place of her biological parents. Sally and Adam, a couple of scrappers who made no apologies. Her face darkened as she thought about how they both retired. They should be back in business, and Jasmine was determined that they would be.
That was where the Forresters came in. Jasmine had auditioned as a model with the goal of swiping some of their designs. Unfortunately, there was a setback. Brooke Logan had fired her.
Damn that woman. Her mother had told her that Brooke had loved Ridge all her adult life and would do anything to hang on to him. However, as pissed as Jasmine was at being fired, she had to admire the moxie of the woman who fired her to protect her company. It looked like Ms. Logan didn't suffer liars lightly.

Starbucks The Next Day
Brooke sat in a booth, sipping her coffee and wondering where Nick was. Then she checked her watch. Well, she had said eight, and it was ten till, so she needed to relax.
Nick Marone, her former husband.
He had loved her and put her first. But they both screwed up. She had failed to put Ridge in check, and he had slept with her daughter.
She sighed. Men like him didn't come around very often. Maybe she should have given their marriage a fighting chance. But Ridge had been hounding her and telling her what she had wanted to hear for years, and she caved.
She pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind, as she needed to right a wrong, then clean house.
As if on cue, Nick entered. He walked over to her booth and sat down.
Nick: Brooke.
Brooke: Hello, Nick.
Nick: You look well.
Brooke: So do you. I appreciate you meeting me.
She cleared her throat.
Brooke: I know what I am going to ask is difficult.
Nick: Shoot.
Brooke: When RJ was born and we had that test done.
Nick: What about it?
Brooke: I believe that the test was compromised.
Nick: I see.
Brooke: I know that time was painful for you.
He looked at her curiously.
Brooke: I was wondering if you would agree to be retested.
Nick: I see. Why now?
Damn, she thought. I hate lying to him.
Brooke: I came across some information.
She exhaled.
Brooke: I wouldn't ask this of you unless I had serious doubts.
His face clouded over.
Nick: Ok. When and where?
Brooke: You'll do this?
Nick: Of course.
Brooke: I'll call my doctor.
He stood up.
Nick: And you'll call me for the time and place?
Brooke: Yes.
Nick: Ok, I guess I'll be seeing you. Good-bye, Brooke.
He left.
Stephanie watched the blond man get up and leave. That tramp, she thought. She certainly didn't waste any time. She walked over to the booth.
Stephanie: Well, well.
Brooke leaned back. Great, she was going to have to deal with this woman.
Brooke: Stephanie.
Stephanie: You really have no shame, do you? My son has been worried sick, losing sleep, and here you are, getting ready for a tryst with your former husband.
So let him call Jasmine, Brooke thought.
Brooke: Spying on me, Stephanie?
Stephanie: Well, someone has to keep an eye on you. You know, Brooke, I have been more patient than most mothers, letting my son marry a woman who slept with two of her daughter's husbands. But that does not entail taking disrespect from your ill-mannered sister.
Oh, God, here we go again, Brooke thought. This woman was so damn predictable.
Brooke: Lay off my family.
Stephanie: Your sister had the nerve to threaten me. She told me that she was going to call the police on me.
Brooke: And of course you didn't do a thing to her.
Stephanie: Just called her out.
Brooke: So why tell me?
Stephanie: Tell her to back off.
